Otter: Rant on Whole-ism – Holism, Dao, and Health

The whole Dao thing

Am I recording? All right.

Well, I’m sitting here driving and just letting my mind go blank go into neutral, as we mostly drive on auto pilot with our subconscious anyway. And I’m noticing something as I’m thinking about Taoism and the whole ism thing, holistic and spiritual versus materialism.

So yeah, if it’s true that one of the things I’m supposed to do while I’m on the planet is act as a bridge, to bring heaven to earth (regarding the “as above so below” thing)… and seeing that a lot of my friends seem to gravitate toward or to me (my presence or my essence), because they also believe in Holism, Taoism, holistic health, Buddhism, New Age, or loving light.

But years ago, and I realized this when I was writing my book, Take It Upon Yourself to Live a Wholly Vibrant Life–a holistic health book—that a lot of people that were spiritual, manifesting as teacher, minister, messenger, psychic, nun or simply someone that works with the clergy, they tend to be unhealthy. They tend to be overweight, sometimes grossly overweight, quite obese, morbidly obese, or just the opposite. Conversely, some are tiny, skinny, they look like they they eat like a bird and they’re unhealthy. And, who knows, I mean, the picture of health may not be the perfect BMI or the perfect weight anyway.

Over or under weight

I mean, you could be overweight or underweight and still be perfectly healthy and perfectly fine. But I’m just saying that predominantly, you could kind of look at these people who were more spiritual, and they look like they weren’t taking care of their bodies, maybe as well as they could have. In my opinion. I look at the whole other group of people were really physical, you know, they’re physically active, even older seniors that are playing tennis or golf or pickle ball. All of that crowd you know, the golfers, the ones who walk and jog and swim and and do all this the yoga right the yogi’s who are probably perhaps the only people who are actually working on their physical body, their physicality and blending their spiritual with their consciousness of breath. They’re doing all of that to to bridge and to bring heaven to earth the yogi’s, right? So they’re practicing yoga every day, maybe multiple times a day. Not like me, the sporadic yoga person, but I get the reason.

So the reason I’m moving my body when I’m breathing is to imbue the cells of my body with oxygen that then goes into my blood, which I believe is where my soul is, I feel my soul through my GodBumps that I feel internally in my body. For more about that, see author Davie Pfaffle’s interview of me on his YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0EP0lqKnHGA

Internal Resonance

It’s a internal resonance. It’s a sensation that I feel I’ve written about and talked about for years. I know that my soul is in my blood when I put on good music and I feel the rhythm and I’m moving to it. That’s, that’s one reason why they call it soul music, right? Because you can FEEL it. You can feel this vibe in your body when certain music was on when certain music moved you when it touched you when it like, moved your emotions, right because that’s energy in motion.

You’re breathing and oxygenating your body while you’re dancing. You’re getting that oxygen which is from the ether or spirit and you’re getting that into your blood. So you’re oxygenating your blood, which is bringing heaven or ether or spirit into your body, which is your soul. Your soul is based in your body.

So anyway, not to get off track here, but I noticed that the spiritual people tended not to take care of their body. Spiritual types tend to have more body breakdowns like with body structure, even bones and ligaments and joints, aches, pains, arthritis, all kinds of chronic ills. And then the more physically fit people were they had to work harder to kind of get their mind straight or mind in order or reach for the spiritual. You know, they didn’t think they were spiritual people. They say things like, “I’m into my body.” I’m into the right weight for my body. I hear them say, “I’ve got the right physique and I go shopping and I buy all these clothes and I wear pretty shoes and heels” and all this sort of thing and they are really into their body! Look at them showing off on the social media. They are unapologetically vain, but then say they don’t feel spiritual. They often say they want to be more spiritual.

So I thought when I wrote my health book, I think there’s a market for somebody like me to talk with people who are seeking spirituality. Because they are physically fit, they do take care of their body and they get that their body is their temple. But they just feel like they need more they want to see more spirit, right? They want to grow their spirit or they want to, at least, understand their spirit, their soul, why they’re here and all that sort of stuff. But then you’ve got those people who have all the spiritual as well as, a lot of the spiritual answers but they’re just not taking good care of the body.

So I thought, wouldn’t it be great if I can hit both groups, target markets, and help them–marry them, and come into balance and I had that thought when I met Master Lama Nicholas Packard (when he came across my path and I learned about Taoism and took Tai Chi Qi Gong lessons from him). I’d already been doing yoga and I’d already been meditating and I reasoned, this is just perfect because Lama Nicholas is now explaining Balance (to me) and polarity and why we have good and bad why we have good and evil in the world. Because it’s ALL order. Three brings polarity, bring this balance and you can’t have one without the other and it’s all about proportion. I was gonna say moderation but you know, that’s probably where some of those concepts come from is everything in moderation because it’s in proportion, everything needs to be proportionate.

So when you draw the circle, and you draw the wave inside the circle, and you draw the yin and yang, there’s a DOT in each one. There’s the little white in the black and there’s a little black in the white and that represents Balance–with a capital B. And the wave is the change that’s always occurring because when wind moves across the water, there’s always a wave on the water. The water is always moving–even if you can’t see it. There is a time and you’ve probably all experienced this when you look at a body of water and it’s completely balanced–calm. It’s like glass. And it perfectly reflects the sky. And you’re like, wow, for a moment there.

Shangri La and Water

I would think, for a moment at least, that I’m in Shangri La. I would think that I’m in a perfect state of ease, calm balance, right? Because water seeks its own level.

So yes, you can stir the water you can treble the water like the old song. But water will always seek its own Balance. Water seeks and conforms in each moment, to its own level–ALL the time. At some point water may take a while and the water may bubble and do all kinds of stuff. But at some point it will still and Balance.

So your body is like that because our bodies are more water than anything else and bacteria and fungi and microbes. Things like that. But the cells of our body are mostly water. So our body is mostly water. Our body is mostly in this state of constant chaos and turmoil and upset because we allow things to disturb us.

But what if, and this is what meditation is fo–what if we calm the body?

What if we calm the waters inside the body?

Then the body can start to heal and can start to do what it needs to do to regenerate itself so that when apoptosis occurs in the cell (and the cell dies), the next cell that’s made from the pattern of the previous cell, is replicated off a blueprint that’s good and healthy. You know, the cell that had a problem or had a cancer is gone and died and the one that replaces it now replicates from the good blueprint. Now, you’ve got a better chance of being healthy. And I think we all have a better chance of being healthy than we have of being ill.

I’ve been ill and I don’t like it. I don’t think a lot of people like being ill unless of course, they can gain something from it. There’s got to be a gain somewhere in it for them if they want to continue to be ill because I think most people don’t like to be ill.

I’ll do anything to get healthy, get better, and live well. So I would encourage you, especially if you have asthma, because that’s what I reversed in my body… yes, I regenerated my body from asthma. If you have any chronic ill, I would encourage you to pick up a copy of my book or even write to me if you can’t afford the 10 bucks that my book is selling for. But pick up a copy because it offers lots of tips, tricks, techniques and ideas for potential solutions.

3 virtues: detachment, indifference, sameness

When you begin to pay attention to the little things you do, day in and day out, that are things you do out of HABIT, you can begin to gain more awareness. And with awareness comes consciousness. Life offers so many choices! You can choose to change your health and live better–you can! You can begin by practicing the 3 virtues.

Acupuncture

I mean, once upon a time I didn’t know any of this information. My husband’s aunt suggested acupuncture to me! Little did I know that by trying out acupuncture, which did indeed turn out to be something that helped me immensely, that I could heal my body. I had to do many, many sessions over a period of about six months to a year but I got off five prescription medications and then my body began to heal. I did other things too. I had to understand that I had a choice and could detach from the medical paradigm that I’d found myself ensnared in!

Eat whole food, release addictions

I cleaned up my diet. I started eating things that I’ve never eaten in my life like avocados and ginger, the real ginger root, garlic, lots of garlic and even I took garlic as a supplement to help clear up and then the mucus that was really kind of taken over my sinus and my lungs from eating a lot of dairy in particular cheese.

I was a cheese hound! But, I gave up cow cheese for a while and eat raw cheese occasionally now, YEARS LATER. But back then I ate raw vegan cheese made from nuts, and I made my own nut milks too. Now, I don’t go overboard and I will go without regular cheese for months–because it’s sometimes hard to find good unpasteurized raw cheese (though I love raw goat cheese the best).

Point here is, I healed using a combination of a lot of things like adding good supplements to my diet, eating partly eating less a lot less dairy. I never drank milk anyway and I didn’t eat much ice cream but cheese was my dairy product of choice. And I had to kinda get to a point where I could see my addiction to it. Any kind of “longing for something” can actually be “addiction.”

And doing things like meditation, yoga, Qigong back then helped me so much–back when I was healing of the asthma. I first had to stop torturing my body with those five pharmaceutical medications because they were only making me worse, making me dependent on them. And I didn’t want to take pharma drugs the rest of my life, which is exactly what I would have been doing. I had done for many years. So I would have continued to do that and my body would just simply gotten weaker, weaker than I would have gotten something that was whatever the side effect would be from all those medications.

Spiraling back for a moment–by the way, Pharma doesn’t test medications together. They may test the one or maybe two medications that are predominantly prescribed together, but they’re not going to test five medications together. So who knows what was going on in my body from taking 5 meds plus, weekly allergy shots for two years. But that’s another part of the story that’s in my book. That’s why I said earlier, I had become ensnared by the Pharma.

The spiritual path

What I can say is there’s two paths you can go down–you can choose spirituality. You can choose to get right with God, so to speak. You can choose to live like Jesus. Be like Jesus. Develop the virtues and attributes of someone that’s in heaven. But do it now while you’re on earth. You can choose from any number of diets like the raw vegan diet or a macro, or vegetarian diet, where you’re predominately eating whole clean foods, organic, sustainably sourced. You can do all those things and feel well, but if you’re missing out on your spiritual aspects, which would be beautiful time alone time when you’re praying and or meditating where you’re not asking for anything, you aren’t living in WHOLENESS.

Gratitude and Thanksgiving to Creator

When you’re giving material things up, living simply, not longing for stuff (or even people), not attaching to things, and when you’re living in gratitude, that’s getting WHOLE.

When you’re dancing in worship to your Creator, and you’re being thankful to your ancestors, your parents–without whom, having lived their lives, succeeded in overcoming the many obstacles they must have faced in their life–you wouldn’t be here. WOW! That’s awakening. If you’re not giving gratitude things to those folks every day, you’re missing you’re missing out on a component.

So I put together something called Integrated Spiral because I’m balancing and integrating ALL of this every day. But the point is, if you can do these things, live your beliefs and turn them into Practices, you don’t need to worry about being perfect. Just do your practices every day.

Do certain practices that bring health back into your body, as well as imbue spirit into your body. Honor the directions there’s more than four honor the season. Dress for the seasons eat with the seasons, it local foods. Spend time with family and friends and relatives and babies children. You’re not a person if you’re a person that doesn’t like children or can’t seem to relate with children learn you know, give it some time, practices. Talk with people that are from different countries and different backgrounds, different cultures. Open your mind, open your perspective. Change your perspective. Expand your consciousness and never forget that We Are All Connected. And what you do on your side of the tapestry affects someone on the other side of the tapestry when you pull that thread and again and I say give thanks. The best prayer that you can ever say is Thank You when you say it with intention and genuine authenticity. Thank you. Everything Resolves to Gratitude in the end, you’ll see much love and many blessings in all ways.

Open letter to Matt Monarch

In response to Matt Monarch’s email letter, both in case he may read this, or for any others who have been on a similar healing journey:

I don’t know Matt Monarch or what all he has been through, number one. No one does.

However, I have healed the body my spirit and soul is living in and owe a debt to Matt’s ex-wife, Angela Stokes-Monarch from the profound level of health I’ve experienced since 2008 after reading her books, Raw Reform: Revealing the Physical Changes and Going Raw For Weight Loss: An Introduction for Overeaters (which, I just read again the other day)!

I’ve been a big fan of The Raw Food World since 2008, and before Matt and Angela had their beautiful children. I followed Angela’s social media posts and videos all through her first pregnancy in fact. And I grieved when Matt and Angela went through their “conscious uncoupling.” As I felt they were so in love.

So, yes, as a fan and follower, I’ve felt this young couple were family to me, especially when I didn’t feel well, or was in an emotionally down place (while my own grown children were both experiencing tumultuous relationships).

So, I give the following from my open heart. And it is what I would say to Matt (or anyone in a similar situation who feels they’ve tried “everything” or “enough” natural health remedies and not found their healing or been let down by other well-meaning healers, experts, or guru types):

When I was six years of age, I too (like Matt), was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. I don’t know if it was labeled a “disease” back then, but nonetheless, and whether or not it really is a “disease” or simply a state of being at “dis-ease” in the body, as Louise Hay has written about (and I’m sure Matt’s well aware of Louise, since her books are usually in the same category as Gerson’s wheatgrass therapy).

Natural healing methods, as my readers know, can encompass a vast range of things, from what we eat and drink (and what we don’t, as in fasting), to Energy Medicine, like Donna Eden’s work, Acupuncture, and more (and includes Energy Psychology one of my favorite modalities), meditation, prayer (always with hands together to “Connect the circuits” and Active Faith), as well as, ice baths, saunas, structured water, and the Biology of Belief (as Bruce Lipton teaches—I am currently in his Community online for $7 a month).

In a nutshell, it’s everything we think (become aware of, acknowledge, let go of), feel (or don’t feel), include in our environment and Energy field, and even some past stuff that’s still in our morphogenic field (which could include past life stuff, stuff from our ancestors, stuff from people we’ve let into our lives for any certain amount of time, etc.) and yes, some of that seems woo-woo and wacky, but I am on a path of learning to receive more knowledge of ALL of this.

Matt said he “saw blood coming out” and perhaps that was a shocking symptom to experience! I had debilitating PAIN when I had ulcerative colitis as a kid. And I’ve met adults who told me there was no cure for this–these were folks steeped in Pharma. But, I was healed!

My uncle is a pastor of a church. And he was fairly young then, when I was 6, as we’re only about 13 years apart. But my mom called him, after taking me to the emergency room and my having to undergo an excruciating exam (which later on, by the way, felt like rape–I was a kid and only knew I was even in worse pain and torture during the exam than the colitis had been causing)!

Our church believed in “laying on of hands.” And when my uncle and other elders from our church came to visit me at our home, they anointed my head with blessed oil and very gently laid their hands on my head and shoulders. They said an audible prayer, but I wasn’t really listening as I was just in too much pain.

After they left, I slept all through the night. I am sure my mom continued praying for me as she was so devout in her beliefs and I was her only child. I know she had to be agonizing seeing me in so much pain, especially after what she’d heard outside the ER curtain–as they had made her step out in order to examine me, and THAT is something that as a parent and grandparent now, I would NEVER allow!

Matt wrote in his email that he’s tried dry fasting, juicing, and took advice from several raw food gurus. He tried a variety of diets and nothing healed the condition.

When Matt wrote that he had an “innocent young trusting mind” that’s exactly when I knew I needed to write this response. I believe Matt’s healing is in that very center of his being where the innocence and trust lives still. Not crushing our Ego (as we all have an Ego for a reason), but finding a way to gently acknowledge it for its usefulness and conversely tell it is it not the ruler of us, can gracefully set us FREE!

I love that Matt acknowledges his Ego in all of this. All of his attempts at healing naturally.

I have said in the past that, “I would try it ALL.”

Now, I question that.

I will add a list of all the treatments, methods, and modalities that I know of, some I have tried and others I’ve not, for various ills, ailments, and such in the course of my 60 years on the planet. Must we BELIEVE in them for them to work? That’s an ongoing mystery to me and why I love the work of Dr. Joe Dispenza, Gregg Braden, and Bruce Lipton, among others.

I am sooo glad the vitamin C drip helped Matt. I am also so thankful that Matt and Angela saw an Alternative doctor (and that doctor had a shot of cortisone to inject in Matt to restart his heart.

Aloe, Slippery Elm Bark, blended in home-made apple sauce and not eating nuts and seeds, and not consuming dairy (as it’s mucus forming), I would think would be a gentle diet. Maybe not healing, but gentle. And unless we’re an enlightened yogi who can control all bodily functions as we meditate under a Bodhi tree, we will continue to eat something.

I have been through so much shit in my life and all the 12-step groups, meditations, yoga postures, and attending church doesn’t help much if one doesn’t integrate (at least some) of what you learned from these things INTO your life (another good reason to join my Integrated Spiral DE-Program sessions). But as I say on my home page of SheilaMurrey.net, “it’s ALL your choice. Everyday.”

I’ve tried Jordan Rubin’s products too (after meeting him at a church event in person years ago). I love eating that way, but it didn’t “cure me” of whatever I had going on in this body, at that time. And it didn’t seem sustainable to me. I never did buy into the Medical Medium guy because by the time he showed up in my awareness, I was way beyond him (at least as far as I can see) in my own spiritual practice–NOT that I am better than anyone! (It’s just for me, he didn’t seem to offer anything enlightening.)

I haven’t tried a hyperbaric chamber but it sure sounds like Matt gave it the old college try too, and yeah, if I felt worse from something like that, I’d stop too!

I have heard of Pamela A. Popper and of course, Hippocrates Health Institute too, but until the other day, I hadn’t heard of Hellinger’s Family Constellation work. Watch this long video and see if it resonates with you, it did for me! https://youtu.be/wZ1oYiR5VpM

The fish Matt’s eating currently, sounds good, but I’d ditch the eggs and dairy, again as the dairy is mucus forming (from all I’ve learned and experienced) and eggs are high on the list of allergy foods–foods that when eaten, stimulate the body’s allergen response alerts. Eggs were one of the first foods I had to give up for a month or more back in 2000 when I was trying to get to the root of my weight issues and a doctor there had thought I was allergic. They’re also on the list of JJ Virgin or someone like her) list of top 7 or 10 foods that people are allergic to. I know how hard it is to scrape cooked egg off a plate, and I know our insides are different, warm, wet, and we have stomach acid, but they just don’t pass my sanity test, though I agree they are a perfectly balanced food and if I had access to no other food, I’d eat them before eating an animal.

Matt mentioned one MLM company supplement, Sun Rider, which I have never heard of, but my husband and I have been consuming 4-8 ounces of ASEA for 3+ years in good health (though I can’t swear to it being a cure all or anything, I am still detoxing and clearing the body I inhabit of mold and mycotoxins, so there’s that).

He also mentioned Homeopathy Drops and I don’t know if that refers to NES Health or not, but after reading X and that was after feeling better within HOURS of taking Infoceuticals (and for the small cost of these), I wouldn’t knock a gift horse in the mouth and refuse to try those–they’re really very gentle and have worked TWICE now for me to release certain issues from the body I live in.

I do understand what a disease is, though Matt’s use of the word “plagued” (more than once in his email) has me curious if he understands what the Biology of Belief is. I wouldn’t use that word in reference to anything going on with the body–as all the cells of this body I live in and love and use everyday IS LISTENING.

FYI: Here’s a previous post I wrote several years ago about beliefs (changing one’s mindset, learning about the various belief systems, and “overthinking”, have been a fairly consistent themes in my life).

Look up stem cells. Research about the environment or medium that a cell is in and why it’s important. The cell culture medium actually shapes the cell! The same stem cells grow into different organs of the body depending upon the environment they’re placed in, which I find extremely fascinating!

I do acknowledge that pharmaceutical medicine an offer fast relief–sometimes. But heal? I’ve never known a pharmaceutical medicine to heal anything. It seems he still has the issue, so I question the word, “heal.” Not arguing. Just curious.

I’m not 100% raw, nor am I on any kind of band wagon here–unless it might be that I question big Pharma and won’t play into their game since the 5 asthma and allergy medications I’d been on for years only made the asthma I had from age 6 to my 40s worse!!! We can walk with a crutch too, but that never strengthens a weak leg!

I wouldn’t blame the almond butter, but maybe the seeds (as seeds are notorious for irritating the colon), and I still love Matt, Angela, and their children and look forward to all the continued good vibes they’ll ALL put out into the world for the rest of their lives.

I also looked up ulcerative colitis and read more about it–and there’s several different types: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/ulcerative-colitis/symptoms-causes/syc-20353326

In closing, no, I don’t think Matt Monarch is failing the “raw food movement” by utilizing western medicine (Big Pharma) or that there’s anything “wrong” with going to a doctor or hospital. He wrote that he’s undergone a 9 year battle and tried many natural remedies and alternative therapies. Matt, those may very well have extended your life! I’m glad the doctors helped Matt find a solution. And everyone should have a health team of professionals on their side for guidance and advice (that’s what I advocate for and teach in my book, Take It Upon Yourself to Live a Wholly Vibrant Life!). I’m so thankful Matt writes that he’s a changed man and that he’s grateful! I believe Everything Resolves to Gratitude. I am happy Matt continues to share from his huge heart (he doesn’t owe any of us an explanation)! I am so grateful Matt graciously offers what worked and didn’t work for him (as each of us are unique in our circumstances). I am grateful that Matt offers us ALL hope to find whatever solution and path that ultimately serves our highest and best. Namaste brother. OM

Patting myself on the back

My biggest takeaway from 2021, was to give myself a physical pat on the back for accomplishing sooo much—though I had multiple obstacles and challenges.

Think patting yourself on the back for your accomplishments is bad? That could be a limiting belief.

If you don’t pat yourself on the back, it’s doubtful that anyone else will.

Patting yourself on the back is NOT arrogant or egotistical! You work hard. You are studious. Resilient. And you’re flexible. Adaptable. Look yourself in the eyes (in a mirror) and SMILE!

My husband has this saying, “He who tooteth not his own horn, the same shall not be tooted”! Haha! What do you think of that?

Plan for success

I keep a variety of notes around me, from little sticky notes, to journals, to poster drawings of my spiral method, to notes and research on my laptop and in my iPhone.

“The spiral of energy is akin to layers of an onion. And each layer of that onion, using reductionist thinking, could be sold as truth—as the only part of the onion that exists.”
Sheila “Spiral Sister” Murrey

When inspiration comes, I jot it down and sometimes I post these on Facebook or Instagram. The ones that really resonate with me, I put on a shirt, mug, or such:

Connect with me there by searching my name or “Spiral Sister” to join our calls.

I’m telling you, it’s so encouraging and motivating to have a group of fantastic business mentors on your side.

My TOP 5 goals for 2021 were:

  1. Integration of my Spirit and Soul into ALL I am and do DAILY, to help me stay balanced and Connected
  2. Take Joy in running Integrated Spiral (a transformational, small group, self-coaching DE-program)
  3. Close open loops within the week and celebrate to reinforce that habit
  4. Market our music while promoting others (as I have been doing on N1M)
  5. Continue writing (metaphysical novel in progress), created a course on Communing with TREES, blogging, creating t-shirt designs and more, and generating ideas for a Vlog or podcast

Forward progress is continuing.

Happy New Year 2021!

Happy New Year 2021!

We all know 2020 has been a year like no other in our lives. If we thought 2001, 2004 (we had 3 hurricanes back to back in Florida that year), and 2008 (banking and job crisis), were challenging, we hadn’t seen anything until 2020. Am I right?

So, I thought now it might feel good to take stock and honor where I’ve been, in hopes to launch my 2021 off on a high note! How about you?

Surviving

Yes, I honor my past and all I’ve survived.

Some of the things I have gone through were of my own making and some things happened by default. (And a few people turned a fork in my back, but they are long in my rear view mirror now—thankfully!)

Happy New Year Everyone!

My biggest accomplishments

A business coach challenged me to list my top 25 accomplishments, so whenever I felt down, I could point to each one and say, “I did that”!

Well, I had a hard time listing 20 at first and before I knew it, instead of 20 or 25, I found I had written 32! LOL

Here they are in chronological order:

  • Having my 2 children
  • Survived first divorce that left me and my children in a new state (alone with only 2 new friends and parents who were in no position to help at that time)
  • Paid all my own bills
  • Worked 10 years at a prestigious university
  • Achieved two college degrees (the second with highest honors)
  • Put braces on my teeth and paid for those myself
  • Survived second divorce (from #2 who had major issues; since I don’t like labels though, I won’t list those here.)
  • Bought my own house using creative financing
  • Paid off several cars
  • Sold the house for a huge profit
  • Wrote both of my children big checks from the sale of that home
  • Traveled across the country working as an IT consultant (3 years)
  • Towed my own travel trailer and survived one whole winter in Missouri in it!
  • Working in Information Technology (30+ years) both for corporate/government
  • Co-wrote a well-received song when my would-be husband and I met (while I was on the road in Missouri) – https://vimeo.com/416711742?
  • Married the “Love of my life” (3rd time was the charm!)
  • Helped my husband buy his first house
  • Refurbished and sold that house for a profit
  • Bought a new townhouse together
  • Learned (and continue to learn) holistic health methods to heal and integrate Spirit-Soul, Mind-Body
  • Healed my body from 30+ years of asthma
  • Living full-time in an RV for 10+ years
  • Writing 3 books (with a 4th in progress) links at the bottom of this article
  • Writing and managing two blog sites – this one and Being Wholly Vibrant
  • Enjoyed time with my parents as they aged
  • Gracefully accepted my parents’ passing in 2017 and 2019
  • Continue to receive messages and visions from my parents in spirit since they crossed over to the Grand Beyond
  • Enjoying time with my granddaughters (in person when possible or via video chats)
  • Working 3.5 years from home (so was already very comfortable with it when lockdowns occurred)
  • Living off the grid
  • Learning how to “stay connected” even with limited/low bandwidth internet connectivity
  • Surviving this pandemic/plandemic year on private off grid property (a huge undertaking at our age)

What are your biggest accomplishments?

I’m using all I’ve learned to craft a self-coaching program where a small group of 4 dig deep and integrate what we know to achieve emotional balance. Would you like to join an upcoming 4 week program? (Let me know in the comments.)

And Happy New Year, everyone! ❤️🦋🌀🎆🎉

Integration Diet

Integration Diet

Intro

Right from the start, let me tell you that I’ve been gently releasing the excess weight I’d gained during the COVID lockdown, by eating all different kinds of foods and challenging my former thoughts about what foods I should eat. It has really surprised me! And those “surprises” challenged me to analyze what was going on and how I could sustain ongoing weight loss (as I’d been overweight, technically obese), BEFORE the lockdowns.

Food History

I’d lost 20 pounds during 2019 with the help of a modified Keto diet as suggested by my chiropractor, restricting certain foods, and dining out less, (and scrutinizing food ingredients when we did go out). Mostly, I went out to socialize with my husband and not even eat a meal. I had taken a lot of supplements too, to help balance my hormones. But during the summer of 2020, I regained those 20 pounds (mostly due to COVID lockdown depression).

When I say I am not unfamiliar with diets, it’s true. I’ve done so many different diets over the course of twenty years, it’s not funny. It’s actually kinda sad. I didn’t even learn (throughout all of the time I spent on various diets), how to tell when I was hungry—until I was ravenous (belly gurgling with hunger pangs)! I learned the particular diet, but I didn’t align my MIND-BODY, and integrate these aspects and LISTEN to my body and analyze what changes I needed to make in order to experience RESULTS. (I am in alignment, Now.)

So, what I’m about to share may shock you. It has, and continues to shock me!

Food List

Here’s a list of some of the foods I’ve eaten and seen the number on the scale DROP the next morning, foods I wouldn’t have eaten a year ago:

  • Steak
  • Barbecue sauce (I found one brand that works for me. Yes, ONE.)
  • Cheese (I found a couple types that work for me.)
  • Half and half
  • Canned soup (I drink an extra cup of water after to help flush out excess salt.)
  • Rice (rinsed very well before cooking)
  • Soy sauce (always thought it was a no-no)
  • Pasta (egg or veggie noodles)
  • Potatoes (even tater tots, and potato chips! Gasp! Small portion, but yes. Shocking!)
  • Dark Chocolate (small portion, on a fancy plate)
  • Margaritas (homemade, no sugary mixer)
  • Red wine (limited to 8 ounces a night, though depending on my meal, I’ve had more)
  • Universal Yums (a monthly subscription of snacks from around the world-tiny servings—added this because we’re foodies and love trying new foods from other countries! Since we can’t travel currently, this monthly fun box supports our mental health and Connects us ALL.)

Tracking

What started it all? I credit a pillar of my weight loss success to the Omada program (that was offered to me by my health insurance program: Florida Blue), because they sent me a free scale that communicates back to their app and diet coach, via blue tooth technology (so, I am held accountable). Accountability is KEY!

I weigh in every morning, nude, and before drinking any water and after going to the restroom. I’ve also integrated this into my morning meditation ritual which includes a brief gratitude ritual (along with some Yoga postures and Energy building Qigong activity) to release any gas in my body, strengthen my immune system, and release stress. And this was the impetus for developing Integrated Spiral!

Tying these activities together has been a huge advance in my ability to stick with the weigh ins and track my journey. In the first three months, I released 15 pounds, but UPDATE: By March 24, 2021 I lost a total of 32 pounds (which included another 17 pounds lost during my time of participating in a 7 week Herbal Detox with KP Khalsa and The Sacred Science)!

I’ve communicated with my coach on the days I gained a pound or so, and worked through the mental hoops and associated feelings. I’ve also incorporated small celebratory actions that do not involve food, as a new way to thank my body for following through on my desire to lose weight.

The Omada program also came with an app, which has helped me focus on the size and health of my meals, rather than the calories of the food (as I’d tracked before in the LoseIt! app). Now, I watch for the trends of how many veggies I’m eating in a week, and what I’ve eaten the day before I see the number go up or down on the scale. It’s a pretty cool bio feedback loop and is definitely working for me.

NOTE: If you’re not in the Omada program, you can still do the weight loss portion of my Integrated Spiral program, because I have found even better blue tooth scales that measure 17 health markers! I’m gonna get one if and when my Omada scale fails. 😉

Supplements

Aside from the liquid supplement that both my husband and I consume daily, when we moved off grid, I pretty much quit taking any other supplements, except Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Zinc, and Magnesium. But when I first stepped on the Omada scale and saw how much I had gained from February to September, I started looking into anything and everything I could take to support my weight loss journey. For the first time in a long time, I felt desperate.

I tried a few supplements and I could tell what didn’t work by how I felt and that I’d gain ounces the day or so after taking them. I think my body is so sensitive, that I gain a bit of weight anytime I introduce something new to it. That’s a theory I am tracking via my food and weight log (which, circles back to why tracking is sooo important)!

There are few supplements (weight loss aids) that have helped me, and I’ll be writing reviews on those products on Being Wholly Vibrant.

I’m not including any supplements in my Integration Diet per se, because I don’t want you to feel that you have to take certain supplements in order to participate in this program. Take It Upon Yourself, as I always say, to do what works best for you. Plus, I’m attempting to keep all product reviews on my other blog. 🧐

Portions and measuring

I’ve found that my 1/2 C measuring cup has become my best friend in the kitchen. I scoop out chili and soup with it, and measure rice and pasta with it too. If I am in doubt, I measure. And I don’t just “trust” my eyes and brain with that “eyeball” method of measuring food, because that has been known to fail me.

The limit I set for myself on these kinds of foods is 1 C at a time. If for some reason I absolutely find that I need or want more, I go back for 1/2 C more. But, in three months, that’s only happened twice.

You gotta serve somebody. Just include yourSelf!

Timing

One trend I’ve noticed is that when I stop eating anything by 6pm, the number on the scale goes down the next morning.

I’m a big fan of intermittent fasting, but for it to work for me, I’ve observed that I need to go to bed on an empty stomach. I’ve tried all the other ways to do intermittent fasting, and no other combination works for me except going to be feeling hunger pangs. (This became less and less the longer I stayed committed to this program.) For me to practice intermittent fasting long term, well, it takes a real commitment and mindset. I’ve haven’t always been successful, but somehow, I feel this time, I will reach my ultimate goal weight.

Another trend I’ve noticed is that if I abstain from night time snacking, I can eat the same snack midday the next day (after lunch), and it doesn’t make the numbers on the scale go up, like it would have done, had I consumed it at 9pm. Weird, but that’s what I’ve observed as true for my body.

Creating the habit

All of this has been about helping me establish good habits that I can maintain for life. I know walking daily, or not, is a choice.

And honestly, the number on the scale has gone down on the morning after I didn’t walk and I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s because I need to rest and allow my body time to repair and reduce the inflammation that came from my walking the day before. I don’t know. I’m continuing to monitor that.

Clearing the static from our Energy Body.

Sustaining habits or subconscious practice

So far, I’ve had the best outcome from tying two or more tasks or practices together. This is why I formed my Integrated Spiral transformational, small group, self-coaching program.

I know in order for me to make the commitment to a healthy, whole, and vibrant body means I must be held accountable. By serving others, I will serve myself. And in Bob Dylan’s famous words, “You gotta serve somebody.”

I know spiritual types that aren’t in touch with their bodies. And I know body conscious types who want to learn more about Spirituality. I think (and feel), I can serve both.

Integrate, integrate, integrate

Integrate moment by moment

❤️🦋🌀I have been reminded (by my body and my experiences this year), that as I write the words the Universe presents multiple ways to help each of us integrate the concepts represented by the words we write.

An example of this was when I designed my t-shirts, mugs, and more with the words “Minding my Energy” (which, is all about managing our energy), and a few short months later, I was faced with literally managing my own electrical energy, as well as re-energizing my body through diet and exercise!

I’ve been presented (sometimes daily) with quite interesting and challenging ways to actually manage my energy! And then, it IS my choice (and has been), to laugh WITH the Universe, or struggle. ❤️🤣😘

We are always tuning

Integrating mind and body involves getting your thoughts, intentions, priorities, physical activity, and reactions to external factors—ALL in BALANCE.

Yin yang observations and why we seek Balance.

We achieve and live in a state of whole health, as we embody balance. Our work, if there is any, is to always tune in to balance. ☯️

Spirit & Soul

Many books have been written about integrating our Spirit and Soul, and practices eons old such as Qigong and Yoga exist to guide us in integrating our breath (and Spirit) with our physical bodies.

My philosophy is this: breathing incorporates and integrates Spirit to Soul (think oxygenation of the blood).

All we need to do is, DO the daily, consistent practice. Lather, rinse, repeat. Ah, the spiral of tension and release. Action and rest. Charge and restore. ❤️😉

If you need help with the consistency part, there are many groups and coaches available—there are even apps! Learn, do, and stay accountable. (I offer a free Messenger “Move your body” group. Write a comment below or find me on Facebook to be added.

NOTE: Let me know if you comment, if you want me to keep your comment hidden, so others won’t see it.)

Minding (Managing) my Energy design – buy it here: https://sheilamurrey.net/store/

Body – My diet

I have been participating in a weight loss program sponsored by my health insurance company (Omada), for 15 weeks. More about that soon in another post.

It involves tracking and monitoring key health metrics daily—including weighing in.

Watching the number on that scale each morning has been both a blessing and a curse. It’s biofeedback and psychology working at its best, whether I like it or not. Ha!

I am now, using the challenges I face (like gaining those couple of pounds last week), to push myself to learn more.

I watched (and later connected with) a menopause doctor, learned some more acupressure points (that really seemed to help last night!), and started my Activ5 workouts while watching DVDs, that I think are going to be real game changers for me!

I feel, mind, body, and soul that I am on a healthy path, now, to release the excess weight on my middle aged body. I am so excited! In fact, I actually released 1 pound and 1 ounce, overnight! (I have let go of 10 pounds in 15 weeks, and this includes days of losing, gaining, and plateau weeks.)

Body – Living environment

Most of my followers know that my husband (who is 11.5 years older than me), moved to an off grid living arrangement at the end of February. And then COVID hit. We didn’t have any time to adjust to our new address, until we were on lockdown (especially him, because he’s over 65).

I haven’t written much about the changes (yes, challenges), we faced because I do my best to stay focused on the positive I desire, silver linings, and all of that. Suffice to say, every single day we were “managing our energy,” personal energy, electric from the sun/generator (we had two generators die, and a tropical storm hide the sun from our solar panels, etc.), and consider every single use of energy consumption (right down to learning how to live without hot water, and store only so much in a dorm sized fridge)! Off grid living is NOT for the faint of heart.

We’ve figured most of it out now, some 9 months later, but we are still integrating the thoughts and new mental exercises to live this lifestyle in gratitude.

Body – Writing it out

Words are a kind of tuning instrument for me.

You see, everything is energy. And life exists (manifests) along a spectrum of energy.

A body is just a dense collection of energy at one point on the spectrum (and why it is visible), and it reverberates with and emits emotional energy (invisible) according to what is near it. It’s reactionary!

Think of a guitar string. If the guitar string is not plucked, there is no reaction. Thus, there is no sound. When plucked, the string makes sounds in alignment with it’s tuning—high or low.

You are like the guitar string that has the ability in every moment to choose how you are tuned, and whether you will respond to the plucking!

Choosing how to respond to the plucking, takes mental energy. And mental energy is far less dense and changes moment by moment, faster than the speed of light! So, why does it seem to weigh us down? (Stress seems to occur when we “carry” the “weight of the world” around on our shoulders (yet, it’s mere thoughts in our heads)!

An example of writing it out as I prepare for a talk

In closing

I believe the more we search for answers and try a variety of holistic methods, the more deep and integrated our healing. And the healthier overall, we become.
(I wrote a book a couple years ago about how I reversed “lifelong” asthma.)

My hope is that you ALL will come to this deep and profound awareness of how much the Universe desires to integrate with you too!

As I prepare a course on integrating where we joyfully learn and practice ways to embody our light, or lighten our bodies, and ride the energy spiral to balance, (ah, don’t you LOVE the journey of a work in progress?), I’ll give you a peek… let me know if this resonates with you:

Potential new course topics. Organizing my thoughts and teachings. ❤️😉

Comment below. Let me know your glorious thoughts and if you might be interested in taking my course (or sitting in a virtual circle with me)!

Much love and many blessings! ❤️🦋🌀

What does 100 percent efficacy mean?

What does 100 percent efficacy for a drug mean?

There seems to be a lot of banter about this phrase, “100% efficacy” in regard to certain pharmaceutical drugs that could be prescribed and taken to treat the COVID-19 virus, which originated in Wuhan China, December 2019. But what does that phrase really mean?

Efficacy pertains to how effective a certain drug is based upon the dosage given during a controlled trial. However, the effectiveness of a drug varies widely based upon how people consume it.

Critical thinking

Check out the following article. (Click the link). Even if you simply read the Abstract and Background of the article, I think you will understand where I am going in regards to all of this.

https://bmcmedicine.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12916-015-0494-1

No drug offers 100% efficacy

The bottom line is that no pharmaceutical drug shows 100% efficacy or effectiveness. And yes, there is a difference. Also, many drugs that have undergone clinical trials (for multiple diseases and ills) showing some level of efficacy, were later pulled off the market AFTER people who took the drug died. Look at all the lawsuits!

No drug offers 100% efficacy.

Lawsuits and side effects

People seem to forget about all the lawsuits filed, where plaintiffs who suffered horrible effects, or died, won a sizable settlement for themselves (or their estate) after the government allowed a “medication” to be put on the market and administered by doctors.

And those pharmaceutical advertisements! It is one of the big reasons we quit watching television! I abSOULutely cannot stand the big pharma TV commercials with all their misinformation, hype, and very long list of side effects that typically always include DEATH!

Why this conclusion?

My whole book, (Take It Upon Yourself to Live a Wholly Vibrant Life) is over 200 pages and contains 10 years of research, personal accounts, and family and close friends anecdotal histories—if anyone is interested as to why I state the opinions I hold.

I do not wholly trust the CDC , FDA, or very many of those alphabet agencies (who supposedly exist to protect people), as they are all made up of fallible people—many following political and/or hidden agendas. I question everything. I use Pubmed for health research and read published and peer reviewed articles from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). And I read from a variety of sources to avoid bias.

I use a whole lot of holistic and alternative healing protocols and look at all the angles, so I do not become biased or fearful. I understand that the old, well-known aspirin company used to be good until they bought the M-word company. I’ll never take another aspirin, especially theirs. Also, aspirin is made from White Willow Bark, and it’s easier for me to take that when needed.

Personally, I think it is prudent to follow sensible measures, (sanitization and limiting contact seem sensible), and question everything that is pushed out to the masses (masses are mostly made up of sheep).

Use critical thinking where these things are concerned and follow your gut.

Lastly, please don’t buy into fear. The cells of your body are listening (feeling that in their environment), and that can being on more health ills than most people realize.
Peace. Out. ❤️🦋🌀😀
