Perhaps before I posted the previous article, I should have addressed the sacred cow in the room. I can’t charge money for Spiritual Advising. And I often feel resentful of people who charge ME too much money for Energy Healing, health coaching, etc. Ugh! Why?
That’s what I’ve been asking myself. And here’s what I’ve found:
My first and perhaps most REAL connection between Spirituality and Money was from my years in church. It was when the plate was passed around and people “tipped God” or slipped in their envelope containing their tithe.
I’ve never fully bought into how most churches handled the idea of the tithe. (The church I was raised in taught the way one should calculate their tithe different than most other Christian churches too. We were only asked to give 10% of our INCREASE.)
But what does the church DO with the tithes they receive?
Something about giving “to God” via a church always felt off in my body—too institutional, too transactional, too removed from real relationship. So instead, what would have been “tithe money” tends to move more organically through my life. Supporting small businesses. Buying something and giving it directly to someone who needs it. Responding in the moment rather than following a rule.
That feels closer to how spirit actually moves through me.
And yet, despite that clarity, money itself still carries weight. Tension. A quiet moral charge.
Because there is a deeper inheritance at work—one that didn’t come only from church doctrine, but from the stories, images, and exemplars I absorbed long before I ever questioned them.
When I look at the world’s most celebrated spiritual figures, a pattern appears.
Mother Teresa. Gandhi. Buddhist monks. Mystics, saints, renunciates.
Again and again, spiritual fullness is paired with material simplicity—or outright poverty. The message is rarely stated directly, but it’s absorbed nonetheless: when one is truly full of God, one needs less money.
Scripture reinforces this impression. (And the church I grew up in didn’t pay their pastors, deacons, elders, and so on. All of the priesthood members held full-time jobs outside of the church.)
“The love of money is the root of all evil.” “It is easier for a rich man to pass through the eye of a needle than to enter the kingdom of heaven.” “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
Add to that the dominant image of Jesus—wandering, unattached, living simply—and a binary begins to form. Even knowing there are other narratives of Jesus, including those that trace him to wealth and royal lineage, the version that lodges in the collective body is the ascetic one.
At some point, this stopped being an idea and became a sensation.
I can feel it in my body when money enters the conversation. A subtle contraction. A hesitation. As if wanting more might signal a lack of trust. As if spiritual maturity should naturally dissolve material desire. As if God and money sit on opposite ends of a moral spectrum and choosing one requires turning away from the other.
I didn’t consciously decide this. It arrived through repetition. Through scripture heard without context. Through reverence offered to those who renounced. Through a culture that quietly mistrusts abundance when it appears alongside devotion.
And yet—something in me is no longer settled by this framing.
Not because I’ve resolved it, but because I can feel its incompleteness. The belief is there, yes—but it no longer feels entirely true in my body.
So this is where I’m starting.
Not with answers. Not with conclusions. But with honesty about the divide I inherited—and how it still lives in me.
Somewhere along the way, money and God became opposites in my nervous system. I didn’t choose that consciously.
But I can feel it now.
Perhaps what started with feeling Godbumps. Now, I am feeling more thoroughly from doing all of this dancing. Hmm

Integrating the Spirals
I’m encouraging those “over 60” to open to lifelong learning (observe and gently question their pre-conceived beliefs, aka ‘Programming’), become more aware of their thoughts and emotions, consistently move their bodies (too many are stuck in their heads and physically unhealthy), become strong, and resilient in spirit, soul, mind, body. And to question EVERYTHING!
Yours in consciousness-expansion as we evolve and revolve during our mystical awakening. All while doing-my-egoless-best, to take you on a limitless, spiraling thought ride to better health, through doing more with ease, to help us sustain the JOY in our lives! (With lots of Gratitude throughout.)

Before I reblog this deeply moving article, let me tell you why by sharing the comment I left at the end of it:
Thank you for this sobering story of reflection and excellent scripture verses. For decades I have abstained from attending church because they wouldn’t open their doors to the poor and needy. 1) I used to serve food once a week at a local church my family and I attended until the pastor ended the program because someone was in fear about the ladies safety who took turns driving the church van to transport the homeless to the church and back. 2) Churches typically blame their insurance companies for not allowing them to keep their doors open 24×7 to those in need of ministry or place to sleep. 3) A coworker who desperately needed counseling one day, left our office to walk across the street to a church. She got in a side door. When the priest approached her he asked how she got in! She told him and after escorting her out he proceeded to lock the door behind her! 4) When a hurricane struck Florida years ago, my parents and my children (who had been visiting them for a weekend), went to our church (ironically, that my mom cleaned each week of her own good heart, not for money), and they slept on the floor because mom had the key. They needed to stay there because my parents lived in a mobile home. The church found out the next day and kicked my parents and my children out. We were stunned and never went back. SAD to say! Our churches are NOT serving God anymore. Look at how they closed during Covid!!! Watching the latest episode of The Chosen actually brought all this back up for me. Jesus would drive many people and pastors out of the churches if He was walking the earth today.
Now, here’s the article:
I quoted this passage a few years ago, but the reference to it being from Eugene Peterson’s rendering of the New Testament only appears at the end. I…
Do you meditate? As for me, I love my alone time. And trees help! I use them as analogies while I teach too. I have for years but never gave it much thought as to why until 2019.
You see, in 2019 I met a huge Yew tree in Scotland. It was behind Rosslyn castle at Rosslyn chapel of Da Vinci Code fame.
When we moved back to the Bradenton, Florida area two years ago, I realized I had always been drawn to meditating with the banyan trees (similar to Yew trees) that grew outside my corner window office/cubicle.
I was blessed to have them there to ground me for the three years I worked in that place. I could look through the window and connect with the lot of banyan trees and one very tall lone palm tree, and meditate during chaotic work hours. Those trees grounded me (as I worked on the fourth floor).
Similar to the being and beast connection in the film, Avatar, I had made a soul connection with the trees.
Upon moving back and driving by my former office building, I looked for the trees and they were gone though. I did some research and found the church across the street had the trees removed to make a parking lot. I guess they didn’t learn a thing from Joni Mitchell, who sang the song, Parking Lot.
It is my humble honor to expand our consciousness together and GROW our souls.

Good evening or good morning. I recorded this just after leaving one of my Tuesday night Reiki circles. I wanted to come to you with a few thoughts because I usually opened up from flowing Reiki energy and feeling the GodBumps. And singing the song at the end and holding hands. Tonight we had almost all new attendees at the circle. (This was recorded 3-Jan-2023)
One of the other participants was running a little late as he had been ill. And so he was the only other one that was there who had been in my Reiki one and two level certification classes. Everybody else was new.
It was amazing though, and I learned. Here’s what I learned.
Wow. So you know, I had practiced Reiki before just recently getting my level one and level two certifications. But that was I was certified back in 2009. So and I really hadn’t kept up with it and I hadn’t practiced it. I was feeling the energy then. But I didn’t know then what I know now. And I didn’t call the energy GodBumps. I didn’t even really say goosebumps. I just felt it and noticed it. And I really didn’t even start to delve into what it could be why was where it was coming from any of that. I just simply felt it. And I observed it and I made a mental note of what I was doing. At that moment I was feeling GodBumps. You can search this site for more of my descriptions of what GodBumps are ore read this previous post: https://sheilamurrey.net/2022/12/29/after-christmas-thoughts-on-consciousness/
Fast forward all these years now. So I started feeling GodBumps in 2005 I actually remember feeling GodBumps while I was in a conversation with a lady at work. She was Anglican and I didn’t even know what that was. We were having a little discussion about the Anglican Church, religion, God, and my views on spirituality. And she was quite open to hearing that. And that’s when I felt the GodBumps.
I was also doing the raw vegan diet in 2008. And so at that time, I would go into bookstores and coffee shops and raw vegan cafes and things like that, and I would get into these conversations with complete strangers. But because we were talking about things that were healthful and uplifting to the body the raw food and healing disease naturally. Homeopathy and naturopath and muscle testing and we were having all these kinds of conversations. And so every time I get a conversation with someone even at the health food store, I would have feel the GodBumps. But again, the only thing I could attach or connect the feeling to was the subject of the conversations. I didn’t really know anything else about it.
Now, fast forward to now Reiki level one, Reiki level two, and doing these certifications. Maybe it’s not for the piece of paper and to be able to say that I’m certified in Reiki but it is to qualify or quantify or organize the information in a better way for me to continue to practice it and hold it and be able to learn the protection. I probably learned it in one or two of the class I took in 2009 but I didn’t practice it enough for it to stick. So I didn’t use the protection or turn the Reiki light on, as we say before each session and before doing anything actually before driving the car whatever.
To remember to do that and to be practiced so that the muscle memory takes over which is the reason we practice these things any modality or sports to improve your performance. You/we practice so it becomes muscle memory. Dancing is that way, okay? So the reason (to get certified in Reiki) is not just for the piece of paper, but the reason is to get through the experience again with all of these new people so it will stick with me.
And so you see the same people in each session. You’re building layers upon layers of the cellophane energ–I speak about the cellophane and my book, Blue Eyes: Ethereal Messages of Connection–if you don’t know what I’m talking about, and most people won’t. But there are layers and layers of energy and energy fields and if you’re studying with Nassim Haramein, you hear people talking about the new quantum physics. If you’re interested in those things and you’re learning about those, you don’t know how to work the radio, you don’t know how the radio works, right sending the pieces of music and all those notes to the airwaves but you know that if you tune your radio correctly to the right station, the right frequency, the radio will play the music for you.
So it’s the same with Reiki and the more you practice and the more you are attuned when you certify and the more you practice, then upon that, it’s like getting a clearer and clearer signal. So tonight here we’ve got new people. So I say all that to tell you that what I learned now is that even people who came tonight who had only been through Reiki level one. And it had been years ago just like me when I first went a few months ago when I met Victoria and I started going. They are in the exact same spot now as I had been.
We were asking them because it was only three of us to more than six of us in the room. I think there were eight and there were three of us who were performing, if you will, Reiki or channeling or flowing Reiki energy, whatever terminology you want to use. Three of us were giving Reiki tonight. So, Victoria (our Reiki Master), told everyone that even though a couple of you have definitely done level one in the past and even though it’s been years ago. Perhaps this is your night to get gain a little bit of confidence and go ahead and give and practice on each other if you’d like.
Well, of course, we start going and in my head, my academic mind, I just sort of let go of the know-how part the organization of the information part and I just tune in with my heart and I go to the neutral place and I become the channel I become the flower of the energy I become the empty vessel of which Source, Spirit, God Omniscience. The Reiki Masters flow the energy through. I set my intention for the recipients, which is their intention. And before I knew it, I was giving Reiki to three different people before it was said and done. And actually, the third person when I went to give her Reiki, asked me if she could give it to me. And I thought, what, but she’s only level one. But then, just as soon as I had this thought, I could not. The next thought was, it doesn’t matter. What do you always talk about Sheila, what do you talk about on Clubhouse?
When I was in Clubhouse I had a room called, Spirituality without the training wheels. Because once you’re connected to spirit, and once you’re connected to Omniscience God Source Creator. You’re connected to the Energy. ALL of the organizations are wonderful. You know, the church, the church service, the training wheels, and the guides. That’s all wonderful, but you don’t need the guides really. You can freestyle it now; you’re a free wheel. You’re a free spirit. So you know what your intention is. They know what they’re asking for, and what their needs are. Now you’re just making this energetic handshake. And you’re making this connection energetically to flow the energy through one person as the performer to the receiver. And just about cost. Okay, beautiful. I got it. So I know that’s my spiral way of getting to my point. I learned that you don’t have to be certified at the different levels, you’ve already gained an attunement, you do you would have to have at least a level one Reiki and attunement in order to practice Reiki or flow Reiki energy, again, that’s a type of energy. Omniscience is all energies, right?
It’s the yin and yang symbol. It’s sacred geometry. It’s the unified field that everything hangs on. So all the Reiki symbols hang, just like if you’d look in your picture in your mind’s eye a scaffolding or a chain link fence. And now you’re taking these symbols and Reiki language. It’s the Reiki symbols, but it could be anything else and you’re hanging. Let’s say it’s a million crosses, and the cross is your symbol. Hang the cross symbol on the scaffolding. Okay, the universe Omniscience God is providing the scaffolding and you’re just hanging the symbols on it to remind you, it’s not that you’re praying to the cross or that you need the cross to save you you’re being reminded that the cross is a symbol of salvation, or it could be a symbol of rebirth in general and regeneration. It can be a symbol of rebirth. You know, it could symbolize a lot of things for you. And that’s the same thing with all the symbology with the Ganesha with the praying to the statue of Mary. All of that. It’s all the same thing.
Those symbols/statues/images or such are just reminders of those deities/divine essence or presence and in our English language you know, we write in symbols, each letter in the alphabet is a symbol. So there’s no like heaven or hell good or bad ascribed to each symbol–it just is. And it is whatever it reminds you of, you might attach to the first letter of your name, and every time you see that first letter of your name it reminds you of you know, and maybe your Thanksgiving of being here on the planet. So that’s what I learned tonight. Even level one Reiki initiated can give Reiki and I felt it. I felt the energy run through my body and be in a place of gratitude, as always Everything Resolves to Gratitude.
It’s best to be out of your head and into your heart and into the feeling place so that you can experience the love and the sheer joy of these types of energy work. And do these types of healing modalities. Every cell in your body will thank you. Yes, ALL 50 to 70 to 100 trillion cells, whatever’s in there. They’re dancing, and they’re thanking you for putting yourself with like-minded people in a situation where you can receive. Be open to receiving many blessings and always is my prayer for you this evening. Thank you.

It is wonderful to be with you. I’m humbly honored to serve. I go to a Reiki circle in Bradenton, Florida every other Tuesday night. Because even though I may not always feel the energy in my hands, I’m practicing. I’m practicing being a vessel. And I love the connections I’ve made there. (I’m going for another Reiki certification Oct. 23 and 24, 2022 and another weekend in November as well.)
My first Reiki Level I certification was in 2009.
You know doctors are only practicing medicine. And that’s an important point. Let’s say that again. doctors, medical doctors are only practicing medicine. Just remember that keep that in mind the next time you go.
I wonder if my dentists whom I’ve been to in the past are only practicing as well? It certainly seems like they try out new thing because people every so often, like my friend who had five back surgeries and six years, the surgeon she went to, apparently is still practicing even though he’s the head or chief blah, blah, blah, of surgery in one of the best hospitals in the country!
So, it seems that people just keep promoting people. You keep standing on great shoulders and rising, but you’re always still practicing no matter how high in in a clinical setting you go or even in higher education, you know, the faculty. I mean, they don’t just reach some pinnacle and then “know it all.” They don’t just know something and then teach it forever. They’re always learning, so I guess that means they’re always practicing as well.
At any rate to get back from that spiral, rabbit hole of the thought. In my Reiki circles, I’m always practicing energy. I’m practicing energy medicine or energy healing. And I’m just the vessel it’s not me, you know, and I’ve had that experience before and I’ve talked about that publicly. It’s not about me, I could walk into a room and talk with 10 or 20 people and never tell them my name because it is not about me, this person who’s been named, right. It’s my energy, my aura, my presence, my awareness.
When I make a turn, and I drive down the street and then I have a thought drop in that I’m gonna see an open house sign. And I have time my schedule to stop if I choose to. What do you think that is? A few minutes ago that happened to me. And so after I ran my errand on my way back home, I decided to turn and follow the street sign that said open house, and I went down another street not far. It was actually the first house as I made the turn. And it was indeed an open house with Exit Realty and it had a four digit house number 3558 or something like that. I don’t want a house anyway. And if I did get a house, I’d want us very small house. And then my next thought was, the price is probably too high in Sarasota. It’s gonna be at least $300,000 And I’m not gonna buy a $300,000 house. So I didn’t stop. I thought I will look at the house. I’ll look it up on the Exit Realty website later that MLS or Zillow or something, but that’s kind of how this works for me. I’m driving down the road and I’m sort of in this meditative state where there’s nothing being asked of me. I’m just present. I’m aware I’m an open channel, if you will. I’m an open vessel for energy to come in, sit and then flow out and I do practice, and practice some more.
I’ve recently become aware I need to take that defensive driving mentality and apply that to other things in life, just like my anxiety levels or anxious thought levels, when I get anxious. I think I’m going to be asked to do something at work I don’t know how to do, or don’t want to do, or don’t like to do, and I start feeling those little tiny feelings of anxiety well up inside. I can apply the defensive driving attitude to that and say, you know, I don’t have to feel these anxious feelings. I don’t have to think these anxious thoughts. I can get up I can walk to the kitchen, I can get some water, I can wash dishes, I can make something to eat, put something on the stove to cook on low, that kind of thing. And then I can go back to work and one step at a time. One activity one action at a time until the task is done. I don’t have to sit in that anxiety.
I can tap on my body on myself. I usually tap around my collarbone Okay, the K37 point works. I can do my breathing. And now with WildFit. I’m doing the 5-5-5-5 breathing they teach and allowing that force of nature, even the 4-4-4 breath or 5-7-8 works too. I’ve decided I’m going to try to check out something new here. So on my way home, I’m going to make another new planned stop down the street called, Village of the Arts.
But I just wanted to really get that thought out there that medical doctors are just practicing. My dad used to say they bury their mistakes. Haha. Thank you for dropping that one. And just because my hands don’t get hot when I practice breaking, I’m simply continuing to go and I’m continuing to flow the energy. I’m a slow FLOW-er. I’m a flow-er of energy. And that’s really all I am right now. I’m flowing energy. As I feel it. I’m letting it flow through me as if and as it comes through my hands. I’m trusting and I have faith that it is and I do some movements that I’ve learned and practiced and sometimes just intuitively come to me to help him ever I am performing Reiki on.
One last thought when I hit the button to start transcribing this, I had a thought about if we all flow energy, if we all are present, why do we need priests? Why do we need pastors? And how many people sit in their depression? Sit in their loneliness or committed suicide? And the Pope, the priest, the pastor, they’re not there. They’re not there. So, why do we have these people?
Well, they’re an accumulation or like I said earlier, they’re stacked upon stack upon stack. There are people that are standing on other people’s shoulders and they reach something and go get to where they are. But are they any better than any of the rest of us? Do I really need them? My conclusion is no. We don’t. And I’ve even went so far as to call for the dismantling of churches, which has gotten me into a bit of trouble and have some friends and family members have unfollowed or blocked me on social media. So be it.
I just don’t believe in continuing to support religious institutions that are culpable of many ills, abuses, and wars. I mean, we’ve had the Protestants and Catholics fighting and killing each other in Ireland. They’re both supposedly Christian. Why in the world would they be killing each other? Why? Over a dogma! Over a way, a method of doing something! Killing each other over how they choose to practice and preach the gospel, or of not spreading the gospel? You know, I mean, it just seems to me to be a bit ridiculous.
So no, I don’t think we need these kinds of organizations. If you want to use the church because it makes you feel better you want to go assemble together, because it makes you FEEL stronger. Okay. You feel the churches are there in times of crisis, and you’ll actually go and use them. You’ll actually allow that community to support you and to correct you. And offer you guidance solutions, potential new ideas and open expand your awareness, expand your consciousness, provide limitless potentials, opportunities, possibilities, and that’s great. If indeed that helps strengthen you, okay. But I think you’re stronger than that as you always have God’s Omniscience Spirit within you. Please don’t deny the Power of God within you.

A couple years ago, especially after visiting Ireland, England, and Scotland (on our Sacred Celtic Journey with Patricia McGivern), I found myself using symbols daily in one way or another—mostly as my signature in social media comments.
My signature symbols ❤️🦋🌀〰️
Why?
Perhaps due to the spiral symbols of Knowth and Newgrange informed me sooo much (and reconnected me to the Reiki power symbol I use when sending love and healing vibes to someone (or myself). Or because of my natural spiral curly hair! Ha!

Some of you remember I treated myself to this energetic Celtic pendant that I have worn everyday since I bought it in Dublin, Ireland. That’s when we took our second trip to Ireland (a few months after the first trip), because I had won the Newgrange lottery to go into the chamber for Winter Solstice 2019—also, by the way, the last days the public has been allowed in the chamber!

Now, since I may never get back to Scotland again, I have Connected with a wonderful new friend who lives in Edinburgh Scotland and makes these beautiful pieces: Enya James.

Churches
Today, I was cleaning a PartyLite church I had bought from my daughter (back when she used to sell PartyLite stuff), and the thought hit me:
“I don’t even like most church buildings or temples, etc because WE humans ARE THE CHURCH!”
So, why don’t I just clean up this statue = graven image and give it away?
Hmmm.
And I sat with this thought while I went back to work on some documentation.
A couple hours later, a thought (or Aha moment) dropped into my mind:
“Because it reminds me of my daughter, my past experiences while attending the church ⛪️ of my youth with my family, my grandfather and uncle building churches, AND the chapel at Rosslyn!”
I will let it go. And I will know the right time for me to do so. And I will gift it to someone with lots of love attached, instead of my current vibration of, “I don’t like church buildings.”
You may remember some of my previous church rants/posts like this one. Enough said about that.
I actually have more recent notes about stuff I just learned that also pisses me off about how some church buildings are built by the congregants financial contributions (and hands on TIME), but then when the building is SOLD, the head church or corporate church or whatever you want to call it, KEEPS ALL THE MONEY!!! Grrr. S
“Sheila, quit your bitching!”—is what I have to tell myself. All those contributions of money and time were given freely of the people as a tithe or service to God. But then what does the world church do with the money? Grrr! “Sheila, Let it Go.” ❤️🦋🌀〰️🔥🙏☯️

It ALL belongs to God.
Right.
And Omniscience SEES ALL.
God will deal with the money grubbers.
Okay.
Hmmm
Blessed BE.
It’s not up to me to resolve the injustices of the world. Hopefully, those churches will feed the hungry and clothe the naked. God knows they don’t want to house them (in their locked churches). ❤️🙏🤦
Perhaps the stones are more my “church” anyway? Stonehenge sure Connected me. Inner heaven to the peace on Earth (during my meditation there). And I am eternally grateful. ❤️🦋🌀〰️🔥🙏☯️

This is a question I am currently pondering: What would a day in Jesus’ life look like if He walked the earth NOW?
Would His disciples be glued to their smartphones, while sitting in Jesus’ presence?
Would He or His disciples watch TV, listen to the radio, talk on the phone, play video games, or get caught up in any “distractions”?
Would He still wear sandals, shoes, or walk barefoot?
Would Jesus own property? Maybe somewhere Off Grid, where He could commune with nature?
Would Jesus eat processed food, or grow His own food?
Would Jesus preach and teach from different churches or homes? Tent revivals? Sacred ancient sites? Beaches? Street corners? Speak on social media?
Would Jesus drive, or walk? Ride a bicycle, or have his disciples drive him around? Perhaps use public transportation?
How many hours a day would Jesus pray? Would He meditate?
Would Jesus watch or play sports of any kind?
How would Jesus CONNECT people?
Did Jesus want people to WORSHIP Him?
Fast and pray, meditating on ALL. We are thankful. Unnecessary things and habits can fall away. We can see with REAL EYES. ❤️🦋🌀🙏☯️
Please let me know your thoughts in the comments below! ❤️🦋🌀🎼🙏☯️
Many blessings to you in ALL ways. ❤️🦋🌀〰️

So, just what is all the interest in conspiracy theories?
Why can’t governments and authoritarian agencies be up front and open about things that affect us ALL?
Transparency cures conspiracy
I’ve told people for years that if the “powers that be” would just be more transparent in their dealings, there would be no need for conspiracy theories, indeed they would not exist.
But people are smart. People who are deep thinkers will always be peeking in the shadows, poking around, and probing for answers, especially when certain things, “don’t add up.”
Compartmentalization
The military, the government, corporate entities, churches, ALL organized institutions compartmentalize. Why?
It is often said, “The right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing” in regard to these organizations. And that is all due to compartmentalization.
Shhh…
Think about all those levels of government clearances. Why is there a need for multiple different levels of clearance? There are many levels—even levels above Top Secret.
Do you want to know a secret?
It seems everybody wants to know a secret. The Beatles even had a top-selling song about a secret. And of course there was a mega hit book and movie called, The Secret.
People love secrets
What’s the fascination with secrets? What is so attractive about keeping and figuring out secrets? Why is it human nature to want to hold some kind of knowledge over others’ heads? Power? Control? Ego? Ugh!
If there were no secrets, there would be no conspiracies!
Is transparency or secrecy a pillar of Freedom?
Definition of Conspiracy

The fences (rules) of the religions of the world are somewhat similar. Have you noticed that?
Defining the rules
By definition, the rules of religion are the dogma, doctrine, or set of beliefs taught by a religious entity, whether that be a denomination, or sect. Of course, political parties, institutions of higher education, civic organizations and others can have dogmatic rules of order too, but for purposes of this discussion, I’ll limit my scope to faith oriented groups.
The rules of engagement can be based on written texts, such as the Holy Bible, of which exist a variety of translations and versions, but also taught by example. Before written texts, the rules were passed down through repetitive stories.
If you attend a synagogue, mosque, or church, you by no doubt, know there are many rules you should follow–whether you believe in all of them or not.
Walled church
Short version: Fences (rules) are restricting.
Is it any wonder that we are so divided?
I believe we’ve been restricted (and segregated) for far too long. It is time to think deeper, broader.
When I think of God, I’m referring to LIMITLESS Omniscience. I use the name “God” in this article as it is the most widely known name to represent the Highest Sacred diety, Creator, or Source.
Every religion seems to define God differently. Some, even say that God is the personage of Jesus–and then go about portraying Jesus in different ways. Even with all the variety of beliefs, I stand by the fact that We Are All Connected. And I feel people (with or without faith) have more in common than we realize.
To me, the point is that each of us should be a living testimony of God because we are a fractal of Omniscience. Taking care of our body temple, aligning with our soul, mastering our mind, thoughts, heart, emotions, and impulses. The Kingdom of God is in our own hands. Omniscience looks upon our heart and sees our intentions.
My intention by writing this article is to open the eyes of some, and provide you with a broader understanding of your neighbor. You know, the one you’ve been taught to Love.
The long version:
Thus, here are the GENERAL RULES (noting if applicable to specific religions) I discovered that can keep followers fenced in (like a herd of sheep) to a particular faith.
Defining God. Speaking of God, who is God? The organization will tell you, in fact, preach to you, about their idea of who and what God is and if there’s only one, or many. Who are WE to attempt to define God? How presumptuous of us mere humans!
Defining Heaven. Everything about what Heaven is and how to get in is taught to you via your religion. There are rules specific to that, which are primarily the rules of the religious organization, because that’s the goal of most organized religions.
Holy Book. Almost every organized religion or faith, has a Holy book, whether it be a Bible, Book of Morman, Doctrine & Covenants, Qur’an, Hadith, Torah (Pentateuch), Tanach, Mishnah, Talmud and Midrash, Upanishads, Vedas, Bhagavad Gita, Tao Te Ching, Sutras, Tripitaka, or other. There are many Holy books, yet most people are only aware of a fraction of these, much less have they bothered to read from any of them. And then, within these books, there are hundreds of various translations.
Remember that pretend phone game most of us learned in elementary school where each would whisper a word in the child’s ear next to you? By the time the word was passed around the circle, the word at the end was totally different than the word spoken in the beginning! It’s kind of like that when it comes to gaining any kind of understanding of God from one version of one book. And books can divide, especially when one group says their book describes the ONLY way to God and Heaven.
Know the “Word of God.” Whatever scripture the religion uses, you’d better read it, know it, memorize it and such, so you’ll not be tempted to go in any other direction. And only read the specific translation the faith deems “true.” Far be it from you to read any other scripture, indeed your religion will likely tell you that any other spiritual type of work is devilish.
Beliefs. Do good things. Follow the commands. And if you don’t, confess your sins to someone else and ask God to forgive you. God forbid you do anything wrong = sin. And saying there’s no God (blasphemy), well, that will land you right in some eternal burning lake of fire. Eeks!
Fellowship. It feels good to congregate with people of like-mind. And they want to keep you thinking the same way. If you think or speak outside of the box, you’ll receive everything from a discouraging look to a stern lecture. Of course each congregation tends to segregate and limit who can attend.
Membership. Following attendance, but with stricter rules, is membership. Once you’ve been attending for awhile you are invited to become a privileged “member.” And once invited, you had better become a member, else, be damned. Once a member, never question your membership or you run the high risk of being booted out, ostracized, banished, or worse. Some faiths go so far as to ever let you see your family again, as is the case with the Amish and Scientologists.
Money. To keep the faith going, build and maintain churches, pay the clergy, and so on, members are highly encouraged to donate 10 percent (or some certain set percentage) of money in tithes to the organization. And unless you serve on the budget committee, you are never to question where the money goes.
Recruit. The religion must grow and keep their numbers up–to keep the money flowing in and the morale up. By keeping morale high, it sets the organization up for boasting that their God is bigger than another organization’s God.
Conversely, though the religion wants to grow, many will limit who can join. This is limiting, restrictive, and such a paradox!
Symbology. Some might call these statues, icons, idols, monuments, totems, or other types of engraved symbols that memorialize and pay tribute to the religion. There are caves, paintings, geometric designs (circles, spirals, wheels, and crosses) roads, hills, alters, man made items (rugs, mats, knives, beads, stained glass), celestial bodies (like the sun, moon, and stars), statues of saints or other revered entities. The list is nearly endless. If you can observe it and draw it, it’s probably associated with some religion.
Rituals. Or not. Being quiet, making certain sounds, singing, dancing, smudging, standing, sitting, or kneeling at prescribed times and places and with a certain goal in mind (to either reach or please God, or the essence of our soul). Placing hands together in prayer pose, kneeling on one or both knees, or using prayer beads (Catholics), or prayer rugs or mats (Muslims). And of course, the rituals of blessings, baptisms, and confessing one to another or to a priest (someone who’s supposed to be living a righteous life).
Prayer. Some sort of memorized prayers, or rites and methods are often taught. Along with the previous ritual involved in praying, whether it be how to pray, when to pray (at a certain time of day or night), kneeling, standing, or lying flat on the ground. In the Islamic religion prayers are directional–always toward Mecca.
Thoughts. Speaking of prayer, we are not only taught to pray, but what words make up a good prayer. We are always asking for something. Usually for ourselves more than for others, but of course, praying for a better situation for others is supposed to be the best prayers, as what we ask God to do for others, God will also do for us.
Meditation. Most Western religions do not allow meditation, either in church or outside of it. (Unity based organizations allow and encourage meditation.) Sometimes an organization will use the term meditation, but it’s use is defined by meditating on a particular scripture passage (Christian) or mantra (Hinduism). We wouldn’t want you falling into a deep mental abyss.
Clothing. Every organized religions loves to set a standard dress code, whether by written rule or by peer pressure. Each member promotes the standard to visitors begin to conform over time. Naturally, (cough) God deserves to see us in our best attire. And for the ladies, modest attire–typically a dress that covers most of the body. Some prescribe head coverings.
Buildings. The members typically always meet in a building, whether it be a church, synagogue, temple, spiritual center, ashram, or other. This almost always involves meeting in a building that someone will need to pay for, and maintain, which leads members to believe that donations and tithes must be given without question.
Security. Lock it up. Protect it. Only go to the religious building when it’s open. And be on time. The building is there for groups, not for individuals or families to take shelter during a crisis. Their insurance rates would go up. This is perhaps one of the most ludicrous reasons for NOT believing that worshippers need an assembly building in which to meet. Talk about FAITH! Oh, ye of little faith! Do you not remember that EVERYTHING belongs to God?Defend it. Similar to Security, Membership, and Recruitment, followers of various religions typically feel the need to defend the belief. Why? Will the dogma of the faith fall apart without people ready and willing to sacrifice all to defend it?
Timing. This rule goes hand in hand with rituals and having to go into buildings. Don’t go in or out, stay seated until you are directed to stand or kneel, and exit at the end of the service in an orderly fashion.
Children. This could also come under the heading of Behavior. Don’t allow your children to be disruptive during any assembly meeting. Children must obey their parents and guardians.
Joy. Don’t smile too much, or be too happy. Serving God is serious business. Someone might think you’re up to something if you’re always joyful.
Curiousity. Don’t bother asking any tough spiritual questions. And never talk down, back to, or get uppity with any member of the clergy.
Adherence. Be sure to follow all of the rules to the best of your ability, never mind what the preacher, priest, or other leader is doing (pay no attention to the man behind the curtain). All religions teach some sort of “right action.”
Needs. Look how far down the list we find “needs.” Is it any wonder so many of us have a hard time when it comes to “receiving”?
When you need help (for a health, spiritual, family, relationship, or financial matter) call the clergy.
Do you do that? If not, why not?
Don’t you believe that they’ll be there for you? Isn’t that one of their primary duties, beside getting to know who God is, studying, and healing people? The clergy is supposed to be there for you in your time of need. They exist in these roles to pray with you, instruct, and guide you in right action. They’re supposed to visit with you in your home if need be. They’re even supposed to offer you monetary support when you need it (though it’s likely they won’t pay your bills).
Did I miss anything?
I’d like this to be an open dialogue, so please comment of any rules I missed, or rules you feel you should follow that I haven’t mentioned.
As I’ve written before, an Omniscient LIMITLESS God, Creator, Source Energy can never be fully understood as that would be like trying to see every glint of sun on every wave in the ocean, and more—all at the same time.
I believe for every question there is an answer, but that those answers will not cover every question because there are limitless scenarios in which one could ask the same question, thus putting a different spin on the answer.
Christians believe Jesus will return, but then they don’t believe in reincarnation. And that sounds like a logic problem to me.
NOTE: I credit my beloved mother with the phrase, “fences of religion.” How can that be? Well, I woke up early the morning of Oct. 25th, 2018, after a dream I’d had of my mother (who’s part of the Grand Beyond). In the dream, mom inspired me (and has prodded me a few times since) to write this blog article. We’re all part of Omniscience, believe it or not. Omniscience isn’t a belief to me, it’s a knowing. And the more I connect and align to the essence of my soul, the more I feel the “realness” of that knowing. OM
Tear down the fences and love one another right now. ❤️🦋🌀
We Are All Connected. OM
Many blessings to you in ALL ways.

I’ve attended many different church services (of different religions) over the years, and I have found some common thinking among them.
I love learning about God and all means of connecting with our Creator. I don’t search because I haven’t found God, I search because there’s so many different ways to connect with God!
But, in all of those churches, there were some preachers who said things I didn’t like (meaning that I found some of the things they said divisive. Their sermons didn’t resonate as positive. Phrases such as:
“We’re right, they’re wrong”
“We are the only church preaching the true gospel”
“We’re the only ones baptizing the correct way”
“All other religions are wrong“
Those statements seemed contrary to my nature and what God put upon my heart and some were contradictory to what Jesus said (or have been attributed to Jesus) in the Bible.
When I asked some of the followers of these various churches about the things their preacher taught, they most often replied: “I may not believe everything the church, religion, or my preacher teaches, but I follow the basic tenets and leave the rest.”
I asked them why they would continue to attend (or belong) to a church or faith that did not align with their beliefs. Most would answer something along the lines of:
“I stay out of respect for my spouse, parents, grandparents, etc.”
“The preacher is smarter, more studied, etc. than me”
“I’ve gone to this church my whole life and changing now would be too difficult”
“Perhaps I’m being convicted and have more to learn here”
I came upon the statement of: “Take what you need and leave the rest” when I attended several different 12 step recovery programs (during a time when an ex-spouse was dealing with substance abuse and his doctor wanted our family to undergo therapy).
The concept reminded me of what those church goers told me years before, so I began applying the “take what you need, and leave the rest” concept to many things in life. Truly, in all of my research and study I have not found anyone who “knows it all,” so that phrase has helped me open to more. I have not found anyone who has a perfect life, or “has it all,” (no matter how you define the words: perfect and all).
I’ve written before about my maternal grandparents–whom raised my mother and her siblings in a particular faith–that taught belief in an Almighty, Living God. One of the most challenging aspects of that Christian faith is how many other people, even other Christians, called that church a cult! But, had I not been raised in that faith, I would not have experienced the healing power of God via “laying on of hands,” (the first and most powerful Source of Energy Medicine).
In fact, I was healed of colitis, when I was young, because my mom knew to call upon the elders of the church to pray for me.
To explain a bit more, when I was about seven or eight years of age, there was a time when I experienced severe abdominal pain, cramping, bloating, and difficulty eliminating (all symptoms of colitis). My mother took me to the hospital emergency room. During the physical examination, I became hysterical because of one particular method the doctor used, which nearly scared me to death, and physically hurt!
I think my shrieks and cries of pain reminded my mom that our family typically prayedfirst and asked for laying on of hands by the elders (totally calming and non-invasive), before we would go to a doctor or hospital. So, she took me home and called the elders of the church to come and administer laying on of hands to me. After their prayer, I never experienced any more symptoms of colitis!
NOTE: The doctor had prescribed some paregoric Kaopectate that a pharmacist had to compound for me, along with an enema. The interesting thing to me now, about his recommendation of the enema, is that had we believed in having colonics / colon hydrotherapy or enemas on a regular basis and right ways of eating, I never would have been in that situation to begin with!
I should also mention, at this point, that I recognize in some emergency instances intensive allopathic medical interventions may be necessary. I do not mean for anyone to throw the baby out with the bathwater so to speak and throw all allopathic medicine to the curb.
All healing comes from God and God allows doctors, nurses, and healers (including allopathic practitioners) to possess abilities and skills that help people. However, in my experience, prayer is the mostpowerful thing we can do. And the Mind, Body, and Spirit sciences are proving this!
I have had friends and family who prayed, and then went to the doctor. I am not judging that. God works in all ways, often mysterious! God can heal you on the way to the doctor! The important distinction is: Ask God first! Ask and continue asking. Then be open to receive God’s answer.
Do not judge or condemn others who believe differently than you, as they have their own path. If you believe God lives in you, they may also believe God lives within them!
When you argue with anyone about their beliefs, the vibration of that interaction actually runs counter to what God wants which, is for all peoples to live in peace acknowledging Creator God.
If you want to open to receive more, the Bible teaches:
“Study to show yourself approved to God…”
“Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…”
As for the religion of my youth, while I feel it beautifully served me well for a time, I am continuing to seek wisdom by following the pulsing sensation (“God bumps”) I feel in my body when God, our Source, our Creator confirms to me, that I am on the path. I’ve learned that judgment does not resonate with me. Holism speaks to me.
Now, “church” for me, occurs anytime I talk with at least one other person about our LIMITLESS Ever-Living Filling-All-Space Creator. And I continue to research and study. I find much in the new Sciences, and the study of ancient ways–thrilling! To me it all validates God, it does not negate God.
Darwinian evolution theory is out – disproven. Science still does not know where we came from, but chromosome 2 in our DNA proves we did not evolve from ape-man.
The school books are WRONG.
Currently, I am reconnecting with things that interested me as a child. Because I used to love archeology and dinosaurs I began listening to Gregg Braden. I enjoyed his recent interview about his book Deep Truth – (click on the words Deep Truth to watch his video on YouTube) or watch the interview I saw on GaiamTV.
Gregg’s interview led me to explore this site, about heart-based coherence: Global Coherence
I follow and study the work and writing of many enlightened people. To me, this is a topic I will be able to study the rest of my life. There’s soooo very much to learn!
In all things I wish you love, peace, and many blessings. In fact, everything you have and all that is around you right now (even any suffering you may be experiencing) is with you for a reason. Let it open and bless you.
My intention with ALL that I write is that you will receive it in a way that feels good to you (and in alignment with your inner being–soul).
Take what you need, leave the rest.
Thank you and Namaste.
