angels all around you
when grandpa was going off to war, grandma held his hand hugged his neck, shed a tear and whispered in his ear daddy come home to me, please come back to me
now let’s believe and agree, this is what we pray
angels all around you, every second of everyday angels all around you, each time you kneel and pray
when daddy was called to serve, mama cried and held him tight she kissed his face, wiped away the tears and sang to him papa come home to me, please daddy come back to me now let’s believe and agree, this is what we pray
angels all around you, they’ll bring you back home with angels all around, you’ll never be alone
not long ago uncle sam called on me, my little girl was sad but she hugged my neck and said daddy i’m so proud of you she held me tight and said,
daddy now that mommy’s an angel, she’ll bring you back to me daddy now that mommy’s an angel, now let’s believe and agree

every drink is a story
her glass of wine was empty as she talked about his ways
the bartender poured another story called cabernet
she wondered if he’d ever find another love like hers
a glass of red wine spoke of better days
every drink is a story, a life of it’s own
telling memories of heartbreak and joy
pour another shot to help me think
my story is in this drink
his whisky went down as he pondered her leaving
the bartender poured a message from black jack
he talked about her hair, her glow in the mornings
another shot had him wanting her back
chorus
if you see me on a barstool with a shot of tequila
join me with your cocktail of life
we can trade tales of the perfect romance
bartender you can pour us one more chance
chorus

galactic love
sitting on my porch with my 6 string crying out
a bright light in the sky made me give a shout
humming and a buzzing, it landed in my field
hoped i was dreaming but i feared it was for real
a door began to open, my heart skipped a beat
there she stood, a goddess, i was glued to my seat
she asked in perfect english did i hear you sing a song
i said it was my tune, was there anything wrong
she said your chorus is too weak, the bridge just falls apart
you’ve over rhymed and over used the organ you call a heart
i will teach you loves universal ways
a night with me among the stars will change your day
she showed me all the planets created by romance
she sang to me her song of love with a sensuous dance
when morning light woke me i began to sing
all about the pleasures galactic love did bring
my guitar cried so sweetly, a song was given birth
as i recalled last night with a goddess not from earth
break
time passes and at night i sing under the stars
hoping she will come again from venus or was it mars
inspiration comes to me, i hear her voice at times
telling me to write the songs she left inside my mind
she said my lyric is poetic the hook is mighty strong
you didn’t rhyme charms and arms in this loving song
remember when i came to you from the stars above
you will write a hit and remember our galactic love

gonna open a bar
trying to be heard for so many years, just couldn’t get a break paying my dues, playing the blues, living on give and take all the rejection, and now in reflection, i see what i must do get my own place, promote my face and play my songs for you
gonna open a bar,
be your cocktail star
play my songs for you, have a long neck or two ‘cause i’m gonna open a bar
tasty libations, and down home music, says the sign on my door pour you a bourbon, while i sing like urban, bet you’ll yell for more i’ll hire a house band, with my songs in demand, this is what i must do open a bar, tune my guitar and share my songs with you
chorus
i’ll play what i wrote, every verse, every note, no one to please but you happy hour all night, we can jam ‘til it’s light, it’s my bar and i’ll party for you i’ll hire a house band, with my songs in demand, this is what i must do open a bar, tune my guitar and share my songs with you

i like you better when you’re gone
sometimes you drive me up the wall, sometimes we squabble and fight but when we get it together, we’re gonna be lovin’ all night
i hear you nagging ‘bout chores, well here’s a list of honey doos
i don’t regret we ever met, but sometimes we sing the blues
baby i love you when we touch, but when we argue, not so much i can’t say who’s right or wrong
baby i like you better, baby i like you better, baby i like you better, when you’re gone
i don’t care for your chihauhau, i’m allegic to your cat we see life a little different, but making love is where it’s at i can’t drive your monster truck, well i can’t stand your s.u.v. we get along together ‘cause we let each other be
chorus
i got my mancave, i love my sheshack, you text me imogees, i send smileys back meet in the kitchen for a bite or two, i find myself making sweet love to you
chorus
they say absence makes a heart grow fonder and you’re absent most of the time always flying from here to yonder
while the heart that grows fonder, the heart that grows fonder,
the heart that grows fonder… is mine

it only takes a moment
never was a religious man ‘til an angel changed my mind
couldn’t believe a memory would turn me back in time
didn’t know a kiss could change the way i felt inside
all these things escaped me ‘til you silenced my pride
it only takes a moment
one click of the clock, one turn of the lock
a moment for love to heal a soul
a hug in the rain, to turn back the pain
we all need someone to hold, we all need someone to hold
never asked questions ‘til i was told not to speak
can’t say I remembered the pain from week to week
didn’t grasp the need for compassion and giving
all you shared with me, changed my way of living
it only takes a moment
one click of the clock, one turn of the lock
a moment for the past to melt away
sharing a walk, making time to talk
to turn night back into da, yto turn night back into day
so here i am , loving you more than you k now
so here i am , loving you more than i can show
i never knew what real love did ‘til you gave it back to me
i w ant that moment a gainwhen you made my heart see

i was made this way
some people say i’m hard as nails, a few have felt it for real
i try and be just middle of the road, but they say i can’t feel
i don’t go looking for trouble but i do enjoy a rockin’ good time now sometimes things get rowdy, it‘s always wrong place, wrong time
don’t hold it agains me darling, i struggle with demons everyday all i can do is work hard for you, after all, i was made this way
some people question my sincerity, a few have made that mistake
i have always told the honest truth, i ain’t got nothing that is fake i’ve tried to live by the golden rule but some have crossed that line when my motor’s hot, it’s hard to stop they’re dancing on borrowed time
for all the reasons you love me, i’m a better man now than yesterday all i can do is work hard for you, after all, i was made this way
i was made this way and yet you stay, that’s devotion true and deep your honor i’ll protect, harm i’ll deflect, for your love i promised to keep
people say i’m getting better as long as they let me be
i used to do unto others before they could do unto me
i try and see the good in folks and use a kind word or two watch my tongue and shield my ears so i can come home to you
darling keep holding me up, i’ll win this battle day after day all i can do is work hard for you, after all, i was made this way after all, i was made this way

last call before christmas
it’s christmas eve once again, by myself but with friends
we’re all regulars at sheila’s bistro and tap
over the bar hangs a wreath, with a sign just beneath
it says feliz navidad to the world
tree lights twinkle, while we toast kris kringle
the bar is full of holiday cheer
i hear sinatra singing of sleigh bells ringing
it should be the happiest day of the year
we lift a drink to this season, for broken hearts with a reason
to be without a loved one this year
i have no yuletide expectations, just this bar room celebration
last call is all i’m waiting to hear
santa will be calling as snow begins falling
the bar is full of holiday cheer
under mistletoe couples kissing, but there’s one that i’m missing
it’s the loneliest day of my year
sheila pours me a shot, she says i think of you a lot
it’s your last call and it’s on me
it’s closing time for the bar and i don’t live that far
would you come home and share christmas with me
snowflakes are dancing, my heart is romancing
this home is full of holiday cheer
the girl i’ve been missing, is the one that i’m kissing
it’s the happiest night of my year
it’s the happiest night of my year
last call before christmas this year

making love by the light of your smartphone
we used to get all hot & sweaty, getting so worked up & ready.
any place, any time, you’d be all mine, all night rocking steady.
time rolls on, life gets in the way, kids & work, no time to play.
night falls, my libido calls, i’m on instagram i hear you say?
making love by the light of your smartphone
while you’re texting to all your friends
did you snap my pic of lust, it’s on facebook i trust
posting hashtag sex maniac once again
you’re storming the enemy’s gate, you’ll be fighting way past late.
i should come first, that phone is a curse, guess i have to wait
my body used to drive you wild, but now i’m just a video file.
skype when you can, if you want this man, tweet for me awhile.
chorus
i wanna face to face with you, this facetime just won’t do.
i need you so much, don’t you want my touch, delete me if it ain’t true
lead break over verse

there’s a song in here
i’ve seen that look before, he had nothin’ to say
a tear roll down her cheek as he walked away the suit at the end of the bar buys her a drink
a tattered old man sips his gin and gives her a wink
there’s a song or two in here some million sellers sitting near i’ll write ‘em after a few more beers i know there’s a song in here
the bartender’s pretty secret is giving him a show the war hero feeds the jukebox and lights up music row the waitress has somewhere else she’d rather be and the girls night out all singing a drunken melody
chorus
the bar owner tells his story again how his future was taken away when a college star was drafted into a war he fights everyday
chorus
i’ll write this honkytonk biography, these stories i know so well now you can see, it’s so close to me, it’s part of my life to tell

too much together
you’re amazing, so beautiful, you finish what i’m thinking
you’re smart and oh so crazy, so full of life and happy
everything i wanted, all that i need, you complete me darling…
can’t get enough of you
we have too much together and i’m still wanting more
all i do is watch the clock until you’re back again
too much together, my heart’s an open door
i’ll let you in anytime, you know where my love’s been
you’re spiritual, compassionate, support what i’m doing
you’re light and so much fun, so full of love and smiles
everything i wanted, all that i need, you complete me darling…
never get enough of you
chorus
take all of me you need, i’m yours forever, i’ll promise to be always by your side
i’ll share my life with you and no other, come along and be my guide
break
