FedEx needs to work on their customer service

A big irritation can cause us to make different choices. A little irritation can prompt a blog. As I work to let go of the bigness of the following story, I realize in the big scheme of things, this is a little irritation–though I will not use FedEx again if I have the choice. Writing about what happened helps me feel lighter and soothes the irritation I feel. But I also want FedEx to know they could provide better customer service.. It became glaringly obvious to me (through dealing with them this past week) that a shipper should not offer a pickup service without also providing a label– they are the ones that need the label and have it in their system!

To listen instead of read, play the audio (sorry about the pops in the mic. I’ll work on that for next time):

Reflecting on an irritating task that took all week

Good morning. Good afternoon. Good evening.

I just woke up so I will take this moment to breathe in. Breathe in, breathe in. Breathe in with directed breaths. Breathing in a little more. A little more. filling all of my lungs. My diaphragm. My tummy. Directing the breath to the back of my lungs. Top, front, bottom, belly, hold, hold, hold the breath right up to the tippy top of my head and release the breath. Releasing the breath very slowly, even slower than I brought the breath in. Like I’m breathing out through a straw and very quietly, as quietly as possible. That’s how you know you’re doing it right. And just like my dogs used to shake, or stretch, do the downward dog, get the air into the body. Let all the cells of the body rejuvenate. And then stretch or shake.

What I’ve attempted to write about several times this week, and I haven’t yet–I’m going to give you now. You can’t make this stuff up. (laughing a bit) It’s really funny in retrospect, but at the time, it was frustrating. Isn’t that the way life goes? Sometimes.

So what happened was I had an issue with my work laptop and it needed to go back to the company. And my company deals with FedEx (for shipping). They have a corporate account with FedEx.

Monday

My company sent me an email last Monday. I woke up to that email, saying that FedEx would be here to pick up the laptop. Anytime that day, from like, 9:30 am to eight o’clock at night or something. Okay, but I had no previous notice of that. So I was sitting there reading the email thinking, well, that’s great, but I don’t have a printer to print this label that they’ve emailed me. I don’t have a box. I mean, the laptop originally came in a box that was like storage, a little storage box. It was kind of thin but nice, you know with a little bit of a molded insert in that box. It had a place for the little adapter and such. Right?

So I thought, but I can’t ship it in that. I’ll put it in that box, but I can’t ship it only in that box. I would still need a shipping box. And of course, we don’t have a car so I thought well, I’ll have to Uber or Lyft over to the UPS store to get a box to print the label that was kind of what I was thinking. And then I thought well, you know, let me just let my company know. That I’m just reading the email at 10 am on Monday. And FedEx could be here at any time but I don’t have a printer and I don’t have a car.

So I wrote them back. I thought let me try the Easy, easy way first right? Never known to ask, have not because you asked not most of the time. I emailed this gentleman back who had sent me the email with my company. And I just told him that I said you know I don’t have a car anymore and I don’t have a printer to print this label email me. I appreciate this but I’m just now reading your email. They could be here any time. What do you suggest?

Had I known about a day before a couple of days before whatever. That’s what I would have done right? Go to the UPS store which is a mile away. It’s a little too far for me to walk and print the label and I’d have been prepared in other words, right? He writes me back and said, FedEx probably has a way to print the label–when they pick it up and I believe they even have packaging on the truck. You know that you can pack it when they get there. So I thought okay, cool. Silly me was thinking why else would they have pickup service if they couldn’t help people to package their stuff? Wrong! I’ll get into it in a minute. I decided not to worry about it. We’ll see what happens when they get here.

So that afternoon, I think it was between noon and two o’clock. Nice. FedEx drivers. She stops, lady. Real nice lady. Very informative, and very educational. She takes a look at the laptop. In the box. I had it in the box and everything so she could see exactly what I was shipping back and she said well let me let me go the truck get you a box. Do you have your label I suppose they emailed me a label. I don’t have a printer. Oh, well. She said I can’t print the label. They have to when they put the order in. They have to specify that the driver printed the label. She said there’s a way to do that. And if they do it that way, then I can print the label. She said because I’ve done it for other people but she checked she was on our little handheld machine and she said I can’t print your label. But I’ve printed labels for other people because it comes in from FedEx, from corporate FedEx in a different way. Whatever that means. Right? Now I’m not looking at her machine. How do I know and such but she said hold on let me go and get your box at least you have it boxed up and ready. And then all your company has to do is resubmit for pickup and check the box or fill in you know whatever they have to fill in on there and for me to be able to print the label. So I’m like okay, so I didn’t want to argue the point with her. I’m not gonna tell her how to do her job, nor would I know how to do her job right. But as a systems person, I could imagine that Yes. She was probably right that there was probably a checkbox or the directions or something that when you fill in to have them do the pickup, you can ask the driver to print the label. Mean It only makes sense, right? Why in the world, would FedEx have a pickup service but expect people to have a box and a printer at home to mail their package? It just doesn’t make it’s not logical to me and seems quite ridiculous that they would expect somebody to own a printer if you don’t have a car or a means to go and take the package to a FedEx store.

So that was the first cause of irritation. me thinking through their process and what it should be if you consider customer service and if you consider logic. That’s the way it should go right?

So I put the laptop (she even stands at the door) in the box and she said, “Oh, okay, well does it fit? Is it gonna fit?” I was like yeah, you know, I think if I put this in first and that in next, turn it this way, whatever and she’s like, oh, yeah, and then the box can even pouch out a little bit if you need it to for the AC plug the electrical plug. Because you know those things are a little bulky. Yeah, so I got it in there. She’s like, okay, great. That looks good. So yeah, just have them read and she tells me everything. Again, you know, like I’m an idiot, but whatever. So I listen to that. It’s like a 5-10-minute little chitty chat at the door. Right. And I think or and you know, she’s happy goes, walks away. I’m relatively how much happy or could I be because I’m still dealing with the laptop, right?

So I go back to my new work computer. And I email work and I tell the gentleman, this is what just happened. So he goes to put in a new request. To have them come back the next day to print the labor one he sends me screenshots of what he’s filling in and he said so Sheila, I don’t see where I should be making this request. LOL You know, like he’s trying to have fun with this situation. So I wrote him back and said, Well, what about this area? Can you click there and take another screenshot so that I can see what’s behind it, you know, a little drop-down arrow and stuff like that? So we go back and forth in our email several times. Meanwhile, the lady that I work with, she’s chatting with me and sending me emails too, because I have like regular work to do as well as this (laptop) stuff going on. So I’m kind of handling you know, I’m juggling my tasks, I’m handling things and kind of trying to direct him to which I’ve never requested a FedEx pickup. It was the first time I’m seeing it too.

So I said, “Well, hang on and let me get back to you.” I looked a little bit further. I didn’t Google it or anything like that, which I guess I could have done that would have probably helped. But as I said, I was busy doing other things. So I went back to the label a few minutes later, and I said “Oh, look, here’s a field, which was what I was looking for initially, that you could fill in with text character field.” And it was limiting you to 25 characters, but I thought well, that’s fine. We’ll just say driver, print label. Print upon pickup or something like that, right? It was a free-form text field. So let’s make up something that’s short but descriptive for the driver, right? Or for the company to know to be able to do whatever they need to do on FedEx and to get the driver to understand they need to print the label. All right. So that’s what we did. I suggested to him what to type in that box and sent him the email and thought, okay, great, that’s handled. That’s all we need to do, right?

Again, any rational person logical person would think that.

Tuesday

So, Tuesday, nobody shows up.

Wednesday

Wednesday, nobody shows up. I thought, “If they don’t show up by five o’clock on Wednesday. I need to email the company back and say that FedEx hasn’t shown up again. So I don’t know. (I might ask him) “Did you hit the Submit when you sent that request again”? Do I need to take an Uber or Lyft ride over to the FedEx store and just take care of this? I mean, I didn’t want to sit on it all week. I didn’t know how fast they needed the old laptop back. Like I said, it had problems with it. So it wasn’t like it was a brand-new laptop I was sending back anyway. It’s gonna have to be refurbished.

Thursday

So Thursday morning, I get an email saying they’re gonna be here to pick it up. Presumably with the printed label, right? Between I think it was like 4 and 6 pm or something and I thought, okay, that’s weird. And then the more I looked at that label, that was something that had Monday’s date on it (the previous Monday). I laughed to myself and thought, “This is probably not right. You know, it’s probably not going to happen.” So I went ahead and priced what it was going to cost to take the Lyft ride or the Uber ride–Lyft was a little bit cheaper–over to the FedEx store.

I went ahead and did some legwork. I called the FedEx store and the Walgreens store. Because I’ve I just have this thought that well, they are maybe I better just double check. Maybe they won’t print the label at Walgreens because the closest FedEx drop-off store or point for me would be the nearest Walgreens. I know that sounds weird as Walgreens is a pharmacy but they also do photo print at Walgreens. I think I’ve even had photos printed there in the past so of course I’ll just print the label there. slap it on the box, and that’ll be it. I could almost walk there. But against like, right on the edge of being a little too far to walk. So I called them first because I could just have this vision of me being with the Uber driver, you know, or whatever or the Lyft driver and them saying, no, they couldn’t help me or whatever, you know something going wrong, so I thought I better just call double check. I did and I’m glad I did because she said Walgreens said they cannot print the label and I thought well that’s ridiculous too I mean, where’s their customer service if you’re dropping off a package and let’s say you’ve even got it in a box, but you don’t have the label and somebody’s emailed you the label? You know, somebody needs to be able to print this label. And I said well don’t you print pictures anymore? And she said, Well, yeah, but they can’t print the label. I mean, it just makes no sense to me whatsoever. So I said, “I’m glad I called first. Thanks.”

You gotta watch the classic movie, Office Space and watch what the IT guys do to the printer. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0151804/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

You know, so then I called my UPS store because that’s traditionally where I go. That’s why we don’t have a printer because we print stuff something like once a year why would I even have a printer? And if I don’t have a car Why would I have a printer? I mean, that doesn’t make sense either. So oh my goodness. I go ahead and call them and they’re like, Well, yeah, so I can go to the UPS store to print the FedEx label and then walk it across the street to the Walgreens store to drop it off. That’s what I was gonna do. Thursday, by the way, and they still didn’t have the label printed after all of that. And I suppose my company requested specifically that you print the label we filled in the form and said driver print label. No no, and she was adamant. This one was a different lady, adamant that they don’t print the labels, and almost seemed irritated with me. So I was just like, whatever you know, and just let her walk away. I didn’t even try to you know go over it several times. Right. That was Thursday.

Friday

Friday morning I woke up thinking, “Oh, I could go to my community office” where we live in this 55 Plus subdivision. They don’t offer many amenities here but they have a pool they have a pool table. They have a couple of us pieces, workout equipment, and they have a business office and there’s usually one or two ladies there all day long. Except for lunch. And they do. I don’t know accounting or whatever they do when people buy a unit in here they help them they have paperwork and application you have to fill out you have to they have to do background checks on people, you know that kind of stuff, right? So they’re a little mini business office if you will, but there’s no and this is key. There’s no open area business office like you see in some apartment communities because we’ve been looking at the apartment communities and they’ve all shown us where you can go and sit and use their computer and their printer and all of that they have an open business office for residents, but we don’t have that here. But I thought being that they have a little office area behind one of those half doors where the tops open and the bottom is closed, you know, their little safe and secure in there. I thought they would probably be able to help me it’s one piece of paper by the way. I mean, how difficult is one piece of paper to print? Right?

So I walk to the community center business office. And I asked them nicely, “Can you help me? Is there a way that I can get a piece of paper printed?” I had it both on a thumb drive and my phone as an email thinking one way or the other. Right if they don’t want to put a USB drive into their computer because they’re afraid of getting a computer virus. Understand that I was doing everything in my power to head off any potential issue. Okay. Now, she said we don’t do that anymore. She went further and said we’re not allowed to do that anymore for people for residents. Because she knew I was a resident because I had to have a special key to get into the building. Yeah, that’s another thing. But no, so she couldn’t help me. She could not print one piece of paper. So I thank her for nothing, right? I didn’t say that. But that’s how I felt.

I turned around and I walk away and I walk back home. And on the way back home. Yes, the thought. Hit me and this is why I probably said enough and sold the car. And you knew that that was probably coming right? Yep, that thought dropped in. Okay, Sheila, but how often do these kinds of things happen?

You know what? (thinking to myself) When you sold the car you told yourself and Richard this is, you know, the money that we’re saving every month not having the car if you have to take the occasional Lyft or Uber ride and it’s 20 bucks or whatever it is. Just do it and don’t complain about it. Don’t fuss about it. It’s just part of life, the right things happen. So I go ahead, come back. And I just said since I’m dressed and I’ve already been out I’ve already had a nice discussion with somebody. I will go ahead and just do it now. Now mind you, it’s Friday morning, this past Friday. I’ve been dealing with this all week. And I was done. I was just over it–having made those phone calls the day before.

I thought even though the Walgreens UPS Store combo was closer, I thought, “Why don’t I just go to the actual FedEx store,” right? I thought let me just do that. It’s further than Uber. That Lyft will cost more, but at least I’ll know that I can do it in one place. Go to the proverbial horse’s mouth right? Surely nothing could go wrong there. They’re FedEx. I have a FedEx email label. I have Yeah. Right. I have it in the FedEx box from the driver. What could go wrong? I didn’t even think about what could go wrong. So imagine my surprise when Richard and I (because he didn’t want me to go alone). We get the Lyft driver. All of that goes beautifully. Well, wonderfully well. We enjoyed the conversation with our Lyft driver. She was lovely. Pleasant lady. Good.

Get over to FedEx. I even check on the Lyft app that they’re allowed to wait for you for five minutes. I was like, Cool. I get up to the door. There’s a little older man kind of trying to beat me to the door at FedEx, you know, and I thought well, that’s okay. You know, let him go. He opens the door for me. I thought what a nice surprise. He opens the door. I say thank you. I go and he lets me go first. The clerk is now just becoming available. There were two clerks there.

I put the box on the counter and said I have a number for the label and my phone. I pull up the number. At first, I misspoke I said it was a return because, in my mind, it is a return but to them, it’s not a return. So I quickly amended my statement. I have a shipping label in my phone. Also. I had taken the extra step of getting the little number that they send you because if you’re going to an actual FedEx store, you can let them know in advance and they send you a number and the number corresponds to your label that you already have and that of course that I had emailed to me and in my phone as well. So she is already a little bit put out with me. I don’t know why, but I think just because I said that statement a little bit differently than she was expecting right off the bat. But she asked me again about the number. I tell her and she puts it in and then she goes to another computer. And she kind of looks back at me from a little bit further away and asks, “What’s in that?” And I said, “It’s a laptop.” And she said, “That box isn’t big enough (for a laptop) How thin is it? It’ll get damaged.” So, I stand there for a minute thinking FedEx gave me the flippin box, you know, I mean, the woman looked at (it when we packed it), so then that’s the next thing out of my mouth. I said, “Well, the delivery driver has stopped by twice this week to get the package and they’re the ones that gave me this box and watched me package it so I think it’s gonna be okay.” and “It is inside another box. So, you know, believe we’re good.” She’s like, “Well, you’re gonna have to take responsibility for any damages.” The company is paying to ship it back. Just put it in another box. You know, like I want it to get snotty at that moment say if it makes you happy. Put it in a bigger box. I’m sure they’ll pay for it. That would be another charge for a box. I don’t care. You know, I mean, I was still smiling or in my kind kindness t-shirt. Still smiling very aware. And also very aware this nice older man who led me in the door first is waiting behind me.

I want to hurry this process along. I got Lyft outside waiting. I didn’t want this to be an exchange at all. Just print the label. Give me a receipt. Let me out the door, right? So then she already now is printing the label and walks back over and just start slapping these labels onto the box. The same box I had the laptop in brought it in that she was complaining about right? She’s now slapping labels on it. So I just smile at her. Look at her. She’s like, I’m just letting you know that you’re gonna be responsible for any damages. Okay, fine. You know, like, I think I just said okay, I mean, what was I supposed to do? She had already printed labels. She already slapped the labels on the box, but she just had to lord it over me or whatever. She just had to be the queen of the universe at that moment, like balls in her court. Do you know? What was I supposed to do–grab it back from her? I don’t think so. Not after the week, I’ve had with this silly laptop in this box–trying to get it shipped out. Strike three for FedEx. Absolutely the worst customer service (and process experience) from the standpoint of them coming by twice (at that point) to pick it up and not being able to print a label.

Like I said, you just can’t make this stuff up.

So the clerk gives me the receipt and tells me it won’t be picked up till 5pm. Mind you, it is 10 am on a Friday. She says it won’t leave that store till 5 pm that day. Again, I thought to myself, “That’s ridiculous.” Then she adds, “Your company won’t get it back till Tuesday.” Okay, I did thank her but I’m sure in my mind it was more of a “thank you for the very little you did.”

I get back in the Lyft. We have an enjoyable ride. I didn’t even talk about it. Richard asked how the drop-off went. I said, “It’s off. It’s being shipped. It wasn’t, the best experience but I’ll tell you when we get home.” I didn’t want the Lyft driver to hear me complaining and what are ya gonna do. Right? The thing is done. I just wanted to forget about it. So we ended up having a very pleasant ride home. There was some Rogen started showing driver had to take another little detour route, that kind of thing, but we just had a little chitty chat with her. She played her music at a very low level, but it was Christian music, so that’s fine. We enjoyed it.

And yeah, we get back home and about three or four hours later. Ding dong. It’s FedEx. They were coming again to pick up the laptop. I said, I already took a Lyft over to your store. Oh, okay. It was yet another delivery driver too, by the way. And that person didn’t have a label in their hand either.

So, you know, I can imagine how that was gonna go but yeah. Interestingly, as well, my company had sent me yet another label and said that it would be picked up. So I wrote them back and said, It’s okay, it’s gone. I took it to the store. It’s all done and it’s on its way back to you. But I certainly wasn’t expecting anyone to stop again on Friday.

Finding ease

So yeah, that was a surprise. Four different delivery drivers, wasted stops, essentially. And then the kind of (I don’t want to call her) snotty or rude (behavior) but just very lacking in customer service skills from the person at the FedEx store. And early in the morning too, you wouldn’t think she was already having a bad day–unless she got up on the wrong side of the bed that morning. Who knows, right? But you always gotta figure we never know what the other person’s dealing with. Maybe she just got jilted or something. Maybe she had a sick family member. I mean, you just never know. Right? She could have a million things going on in her life. So I gotta breathe and offer her Grace and be kind., As kind as I can muster anyway, at that moment.

What do YOU do when you get aggravated?

I can tell you what I used to do when I got aggravated. And how I have lightened up. But I am really interested to hear what YOU do when someone annoys you or something aggravates you.

When something or someone disturbs you, do you:

  • Rant (like I still do sometimes)?
  • Yell?
  • Grumble?
  • Confide in someone you trust—even if you know it may raise their blood pressure?
  • Throw things?
  • Punch a pillow?
  • Throw up your hands (or a particular finger)? I have learned NOT to do that while driving.

If I am working, I’ll get up and walk around the house. (Yes, I did that when we lived in our RV too.) Or I would go outside and walk or stand barefoot in the sand.

Do you shift you body in some way?

How do you release the excess Energy that becoming aggravated stirs up?

I used to cry, but I conquered that several years ago.

I invite you to comment or email me.

Oneness. It’s not just loving what we like.

On my quest to embrace Oneness (including what I don’t like, i.e. being scammed, hearing loud people or traffic noise, people who act like jerks and worse), I am conscious that when I feel “aggravation” that’s my initial sense that I may be about to react and judge someone or situation.

I do my best to pause, take a deep breath, acknowledge my feelings, and edit my response—but it’s all a work in progress. Sometimes the situation triggers old wounds and traumas and I just have to exit—sometimes abruptly.

And while I dislike labels, I am releasing and forgiving myself for the THOUGHT when I am tempted to label someone or something. I still observe the action. But allowing anything external to me to “steal my joy” may be something I will have to work on the rest of my life.

Can you relate?

Are we all a “work in progress”?

I am always attempting to do better. I see myself transforming—and pat myself on the back when I respond in the way my best and highest self would like. (A self love and approval kind of thing.)

Happy New Year 2021!

We all know 2020 has been a year like no other in our lives. If we thought 2001, 2004 (we had 3 hurricanes back to back in Florida that year), and 2008 (banking and job crisis), were challenging, we hadn’t seen anything until 2020. Am I right?

So, I thought now it might feel good to take stock and honor where I’ve been, in hopes to launch my 2021 off on a high note! How about you?

Surviving

Yes, I honor my past and all I’ve survived.

Some of the things I have gone through were of my own making and some things happened by default. (And a few people turned a fork in my back, but they are long in my rear view mirror now—thankfully!)

Happy New Year Everyone!

My biggest accomplishments

A business coach challenged me to list my top 25 accomplishments, so whenever I felt down, I could point to each one and say, “I did that”!

Well, I had a hard time listing 20 at first and before I knew it, instead of 20 or 25, I found I had written 32! LOL

Here they are in chronological order:

  • Having my 2 children
  • Survived first divorce that left me and my children in a new state (alone with only 2 new friends and parents who were in no position to help at that time)
  • Paid all my own bills
  • Worked 10 years at a prestigious university

How I am like Trump

This is not a political post. This is a psychological inquiry into mySelf and human nature.

WARNING! You may not like this post of self examination because it may challenge your own personal beliefs or biases. So, only the strongest of will, most open-minded, and highly mature persons are allowed. Hahahaha! Not really. But sometimes I feel like those are the only people reading my blog! (I love you ALL! ❤️🦋🌀)

The list

I am like Trump because I feel an urge to speak my mind, publicly. This has been true of me since I was a teenager and started talking to anyone and everyone on my dad’s CB radio! 🔈🎤

I am like Trump because I love looking at the whole enchilada, or big picture of a situation (and of life). And it’s freakin’ HUGE! (By the way, I love using the word “huge” and don’t want to stop using it. I know at any given point, we are only seeing and experiencing a small segment of life (that which we ourselves are living), but beyond my own personal space, I see a huge world! A ginormous world full of abundance and unlimited possibilities for ALL. ❤️🌀

We are only ever seeing part of the picture.

I am like Trump because I think I could be a good leader. (Emphasis on “think.”) I would rather lead than follow. And true leaders, learn from their mistakes. 🧐💭

I am like Trump because while I dislike criticism (who doesn’t?), I can tolerate it, learn from it, and on my better days, use it to empower mySelf. A lot of my best ideas have been born from changing my perspective. One of my mantras is: Thank you for helping me make a better choice. And it was birthed after working for someone who irritated me—DAILY! ❤️🤪

I am like Trump because I often follow my feelings, especially about medical stuff (duh, my book, which offers advice to others), and how I take care of my own health. I don’t wait for double blind, placebo controlled studies—I Am The Placebo. Nod to Dr. Joe Dispenza. ❤️😉

Oneness. It’s not just loving what we like.

I am like Trump because I like to use Twitter. It is a cultural phenomenon! (Actually, that could be said about all social media.) I write like I speak also. Mostly, my brain isn’t fully engaged until my mouth starts moving! Hahahaha! Yes, that gets me into trouble at times. But, you hear my honest answer, even if you don’t like it. I am not a politician! 🤯🤣 I love how Twitter helps keep me from overthinking (as I am obviously doing now), while coaxing me to write concisely and in the moment—though I don’t tweet very often, I have a strong urge to tweet. 🐦😉

I am like Trump because I am not always right, but I am always considering my next move—often 3 steps ahead. (A good chess player, though I don’t play chess.) 😉🤯

I am like Trump because I am a strategic thinker, or critical thinker. And at this point you may be thinking critically of me! Hahahaha! Why does the Billy Joel song, “You May Be Right” ring in my ears as I write this?!? 🎼🙃

I am like Trump because I value a solid work ethic, and highly promote personal liberties, assuming proper guidance (learn and earn). ✍️💵

I am like Trump because I value education. I value street smarts as much as higher education (as I have learned from both). I taught my children (and those under my watch), not to touch the hot stove. (I recognize controls and rules are not necessarily a bad thing, and are good until a level of maturation, independence, and critical thinking is achieved. 🕰💡

So, you see, I can write a short blog article! Hahahaha! 🤣😂🤣

I may not have a lot in common with President Trump, but my dad thought a lot of him (as my dad was a wheeler dealer and thrived on the art of a deal), and so do millions of Americans. ❤️🇺🇸

Thus, I thought it might be wise of me to analyze (and note), where I align with our president—in particular, before criticizing him for his tweets or decisions. And as you know, I really dislike labels, name-calling, and such.

This was the inspiration for my process and write this article:

My dads RC “trainer” – check out the name: Apprentice

FYI:

Oh, and I almost forgot…

I am like Trump because I wrote a book! Take It Upon Yourself to Live a Wholly Vibrant Life!

As my husband often says, “He who tooteth not his own horn, the same shall not be tooted”!

As always, I hope I have inspired you to find a better feeling thought! Please comment and let me know. Much love and many blessings to you and yours.

Amen. Awomen. Namaste. OM ❤️🦋🌀

My take on New Thought

About New Thought

First, the back drop I’d like to set is that one of the things humans love to do is to make much ado about nothing. We love to categorize, label, and define things, which often leads to us complicating very simple things. We also love to feel in CONTROL, by controlling situations, or people, around us.

Humans love to Control
Humans love to Control

I love to find the wisdom within the simple things. I love to look at everything from a child’s point of view. I feel this helps keep my thoughts and energy balanced.

The main points

I’ve written previously that there are many names for God, whilst Omnipotence, Omniscience, Omnipresence is above and beyond and LIMITLESS of “naming.” To say that Omni-everything is a Deity (whether personal or impersonal) with any name, still sounds limiting to me.

Oneness works for the Omni-everything, but Divineness (to me) still implies some sort of inherent “goodness.” Omni-everything is ever-living, creating and destroying. If you can find the “goodness” in destruction, then perhaps we’re sharing the same stream of consciousness.

Laws

To strictly state that there is a “Law” of anything is something difficult for a child to understand. My six year old granddaughter knows when she touches something too hot, it can hurt her. Or if she drops something heavy on her toe, that it hurts. But she does not comprehend any kind of law, not even the law of gravity, much less the law of attraction. However, could there be any kind of laws, of course, though that concept seems man-made to me, so if you think Omni-everything dictates certain precepts or laws, you’re anthropomorphizing the LIMITLESS.

One may also suggest that LIMITLESS constructs the Universes according to certain laws. I’d rather suggest that LIMITLESS organizes Universes by design. Within art, there are no mistakes. Take whatever you think Perfection is, and find the imperfection. Find a way to love that.

Through the LIMITLESS Omni-everything, we are. We exist. We BE. Whether or not we’ve lived before, most surely we live NOW. And right now we are creating our reality through our thoughts, time, attention, intention, and way of BEing. For this, we are each responsible. We are choosing in every minute, by direct focus, or not.

Entangled

Whether we realize the impact of our actions, which stem from each and every thought we have, they effect others since, We Are All Connected. We reap from what each has planted. Thoughts beget actions. But always, there are ways for us to choose.

Some people choose not to live in a house divided, or in a county where too much control is exerted over them. They CHOOSE to leave. In this way, they are creating their own reality by choosing to make a better choice for them, in their NOW.

Even people in bondage can choose to control their thoughts and find freedom there. Those who do not feel they have any choice in their day to day, can meditate and find relief. No one can ever control  your thoughts. In your thoughts is where you can find total freedom.

Conditioning

A child would not know of, or necessarily be caught up in performing rituals or services, thus dogmas and religions wouldn’t be important. However, most children understand (by way of parental conditioning) that honoring their parents, or those that care for them, is important. I find a personal fulfillment in the honoring of my ancestors, if for no other reason than I would not be here in this life, physically, had it not been for them.

It matters not to me of which religion or dogma my ancestors believed, or practiced. I am still here. I am thinking it would be better somehow if I came to be here via the LOVE they expressed for one another, but I am mature enough to realize that is not the case for everyone. Some are born outside of, and apart from a loving experience, but that does not mean they cannot find love. And it certainly does not mean they are not worth of being loved.

Feel free

Children understand that truth, love, and compassion FEELS freeing. It does not feel good to be called names (even in a joking way), and it does not feel good to be excluded or neglected.

Children do not get all that caught up in whether they’ve lived before, or whether someone leaves their experience, as long as their present moment is nurturing and fun–full of new and continuing opportunities for BEing part of something, anything!

Therefore, the use of exclusionary words, such as “only” cause divisiveness.

When you limit anyone about anything with words such as “only” you are using control, or attempting to guide them in one direction. The Omni-everything allows. Control is an illusion, and one that is best let go of, if one prefers to FEEL free.

In freedom and love,

OM

We Are All Connected.

Many blessings to you in ALL ways. OM

Continuing thoughts on our Limitless Creator Source God Divine Infinite Intelligence etc

Thoughts on Limitless Creator Source God Divine Infinite Intelligence

I attended a Mind Body Spirit expo in Sarasota and met a Tibetan Monk who studied under Geshe Kelsang Gyatso (you may have heard of him, as he’s written many books).

I was drawn to the monks’ energy, presence, and humility. I attended his talk, which was well received. And I bought two of Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s CDs, so I could listen and discover new and deeper spiritual understandings.

I bought, “Eight Steps to Happiness” and “How to Solve Our Human Problems” and I have finally, completed my study of each set. Then, for Christmas, I gave my son and daughter-in-law the “Eight Steps…” and my dad the “…Human Problems” CDs. For more information about the monk I met, and where he practices, visit the Kadampa Meditation Center here.

I watched the movie Grounded, and gave several copies of it away too! (Click on the word Grounded to watch it on YouTube). The importance of earthing and grounding really resonate with me, not just for health and vitality, but to honestly connect with our Earth too! Nature can explain our Limitless Creator Source so beautifully, even so a child can understand.

I went to a special meeting at the Dao temple. At the time, I felt disconcerted about the stealthy way I had been invited. I had not been given much information with which to make an educated decision about going. Had I not been in my head so much, questioning everything, I may have simply relaxed, appreciated, and enjoyed the service more.

I prefer to know a little bit about a religion / faith before attending, bowing, or worshiping.

I was told the Daoist ceremony was only a ceremonial blessing (receiving Dao), however I came away with a birth certificate!

As I feel our Limitless Creator Source is in all and through all–thus, can pervade any tradition or affiliation, I can always enjoy and stay open to receive all the good things of God and not judge them, versus people who find it difficult to attend other faiths because they are locked into one way.

Spiral thought: I invited a friend (who is an Energy Medicine doc) to attend the Dao ceremony with me at Shien Deh Temple and she had not known the temple was there (about 45 minutes to an hour drive from where she lived)! She was sooo excited to come to know of it, and shocked really, to learn of it through me! ❤️🦋🌀🙏☯️

What is really going on?

All any of us are really doing is ascribing human attributes onto a Creator we cannot (yet, if ever) fully understand.

How does a Buddhist monk, the natural practice of Grounding, and a Daoist ceremony tie together?

These are just a few of the new experiences I’ve had, which bolster my belief that God is vast and expansive. Much too vast for humans with limited intellect to comprehend.

I am all about Connecting to an Ever-Living Limitless God, who will use Buddha, Jesus Christ, or my dog (yes well sort of, whatever it takes) to reach us, to meet people “where they are” and bring them back to knowing their true essence, “who they really are.” I do not believe there is only ONE way. I have never believed that. I have never condemned another based on a religious belief.

Hedging my bets?

Some might say that I hedged my spiritual bets years ago by being “saved” or “born again,” because I was baptized twice (one of those times in the ocean–it was beautiful, and once in church), and now, blessed with a birth certificate from the Dao temple.

Connecting

I believe we all have the ability to know, and connect with our Source, and in our quiet moments, Creator can speak to us–and we can FEEL it. This is the reason I love meditation.

I don’t feel that any one person’s Connection to the Divine, or Infinite Intelligence is stronger than anyone else’s CAN be (with much mindfulness and meditation / prayer / acknowledging Spirit), though with practice, the person may connect quicker. But the invitation is the same for ALL. As we are ALL children of the Limitless Omni-Everything Creator.

Everything is Energy

Each of us pulsate Source Energy at different frequencies. And Everything in the universe vibrates–yes, all physical atoms are vortices of energy, constantly spinning/vibrating, each emanating a unique energy signature. (Read any physics books by Niels Bohr.)

Limiting religions

I have intimately struggled with so-called “religious beliefs” because of my RLDS upbringing, Native American ancestry (my mother and my maternal grandmother had healing gifts), and close Baptist friend I sang with (in different churches) when we were young.

  • I believe our bodies are our temple and we do not need a church or temple building in which to come to know or worship God
  • I do not believe in dogma, it can be a guide but can also be misused if taken too seriously or followed rigidly
  • I do not believe in statues or icons (but open to understand they may be used as a reminder)
  • I know books translated into many languages can have errors and that words do not always convey intentions or the intended thoughts
  • I think killing people (especially in the name of any religion) is ludicrous, immoral, and irreverent

I have written about my beliefs along the way, but I don’t think I’ve ever written it out quite this cut and dry before.

I do believe God has a GREAT sense of humor and most of us (definitely me) take ourselves way too seriously! No one has the Mind of God.

I think Omni-potent God created us to show himself without ego. If God showed us himself He would be in EGO.

Think of it this way, I wrote a book and it has a picture of me on the back cover. In that photo, I am showing you my ego self, as the author. If instead, I show you only the front cover of the book (of what I created), I am not in ego, I am just celebrating my creation!

God celebrates His creation of each of us – everyday!

Standards

So, I tend to hold teachers, preachers, evangelists, and the like to a higher standard, because I hold myself in such a place of integrity (because of my beliefs of our Limitless Omniscient Source). However, this year, I’ve learned that because I hold myself to such a high standard/integrity, it very well might be a limiting belief, and causes me to feel bad when others let me down.

Why do I feel people should be perfect?

Why put anyone on a pedestal?

I’ve said many times, “Christians should be held to a higher standard.” And every time I’ve felt that way, it’s caused me to feel bad, anxious, irritated, frustrated, angry, etc.

I choose to let go of that limiting belief.

Letting go to feel better

Now, I replace thoughts about someone’s lack of “integrity,” with thoughts like, “everyone is doing the best they can” and “nobody’s perfect,” so I can radiate compassion, unconditional love, and bloom in the knowing that we are ALL “God’s children.”

Ah, that feels so much better! And my only job is to reach for these kinds of better feeling thoughts, in any moment of the day, when I begin to judge someone’s vibes, facial features, body language, words, tone, or actions.

Beautiful.

Why censor or limit oneself? God is. Just Be.

My previous post was about living a joyous life in balance. Ah, bliss. And it should be so easy, right? Eh, well not exactly.

People limit themselves everyday. We fuss, nag, find fault, argue, criticize, and blah, blah, blah… So, why do I censor or limit myself in conversations? Isn’t it obvious?

God IS. Just BE.
God IS. Just BE.

I limit my words, uh many times even my thoughts, because someone was critical of me in the past. Maybe a parent, teacher, coach, boss, or authority figure – that is unimportant. It doesn’t matter whom. The point is – we humans like to limit things. We like to label things. People will tell you, “don’t worry or care what people think”… but then mysteriously those same folks – usually within the same conversation – will say something that carries the essence of, “be careful, don’t say too much, don’t tell him or her this or that.”

Good intentions

I give you this fact. Many people have good intentions. They want to protect you somehow. Protect you from saying too much so you won’t get into trouble. Hmm. But isn’t that their problem?

Mixed frequencies

Censoring myself, limits me and puts me in a flux state, vibrationally speaking.

I get nervous. I get flustered. My face may even get red. I end up with a mindful of clutter!

Yet, all I can ever truly be – is myself. Like me or not. Care or not.

I make mistakes, I learn, I fall, I get up, I cry, I love, I give, I receive. I am vulnerable. I am not superwoman – and I don’t really think anyone else is superman or superwoman either.

Empower yourself

UPDATE: Want to feel empowered? Get your cape on!

If I, being of noble purpose, believe I have something to share, begin to open my mouth but then my mind jumps to thoughts like, “Oh, they don’t want to know, they don’t care” that’s enough to stop me dead in my tracks. Why? Because no one wants to be judged or condemned. We all want to be liked! If we didn’t want people to like us, we’d never go out, we’d never join with others in any social situation. We’d sit alone all day! Ha! But then a strange thing would happen. The ones we thought would judge us would be the very ones who would say, “come on, get out and be a joiner”! Do you get the irony in this?

You can’t get it wrong

So really, you can’t get it wrong. Just be. Be yourself. Without limitations.

Labels and beliefs

Even my feeble attempt to list all the names (why must humans LABEL everything?) that humans ascribe to the LIMITLESS Filling-All-Space Creator I honor causes me to scratch my head, analyze, and scrutinize.

How do I order this list? Ugh! My mind goes to a place of judgement… I know someone won’t like that I’m including names of: Mother Father, Allah, Buddha, or Zen. All this judgment and it feels so heavy. But God is love, and I almost can’t think of any other all consuming love (at least not in my human form) better than a mother or father (or grandparent) can give to a child – so for me, calling God as Mother Father feels so good, so comforting, so forgiving, and so full of grace. Ohh I am so saved. So loved. I am not perfect but I am so very, wholly, LOVED!

All the various beliefs we hold, many are so personal, so deeply entrenched within us, that putting the names into the same article, or list, will be judged, labeled, and so on! Go on, that’s fine. You’re not perfect either! But you are worthy. You are loved. 😉

Obviously human beings cannot agree, most cannot even discuss these Holy names for God – there is no consensus and certainly there are multitudes of faiths, religions, and many, many wars have been fought, with untold millions of lives lost due to the very notion / belief that one of these names, carry more importance, than the others. But names are only words. Words must be defined to carry any meaning to anyone. Period. If I AM (right now in the present moment) aware of, consciously tuned to:

“There are many names for the source of knowledge—the Absolute, the Cosmic, God, the Divine Spirit, the Transcendent —yet the concept is one; it is the Universal Manifestation, the Spiritual Essence, that pervades all things. And, it is this entity, this Universal Oneness, that the mystic seeks to know.”

-Rosicrucian Manuscript

Why do we limit the Limitless, Ever-Living, Filling-ALL-Space, Creator God?

And then, why, would I EVER limit myself???

There are NO limitations!!!

There is good all around

Let us not lie to ourselves! There’s so much GOOD going on and I’m tuned in!

People are friendly. People smile. People are kind and do good things for each other.

I see beauty EVERYWHERE and everything is working together for our good! Everything occurs in perfect timing in accordance with the order of life, of God. We are all connectedin so many direct and subtle ways. How can anyone deny it? We live in a field of INFINITE possibilities. Get over your lack mentality.

Resonate, vibrate, tune yourself to the POWER and knowledge YOU are who you are meant to be. Quit resisting! Resisting your true beautiful, whole, powerful nature is the same as putting a clamp on a water hose. Just let God’s love and power flow through you always. 😉

I am a spiritual being having an earthly experience and so are YOU! Be real with yourself. I love to help others awaken. I’ve got so much to share!

Bloom where you’re planted. I am! Since I love teaching, sharing, and writing – here’s my expression. Each post is a bloom on the flower of my life.

God personified

Jesus Christ of Nazareth came to enlighten us. He came to show us that we’re energy. He showed us how to live in the full awareness of how to live in our wellness and wholeness. Be it now.

To be something means, you are “being.” You are a human being. Being means vibration, pulsing, activating, acting as if, and exercising your faith! Jesus did not look upon illness or dis-ease, He saw us in our whole (Holy) state of being. Go to the scriptures and read the miracles again. Jesus healed a man who had been born blind. It is written Jesus put mud on the man’s eyes. Then you know what? Jesus instructed the man to go to the river and wash! The blind man was healed by putting his faith into action. Yes, “your faith has made you whole.”

Be hopeful

If you need encouragement and upliftment today quietly say to yourself or out loud with boldness…

  • With every breath, God
  • With every heartbeat, God
  • I am who and where God is
  • God is with me
  • I am never ever alone
  • Alone is a lie
  • Alone has been misrepresented
  • Alone has been ill-defined
  • I know God is with me
  • I align myself with Source
  • I Am Creative Energy

Then say with your most open heart: “Thank You” as a child says, thank you. God knows. For some beautiful worship check out:Rev. Michael Beckwith

My daily mission: to consistently and joyfully manage the contrast between things that frustrate me (like a pebble in my shoe), which cause me to ask for improvements in my spiritual yet earthbound experience, and reach for better feeling thoughts, keeping my body at ease, allowing myself to receive the divine blessings God has in store for me.

In other words: To be joyfully aware of LIMITLESS, Ever-Living, Filling-All-Space Creator in every present moment. To me, this is the sum total of living a blessed, blissful, joyous, and happy life – everyday no matter what the circumstances.

Always remember we walk by faith. Be conscious every present moment. We walk in the light and are never alone.

To those who question if God is Energy, I would ask them, “What is Spirit”?

What is the essence of God? Isn’t it enough to be thankful that we have mind enough to ponder that? To simply BE. Be in God’s Energy.

Blessed BE.

Ease, peace, calm, love, light, joy, bliss, namaste, and, and…

Many blessings to you in ALL ways.
