July 14th – More than the blues

It’s July 14th, 2024; We have an original blues jazz song about having the blues. Bubba Hudson does a supreme job on the vocals in this poppy song; powerful saxophone riffs from John Heinrich bring this song alive! And of course, everything was expertly mixed at Steven Cooper’s music studio in Nashville, TN.

Here’s the one-hundred-ninety-sixth new music post for 2024, as I consistently pump out hot new music to expand your mind and feel your soul. While this was the next song in my lineup to share I know it doesn’t speak to what happened in the USA last night. Thus, I’ll share a more appropriate song tomorrow regarding the news. We abhor the attempted assassination of former President Trump and have been glued to all the YouTube videos regarding this horrid act of violence.

Becoming aware of imbalances

Just as we see displays of hate and violence as a form of imbalance in our nation, a lot of people suffer from a gut imbalance of acid and enzymes. Here’s an old chart on food combining I bought when Richard and I were raw vegans (years ago, which is why it’s so faded), but understand it’s a complex read. I will say that we’ve not been following any specific diet (other than low sodium) for several months, and I’ve regained the weight I lost the year before when I adhered to the WildFit program. I know WildFit helped me rebuild my gut microbiome. I do recommend WildFit, but know it’s not sustainable for some.

I’m back to controlling my portions and combinations of certain foods to enhance my stomach acid, enzyme, and such since (for the first time in my life), I’ve begun taking antacids for indigestion. The heartburn and indigestion I’ve experienced, made me sit up and take notice of my diet again. I don’t want to live on those antacids.

Balancing emotions

Yes, Everything Happens for a Reason and Everything Resolves to Gratitude. Knowing that each of us (as fractals) uplifts my mind and allows me to view life as a lively kaleidoscope grand design that moves about in an ever-expanding, revolving, melodious, consciousness. Anger is part of the human emotional experience, but finding healthy ways to let off steam is key. Never allow your emotions to drive you to commit unthinkable acts of violence. Take control of your emotions and make your mind your ally. One of the things we didn’t do, but I had dreamed of doing, was to take my husband to visit the wonderful monuments in Washington, D.C. I’d hoped that when we moved from Florida to New England we could at least see the Lincoln Memorial, but we took back roads around all the major cities instead (due to much of the civil unrest going on in the USA these days). I can imagine how shocked and disturbed Barbara Loe Fisher was when Dr. Mercola abruptly dissolved their longtime partnership and discontinued funding her charitable organization, the non-profit National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC), and caused her to move the Truth and Freedom Monument placed a year ago (see the Instagram post) at the site of Dr. Mercola’s Cape Coral, Florida business–here’s her story.

When we feel hurt and rejected

I took my daughter and eldest granddaughter to see Inside Out 2 last night and the main takeaway I got from it is that we need to be able to embrace ALL of our emotions. (Not to give away the essence of the film.) Of course, I aim to help myself and others embrace our emotions in a balanced way.

It was also interesting (and a bit of a synchronicity) to see my Facebook Memories today from a year ago when I posted the following:

How have I done? Have I taken enough WOO – WOO out of the box this last year for you? Have I triggered you with any of my posts?

When we feel hurt or rejected, we have a very powerful choice in that moment. We can react out of anger or fear, or we can sit in stillness and go within to clear another layer of past trauma (like peeling layers of an onion one at a time), to be able to feel better when similar situations occur in the future–and as humans it seems, we will always face challenges that can potentially trigger our emotions. I aim to help you acknowledge those moments, clear the trauma, and live with more ease in peace.

My meme: “Did you know the CDC schedule has 79 shots ready for children from birth to 18 years of age? I was born in the 60s and got about 10.” What is going on? Who makes these decisions? True health is not about continuing to vaccinate ourselves. There’s much more to it than that.

I will always believe the definition of true health is to have the ability of mind, body, spirit, and soul and move freely throughout this world in a unique and individual human body experiencing as much joy as possible. 

Each of us carries the power of Omniscience inside of us (some mistake this phenomenon as each of us “being a god”), we can feel hurt and rejected when someone, especially someone we care for and who has cared for us, puts us off, cancels, or defunds us (or shoves something down our throat either literally or proverbially speaking). It’s how one feels when they are fired from a job or abandoned by a spouse or other loved one. In those moments we feel we aren’t a good person, or that we could have done better. We feel hurt down to our most basic of self-beliefs.

If we can simply sit with our feelings, breathe, look through a kaleidoscope or play with a mirror ball (two of the tools I use during an Integrating the Spirals session), or go for a walk and take a good long look at a tree, we may find a sense of relief. We are simply part of the whole. We are a fractal of Omniscience (All That Is).

At the basis of it ALL

I find it easy to maintain a sense of Ego-less meekness when I keep in mind the limitlessness of Omniscience God, and I have written often on the topic. It is the basis for Integrating the Spirals and the bigger picture as well. The result of this self-improvement is to reach the point where we can understand (and befriend the mantra) that in the end, Everything Resolves to Gratitude.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

Quite simply, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) cured my addiction/habit of finger skin-picking/chewing. And I believe my story might help others, so I feel compelled to share it. You might wonder what I mean by “picking my fingers.” Years ago I quit biting my fingernails, but I only traded that habit for something less. The main cause of the “picking” had not been addressed.

I bought a book called, Tapping the Healer Within because my acupuncture doctor had told me about it, and because I had tried everything else. I found that book a bit convoluted and besides, it mostly dealt with phobias and anxieties – neither of which I thought I had. More importantly, it was difficult for me to hold the book and try to tap on my body with my other hand. Or maybe that was only my excuse – but the book, though interesting to me, wasn’t enough to help me.

A few weeks before my personal EFT visit with a local therapist, my encouraging hubby and I watched a mind-expanding show on TLC called, I Can Make You Thin. One of the episodes showed the host using EFT to help people overcome their food cravings. Because I had also tried everything to lose weight, I decided that I really needed some one-on-one personal guidance with that, as well as my finger skin-picking habit.

At about that time, I met an EFT practitioner named, Janice Cunningham (Health Quest Titusville, Florida). I was eager to get in for an appointment. During a 2.5-hour session (on a Saturday) with Janice, I described both of my issues fully. By the time we’d wrapped up our session, I found a total resolution to some deep-seated wrong mental programming, and amazingly, I had the best night’s sleep that I’d had in years that night! I guess I had not even realized that my sleep pattern had also been an issue.

My appointment with Janice also greatly helped me to release the finger skin-picking addiction. Janice and I spent nearly two hours going back into my past, into my former marriage, teenage years, and finally, childhood years. I realized that I had picked up my habit of fingernail-biting at the same time asthma began – when I was six years of age. My mom had always been a terrible nail-biter, biting right down into the quick, so I knew I’d picked up the habit from mom, I simply had not realized how much of a connection there was between that habit, my asthma, and my mom.

Example of finger picking on side of my ring fingernail. Yes, sometimes it still occurs when I watch something too intense in a TV show/movie–so perhaps I am not 100% “cured” but I have a LOT more awareness around it and do not continue to pick once I become aware that I’m doing it.

I realized fully during my session that when my mom’s father died, my grandfather, the sadness surrounding his death deeply affected me. When I was six years of age, coincidently, I received an asthma diagnosis. You’ll recall I had explained earlier that my grandfather had died at home after being in the hospital for cancer surgery. They sent him home with the understanding that the doctors had done all they could do. At least my grandfather died at home.

As an aside, one of the things my mother always said was to stay away from hospitals if possible. I think she had heard about people who went to the hospital and died from some infection (like Sepsis) or had the wrong procedure done! My mother’s fear of the hospital was not lost on me. The important thing about that experience for me though, was that even though I was a child, I had a deep connection to my grandfather’s passing, mostly due to how upset my mom was during that time. And because I was thoroughly connected to my mother emotionally.

My mama was very upset about losing her father. She and I, at that time, felt that death was the end. And though our religious belief was that we would see him again in the afterlife, we suffered greatly at the time of his death and for weeks after. I vividly recall believing if she could lose him, I could lose her. And there was no way I could live – I wouldn’t be able to breathe, in fact – without my mom. Knowing what I know now, I hard-wired that grief right into my lungs, because of the emotional charge involved in that event, due to my vivid recall of it.

My EFT session felt like counseling and hypnosis (though I was awake and totally aware of what was happening) as though Janice was talking to me on a deep level. During the session, Janice recommended I take some notes, both of the things I was becoming aware of and how to run through this process again on my own. The following is an account of the written notes I made: 

  • I couldn’t breathe without my mom.
  • I always had tried to “save my mom.”
  • I am not my thoughts.
  • My perception influenced my thoughts but my perceptions were wrong. 
  • The genie is out of the bottle.
  • I do not need the old thoughts.
  • Am I the thought or the awareness?
  • Am I “this” thought, or am I the awareness of “this” thought? 
  • Who sent “this” thought? (My pain body)
  • Examine “this” thought. It will probably be a limiting thought, a no-win thought, and one that would eventually bring pain. 
  • To let go of “this” thought: 1) focus on the feeling of my breath in and out, 2) be the observing presence.
  • When I only observe, I suspend space.
  • Inspiration = In spirit, and inspiration fills me, lights me up from the inside – the same as when someone is in creative mode you feel the creative energy inside, in your heart/chest not in the head area.
  • The Aha moment is when the head agrees to the inner knowing.
  • My habit of biting my fingernails = my fear and anxiety linked to my feeling of not being able to fix/help/save my mom. 
  • Something that can trigger asthma in my body is when I face something I can’t do anything about; when I feel a sense of powerlessness.

Through this experience and the many more that followed, I learned we tend to hold fear as a sort of security blanket. I don’t know why, as I think that is the root cause of most of our suffering. And the Buddhists and Taoists believe and teach that also.

This is also a reason I bring up the topic of God and spiritual things in this book. Our beliefs—whether we have hope or not and if we believe this Universe is friendly or not—have a lot to do with how each of us feels bodily.

You may not think fear is the same as a person who is negative all the time, but I would wager that a person who is consistently afraid of this thing or the other, is a person who puts a lot of emphasis on protecting what they think belongs to them. Some might call that kind of person a control freak. They may be a person who lives for “things” and is a pack rat or hoarder. They may also be the kind of person who suffers because of all the things and people to whom they are attached. There’s a lot of healing in letting go, of people, places, and things. And you can’t take any of it with you when you transition (or pass away) from this life to whatever comes next.

The Bible in the book of Philippians has a verse that instructs us to think about whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, excellent, or praiseworthy. And the author of those words, Paul, said that as we think these thoughts the God of peace will be with us. I used to encourage my mother to focus on these things—and during her last two or three years, if not more, she did, because she was always in gratitude during our last visits.

Janice used EFT in a compassionate and caring way. The end result of the two hours for my fingers was every difficulty my mom had ever had, in her marriage, health, etc. I felt as though I needed to help her, or ‘SAVE’ her. Though mom had a very strong faith in Jesus, it was always something I had felt – that I needed to save her. Once we broke this down and got to this deep-seated REASON for my habit, so many other things lifted within my mind and body as well. I can’t say enough wonderful things about EFT. If you think you’ve tried everything to find relief from anxiety, depression, weight issues, nerve problems, etc. I implore you to seek out an EFT therapist in your area. You do not need to “believe in it” for it to work for you. And what do you have to lose?

Over the years, I took the words attributed to Jesus in the Bible about “saving people” to mean, “love people.” For I am not responsible for saving anyone else or even making them happy. However, the cells of my body hold me accountable for making myself happy (it feels good when I align with my Soul) to keep my Temple (Mind and Body), healthy. I can love my enemies, but I don’t have to live with them!

Thus, because I am a super responsible person – I’m supposed to do something. (This is the conflict that causes the habitual negative behavior). And because I have an analytical mind, I often find my thoughts at odds with the evidence-based medicine that is predominantly used in hospitals, as I believe the evidence of healing I’ve experienced is true too—anecdotal experience is real and is true! 

I relied on prayer, EFT, breath work, reflexology, and all kinds of alternative methods to calm and help myself think clearly when my husband was in the hospital in October 2022. I was dumbstruck how little the hospital staff communicated with each other, even though they wheeled a computer into the room with them each time! I found myself telling each doctor, intern, resident, specialist, and nurse who came into the room to see my husband most all of the same things because they did not relay the information to each other. Since I am a business analyst in Information Technology by trade the lack of appropriate information handoffs I witnessed was alarming!

p.s. I used to teach EFT at a Wellness clinic in St. Petersburg, Florida and I have lectured on the benefits of EFT at several events. I am planning on offering some general introductory EFT sessions via Zoom if anyone is interested in participating–let me know in the comments.

Clearing the Static

Just like the static most of us saw (after the last broadcast of the day on our television 📺 set), we (in our energy body or aura), can gather static around us that needs to be cleared daily.

Stay with me for a moment.

If you walk across a carpeted room on a cold day and touch metal, you may get a shock. That shock is an example of static electricity.

In the dark

You can’t SEE the static electricity, unless it’s dark and sometimes then, it’s visible. But nevertheless, the static electricity IS there.

And seeds grow in the darkness of the soil, so yes, we “go there” into the darkness inside of ourselves to ground and center. Don’t worry! It is not scary, it is freeing! Know thyself.

An exercise

Rub a balloon over a person’s head of hair and static electricity causes the hair to rise.

No one argues that static electricity exists, though mostly, it’s invisible.

It’s just physics. And physics is a Science that is continually evolving (as are we)!

Energy body

Why then, is it so hard to believe that each of us have an energy body? And that the state of that energy body can impact our health!

We can tune ourselves to resonate with EASE. We can make small adjustments to free our minds of static and confusion to feel less anxious, clear and confident—Connected to ALL.

In the yogic tradition, the chakras are known as wheels of spinning energy found throughout the body.

Usually, energy has the ability to flow though us with ease. However, the situations we encounter in life can often leave our energy blocked and unable to flow freely.

Gentle way to bring healing to your body. It’s as close to you as your breath.

Working with the chakras through yoga is a means of restoring a healthy flow of energy throughout the subtle energetic body, therefore bringing balance to the physical body.

Dr. Ronald K. Porter proved to me (during the workshop) that through movement and breath, I could partner with the Energies in my body to heal it!

In the class, we explored both the meaning of the chakras and subtle energetic body, and engaged in a yoga practice specifically focused on balancing the chakras.

Practicing yoga in this way, and incorporating it into my soul helped me realize I was also doing some very deep soul work too. Thus, why I added Soul to the title of this post. ❤️🦋🌀☯️

I found relief in my body, as I did the breathwork to move Energy into spaces and places I had not focused on in years, if ever.

Specifically guiding my breath, brought immediate healing to one of my knees, and kept the energy medicine working on it for several days later! I knew I had found a healing method I was going to continue to use for the rest of my life.

Becoming an Everyday Shaman

My current environment (living off grid on private property), has afforded me the opportunity to really, thoroughly, BE in nature.

My husband and I also live in an RV. We’ve lived in our 38 foot 5th wheel home for 10 years, as of this writing. Initially, we both worked outside the home, but now, we are both home all day, everyday. (I have been working from home for the last 3 years.)

I have had to be a hermit due to COVID-19 too.

An Everyday Shaman

So, here’s my little breakdown of what I have learned so far and why I am exploring Shamanism:

Bug bites

I don’t like being bitten by bugs: yellow flies, ants, or other. Do I know they have a right to be here? Yes. Do I know they are food for other creatures? Yes. But I am aggravated when my skin itches and feet, fingers, or toes swell up from the inflammation the bites have caused!

I take a moment and BREATHE.

I try new and different salves.

I make my own salves from Comfrey I have grown. Shamans are said to learn from plants and make nature-based medicines, like balms, tonics and tinctures, and salves, and are focused on documenting and sharing beliefs about herbal remedies for various maladies. Check!

And I am getting better at remembering to apply bug repellent (I have tried many different natural and botanical pest repellents), BEFORE I go outside. Even if I am only goinglring out for 5 minutes!

I have had to accept insects are on this planet for a reason. They do a lot of good!

In our garden, insects turn the soil. They attract birds and pollinators too, which enables our vegetables to grow. ☀️💦🌱

I say again, what you resist, persists!

Take another moment and BREATHE. Change your Energy. ❤️🦋🌀

Multi-Directional, Multi-Dimensional

Every morning for the last few years, I have been doing this shaman-like practice:

I fully bend at the waist and let my hands and arms hang to the floor. As I rise, I raise my hands to the sky and say, “Thank you for all the gifts and blessings (knowings) that I have received from the East” (and do this for each direction, north, south, east, and west while turning my body to stand facing each of those directions).

I thank God above, earth below, my past behind, my future ahead, and the cells of my body within. I thank my parents and ancestors and know ALL are WITH thee (my grandparents name was Withee, and this makes that statement personal for me). I know ALL is WELL. ❤️🦋🌀🙏😘

I then, consciously send LOVE out in all directions: north, east, south, west, above, below, forward, and behind. Unseen and seen. Past, present, and future. Indeed, in ALL directions for the benefit of ALL.

There is nothing to forgive, because there is value in Everything. And Everything Resolves to Gratitude. ❤️🙏

Unifying

Lately, I have mostly been getting my socializing online. And while I enjoy being online, some people tend to hide behind their keyboard and say things that are disempowering, unsupportive, judgmental, even unkind online that they wouldn’t tell me in person. And that saddens me.

Some of my “Love and Light” friends don’t act like they believe in unifying. They claim to believe in unity, but then they call me, or others names. Name calling is NOT unifying. There, I’ve said it.

And for Christians, one of the most used directives in the Bible is, “If my children,” “When my people,” and so on, do this or that.

God’s children, God’s people are called to be unifying, to serve, and to Love.

So, yes, sometimes it is loving to leave someone, if you can’t manage to see another’s perspective and be open to growth and change, or muster the self control to be kind. ❤️🙏

What you resist persists

Will we get mad at certain things or people? Probably. But to live a wholly vibrant and fulfilling life, self control (starting with mastering your thoughts and emotions), is your work. Everyone has their own opinions. Let others be. Is it really your job to ruffle feathers?

Look at yourself. Are you perfect? And what is perfection about anyway? As I’ve written about before, expand your mind to find perfection in the imperfection.

Life’s an art more than it is a science. The need to be perfect is fear based. There is no perfection in Art.

Shine your light. No judging required. Have a little self control. Timing is Everything. I get that this is a matter of practice.

Conditional

By its very definition, Love is unconditional. You can’t say, “I love you” and then get mad when your loved one does something you do not like. That would mean you only like that person when they meet your conditions.

You are rarely loving anyone. You like people. You like animals. You don’t love people when they do or say things you don’t like or agree with. It’s a wonder anyone stays married anymore or has children. So much discord.

Try a little patience with those who think different than you. Love is a seed. Let it grow instead of rooting it out or stomping it to death.

You don’t know what’s best for everyone. Nor do you or I know everything. Honestly, none of us will ever know Everything.

Art of Allowing

Because I have had to find a way to actually live my beliefs with a husband who is “constantly under foot” and doesn’t always agree with me in thought, word, or deed (action and timing), I am so glad the Universe brought Law of Attraction and Art of Allowing into my life in 2008.

Now, I am really integrating everything I have learned into my life!

When I get stressed, I stand up, take some deep breaths, exercise, do some yoga or qigong, take a walk, or sing!

Growing living things

I have planted seeds and watched them sprout.

Too much rain washes them out of seeding containers or moves them out of the place where I put them in the garden.

Too little water and the plants die. I am hydrating myself more now too!

I love watching ferns sprout through the dirt and form a delicate spiral. I love ferns and never knew they did that until I walked through the forest enough times to observe them growing.

We all grow through the dirt. ❤️🦋🌀🙏☀️💦🌱

Sending love

The gratitude and love I feel and send is unconditional. I must send it to those I disagree with, as much or more than to those I agree with, otherwise I am not growing or expanding my consciousness.

I have broken down too. But, for now, I choose to bend as the willow. I choose to rise in growth. I choose to unplug from my phone and rest. I choose to turn, turn, turn. There is a season for ALL things.

Wrapping it up

I’ve written previously about some of my dreams and hypnosis sessions (similar to vision quests that Shamans do) to gain knowledge, direct revelations, and other dimensional guidance and healing.

I use breathwork, solitary time (to include prayer and meditation), fasting, singing, and chanting, like Shamans do. I enjoy drumming, but tend to do it only on my body, instead of an actual drum. I don’t use psychedelic substances, but can reach an altered state of consciousness by meditating.

I communicate with crystals, dirt, sky, stones, trees, and some animals. I know that I am a diviner, with an ability to bring healing to the planet by connecting Heaven and Earth.

Some shamans work with unseen elements within the subtle realms of sound frequencies and light (bodies of light and shadows). And while I know they are there, I am not bold enough to think for a moment that they work with me, though I am grateful for their help should they choose to intervene.

I embrace the ALL of what is wanted along with what is not wanted. The dark and the bright shining light that comes from mindfulness and accepting the sacred geometry within nature. There really is value in Everything.

Natural health: Relief from anxiety using EFT / Tapping

Have you ever had the experience of someone making you mad / angry, and in that moment you either didn’t know what to say, or you would cuss, hurl insults, flip a certain finger, yell, scream, throw a fit, or act in some other seemingly uncontrollable manner?

Maybe in the moment of confrontation you go into a rage, attack, cry, pout, or run away? Or you just can’t wait to get home, so you can tell your spouse, tell the offending person off on Facebook, slide into emotional eating, or make gooey fattening comfort food and chow down into oblivion.

I have great news!! A healthy, non-calorie, alternative you can use on yourself to calm your central nervous system! And it’s FREE, once you learn it, and you can do it at nearly any time.

I’ve found relief from the anxiety experienced during those highly charged confrontations. Plus, I’ve learned WHY I never seem to know what to say in that hostile moment.

It’s how we’re wired, and it has everything to do with the fight or flight response! The amygdala in our brains is actually so busy trying to figure out if we should scream or flee from the offending person that the analytical part of our brain can’t get a word in, or out! Seems funny to say that now but it really is what happens and that too, is frustrating – causing us even more irritation in the moment!

The confrontation ends and a few minutes later, or an hour, or a day, we think to ourselves, “why didn’t I say…”.

When I get upset I’d rather not feel nervous or tense, I’d rather like to laugh, walk away, or be able to just shrug it all off. Instead, even if it’s only my self talk, I get irritated and think “get a life”, or such. But, I don’t like that. I’d like to always be conscious of my thoughts and in control of the words that come out of my mouth. Wouldn’t you?

I’d like to say anything other than hurl an insult (which I admit is rare but has happened). I hear people say, “it is what it is”, “life goes on”, “God bless you”, or simply laugh and never give it any thought. Me? Noooo… I tend to bring it all home and stew about it.

Ruminating on negative things leads to stress. And if carried around long enough it could affect my health.

Thankfully though, I am transforming for the better! I choose to stay in conscious alignment with my true nature more every day. I choose to let it all go, right then, right in the moment. Ahhh. Before, how I felt depended on whatever had influenced my day. Now, I really am empowered!

I found out about EFT years ago when I learned of the meridian system of the body from my acupuncture doctor. I even went to an EFT coach for one-on-one help with a couple of issues. Later, I took some friends to the EFT coach.

I’ve been practicing EFT /Tapping much more regularly for a host of things, and I love it! So much so, that I am talking and writing about it.

On Sept. 5, 2013 I gave my first FREE public EFT / Tapping presentation!

I really enjoyed sharing this information with new friends at our RV park.

Seven people came out for the event, and I’ve already received heartwarming feedback. It’s helped people feel better, and that’s the whole point. Relief! Results!

The attendees were: a senior couple, three single ladies, a single guy, and my husband (8 including me)! Woot! The single gentleman was concerned for his doggie at home – who experiences storm anxiety so we even tapped about that! Great group! So open to learning, sharing, and tapping together! We tapped on anxiety, on the economy/government/politics, and all the stormy weather we’ve been having this lately in St. Petersburg, FL.

If you don’t have a clue about EFT / Tapping, I have several websites I can point you to and videos. I’ll include several links below.

Here are the basics:

Talk about your problem, negative feelings, anything unwanted, sad emotion, depressing thing that’s going on IN THE MOMENT while tapping on the side of one hand with two or three fingers from the other hand. Rate on a scale of 1-10 how much you’re feeling the negative or unwanted emotion before you start and after you end. This will help you to know the Tapping provided relief.

Say this “problem” 3 times, beginning with “Even though” and ending with “I deeply and completely love and accept myself or something about myself that I believe is true about ME, like: my body, my soul, my feelings, my emotions, my name, etc.)”. You will want the statement to be true, so you can use your own words, the ones that resonate your truth. Here are some examples of this:

The scenario: A clerk is short, brisk, rude or some such thing and it upsets me. I walk out in a huff vowing to myself never to go back to that store again! I feel the irritation and maybe even anger in my body. I do not want to carry that negative emotion to the next interaction I have with anyone, much less all day, much less all week, etc. So as I leave the store and enter my car I say out loud to myself while tapping the side of my hand:

  • Even though I’m so annoyed with that !@#$ clerk at the store, and my anger is warranted, I could have just (insert what you usually say here, punched, kicked, yelled, cussed) at or to her, I deeply and completely accept my feelings
  • Even though that clerk was really rude to me, she totally ticked me off, I deeply and completely honor my soul
  • Even though she was a stupid, ignorant, jerk, idiot, moron, you name it… and should have thought before she spoke, I deeply and completely love and respect myself

Now, I move through the rest of the tapping points, choosing one word from anything I just said about the problem to reinforce to my brain that I really did feel / experience this issue:

For each point tap 5 to 7 times, not necessary to count them just tap and talk and go with the flow. Also these words are just an example, say whatever your feeling. I realize you may not know what word to associate with the feeling but with practice that will come easier and easier.

  • Inside beginning of the eyebrow (Say out loud): I’m so irritated
  • Side of the eye: I say – I’m very frustrated
  • Below the eye: Ugh, I’m Upset
  • Below the nose and above the upper lip: Angry
  • Below the bottom lip, in the crease of the chin: I feel bullied
  • Collarbone point(s): Annoyed
  • Under the arm*: I’m really Mad
  • Top of the head: Flustered
  • Take a nice big deep breath

The under arm point for women is at the bra line, for men it’s about a hand width from the arm pit.

Repeat this process two or three more times, using different words. Hopefully you’ll notice that you’re choosing easier, lighter words because by the second or third round you’re feeling better! I’ve found the second round goes something like this:

  • Even though I got upset during that confrontation at the store, and believe I’m justified to feel the way I do, I deeply and completely choose to somehow get over it
  • Even though that clerk was a jerk, she probably didn’t set out to ruin, or spoil my day, I deeply and completely love and accept my intentions
  • Even though people should be nicer, I would like to practice what I preach, somehow forgive, and deeply and completely tune into some good feelings now

And then…

  • Inside beginning of the eyebrow: (tap 5-7 times on each of these points) Say out loud: I’m still aggravated
  • Side of the eye: I say – But somehow I want to let it go
  • Below the eye: That silly clerk, what was she thinking?
  • Below the nose and above the upper lip: Spoil my day
  • Below the bottom lip, in the crease of the chin: I’m justified in how I feel
  • Collarbone point(s): but I don’t want this to ruin my day
  • Under the arm*: I didn’t do anything wrong
  • Top of the head: I played no part in that
  • Take a nice big deep breath

Last round:

  • Even though all my feelings about this situation seem warranted, I deeply and completely comfort myself
  • Even though people may not always act their best, I deeply and completely honor all of my choices
  • Even though people make mistakes, I want to forgive and live in a state of gratitude no matter what is going on around me, I deeply and completely love and accept myself

Then…

  • Inside beginning of the eyebrow: (tap 5-7 times on each of these points) Say out loud: I’m feeling a little less upset
  • Side of the eye: I say – I’m still a bit annoyed
  • Below the eye: Because I don’t understand some people
  • Below the nose and above the upper lip: But I don’t want to carry this around like baggage all day
  • Below the bottom lip, in the crease of the chin: So, somehow I choose to let it go
  • Collarbone point(s): She’s already forgotten about it I bet
  • Under the arm*: I have no reason to continue to think about it either
  • Top of the head: So I guess letting it go really does feel better
  • Take a nice big deep breath

Walking more than a mile in another’s moccasins

Making judgments

My grandmother (of Cherokee Native American Indian descent) often said,

Never judge someone until you’ve walked a mile in their moccasins.

And apparently, as a child, those words soaked into me and became my mantra. And I became an empath. Or perhaps, I was born an empath and her words resonated with me and validated my nature. Either way, in my experience, being empathic has been like living on both edges of a sword.

I’ve realized my life’s path has had me walk more than a mile in my mom’s moccasins–and also in my dad’s shoes. And I’m tired. Yet, profoundly grateful I’ve had such a multitude of experiences to learn so much.

No matter how many times I’ve pondered the heartache, the gut-wrenching, soul-shaking, events of my childhood–that I’ve recreated (knowingly or not) in my adult life, with some incredibly outlandish desire to FIX–I eventually cane to a knowing that I can’t fix anyone else. And I’m glad I figured that out before I met my third husband! 

No one can fix anyone else.

Just like that old joke, 

How many psychiatrists does it take to change a light bulb? None. The light bulb has to want to be changed.

Repeating patterns

Unfortunately, even my children picked up the yoke of this dastardly twisted need to fix others, as they’ve fallen into some of the same relationship woes as I. And fortunately, all of us are in healthy relationships presently! Thank Limitless God we’ve all awakened from the lure of this whole “fixing” trap!

So, why am I writing this piercing note in the middle of the night?

Because I promised my daughter, if I accomplish one thing on this planet while I’m alive this time around, it is to break the “lather, rinse, and repeat” cycle of fixing–for my granddaughters. And all of my writing (both online and in books) is to ultimately leave earth-bound knowledge for my grandchildren. Of course, if any of these words help others, that’s icing on the proverbial cake! 

You see, I never knew Divine LOVE, until I held my first granddaughter in my arms. She (Jennifer Ann), means more to me than I could describe.

What can I deduce from this new found comprehension of having walked all of these miles, in my mother’s, and yes, some in my father’s moccasins?

That life’s not been easy. But, it was never my job to work out their issues.

Tempted to complain

My “love of my life” husband and I picked up a saying this past year that goes,

Not my circus, not my monkeys.

And whenever I start to complain about something that doesn’t really belong to me–someone else’s drama–my hubby will pop that quote out to me. I love him so much for bringing things like that to my attention! He knows the empath in me often gets sucked into other’s drama, because I always feel that I can help ease their pain–somehow.

The Universe presented us with that very same phrase while we were enjoying our big outdoor annual Awakening Into The Sun festival! My friend Mary Ann, owner of Awakened Fibers had a handmade wall hanging with the words, “Not my circus, not my monkeys” embroidered on it! How fun!

Not my problem

And as if that wasn’t enough, a few minutes later while visiting with Dr. Alison J. Kay, her assistant, Brenda, told us a new phrase that fully resonated with me. It was, 

You’ve heard it said to get your ducks in a row? But, they were never your ducks.

My goodness! What if the stuff I had taken on (for years), all of those “other people’s problems”, were never my ducks? I never needed to get any “ducks” in a row to straighten out my parents issues. Who did I think I was to feel burdened to do that? Ugh! And now you see why I am tired. Tired of carrying the emotional baggage of others–it was never my stuff to carry!

On the upside, I’ve had a successful (nearly thirty year) career (out of the need to walk in my dad’s technical “know-how” shoes). And after wanting a pair of real honest-to-God moccasins for years, I finally got some, and I’ve been wearing them everyday.

Wearing moccasins daily, I feel every pebble under my feet as I walk. And I love that! I’m constantly mindful that each challenge in life is as the grain of sand that produces a pearl in an oyster!

My daily walks provide me with the benefit of grounding daily, and the knowing that the wearing of these moccasins, physically brings my grandmother’s saying directly into my body—making her words experiential—instead of it just hanging around in my head like some mystical cloud.

So, yes, there are always positives. I know this. Why does it have to take some of us so long to figure things out?

Oh, because we’re programmed as children. Culturally, socially, and if you were raised in a religious faith, you (and I) were programmed. I’m glad I figured that out!

Cut the cords

Now, energetically at least, I’ve cut the cord of all of this for my granddaughters. 

Here and now I state, my grandchildren will not have to take any historical family burdens upon themselves. They can be self-filled. Self-motivated. They can help others as they choose. Free spirits! They can care for themselves first, without guilt. They can choose to do what they love! They do not have to repeat the sins of their parents, or of mine. They do not need to try and figure anything out. The past is the past and it is abSOULutely done.

I have broken this chain of fools.
