If you missed Gina Virginia Casella’s Fall “Falling Consciously” conference, then you missed my share of the two NEW SONGS! So, here’s a sneak peek. I’m still working on getting each full song on YouTube with its own video: https://youtu.be/vMYCMKNmNzk?si=ObOmNaBF3NwidhmL

I had an amazing time on the post conference wrap up (that Michael Kopf held on his channel a few days after Gina Virginia Casella’s Fall conference). I was ecstatic to be included in the lineup because I so enjoyed Daryl and Joshua’s presentations at the conference! Now, here I am speaking with Daryl James and Joshua Shapiro: https://www.youtube.com/live/0DiRaEOtxag?si=hOVkoutJ6PSJKP0o

Beach sketch

I continue, albeit slowly, to do some painted sketches of my husband’s artwork. I don’t have an art alcove like my dear soul artist friend, Linda Lewis of Creative Artworks blog… so I sit and sketch in stages in my recliner, usually while my husband is watching something on YouTube on our big screen TV. He will peek over at what I’m doing, but he’s good about waiting until I take a break to comment. And I’ve been quite pleasantly surprised that he’s so complimentary!

My husband, Richard Murrey, was a professional artist for over 40 years and an art director for a time for Sea World, Disney, and NASA, so I was kind of shy to start sketching. Thankfully, I persevered! I am now, using a smaller sketchpad, though that was my mistake when I ordered it, so I get to practice resizing each piece. Eventually, I may try my hand at sketching without using a model, or I will simply watercolor paint.

I begin with a pencil sketch, then use a marker to establish bold lines. –Richard Murrey artwork underneath, my sketch on top. –Sheila Murrey
This is how I sit to sketch; all my pens, pencils, and paints are in a rattan tote on the floor down beside my chair. My sketch is top left. –Sheila Murrey + The framed artwork on my lap. –Richard Murrey
I finished the painted sketch with oil pastels and watercolor paints. I really wanted the water to flow, but when I saw some of the black marker bleeding into the paint, I dabbed it a bit and decided to stop. Richard said he thought the bleed over was fine. I don’t know though. I must be picky. –Sheila Murrey

Moves Method

I’ve been so humbly grateful that my Moves Method short videos have been taking off! Many now have over 1,000 views, on YouTube, as well as nearly that many on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. Of course, doing my own mobility training, recording some, learning how best to edit them and get them onto each of the platforms, has taken a fair amount of time, so I have not been keeping up with my reading (both blogs/books). And for that, I apologize. You know me though, I’ll spiral back around to read. And winter is coming!

I’ve got my tent sauna setup again after moving it to the other side of my upstairs spa room, so I’ll read while I’m in the sauna in the evenings. I have also been experimenting with new recipes and happy to say, I’m between 2.5 to 3 inches of waist size loss and my clothes are baggy on me now (I don’t weigh myself, so not sure how much weight I’ve lost). I am in love with the Moves Method though!

  1. What a wonderfully rich and inspiring update! 🎶🎨🌿 There is so much creativity, learning, movement, and joy woven through your journey.

I especially loved reading about your beach sketch. The fact that you found the courage to sketch your husband’s artwork despite his impressive artistic background makes your perseverance even more meaningful. And honestly, his encouragement about the marker bleeding into the paint is a lovely reminder that sometimes the little imperfections become part of the character of a work. ❤️

    1. You’re so right, Mr. Verma. I am often choosing some of my husband’s easier works to try and replicate. Though after I started this beach scene, I found it wasn’t easy! Ha! Go figure! Yes, my husband is simply happy that I’m TRYING, so he’s very generous in his compliments of my sketching, I think.

      1. Haha! 😊 Sometimes, what looks simple at first turns out to be quite a challenge! But that’s the beauty of art—you learn something new with every sketch. Your husband’s encouragement is precious, and your willingness to try is what truly matters. Keep sketching, keep experimenting, and most importantly, enjoy the journey. With patience and practice, you’ll be amazed at how far you can go!

    1. Thank you so much, dear Linda. Yes, I keep myself busy, for sure! I just don’t get back to my blog site very often. I have sooo many things I could write about, but always feel very behind in what I can do. I am currently back to updating my print version of the We Are All Connected book to resubmit the manuscript to Amazon to see if they can get their printers to print it in a better quality. After that, I’ll go back to the screenplay I started working on earlier this year. And more sketches!
