Reality is ONLY what we perceive

This is a comparison of two thoughts –

Crazy people don’t know they’re crazy.

AND

What IS a lie?

I’m an analyst by nature. But I am also creative! I taught myself how to draw anime and paint. I like to make sense of things. I am a seeker. Always attempting to understand.

Because I’m an analyst, I keep my eyes and ears open when others (though I was trained at an early age to “tune people out”) are spewing crap and I try to figure out what prompts them to do so. What are the intentions behind their actions? Do they INTEND to hurt people?

Why?

Let’s look at the LARGER expanded context. The way I perceive a statement (which might be true for you) may not ring true for me?

The Merriam-Webster definition of a lie is: “To make an untrue statement with intent to deceive” and “to create a false or misleading impression”.

Ah, then a lie really is your perception of reality that differs from my perception of reality. Agreement is never found within a lie. A lie separates people.

It’s the reason I always say there are multiple sides to every story. But wait! Do not use my words against me. You can’t purposely hurt someone, lie about it, and then say I am the one who’s not hearing YOUR side. You can’t do that. It doesn’t work that way. Because? Crazy people don’t know they’re crazy.

Just because we know there are multiple facets to each person, each event, each statement in life, does not give you license to hurt people.

Jesus Christ was quoted as saying, “you shall know a tree by its fruit”. To determine if you are on your right path, look at the fruits of your current activities. (References: Matthew 7:16, Matthew 7:17, Matthew 7:20, Matthew 12:33, Luke 6:43, Luke 6:44, and John 15:4)

I am sure if you take a good long look at yourself in a mirror, looking deeply into your OWN eyes – then sitting quietly in prayer and meditation seeking to know if you have hurt anyone, then you may glimpse if you are the healer, OR if you are the PROBLEM.

No one is perfect, and that is a healing statement. Forgiveness is HUGE, and I do forgive those who have purposely hurt me (or my family or friends) because I know we’re all spirit experiencing being human.

There are troublemakers and there are peacemakers. If you look at the fruit of your life, you’ll know which you are.

I am a peacemaker. You know this by looking at the fruits of my life.

When others use us, lie, cause trouble for us – the peacemakers all to often carry that crap around, thinking we caused it somehow. But, I am finding that peacemakers did not cause it – those problems are not ours. It’s negative energy and unhealthy. Don’t carry around any problem that is not yours.

I’ve been living by, and thinking in agreement with these two mantras for many years:

“Everything happens for a reason.”

and

“I wouldn’t be the person I am today, without all of the experiences I’ve had (thus far) in my life”.

However, this is a PROCESS, there is NO COMPLETION or finish line.

So, because this is a process, I am always seeking ways to “let go” of the past, even if the past was yesterday, because my perception of reality is that people can be hurtful. People lie, gossip, cut me off in traffic, etc. which is why I love energy medicine!

Energy medicine is so helpful, on many levels. It allows the cells of our body to let go of negative experiences, so they do not get STUCK in the body and manifest into dis-ease.

That said, recently I experienced an aMaZiNg healing energy medicine session with Dr. Alison J Kay!! We really broke through some very old sh*t (past trauma / guilt of a negative situation) and I was empowered to let go of some very deep emotions that consciously I had thought I had done all my forgiveness work on (years ago) but apparently the cells of my body (scientist Candace Pert proved cells hold memories) had NOT! Dr. Kay cleared my heart chakra in this session and WOW! Haha! Healing is such a PROCESS!

It FELT sooo good to get that heaviness out of my heart! It was really like we did a heart chakra colonic! Why did I ever think that hurtful person’s actions were mine?

I accept FULL responsibility for what I allow to happen in my life. I know there’s VALUE in everything, though some experiences FEEL better than others. And sometimes, it takes years to be able to find the value of certain people or experiences we’ve known.

Since we cannot control everything in our lives, it’s good to realize and focus on this: What I give out, returns to me – like the ripples from a pebble thrown into a pond. That is why it is so much better to focus on what feels good (pointed in LOVE) than what feels bad (pointed in FEAR).

  • Do not make trouble for people.
  • Mind your own business
  • Do not gossip.
  • Go back and read the Ten Commandments (those weren’t just “suggestions”). If you’re not into the Bible, look at the results of your actions.

When you throw a pebble in the water, the ripples extend and touch much more than you know. But know this, the ripples return to their source. What you dish out, will return to you – it is a universal LAW. So, “send them love”. In any situation or circumstance – just send them LOVE.

If your heart is pointed in the direction of LOVE, you will be a blessing to others, not a curse. Watch the movie Maleficent– it’s something to think about.

If you’ve read this far, perhaps you’re a healer and peacemaker also. Thank you.

If you want one more way to know whether you’re motivated by love or fear – ask yourself the following questions on any particular issue you’re facing:

  • Is there any value in my association with this (person, place, or thing)?
  • Is this (person, place, or thing) really necessary in my life?
  • How does it feel to me when I think of this (person, place, or thing)?

Once you’ve answered these questions for yourself, you’ll know what to do. Follow what feels lighter (vs. heavier). Always, in all ways, go forward, move ahead – doing what FEELS GOOD!

You can suffer if you want to. But, if you want to experience greater health, go in the direction that FEELS good to YOU.

In the name of our Limitless, Ever-Living, Omniscient, Omnipresent, Omnipotent, Pulsating, Be-ing, Creator Source God who IS the Energy that holds the Universe together. Beyond what we can see. Beyond what we now know. Faith IS the substance of things not yet seen.

In ALL ways, BE a blessing.

Namaste.

Living a blessed, blissful, and happy life in balance

To live a blessed, blissful, joyous, and happy life, to me, means living life in balance, squeezing all the juice out of life in the present moment while aware and conscious of God, (Source, Holy Spirit, Energy, Creator), the Divine Presence that is all around and through us. I refer to God as, Omniscience.

My work

My “work” (day job) is not just what I do Monday through Friday each week to earn a paycheck. My job provides me the time to learn how things work, including how I respond to challenges and stress. My work environment often causes me to consciously acknowledge how energy works because I find many contrasts there!

❤️🦋🌀

My main and utmost job though, is to myself. To grow my inner being, true nature. I work on mySelf on spiritual and energetic levels.

Live blessed and blissful in balance

God Bumps

I focus as Spirit leads me, where I feel the internal bodily sensation of “God Bumps” (thrill bumps, chills, tingles, and ripple-like feelings).

The more I feel these God Bumps (or GodBumps) the more that sensation occurs whenever I meet, have a conversation with, or sit in the presence of other beings who are also on a path of enlightenment.

God Bumps are my way of describing how “aligned energy” feels, as it resonates within my body. Typically, this “energy alignment” brings me to the present moment, to be conscious of the fact that I am a spiritual being (with a soul), having an earthly experience.

I seek out (and visit again and again) the people and places, that cause me to feel God Bumps. I believe I feel these sensations because I am an empath. I actually feel it, when I make a soul connection with someone. I also blog (write) about it! Click here for my other articles.

Not above or below

I’ve always held a belief that no one is more worthy–of spiritual enlightenment, fame, a huge salary, or any other so-called measure of success–than anyone else. More is going on.

I’ve always felt some sort of injustice, while reading about the huge salaries and bonuses some people receive, while many others are barely making ends meet. Do some people really work harder, smarter, than the rest of us? Clearly different classes of people have always existed through history. A few who live very well, while many thousands, even millions subsist.

Also, I have prayed for the upliftment of religious leaders caught up in scandalous activities. Not that everyone who is a spiritual leader or teacher is perfect (save one), but I hold such leaders to a higher standard – and I think many of us feel that way.

Jesus – The Christ

Speaking of the perfect one, I was brought to the knowledge of our Holy savior, Christ Jesus of Nazareth when I was young. My mother taught me of Jesus’ perfection as He was/is God made flesh. I am of the mind that God made Jesus to show us the true way of enlightenment – and how we are all energy.

Jesus did not look upon illness or dis-ease, He saw us in our whole (Holy) state of being. That is so when you study of His many miracles. He asked the lame to “take up thy bed and walk” because the man had to believe he COULD walk – before being able TO walk! Jesus already knew the man COULD walk, that walking was within the man’s ability. Jesus healed the woman (or helped her to experience her healing) who merely touched His garment because she reached out to Him by faith. Remember the Holy scriptures tell us that Jesus said, “your faith has made you whole.”

Jesus came to show us, teach us, of our inner Holy/wholly state, (our divinity) – but sadly many people still do not “get it.” That is why He said, “Many will come in My name, but deny the power thereof.” Power = energy.

Energy

Energy separates us from the inanimate objects man creates. We cannot breathe life / energy into anything we make.

Our babies get their Spirit, energy, breath from God, Divine Source. God breathes and works through us and all living things.

Earning and Worthiness

We are all inherently worthy to have our needs met – even our desires.

If one person can somehow manage to “earn” a billion dollars, then others must also be capable. If one person is able to feed millions, others must also be able. At least the possibility of attaining our desire is possible.

I believe we have a great responsibility. Not only to take care of ourselves so we can help others, but to acknowledge our connectedness. We can attain wonderful health. We can attain wealth – understanding that wealth means different things to people.

I know some will not receive my words so well, because they believe some have more advantages, are stronger, more driven, or smarter than others, but that is really coming from a lack mentality. I believe all have the potential to succeed in life, even those who are told they have some sort of disability. We are only limited by our thoughts and imagination. We are limited when we do not understand, do not know, that it’s ALL energy.

We are Energy. Every living thing on this planet has energy running through it.

Examples

Once at Disney I was asked “what is innovation”? At the time all I could think of was, it’s the entire scope, big picture – larger than any one invention. I wasn’t complete in my answer.

Innovation is taking other things, and putting them together in new ways.

We are innovations – energy building blocks put together in different ways, we look different and speak different languages, believe different things, but the common thread among us is the foundational component of ENERGY. So in this very magical way – we are all connected and able to help, sustain, and heal each other. We are called to recognize and honor this fundamental knowing.

I also worked with a lovely gal who reminded me to use the essential oils that I had. The oils had helped me so much in 2005 to release asthma from my body, and because they aren’t processed through the liver, one can heal without putting a load on that crucial organ.

If you have difficulty letting go, work to heal your liver, as it is a storage place for anger, resentment, bitterness, hatred, jealousy, envy, addictions, and a host of destructive feelings.

I learned to place a drop of Release oil blend on my belly to ease stored emotions from the liver. Of course, drinking half your body weight in ounces of pure water daily and doing a liver cleanse is helpful too.

My Calling and True Nature

I believe working with Energy is my true nature, my calling.

Energy is fully functioning, omnipresent, and omniscient in our being. Dis-ease is when we disconnect (for whatever reason) from it.

With every breath, God. With every heartbeat God. Pray without ceasing. The best prayer you could ever say is: “Thank You.”

The reason I love “laying on of hands”, and other healing energy work, is because it honors and places our Creator, Source, God as our supreme healer. We put our ego aside and ourselves in neutral–healing intentions unattached to the outcome.

I worship God when I pray or in other ways, work to assist others in the health and healing of their bodies. This is why my quest is to learn more about energy healing and resonant frequencies. Ever on the look out for how I can better assist others.

The most wonderful masterful healers I have discovered include (yet not limited to):

Joan Massey (Affordable Acupuncture, South Carolina)

Alison J. Kay (Healer, author, radio show host, coach)

Dr. Laurie Zakresky (Divine Books, Madeira Beach)

Dr. Bauduin (passed away) but had done tremendous natural healing work at Madeira Beach Center for Natural Medicine

My daily mission is: to consistently and joyfully manage the contrast between the things that frustrate me, (which cause me to ask for improvements in my spiritual, yet earthbound experience), and reach for better feeling thoughts. Doing so assists me in keeping my body at ease to receive the divine blessings God has in store for me (which, Jesus came to show as our birthright).

In other words: To be joyfully aware of LIMITLESS, Filling-All-Space, Creator Omniscience in every present moment.

To me, this is the sum total of living a blessed, blissful, joyous, and happy life – everyday, no matter the circumstances.

Always remember we walk by faith. Conscious in every present moment. We walk in Light and are never alone. We are all connected.

Namaste and love,

Sheila

Just what is Reiki, Shamanism, and Qigong?

Reiki, Shamanism, and Qigong

I thought I would take a few minutes to plop down my thoughts about these healing modalities.

Reiki, Shamanism, and Qigong

Here’s some research and links, plus lessons from my personal experience:

Reiki

1) Reiki promotes self-healing by helping one relax and reduce stress. From Japan, Reiki uses beautiful symbols which a practitioner “paints” in the air / aura around the client. I have both been a client and attended two classes. It is amazing to feel the heat / warmth on specific areas of your body when you are seated, eyes closed, and have no idea where the Reiki master is until you feel the heat. Reiki is not magical but may be mystical depending upon your interpretation. Since my upbringing included a faith that taught “laying on of hands”, AND present day revelation, I have no fear of spiritual types of healing (because everything originates from God, Source, Divine) and in fact, I embrace all healing modalities! Reiki is often translated to mean, “Spiritually guided life force energy”.

Shamanism

2) A shaman is a person with a gift for healing, a person who has practiced bridging the natural and supernatural to effect change in one’s health. A shaman may also be a priest, monk, or tribal medicine man/woman. The shaman I met did not go into a trance, did not bang a drum, or dress weird. Too many times people let misguided perceptions of what alternative natural healers “may be like” and totally miss a blessing!! Profound health and guidance comes through healers not a pill.

Qigong

3) Qigong is a powerful healing and energy medicine from China. It dates back to between 2500 – 5000 years. There are different Qigong applications.

  1. Healing Qigong, sometimes called medical Qigong helps the client understand and know how to work with one’s own energy system to balance and prevent dis-ease.
  2. This is the one I experienced. External Qi healing funnels energy through the body, from the head to the feet – actually pushing or detoxing illness down the legs and out the feet!
  3. Sports Qigong – the one most familiar to those who practice the martial arts. Also, people learn this for improved golf games, increased agility, accuracy, and stamina while playing sports.
  4. Spiritual Qigong – most associated with spiritual and self-awareness, most likely evolving from Taoism and Buddhism.

Blending the modalities

I had an amazing visit with Dr. Laurie Zakresky. She performs a blend of modalities of healing. She intuitively learns what you have need of and applies what will help.

In the treatment room, you lay fully clothed, shoes off, on a massage table. Typically massage or meditation type music is playing in the background. The Reiki, Shaman, or Qigong practitioner will move hands near your body, and sometimes pull on your feet, or touch you lightly on pressure points. There is no massage or such happening.

You may experience a warmth / heat, tingling, or other physical feeling when the practitioner passes hands near your body. You will notice, often very soon, that whatever ill symptoms you had, will lighten or leave your body. I felt tingling in my legs and feet. I also was a bit lightheaded when I got up to leave. By the time the hour session ended, some sinus issues I had were completely gone and I felt quite relaxed. I was instructed to continue pressure point tapping for a couple of issues and to drink more water.

Dr. Laurie not only showed me where my pressure points were, and how many times to tap them, etc. but also provided me paper instructions of exactly where to tap on my body so I wouldn’t forget. There was no charge for healing services, however, gifts are always appreciated and of course, she has a store full of wonderful items so it would bless you both if you found anything to purchase.

I will be spreading the word about Dr. Laurie and the Divine Books store. The store sells books, crystals, soaps, natural candles and scented wax “melts”, a kind of pure room air freshener, cards, gifts, and more.

If you’re in the St. Petersburg, Florida area and have any health issue, I hope you will call her to arrange an appointment.

Peace, love, and unity. We are all connected.

Lou-Lou and Beau, my “kids with fur”

About our fur babies

Preface: I’d been told that when you’re in recovery, it was a good thing to get a dog. I had no idea what I was in for, or what a huge commitment I was making! 🙂 Over the years, I was going to observe and learn a lot from my two doggies, “kids with fur”, or “fur babies.” Oh yes, a lot!

Receiving them into my life

I bought Beau from my cousin, while she was working as a long distance trucker. She also bred Shih-Tzu’s. Her mom and dad brought Beau to me (via a long drive on her mom’s lap) from WV to FL when Beau was only 6 weeks old.

I don’t recall if my cousin told me this, or it just seemed to me to be the case, but Beau must have been the runt of the litter. Always quiet and unassuming, he would let the other puppies walk all over him. At least that always proved to be the situation when we introduced him to our spirited and challenging female Shih-Tzu, Lou-Lou.

Lou-Lou was about a year old when a friend of mine convinced me she should have a playmate or mate as it were. I actually registered Beau with AKC under the name, “Lou-Lou’s Beau”.

Lou-Lou was the alpha of the two. They had two litters of puppies together when Beau was about 2 or 3 years old. My cousin told me to be careful that Beau didn’t hurt the puppies. But that never happened. Beau would help Lou-Lou keep all the puppies clean. He was the best dad!!

I had both Lou-Lou and Beau spayed and neutered after that second litter. Later we would come to learn that an accidental pregnancy (too soon after her first) would put severe strain on Lou-Lou’s health. She lived to 12 years of age, mostly because we ate an excellent raw diet and because she was so strong-willed. She had always experienced recurring bladder issues (which meant lots of trips to the vet for us), and finally succumbed due to a combination of complications from arthritis, infections, and more.

Conversely, Beau, has always been easy-going. He’s so polite in fact, he waits to be invited up on the couch! (Now I have to lift him up on the couch). Up until this year, he wouldn’t remain on the couch when I would get up for a few seconds to grab a drink or something! (I have to lift him from the couch to the floor now). He has never had an accident in the house, unless ill. He never barks. He never scratches anything. (Well, he did a couple times, no idea why). He never begs. Okay, maybe a little! He’s really just the perfect “man.” LOL

Lessons they taught me

Beau has taught me much about life, and continues to. He never sees a stranger. Beau is totally the social butterfly! 🙂 His eyesight has deteriorated now, so his behavior has changed some. He is more concerned with the smell of things than who is walking near us. But he used to make me a tad bit jealous, because he could just take off, go to anyone, and leave me behind without a second thought. In fact, I am quite sure of that. I am the one that superimposes my human ideas onto him.

Lessons my fur kids taught me

Beau introduced me to many of our neighbors, some even when they were outside (and did not have a dog)! He’d just go over as far as I would allow (on leash) and stand, until I acknowledged the neighbor, or admonished Beau that it was time for us to go home.

He’s more fond of adults than children but he’ll put up with kids petting him – though he gives me a look sometimes like, they’re not his type! LOL. Of course he’s always gentle. Only rarely does he come upon another dog that he doesn’t like. I always find that amusing and feel it must be a “vibe thing.”

Letting go

When we had to say good-bye to Lou-Lou December 2012, Beau never missed a beat. He didn’t display any sadness. Perhaps he knew it was just time. I think he’d really known much sooner than I that it was time for her to “move on” to another plane of existence. At any rate, he seemed relieved.

She had always shared food and they ate together well, but she had to get on the shared doggie bed first, get it all ruffled “just right”, before Beau could lay down. When I came home from work, she had to be on my lap first, get leashed for walking first, absorb the most of my time, and grab all the attention (she was a barker) with neighbors and other dogs when we walked. Many of our walks were stressful just because she would bark and carry on when other dogs walked by. I even took her to doggie training to try and curb her behavior. It worked – for awhile.

Now, all the focus is on Beau. And I promised Lou-Lou it would be – on our last trip to the veterinarian.

I had to fight many battles for her with different veterinarian’s over the years as her bladder issues reoccurred. I developed anxiety over even having to take her to the doctor. I had to learn it was never about me. It was always about her and I had to determine eventually that my intention was the same as the doctors we saw – to help her whatever we had to do. Granted everyone has to make money but for the most part, those who I had accused of just wanting to make more money from me, well, maybe they just didn’t know any other way to treat her than do many tests (eventually we did all the tests we could) but I struggled with that – a lot.

In the end sadly, to help her – when on top of everything her arthritis was too much for her to even allow me to gently bathe her – the best I could do for her was to make that final decision.

For a year, I had carried her up and down our steps for every walk because she couldn’t make it on her own. Now, I carry Beau as his eyesight is failing him. But thankfully he is pretty healthy otherwise – no arthritis.

Taking good care

My intention continues to be ensuring the best quality of health and life for Beau and I believe I’ve found the best healthcare providers to partner with me. Thank you so much Dr. Rumore and Lisa at Lake Seminole Animal Hospital. Your “petside” manner and love for animals is heartwarming and so very important.

Something I Don’t Talk About…

Something I don’t talk about

When I was a child

I distinctly recall a night, many years ago, while mom was driving us home – I became intrigued by power lines along the road. I gazed out the window and mused about electricity, or better yet, energy. I’ve never publicly discussed this memory before.

All things Energy interest me
All things Energy interest me

I remember reverse engineering the power process. While looking at those electric lines I mentally traced the energy flowing from pole to pole, all the way to our house. I wondered where the source was. I asked mom, “how does the energy come through these lines to our house, to the street lights, etc.?” I think this must have surprised her, because I don’t think she had an answer for me. Or perhaps whatever answer she provided didn’t resolve my curiosity. I somehow intrinsically became aware the seemingly endless supply of power to our home via these electric lines and I was transfixed, totally mesmerized as to how it worked. I also felt connected to this somehow. I yearned to understand.

From my now perspective

Looking back, I’m surprised I didn’t seek work for a power company – but my first job was waiting tables. And my first college course was electronics. (For years I’ve credited my interest in electronics to my dad who ran a CB radio business on the side from our home). Now I believe this early experience was the catalyst of “why” I wanted to learn about electronics, computers, and more specifically, frequency.

Now, all things energy interest me. Anything and everything about it. Bioenergy, particles and waves, energy healing, etc.

However, my career to date has been – computers. Early on I wanted to build them, I was fascinated with the early circuit boards. I loved using meter tools to measure how much power it took to make small lights (LEDs) come on, etc. But when that didn’t work out, I started selling computers – as well as, providing setup, delivery, and training.

Selling computers (coupled with that first electronics class) led me to a job where I could learn more, involving inputting data into database systems. My natural ability to put people at ease and be inquisitive, along with many  influential people helped along the way:

  • An unknown RCA technician man who told me “if you wear glasses now you won’t want to work on what’s coming” (and what was coming was surface mount technology)
  • My friend Margie who took me by the hand and pushed me to register for that electronics course
  • An acquaintance who suggested I apply for a job at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University as we drove by on the way to pick up carpet out of his small plane which, I had offered to clean
  • Bill Gates, love him or not – I’ve had a wonderful career due to Microsoft operating systems / software

Not long after I bought my first personal computer I began developing websites, and learning how to configure sections, or modules, of large and complex database systems – some proprietary and some commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software applications. The end result though was to always fulfill my clients’ needs. Most of the time my needs were met too – that of being able to work with energy – in a box kind of way.

I think in terms of “processes.” I’m always looking for ways, even when out and about, where I could take a manual process and add electronics to aid in the ease of doing something. My “process thinking” helps me quickly analyze business needs, and work at an eager pace to provide value to clients to help work flow better.

Speaking of “flow”, that brings me back full circle to where this conversation began – the flow of energy through those electric lines which, first grabbed my attention when I was just five or six years old.

Health Benefits of Raw Juice Fasting or Feasting

TakeItUponYourself small logo

Health benefits I noted during and immediately following my 40 day juice fast:

  • My body began to feel “lighter” by day 3
  • I noticed the skin on my arms got significantly softer by day 3
  • I felt my mind getting clearer by day 5
  • The skin on my face became so clear by day 7 – my coworkers began to comment
  • Overall my skin became so soft by day 14 it was amazing – even elbows and feet!
  • Some rough skin that had been on each side of my nose disappeared also!
  • Moles shrank by at least 50% or more all over my body (not that I had very many but just sayin’)
  • The whites of my eyes got noticeably whiter
  • I lost 12-15 lbs but most noticeably I dropped two pant sizes

About the fast:

I will also write an article on my Orlando Health and Beauty Examiner blog but I wanted to speak a bit less formal here.

Since learning that raw food is the cleanest and best food to eat, vibrationally speaking,  I chose to limit my juice fasting to raw food (adding only a bit of cultured dairy if I become too weak since I am working 40 hours and driving 10 hours weekly during the fast).

I noticed some days I became a bit more irritable and had less patience with people. However, I used those times to look at myself and really ponder why that was happening. Though my health has been relatively good for seven to eight years now, I believe the fast boosted my immune system. There had been a cold going around and I thought I might pick it up by within 3 days (mid – fast, otherwise I would have attributed it to detoxing) any small cold symptom I thought I might be experiencing – was gone.

This fast cleaned my body of toxins, junk in the gut, and overall brought my body to a healthier level. I inspired three other people, so far that I know of, to embark upon a week long fast.

In addition to the juice fasting, I did the daily dry skin brushing that all juice fasting blogs and articles discuss, as well as colon cleansing 2-3 times a week.

A few days I experienced some dizziness. Those days I also added one 16 ounce Suero Viv (which is an organic whey beverage) to my daily intake. I also believe if you have need for any probiotic that a bite of the raw chedder bites cheese from Beyond Organic would also be good to take, though if you can go without it that is fine too.

Everyone is different and some folks may prefer to add a probiotic capsule to their intake a week or two after beginning the fast.

Disclaimer: Before beginning this type of fast, please consult with a health and wellness practitioner of your choice.

Focus of attention is needed to attain any desire.

As of 4/6/13 I successfully completed my 40 day juice fast, or as some call it… a juice feast! I was sooo happy to have completed this quest and feel absolutely light and wonderful! Spiritual Insights During 40 Day Juice Fast

TakeItUponYourself small logo

The following are a collection of spiritual insights I noted during my 40 day juice fast:

  • The more I explore life, the simpler it becomes
  • Let he who hath ears, let him hear
  • We grow as blades of grass, up through the earth
  • Be as the blade of grass, grow through the dirt
  • Dirt, or earth, is analogous to all resistance we encounter
  • The more I accept lovingly what is, the more I can receive
  • Life is short, do what you love
  • You truly can bloom where you are planted
  • Be grateful – for everything
  • Every thought can be a prayer
  • You cannot say “thank you” enough times each day
  • Saying or thinking “thank you” in every moment is enlightenment
  • I am of Native American descent, this is why I have such deeply rooted feelings about “ownership” of anything
  • No one owns their so-called “land.” Think about it. We really don’t.
  • Tear down the fences and love one another
  • Don’t yell at me – what is all the yelling for? You do not control me.
  • Reality is ONLY what we perceive
  • Unplug to walk my dog, plug into God
  • God is everywhere
  • Space is everywhere
  • Space is not void
  • God exists in the space
  • In everything there is space (think molecules)
  • There is no path to “Everywhere”
  • No path is required, nor building either
  • No dogma is required, only faith
  • Faith is the substance of all things hoped for, things yet unseen
  • Faith IS a substance
  • When you pray, your faith becomes it (your faith has made you WHOLE)
  • God exists in all
  • Breathe, let God in
  • Breathe, let God
  • Breathe, let go
  • We do not create space
  • Space just is
  • We do not create God
  • God just is
  • Think good, think God, thank God – the difference one letter makes
  • I am a circle, a diamond, a mandala
  • As a diamond has facets, so do you, at least a few are glistening, shining
  • I can be grateful even for the muddy / milky facets of others, as it causes me to ask / hope for improvement
  • We are as a tapestry, all the stories of our lives weave a pattern
  • God sees all of our facets, all of our challenges and complexities
  • God knows all of our possibilities, our potential
  • Like electricity to a switch, it is up to each of us to allow pure positive energy to flow, or switch it off
  • Switching off pure positive source energy causes dis-ease in the body
  • God sees us all as a whole, in a perfect state of well-being
  • Jesus healed by not seeing (accepting) the dis-ease – faith makes one whole
  • Jesus saw our perfection, wholeness so dis-ease just “fell away” in his presence
  • We are mirrors of each other
  • No two people can ever experience anything the same way
  • You hold the probability to be nice, or the probability not to be
  • I appreciate all the probabilities you hold within you
  • God really is an aWEsOMe life-force, energy, Creator, Immanence, All-pervading, Ever-Living, Omniscience.
  • No one is perfect, not even our teachers, so let’s just drop that word and stop striving for that
  • We are ALL on a journey and one day we shall see everyone’s intentions

About the fast:

My belief is that I must be tuned EXACTLY to the right frequency or I will not clearly RECEIVE the signal and the best way (for me) to clear out the clutter of my mind, is to find something strong to focus on, in this case, my will not to eat. This fast has allowed me better reception.

I chose a 40 day fast because 40 days is a significant number in the Bible and because I have been reading about several others juice fasting experiences, and 40 seems to be the number of days most have been successful completing.

Bible references to 40 days:

      • Genesis 7:4 – It rained 40 days and 40 nights during the Great Flood
      • Genesis 8: 3-8 – Noah sent out the raven 40 days after the waters receded and the Ark settled on Mount Ararat
      • Genesis 25: 20 – Isaac married Rebecca when he was 40 years old
      • Genesis 26: 34 – Esau was 40 years old when he married his two wives
      • Genesis 16: 35-6 – The Israelites ate manna for 40 years while wandering in the desert
      • Exodus 24: 18 – Moses spent 40 days and nights on Mount Sinai before returning with the original commandments
      • Exodus 24: 28 –  Moses returns and fasts for 40 days and 40 nights
      • Numbers 13: 25 – The scouts from the 12 tribes spied out the Promised Land 40 days before they returned a bad report
      • Numbers 14: 33; Deuteronomy 29: 4 – Therefore, the Israelites were required to spend 40 years “wandering” in the wilderness
      • Numbers 13: 5; Joshua 14: 7 – Joshua was 40 years old when he spied with the scouts
      • 1 Samuel 17: 16 – Goliath “taunted” Israel 40 days before his defeat by David
      • 2 Samuel 5: 4- King David reigned for 40 years
      • 1 Kings 11: 42 – King Solomon reigned for 40 years
      • Jonah 3: 4 – Jonah preacahed to Nineveh for 40 days before they repented
      • 1 Kings 19: 8 – Elijah fasted 40 days in the wilderness
      • Leviticus 12: 1-4 & Luke 2: 22-4 – Purification of Mary is 40 days after birth of Jesus
      • Matthew 4: 1-2 – Jesus spent 40 days Fasting in the Desert after His baptism
      • Acts 1: 3 – Jesus also spent 40 days on earth following His Resurrection
      • Jesus, by tradition, spent 40 hours in the tomb.

The above Bible list reference was noted in, and with thanks to: Richard “Rick” Torretto author of Divine Mercy and the Biblical Significance of 40 Days.

Since learning that raw food is the cleanest and best food to eat, vibrationally speaking,  I chose to limit my juice fasting to raw food (adding only a bit of cultured dairy if I become too weak since I am working 40 hours and driving 10 hours weekly during the fast).

Health wise, this fast will serve to clean my body of toxins, junk in the gut, and overall bring my body to a healthier level. I’ve also inspired at least one coworker to embark upon a 10 day fast.

Focus of attention is needed to attain any desire.

As of 4/6/13 I successfully completed my 40 day juice fast, or as some call it… a juice feast! I was sooo happy to have completed this quest and feel absolutely light and wonderful!

As of 12/7/14 I have completed  seven weeks of juice fasting and souping. I am only counting because at some point in the future I want to be able to look back and acknowledge all of this but I plan to live this way. The way I describe my current program is: Raw juice fast all day, every day. Then for the early evening “meal” have one bowl of soup (primarily made up of organic vegetables, lentils, or chili).

I am making this conscious choice in order to:

  • Reset my body’s hunger clock
  • Reset my priorities
  • Allow myself more time for prayer, meditation, writing, while not needing to consider so much what I eat
  • Observe my habits and decide any I want to change
  • Determine what foods cause inflammation in my body (that I will never eat again)
    • Flour and yeast products cause me issues so no more bread, biscuits, cake, etc.
  • Determine what foods allow my body to reach my ideal weight / shape and feel its best

People tell me more insights may come to me in the weeks that follow so as those insights come, and I’ve continued sharing them in this blog and in my books.

Decision Making, Risk Taking, and Accepting Responsibility for Choices

Decision Making, Risk Taking, and Accepting Responsibility

Yes, I know the title is long. I haven’t posted anything in my self analysis section in awhile because I’ve been busy. Went to Connecticut to visit my beautiful one year old granddaughter. Left a job. Began a new job. Got involved with “another” multi-level marketing (MLM) business.

Excuses?

These sound like excuses don’t they? Maybe they are or maybe they’re valid reasons. In either case, it’s me, explaining myself to you. But why? I don’t owe anyone an explanation especially since this is my blog and I write for the love of writing. That’s the point – people tend to “explain” themselves to everyone all the time.

Explanations

Explaining. We all do this to some degree or another – every day. We typically explain ourselves even to people who really aren’t all that important in our lives. What a waste of energy!

Energy drain

Do you know that when we explain our choices we drain ourselves of energy? Most of us “explainers” are strong “people-pleasers”. We often care more about what others think of us, than we think of ourselves. We do this out of a need to feel ACCEPTED.

Beliefs

We believe we can’t be happy (accept ourselves) unless a) we make others happy, or b) we need others to make us happy. And that’s simply not true. We can CHOOSE to BEHAPPY. All on our own. No one else needs to DO anything for us, nor do we need to do anything for anyone else.

What a concept!

Do you know where your true JOY comes from?

Being happy with yourself. Accept yourself. Be happy with your life – your journey. If you’re not happy perhaps you’ve made some wrong choices or put yourself in a situation you’d rather not be in. I say “wrong choices” only because ultimately your choices didn’t make you happy! But you learned life lessons. Perhaps you’re feeling sorry for yourself. Give yourself credit for who you are NOW.

Learn and Choose

Choice

You can make a very powerful choice. You can choose to be happy amidst whatever circumstances you find yourself in or you can choose to make different choices.

Sit still – right where you are… for a few minutes and just – BE.

Think of all of the good things in your life. Times when you made wonderful choices. You have every reason in the world to be happy!

There have been times in my life when my supervisor or manager at work wondered why I didn’t make decisions. Typically it was because I was waiting on something or someone to do something first. When I read this article it perfectly explained that situation. I didn’t make certain work decisions because I was waiting for someone’s approval. All that waiting was so draining. And it also seemed that sometimes I’d make a decision only to be criticized (sometimes severely). It put me in the vicious cycle of never being able to win. We’ve all heard people say, “no matter what I do – I can’t win” or “you can’t please everyone”. And that was me – until now.

I make work decisions based upon a risk taking matrix. In the most basic terms it goes something like this:

  • Is this decision in my best interest? (You sacrifice yourself and your happiness if whatever decision your making is for someone, anyone else.)
  • Is this choice best for the company? (This includes considering all ethics, laws, etc.)
  • In 20, 50, or 100 years will this matter?
  • What is the worst that could happen?

I recognize and accept responsibility. Making a wrong decision almost always can be reversed – if the need is great enough. And I do not work in a field where lives depend upon my decisions. Point is, if the decision is mine to make – I must make it with the best information I understand at the time not necessarily by considering “the need to please others”. There is a time and place for building consensus among team members but this is not the focus of this post.

It’s no wonder people-pleasers have a hard time trusting their own intuition. They’ve been waiting on someone else to do something – anything to relieve them of the need to “make a decision.” I have actually known people who cannot decide upon what restaurant to eat at, or even what item to order once they get there!

A former manager I worked with a few years ago told me one of the traits he looks for in those he promotes is the ability to make a decision! His statement still rings in my ears.

Fear

How many people are scared to make a decision?

We must learn to become risk takers and accept responsibility for our choices if we ever hope to become enlightened and be our best most joyous self.

Blocks

I have blocked my own energy and creative power in the past by feeling a deep need to always explain myself. I am now learning to be much more aware and when I feel the need to explain I think for a moment and reason it out.

I begin to think different thoughts.

Happy thoughts.

It sounds easy enough as I write this, but I tell you – in the moment it’s not so easy.

I almost have to force myself to smile first, before I can guide my thoughts to something happy. People that aren’t “explainers” probably would have no idea what I’m talking about.

In control

The other day a person said something to me in front of others that I didn’t like. I felt the need to explain my side but I didn’t. I felt all of the emotions (due to my thoughts) about the experience well up inside me, my face grew hot, and though I didn’t look in a mirror I knew my chest and neck were probably red, but by gradually and systematically changing my thoughts (changing my focus) within less than five minutes I felt back in control. Empowered. No need to explain. No need to get angry. No need to do anything.

Think about what is most important in your life. Who is most important in your life. Put yourself and how you feel – with the goal to be happy – first. Notice the better you feel – the better you feel. Why? To feel better! In turn, you and those you love will feel better too. People around you pick up on your energy. We Are All Connected whether you realize it or not.

If someone is consistently draining you of your energy you only have two choices. Let whatever they say roll off of you as easily as water rolls off a ducks back. Or let the person (or job) go – out of your life.

When someone dissatisfies me in any way, I tell myself, “thank you for helping me make a better decision.” If it happens to be because of some poor service in a restaurant I choose not to go back. If it’s a business situation, I end the association. I’ve quit going to particular service providers. Changed doctors. You name it.

There’s plenty of options out there and I’m not going to stick around someone or remain in a situation that’s not in my best interest. Why would I? I don’t want to come home and complain to my spouse about things I certainly am adult enough to change.

I am quite sure that my words may not teach you how to make decisions, take risks, or accept responsibility for your choices. You may choose to completely disagree with me and that’s okay. I won’t try to change you. 🙂

We Vote with Our Dollars

Vote with Dollars

The older I get the more I see why it matters where we put our money. We vote with our dollars. Each time we spend a dollar on this or that, businesses profit from it. We can make or break a business by our shopping habits.

When we save, the money stays in the bank or under the bed not doing us any good in the moment but down the road (if we’ve stored it somewhere we are being paid interest) then it may grow into a larger sum of money and  be there for us to use at a later time. I’m not sure if it will be worth anymore because inflation seems to bite into whatever interest was made. And if you had it under the bed you’d end up with that same amount of money but it wouldn’t be worth as much as when you stowed it.

So, back to the point.

Vote with your Dollars

Spending money

Why spend money? Spending keeps people working. When you spend, others have the use of your money. And remember you exchanged your time for that money.

There’s a real relationship between time and money.

If you want to keep the economy moving – spend. If you want to slow the economy – don’t spend.

When you buy a car there is a ripple effect. Others benefit from your having bought the car. And the benefits may be direct or indirect. It reminds me of something I heard awhile back. If a butterfly flaps its wings on one side of the world, does it cause a hurricane on the other?

Support small businesses

Considering small businesses. If someone makes a product or provides a service I feel is good, I continue supporting that business. I will also tell others (word of mouth marketing) about the business and what excellent product or service they provided. I may promote the product or service provider on blogs, websites,  Facebook, etc. All of those good and positive words help that business grow. Conversely if I am not pleased with a business I will also talk about it – and like the butterfly flapping its wings on one side of the planet, it could cause a ripple effect, the likes of which, that business cannot imagine.

If that one negative customer influences several others the business will experience a drop in sales. Enough mad customers could bring down the business – maybe bankrupt is too harsh a word. But if you’re a business owner or service provider and you’re not doing so well, you ought to consider how good you are or if you’ve ticked off a few people. That’s why the old adage came to be – “the customer is always right.” Yes, the customer is always right. If you don’t think that’s true and you own a business let me educate you.

Dissatisfaction costs businesses money

You don’t want your customer to leave dissatisfied.

If you hear any hint of dissatisfaction you’d better step up and make it right. I’m sure you don’t want people blogging about your business in a negative way. And if you don’t care – then you’ve really got problems. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Some people are hard to please. But you’re in business and you need to strive to ensure your customers have a high opinion of you. You cannot control what they say about you but you will go a long way towards having them say nice things about you if you show them you care and will go the extra mile to meet or beat their expectations.

Animals are democratic

Have you ever noticed that the animal world votes in a democratic fashion? If a herd of 100 deer need to get to the watering hole, it’s the 51st animal who influences the whole herd to move in the direction of the water at precisely the right time. Check out the red deer study. I’ve noticed that birds of a feather also flock together – it’s not just an old saying. Have you watched a flock flying and notice how many turn, seemingly at the exact same time, then the rest follow suit almost immediately? Flocking together seems to be the birds way of voting and it is instinctual.

People are habitual

People are also instinctual as well as, habitual. Most people stick with others, whether it be friends, jobs, neighborhoods, cities, or such out of habit and comfort. We stick with what and who we know. Keep us happy and we’ll be around for awhile. Tick us off and we probably won’t feel comfortable and eventually we’ll leave. And we will probably tell others (in some cases a lot of others).

Making it work

If you want friends, customers, and good relationships be nice. Go the extra mile. Live up to your word. Meet or beat others expectations of you. Show you care. That’s what makes it all work.

Are we real? Perceptions of Reality

Are we real? Perceptions of Reality

There are many reasons why I pose the question, “are we real”? What brings me to this question? If we are real, how real are we? This might get deep. (Updated as new thoughts emerge.)

  • People exist in some material form since we displace space and the weight of us makes an impression, thanks to gravity on the Earth
  • People breathe
  • People process take substances in & expel substances out of our bodies
  • People think (have awareness, observe, analyze, and judge)
  • People feel
  • People communicate (or attempt to)
  • People procreate
  • People make stuff

Interestingly people can create things, but they cannot create LIFE. They can procreate only other human beings. Babies are the only other living entities we can create. Yet, we often care more about non-living things than we about any other living organism.

Is there a source or a creator?

You may answer differently, but for me, as intricate and finely tuned, balanced, as life is – I believe in God, Creator, Source. The master of the source code. And I am beginning to have a sense of the incredible enormity of “God.”

Examples

In the first Men in Black movie, Tommy Lee Jones’ character “K” told Will Smith’s character “J”, “A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it. Fifteen hundred years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you’ll know tomorrow.”

That line sparked an intrigue in me. Thus, I crafted this post.

If we believe individuals are smart, but masses of people are dumb it explains why we have governments and politics to guide the masses. Does that explain why individuals and groups help others (during crisis situations) seemingly with no thought of gain?

For example, good samaritans don’t take time to consider if they will get paid, or honored in any way, before they rush to help someone – they may often risk life or limb to help someone just for the sake of helping.

Yet, individuals argue over relatively stupid and short lived issues. Situations that in five, ten, or twenty years will not matter one iota.

Is motivation a factor? Large groups tend to be motivated by money. Perhaps at first, when the group was small the motivation was pure charity. However, as the group grows larger, greed sets in.

It’s electric

Our bodies are electrically charged. This is why when two people have a conversation, or shared thought / mindset they may say to each other, “ah, we’re on the same wavelength”! Speaking of “being on the same wavelength,” I never feel good during any kind of confrontation. Do you?

I feel the disharmony in the energy of the confrontation. Why?

I think it’s because we’re supposed to live in harmonious resonance with each other. I think it’s because a state of joy and well being are supposed to be our “normal” mode of operation. I believe we’re energetic beings.

Science has proven our bodies are electric. How can we profess to be people of any faith, go to worship God somewhere, on any prescribed day (usually a day that our prescribed faith deems appropriate), yet fairly soon upon leaving the sanctuary, cuss someone out who cuts us off in traffic, belittle a child, tell a lie, fight with a loved one, etc.

I’m sure you can think of other incidents that carry more negative charges. Why?

Didn’t we just hear a sermon or speech that in some way impressed upon us the importance of “loving”, i.e. “love thy neighbor as thyself”?

Sitting at a stop light the other day, I had the experience of looking back just as a man three cars behind me in traffic got out of his car, and apparently, while shouting (I couldn’t hear him but I could see his mouth moving), he pointed his finger, and shook his hand and arm at the driver in front of him.

What made me look back at just that precise moment?

Did I sense the energy coming my way?

It almost felt as though I was feeling his anger on an animal instinctual level.

I prayed the light would change so I could just move on.

Many faiths teach, Love

Christians have many scriptures devoted to love and forgiveness of others who wrong us in some way, “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” (1 John 4:8 NIV), and “Father forgive them, they know not what they do” (Luke 23:34), as well as, “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-7).

Muslims know these scriptures from the Quran: “God loves those who: do good (Quran 2:195), are pure and clean (Quran 2:222), are righteous (Quran 3:76), are just and act rightly (Quran 5:42), trust Him (Quran 3:159), are patient and persevering (Quran 3:146), love Him and follow the prophet (Quran 3:31), and fight in His cause (Quran 61:4).

Hindu’s teach that one should love, not expecting anything in return.

Sikhism teaches that only those who love will attain God.

The Unification faith teaches true love as the center of their theology.

Tibetan Buddhism teaches of salvation from achieving unselfish love for others.

Why then with all of this love being taught and believed, is the opposite experienced at all in the world?

Consider this

I watched this YouTube video which speculates an answer to the question, “are we real” – Click here.

The video sways back and forth between natural laws proving there is a God, Creator, or Designer – and not. That our universe, even just our world, can all be explained mathematically.

As a technical person, an analyst, I have studied a lot of math in the course of my career and education. I’ve also studied, and talked with a lot of people who believe differently. I’ve learned to appreciate and value diversity – not just tolerate it.

“Think different” is the Apple slogan. You may be familiar with that from watching commercials on TV.

I say it’s good to contemplate subjects from a variety of viewpoints.

Actions that speak volumes

“Just do it”, is the Nike slogan – which tries to entice people to get moving (in their athletic shoes of course). So back to religion.

Many faiths, instruct us to pray, meditate, worship, sit in silence. Why? When we quiet our mind, we still our thoughts. When we still our thoughts we stop negative unproductive thoughts. Perhaps true creativity comes to us at this point. We become “available to spirit.” We aren’t doing anything but breathing.

Could God be in the breath? (Remember the very air we breathe is made up of molecules of oxygen, hydrogen, argon, nitrogen, carbon, water vapor and other gases – and also there is empty space between all molecules).

I am learning when I “just breathe” and focus on my breathing that my body relaxes and I think better.

Why?

Where do our thoughts come from?

Science is finding our thoughts come from outside of our brain – but they still do not understand how our brains work. I believe our brains are both a transmitter and a receiver. And our children are blank computers that we program, with every action, every word, and I dare say, with every thought that we think aimed in their direction or perhaps within their vicinity.

I’ve learned by watching my first granddaughter (born in late 2011) that she attempts to communicate to those around her in non verbal ways. I’ve watched in amazement when she understood what we were saying to her, though she has yet to figure out how to work her tongue to form the words on her lips.

When you gaze at someone, someone that is not looking at you, perhaps across a room, why do they turn and look at you – often within just a few seconds? You know those times. Often when it happens we quickly turn away because we don’t want them to wonder why we were watching them. I believe it’s because we’re transmitting a thought toward them, wondering about them, judging them, speculating about them.

We are all connected

Space is not empty. And considering that space is everywhere, within our universe, within our body, within all cells, and molecules, of course space isn’t empty. There is a framework within so called empty space. Could God be the space? Or the framework? God is omni right? Omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscience. Perhaps our thoughts ride that framework.

Watch the video movie – it’s free. Then comment and let me know what you get out of it. I’m curious.

I’m speculating that we are indeed real, but that reality may not be what we’ve thought.

Since computers were created science has had time to consider how electricity, turning on and off circuits very fast can store information and “do” things. All computer programs are a series of ones and zeros = on and off, true and false. That’s all it is folks (I’ve been working with and on computers for more than twenty years).

The Facebook website and all those games and computer applications you love so much are only programs made up of ones and zeros.

The Bible states that God created the simple things to confound the wise.

Could it be that our very thoughts set into motion vibrations, traveling upon frequencies (on a framework) that allows all of what we see around us to materialize?

Simple, yet complex

My mind is overwhelmed when I consider, even for a few moments, how intricate, how complex, and beautiful – and living all of creation is. I bet there are color frequencies, for example, in existence our brains are not able to interpret.

Perhaps we’re energy?

Once, a little old lady told me not to wear my watch (because it had a battery in it) on my left wrist. She said that energy enters the body through the left hand and out the right hand. (Years later I learned this is different for a man than it is for a woman.) And she said, the battery current would block energy from entering my body. I was astounded! And why did she tell me this? I don’t know. I’d never met her before – it was a brief encounter while I was working in retail.

Later on, I had an experience while ill, that I was to put my palms together as I prayed for my healing. I did. I recovered.

I felt that in my future, someway, somehow, I should explain to others this experience and all the reasons that it’s so important.

When we pray, we put the palm of one hand against the palm of the other. Simply, this small act connects a circuit of energy. This means there is a very real reason why we put our hands together.

Notice that when people say namaste and put their hands together in prayer form over their hearts it signifies how we honor the spirit of the other person. Asian people put their hands together when they bow in greeting each other.

Applying logic, perhaps holding hands would also be immensely important to transmit thoughts, feelings, emotions, to another.

Ah, imagine what a hug does! (There’s been some studies on that also that are breathtakingly fascinating!)

Speaking of frequencies, consider all visual and audio information rides upon frequencies and our eyes and ears receive – then our brain interprets.

This means everything we see, is light that falls onto our eyes and our brain then interprets the frequency resolving a mathematical computation based upon all of the former input (learning based on relationships, patterns, and associated meanings) in order to paint the picture that you see! The way this happens is similar to how a television antenna picks up a  frequency and presents it to your TV set, allowing you to watch it.

First there was only black and white TV. Then color. Now, high definition.

Why?

Because we’re always pushing the envelope – exploring and creating equipment which is continually improving the interpretation of the signals! Now consider, some of us dream in color – sometimes the colors are quite vivid – almost real.

Take it upon yourself to be the best you, that you want to be. May God allow you to see everything that is. Search. Question. Dream, believe, and achieve. Live. Laugh. Love. Breathe.

Practicing patience

Practicing patience

I went for a massage last Saturday and it seems my Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) was having “one of those days.”

Do you know what I mean?

She was experiencing one of those days where lots of little things were going wrong. I could relate because I’ve been having one of those days for a couple of weeks. And when I am carrying a lot of tension, a massage is one of life’s luxuries that I feel is a necessity.

As it turned out, there was a message in the massage.

The message

My LMT started relating her experiences to me from her early morning. Since I felt I might be able to help her, and so, she wouldn’t take it out too much in the process of performing massage on me, I decided to listen closely. When she had fully vented, I began to offer her some cheerful comments to perhaps, lift her mood. At least I thought I would.

As she talked, we both began to realize what the issue was, and we both needed to learn and remind ourselves to practice… patience. Ah, a lesson and a great massage too!

The practice

She and I, maybe many of us, need to practice patience. Everyday. And there is work in that, I can tell you!

Perhaps we say we have patience. Maybe we have patience with ourselves, but get annoyed with others when they don’t move as fast as we want them to, do the job correctly the first time, or trust us to live up to our word. I’ve been told by people I’ve worked with over the years that I have “the patience of Job.” (Referring to the biblical story of Job.) So, I’ll give you a Bible verse I like, Matthew 6:8

Now, I know this verse has been and could continue to be interpreted and applied in many ways to our every day life. The way I like to think of it is, since God knows what we have need of before we ask then God doesn’t want us to worry.

Worry

Worry makes us sick.

Worry tires us.

When we’re rushing around, we’re worried that we aren’t going to get something done, meet someone, or get some place, on time.

We worry we’ll be late for a very important date. Why?

Worry implies we care more about what someone else thinks of us, than we think of ourselves.

How patience releases worry

So, I’m practicing patience. To let go of the need to please others. Sure, I like to arrive at work on time. And I like to show my boss that I go about urgent tasks, with a sense of urgency. However, all that stress, day after day, leads me to stress my body. It only hurts me in the long run.

I don’t know about you but I can’t remember ever getting a raise, or promotion due to rushing around.

Yes, consistent good performance, and meeting milestones at work – actually accomplishing things, that can bring rewards but I can always take time to breathe, to focus, to strive to understand, know the details – even if that takes me a few minutes longer. Taking my time means my work will be done correctly. Rushing may lead to errors. I’d rather have my work be clear, detailed, and accurate, than fast.

Been there, done that

My LMT wished she hadn’t left her office keys at the post office, when she went to check her mail. Her waiting client was patient with her though, thankfully. Perhaps, he’d once left his keys somewhere.

I bumped into a concrete post and put a small dent in the bumper of my husband’s truck – because I had to drop off my car key to a store that hadn’t correctly installed a part on my car the day before (meaning I shouldn’t have had to return there, had they done their job properly the first time). I’m glad my husband doesn’t get upset over things like that. Whew!

I had a friend damage one of my cars years ago and she didn’t feel a bit sorry! Unfortunately, I was irritated about that incident for a long time. I learned those feelings aren’t good for me to carry around.

A company I’m doing business with is threatening to sue me over a particular clause in a contract that I’d signed too quickly and apparently without fully considering the ramifications. They have no reason to sue me of course as I didn’t break our contract – but because I told them I was unhappy and didn’t want to do business together anymore they’re jumping to conclusions and threatening me. I guess it makes no difference that I’ve acted in good faith with full disclosure. It makes no difference that they’ll continue to make money by my association with them. It doesn’t matter either that they made mistakes – mistakes that have caused me to want to end our relationship. All of that leaves me feeling a bit disempowered, as well as aggravated, annoyed, grumpy, and angry.

Honor our feelings and other people

I’m honoring my feelings by venting and getting it out in the most healthy way I know, writing. I can’t put a positive spin on the experience yet, but because I have faith, I believe I can let go of it – one day.

I believe, as Jesus Christ commanded, it’s important to love our neighbor as ourselves. So I must love myself. I love myself when I honor all of my feelings. I’m not loving myself too much if by rushing around and stressing my body I make myself sick. Or if I deny my anger.

This brings me to my other interpretation of that Bible scripture I quoted previously.

Since God already knows what we have need of that must mean our prayers are only a form of obedience to God’s Word.

Lack mindset

Isn’t it interesting that typical prayers keep us focused on the lack of whatever it is we’re praying for?

Example: when we pray for someone to be healed it’s because they or others have told us they are sick. When we pray for someone to have a safe journey we are thinking of the unsafe things which could occur on their trip. We ought to be praying with FAITH which means… Believing What We’re Asking Has Already Been Accomplished!
Focus and feel we already possess whatever it is we are asking for as if we already have it.
Belief activates faith. Take it upon yourself to practice patience daily and let me know how it works out for you.

Have a Magical Day

It’s seems like a very little thing. But sometimes it’s the little things that count.

I picked up a new tag line for my email signature space. I thanked the coworker (whom I’d copied it from) and let him know that I had decided to use it as well. Instead of “Regards”, or “Sincerely”, it was, “Create a Pleasant Day.” I used it for both for personal and business emails. Then, after accepting a role at Walt Disney World I changed it to, “Create a Magical Day” which, just played on the “Have a Magical Day” Disney slogan. They use it around the parks and we always ended conference calls with that phrase. I always thought it was lovely.

During a children’s program, that happened to be on TV while I was sitting with my grand baby, I heard the actors say something about magic words. Before that time, I’d just been thinking some random thoughts about how we really do create our days based on what we focus on. As the words “hocus pocus” were spoken I thought, Aha! Hocus pocus rhymes with FOCUS!

I’d been focusing on taking my daughter and grand baby back to the airport – they live in New Hampshire – and I knew I shouldn’t be spending any time thinking about that when I only had a few more hours to play with Jennie. Maybe indeed something magical was hidden in the words hocus pocus – were they guideposts to remind us that what we focus on, we give power to, thus we create?

What we focus on – that’s like something I recall from a lot of self help reading, “what we think about, we bring about” I believe is how it goes. And while studying energy work I’ve learned that where thoughts go, energy flows. It’s what’s behind ALL the intention talk.

So, when I sign off my emails, don’t think that I’m being all Disney, Harry Potter, or whatever. It’s just a way for me to remind myself (and maybe others too) that if we want to have a pleasant day, a day of pleasing and being pleased, a day full of joy or bit of bliss – then take few moments and focus on the positive. Think about what you’d like to happen, what might be nice if it worked out, instead of all the other seemingly endless things to nag or complain about. You know what you’re missing and I know what I’m missing but we don’t need to focus on what’s missing. Focus on what we have. Ah, that’s like living in gratitude, isn’t it?

World knows we all have plenty to be down about but what good does that really do? Thinking more pleasant magical thoughts makes me happier – and when I’m happier I bet there’s at least a few people around me who are happier too.
