It’s April 14th, 2024; Here’s an original country blues song about living out on the bayou. The Big Easy gets a nod and those times when someone could get away with disappearing someone. When the ghost of Gator Brown comes walkin’ round… expertly sung by Bubba Hudson and the country blues studio mix gets a well-deserved big ‘Thank You’ too–Steven Cooper, Nashville, TN.

Here’s the one-hundred-fifth new music post for 2024, as I consistently showcase an original song from our 400+ original song catalog. The story of Gator Brown might go either way, but since neither was ever found, well, we’ll never know. This is one of our songs that Richard used to play out Live and it always got a lot of appreciation.

Between listening to this song and having just watched a new Peter Santenello video about New Orleans (I always heard it called, N’awlins though the locals in this video never pronounce it that way, which makes me wonder). For some reason, watching a couple of videos (I’ve got another link a bit further down into this post), it brought to mind ‘rule breakers.’

Rules are made to be broken

When I was young I had heard a phrase about how ‘rules are made to be broken.’ I mused as to why that would be the case. If rules were made to be broken, why have the rules? I guess I was on a spiral path even all those decades ago while I was young. Now, I mostly question the rules.

Why do mystery and intrigue hold interest for us? Especially those of us who were taught to ‘live by the rules’? This video in particular, shows us how many celebrities sell their soul (talk about breaking the rules), for fame and fortune–but as we find out, it doesn’t make them happy.

Kick ass rules

Perhaps we wouldn’t feel like breaking rules if the rules actually made sense and fit life. Let’s look at the following list of rules for kicking ass in life and see if any of these could be broken:

May we all soar in ’24! Here’s to breaking the rules (when necessary), and living FREE!
