No Dogma Required

I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again… you can Take It Upon Yourself to be, do, or have Anything. You can take care of yourself. Be your own boss, preacher, teacher, shaman, priest, doctor, and so on… Oh, yes, you can. Give yourself permission. Get your backbone up.

Dogma (original song & artwork) by Richard Murrey.

Do you know why I write the word awesome as aWEsOMe???

Because WE OM. (We meditate.)

The list

From our meditations we have the knowing that:

  • WE are never alone.
  • WE are critical thinkers.
  • WE are deep thinkers.
  • WE are not sheeple.
  • WE don’t drink the Kool-Aid.

I Mind My (Own) Energy–boy, how true is this turning out to be NOW (in reference to the Off Grid living)!

Feel your way

WE don’t need labels or judgments, but recognize it is human for us to do this.

WE won’t judge our “beginning” (or becoming) from someone else’s “middle” and we know we’re all in the process of “becoming.”

Empowered

WE are empowered and are always (ALL ways) connected with our higher power, Source, God, the Universe, etc.

Choice

In All things, we always have a powerful CHOICE.

WE can choose (no matter the circumstances) to operate at our very best.

Never alone

Source Omniscience is IN, THROUGH, and ALL AROUND us – ALL dimensions — ALL the time! There is nowhere Source isn’t.

We Are All Connected.

Everything Resolves to GRATITUDE. God is limitless Omniscience – No Dogma required.

We’re livin’ Off Grid

It looks idyllic, doesn’t it?

Our new camp spot

Our RV spot

From the first moment we arrived at our new camp spot, I felt at home. Like I could really breathe here.

It has been one month now, since we moved to family property in north Florida. And we have been living off the grid, (that is no electric power pole, no city water or sewer, no landline phone, and no cable).

In this article, I’ll specifically focus on our Energy needs.

First, we powered our RV (a 36 foot 5th wheel), by running a gasoline fueled generator.

A week or so later, we bought 12 gel golf cart type batteries. By adding a large bank of batteries, we would run our generator a few hours a day—typically, 4 or 5 hours depending upon what we plugged into the outlets, or if we cooked on the stove, or used the microwave.

We quit using our hot water heater, large refrigerator, and air conditioner the first day. They were simply power hogs, and we could immediately see how inefficient they were.

12 battery bank (build in progress)

We’ve ordered our 12 solar panels, so that will be the next step. And if all goes well, this setup could last us several years. It will pay for itself within a year or two (more or less). Not in energy cost savings, but because we aren’t paying lot rent to a campground or park.

It’s been a bit of an adjustment to live a sustainable and simple life in Florida, where the temperatures in February can vary greatly during one day.

Hermit-land

I wanted to move to this place for more than a year. And right before we took the leap to move, my friend Lauren told me I might grow from being a hermit (or spending some time alone, as I like to think of it). Thus, as I sit to write this, I think I’ll call this place my hermit-land. It even has its own share of ferns, moss, and faerie-like homes, which amuse me.

Faerie homes? Old Florida

I’ll share some of my top reasons next, for moving here. Though, since relocating, I’ve discovered several more reasons. And these are not in any particular order:

  • Never lived in north Florida
  • Yearned to be with family
  • Desired to commune with nature
  • Wanted more room to walk
  • Ached for peace, quiet, and serenity
  • Longed to plant a garden (again)
  • Wanted to learn how to manage my own Energy
  • Do more with less
  • Play more music
  • Discover new places
  • Be closer to the Florida line for ease of travel
  • To fulfill my dad’s dream
  • But didn’t want to own property again
  • And didn’t want to pay lot rent

Easing into it

Learning how to managing one’s own Energy can be challenging, especially for us older folks. So, my son decided to show us how to live off grid, by having us plug into and run a generator for power during the first two weeks. We had some cold nights, and tripped a breaker when we turned on our electric fireplace.

We ran several checks to determine what we could run efficiently. And we made the necessary changes.

I chose not to run the hot water heater, because I had adjusted to lukewarm and cold showers (Thanks to Wim Hof’s teachings), and my son provided hot showers on property in a nice standalone bath house. Plus, I could warm a bit of water on the stove for washing dishes once a day, as needed. No need to keep multiple gallons of water hot all day and night long.

We chose not to use our big refrigerator (that had came standard in our 5th wheel). We borrowed an apartment sized fridge from my son and it suited our needs—especially after our food stock changed.

A few weeks after we moved, we began hearing of the Wuhan China (later termed, COVID-19), virus, so we had additional restrictions placed upon how much we could explore. For instance, we had discovered a few good restaurants, but they closed down, or only served take out orders. And our idea of checking out the parks and springs had to be put on hold too. We have been able to walk the property and adjust to our new daily routine, albeit not as easily as we might have hoped.

Some of what I love the most about living at our new spot, is being able to hang out with my son, cook, and enjoy the evening fires. Oh, and the stargazing!

Fire

We’ve gotten a little too much nature at times, such as being bitten by various bugs. And we’ve experienced strained muscles from lifting jugs of gas, plus a good deal of sweating during mid-afternoon heat (though we’re parked in the shade).

Note: we’ve not been running our air conditioner, though we could for awhile if it is the only thing plugged into the generator. And I have actually been feeling BETTER! I attribute it to less stress, less noise, and breathing natural air!

Learn how to live simply

My son runs the Dude Off Grid Facebook group, where you can see videos and more, and learn how you can live off grid too.

Cut costs, get out of debt, and help the planet! Sure seems like a win-win situation to me!

I don’t think there’s anything more fulfilling than learning how to Take It Upon Yourself to learn and do things for yourself. So much self worth and self esteem comes from that. Bravo son! And thank YOU for reading.

❤️🦋🌀

UPDATE: We moved to the St. Petersburg/Bradenton, Florida area July 2021, first staying in the Gulfport area of St. Pete for the month of July and then moving to Bradenton in August as we had many friends there from when we lived there before.

About the Winter Solstice

Until recently, I didn’t know a whole lot about the Solstices.

Previously published on The Wellness Universe, December 20, 2019

Except that many years ago, I had been told by a particular religious group that the Christmas holiday was celebrated at about the same time that Pagans celebrated the Winter Solstice. I knew that astronomically-speaking, the Winter Solstice was the shortest day, (a day with the least daylight), that we experience during a year. So if this is your first dive into the topic, you’re not alone.

When is the Winter Solstice?

In the northern hemisphere, the Winter Solstice occurs from about December 18th to the 25th; depending upon the year. Most people acknowledge the Winter Solstice only on December 21st or December 22nd. At the prehistoric sacred site of Newgrange in Ireland, the sunrise Winter Solstice will be observed and celebrated between the dates of December 18th to the 23rd, 2019.

Since many people from around the world revere the Winter Solstice as a deeply spiritual time, that reason alone makes it an interesting topic to understand. We all know how fractional religious matters can be. Yet, Spirit seeks to unify the fragmented parts of the whole.

Different Views

Some think the Winter Solstice is a time of connection, quiet reflection, and profound joy. Others experience this time as busy, complicated, or even chaotic; and not just around planning celebrations or such. Sensitive or intuitive persons actually dream a lot or experience spiritual downloads of information!

Naturally, the hustle and bustle of the holiday season may make it difficult to find time for ourselves, but we can use the Winter Solstice as a way to excuse ourselves from some of the drama and overwhelm and take a pause. Yes, take some time and sit for awhile to reflect on your hopes, wishes and desires for the future.

It might also be a good time to contemplate about how your year went, and maybe set new intentions and realign your priorities.

Eastern beliefs offer an explanation of how the Solstices affect us. Not only symbolically, but in a very real sense; yin energy is the darkness before the Winter Solstice and then at sunrise, the dark opens to the lightness of the yang energy.

By seeking to first understand, we may actually give ourselves more space to live and let live, let go of the past and give ourselves a break from feeling the need to control.

Curiosity, Like Love, is Eternal

Like the spirals engraved on the neolithic and monolithic rocks at sites like, Knowth and Newgrange in Ireland and Stonehenge in England, humans have sought to leave their mark on the planet.

I listed Knowth first because some believe it to be the oldest of the astronomically-oriented structures built. Unfortunately, the caretakers of the Knowth site do not allow entrance into its chamber.

Exterior of the large mound at Knowth

Thankfully, near Knowth you can visit the larger site of Newgrange and go inside its tomb. However, to enter the burial chamber during the Winter Solstice sunrise, you must fill out a lottery application and be chosen to gain entry. The lucky few who win the opportunity to go inside the tomb at sunrise, get to see the rays of sunlight fill the chamber via a lightbox cut-out of the stones above the passageway entry. Those inside the chamber during sunrise will watch as sunlight fills the entire chamber, (weather permitting), for 17 precious minutes. Yes, it’s a very big deal and a once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Entrance to the Newgrange neolithic chamber

Interestingly, Stonehenge may be the world’s most famous prehistoric monument and sacred site to host the Summer and Winter Solstices that is aligned to the Winter Solstice sunset; while Newgrange only aligns to the Winter Solstice sunrise. I find this dichotomy intriguing.

The opportunity exists for all of us to visit these sacred sites and stir our inner curiosity about who and why all of the etchings were made on these gigantic stones. And we can be grateful that we are alive during this time in history when it is possible to visit these sacred sites.

I have been forever changed by visiting the West Kennet Long Barrow, (an Avebury site), Knowth, Newgrange and Stonehenge. Where allowed, I stood, walked, sat near and touched, many of these incredible stones; marveling their presence.

Last July, while meditating at Stonehenge inside the stone circle, I came to know of our “rightness to BE,” in the world. The experience quickly put me into a meditative state; when I am home, it takes me many minutes to reach that state of meditation. At Stonehenge, I became aware of why certain sites are sacred, and why, if we have the opportunity, we should protect them.

As I take the next long and luscious deep breath, I reach for the grace to continue to live and travel to these highly energetic places for many years to come. I want to take my granddaughters to these sites when they are of age.

Marking the Time

Nature shows us the effects of time. The inner rings on the trees mark the passing of years. Very few things last forever and no one agrees on the age of the neolithic structures that still stand on the earth.

Astronomically-speaking, the Winter Solstice marks the beginning of longer days and shorter nights. This is why it makes sense that as we head into the dark time of year, with shorter days, we allow ourselves the luxury of some time to journey within.

The Winter Solstice is observed by various cultures; not only Pagans and Druids. Eastern and Western cultures give meaning to the Solstice, because it marks the transition from darkness to light, or cold to warm.

In Japan, the Winter Solstice is a celebration of all things pertaining to the fruit Yuzu; that typically includes taking hot bath soaks filled with different tart citrus fruits. This event ushers in an important change in season. Cleansing rituals like celebrating the Solstice are honoring, both to us and our ancestors, before the earth makes another journey around our golden and life-giving sun.

Balance and Synchronicity

For me, this will be the first holiday I’ve experienced without my dad and third without my mom; at least in the physical sense, and I am an only child. Perhaps that is why the Universe has gifted me with so much recently; I’m thrilled, no matter the why or how!

I am simply grateful that through the use of all the holistic tools I have put into my proverbial “wellness toolbox,” I finally feel centered and balanced; even when emotionally triggered. Yay!

As an aside, one of my blog articles, “Why Am I So Emotional-Tips for Grief” was scheduled to be published on January 6th, 2020; that is my parent’s wedding anniversary! When I read the email from the Wellness Universe with that publishing date, I immediately sensed it was because my mom and dad are still with me in spirit. Truly, you can’t make this stuff up!

Yes, I see the synchronicity more clearly and feel this statement that was given to me spiritually or psychically years ago, even stronger now; “We Are ALL Connected.”

I write this as an aside, and that it’s a big reason why I am personally going to spend dedicated and focused time before and during the Winter Solstice to unpack my thoughts and set a new course for adventure!

I hope this article has been interesting and informative and that sometime soon you can experience the joy that awaits for you on the Winter Solstice in whatever way you observe this time marker.

I won a place for myself and a guest, (out of 30,861 lottery applications drawn by children from three different schools), to go inside the Newgrange burial chamber for the Winter Solstice sunrise on Dec. 18th, 2019 in Ireland and we are going! Stay tuned for the next post to read all about what mysteries it unlocks for me.

Thank you. Amen. Awomen. Namaste. OM

Moving into 5th density experience

5th density experience

I truly see where I’ve been moving into the 5th density of experience since 2005.

In the beginning

I became aware something profound was happening to me when I started getting GodBumps while talking about Conscious Living, expanding awareness, Christ Consciousness, raw vegan foods, Spirituality, etc. with coworkers. And I have been on a quest to discover “WHY” ever since.

Getting it

When you really GET Jesus (or the Christ, or Buddha, etc.) you no longer need the church, temple, etc. Going can be invigorating or fun, but you don’t need it.

An easy way to discern

You’ll find church to be wherever you hang out with others of like-mind and they will uplift you.

You don’t have to be brainwashed or programmed into a certain rigidity. Too narrow of a focus can lead to separation.

Virtuous Integration

If you want to experience the love of unity, apply and integrate what you’ve learned into your day to day. Practices do not need to become rituals, but deeper awareness while performing daily tasks. Pray without ceasing. Seek the meaning and lesson from every interaction.

Continue to become aware of your own virtues; the highest ideals and values of your life.

When you really GET why you came to live in a body, you’ll no longer need teachers or coaches. You can have fun with them and continue layering knowledge and wisdom gained into your system, but mostly everything you need to know can flow into you, if you are open to receive. Be an open vessel.

Layer upon layer new techniques or such, but understand why you are taking care of your body. You’ll live a wholly vibrant life!

Reasons people leave Church

  • Outgrow it – see through the programming
  • Have been offended
  • Not being told the Truth
  • Been traumatized or abused
  • Victimhood
  • Intolerance
  • Bashing other churches or faiths
  • Questioned too much
  • Gossip / slander
  • Infidelity
  • Sanctimonious attitudes
  • Hypocrisy

Now, don’t kill the thought messenger for pointing these things out. You are more than sheeple!

Our bodies are our temple

Having cleaned a branch church building for months and then being told to leave during a storm when shelter was needed, showed my mom which side those “good church members” were on—and it was not God’s. I could see right through them, though it took mom a bit longer to come around to that knowing. Those hypocrites were living in fear of the insurance company!

Ah, split energies! Know this: Jesus didn’t preach in churches!

Choose you this day how you will feel, and whom you will serve. Find your inner tranquility in each moment.

My being-ness resonated with this video.

I appreciated Neale’s transparency and Eckhart’s powerful stillness (even while he was speaking), as contradictory as that seems.

Bliss. Yes, the more we integrate and allow our Spirit to lead (instead of our Ego), in our daily activities, the more we feel it and know the truth of us.

No graven images

Why no graven images?

Primarily because graven images remind us of the past. And we are to live in the present moment. The dead do not need shrines. And everything man-made will be destroyed in the end. Everything is temporary.

God is ever-living Omniscience

Are you smarter than God? You think you are if you presume to know how God wants you to worship a particular religion. The knowing or “path” to LIMITLESS Source Energy Creator is a narrow one because most find it too difficult to let go of earthly material possessions and simply be present in every situation.

#Namaste #GodInYou #Holism

We are much more than we see. We are Spirit focused like a laser light beam into a physical body, with a lot of unseen energy round about us. ❤️🦋🌀

I pose this question to you: Where do I end and you begin?

What’s the outcome?

The Grand Beyond

Ah! The bliss and joy I feel when I imagine what the heavenly realm of the Grand Beyond is!

I imagine all the beautiful sunrises and sunsets one sees from the expansive view from the Grand Beyond.

What might it be like to reconnect with my loved ones in the Grand Beyond…

Even if I am not with my loved ones in the Grand Beyond after my Continuation Day, perhaps I will go on to create a new galaxy where many can enjoy the earthly fruits of their labor. And my loved ones can gaze upon that galaxy with awe. They may choose to join also!Oh, what a heavenly and splendid galaxy it will be!

I am writing a metaphysical novel that will explore the nature of these things, but for now, I will leave you with this:

When we wake from sleeping with a song in our head, sometimes even seeing famous people singing a song we’ve never heard before (and for some, they jump up and write the song), where does that come from?

Another dimension or the Grand Beyond?

Never alone. ALLways Connected.

Never alone

You are never alone. We are ALLways Connected.

Everyday life causes certain connections to occur.

Listen to this beautiful song by my friends Shelley Morningsong and Fabian Fontenelle.

We are always (ALLways) Connected. Yes, in ALL ways. Nothing is ever lost. Everything and everyone is interdependent and interrelated though we do not have keen enough senses to know it.

ALLWAYS Connected.

Intersecting points

The neighbor who may or may not smile at me and say “good morning” while I am walking my dog first thing, before I’ve gotten ready for work, or maybe before I’ve even had my shower (if it’s on the weekend).

The office clerk I may run into when I go to check our mail.

The woman in a mad rush in traffic that cut me off and nearly caused an accident.

The store cashier who takes, or accepts graciously, the money for purchases.

The bag boy or girl who usually offers to help me out to the car with my purchases.

The customer service agent who handled my issue perfectly or perhaps, being new on the job got her so stressed out that she couldn’t think clearly to remember how to resolve the issue, leaving me on hold for what seemed like an eternity.

The restaurant service worker who makes a living serving food to others.

The farmer who is under an immense responsibility to feed millions.

The entrepreneur who works tirelessly to bring about the next big thing into our lives.

The masterful health practitioner who cares more about helping, encouraging, and educating people on how to get and stay well, versus pushing pharmaceuticals.

The television or movie producer who spent countless sleepless nights worrying if anyone would watch their show, only for it to impact millions in an emotional and positive way.

The songwriter (like my husband) who longs for the world to hear the heart and care put into their words and music.

The soldier (police, firefighter, teacher, or other public servant) who does the right thing to keep us safe, even if it means questioning authority.

Take a step outside

Step a foot outside and see.

Everything can change in an instant.

We are all connected in so many direct and subtle ways. How can anyone deny it?

See my previous post.

A Sacred Celtic Journey (Part 1): Ireland

Sacred Celtic Journey: Ireland

Thursday June 27

My husband (who had not flown in over 20 years due to experiencing a near crash in Reno) and I departed on a night flight out of Orlando, Florida for a life-affirming, adventurous 18 day spiritual vacation to the British Isles. This was quite the big deal for us, since it was also my first 2 week vacation from work in 40 years! Why (at nearly the last minute) my husband felt he had to come along: https://sheilamurrey.net/2019/03/21/eulogy-for-my-amazing-father-nelson-williams/

But I digress for a moment. Prior to the sacred sites package part of our trip beginning, we arrived in Dublin, Ireland on Friday, June 28 to have a free day exploring Dublin city centre and prepare for a full day Game of Thrones tour on Saturday.

Our GoT tour did not disappoint! It was amazing! Our tour guide, Eric, had been an extra on the show for 8 seasons and totally knew his stuff. He gave us inside information about the show, behind-the-scenes, making of, the locations, and much more! He brought every location to life! He brought 8.5 x 11 inch laminated photos for us all to link the locations to scenes from the show to give us a point of reference, and to enable us to relive our tour whenever we rewatched the show! Excellent!

We had not expected it to be so physical, but we walked and hiked over 14,000 steps (equating to about 7 miles) over hilly terrain. We were pleased that we had the stamina to do it though, as it was quite the extraordinary experience! For more specifics on that day tour–click [placeholder for link to come later].

Our Sacred Celtic Journey tour included:

  • 12 night’s accommodations; we tacked on additional nights (before and after) to really make the most of it. Ultimately, we were so glad we did!
  • Transportation to/from airports and hotels to magnificent sites
  • Several meals with our group
  • Entry fees to parks and exhibits

Locations / Itinerary of our Sacred Celtic Journey:

Sunday, June 30

In Dublin, we visited St. Stephen’s Green and attended the opening ceremony “get-to-know-you” meeting with our group at a covered pavilion in this lovely city park. After hearing everyone’s intro stories and reasons for being on this trip, I resonated with unbounded JOY!

We stopped by this bench, the story of which I knew nothing about, held hands and said prayers for the historical women who had been so maligned and mistreated.

We walked through the city to an Irish pub for lunch–The Bankers Bar, where a sweetheart of a guy sang an Irish song to Susan when she ordered the Irish coffee, and Patricia (Patricia McGivern, certified hypnotist, author, and speaker and amazing leader of this tour) joined our table to hear Richard talk about UFOs.

Next, it was off to Trinity college to see the Book of Kells.

I was in awe of the whole place and had so been looking forward to this! However, the book was nice, but not as stupendous as I had expected. And similar to Disney, when you exit downstairs, you can’t leave without going through the gift shop. I made a mental note to look online later for souvenirs.

Don’t get me wrong, I was totally enthralled with the upstairs library and was told that students of Trinity college could check out books from it. Some of these books are worth a lot and are hidden!

After leaving the Book of Kells, our group walked through Dublin to dinner, seeing many sights such as the Ha’Penny bridge and taking photos along the way.

We dined with our group (well, part of our group) at another Bankers restaurant (not related to the lunch place), The Bank on College Green, which was fine dining and gorgeous. We sat in separate rooms (it’s not always easy to get 15 people seated together) and made the most of it by playing “table wars” with the other members of our group that weren’t seated near us.

It was a blast and our servers had a lot of fun taking part in that with us too! 😉

This light and fluffy strawberry cheesecake and sorbet dessert was like none I’d experienced before! Not too sugary. Yum!

This particular evening, we stayed at the lovely Trinity City Hotel. Note: Before our group had all arrived, my husband and I stayed at the modern Gibson hotel, which was a luxurious treat! (More about that on the next post.)

After dinner, a few of us met outside the hotel bar and heard lots of stories from an Irish tour guide, Amon (who was Scottish and not one of our guides), whom Pharon had met at the lobby elevator. He was lively and we all enjoyed his company. I kept looking up at the skylight because it was so light out at 10:30pm!

Monday, July 1

The next day we met Tony Corcoran, our tour bus guide and driver (of Wild Irish Tours), who took us to Westmead to meet a local named, Marty, who would give us all the ins and outs about Uisneach.

Uisneach, known to many as the spiritual center of ancient Ireland, was grand and magnificent. With soft grass, cows, and spectacular views of the countryside, it was even more spectacular to have it all to ourselves for a few hours.

At Usineach we walked many hilly acres, while Marty told us stories about the land and the annual Bealtaine Fire Celebration that occurs here.

I felt a heavy energy when I approached the circle where British soldiers had placed a stone marker. I acknowledged the powerful energy and when I walked away, it dissipated. On our way to the Catstone (a huge rock that not every visitor is allowed to see), my husband and I held back from the group a bit and spent some time with the trees, stones, and land. I loved the stones buried in the earth, the lush windswept grass, and the large clover.

At the Catstone, my first thought was, “I am watching you, rock. Don’t you move, rock.” from one of our favorite shorts, Dug’s Special Mission from the Pixar movie, Up. Mostly, I fondly admired the daisies growing up and out of the Catstone like hair. 😉

To help show the immensity of the Catstone, I’ll include a picture of our group:

While walking, Tony had told us a friend of his had died the night before and I expressed my sympathy and told him about my dad. As we walked together, I talked about the 200 acres my dad’s father had farmed in West Virginia and how this place reminded me of it. He patted me on my back and expressed his sympathy for me. Is that what Connection is all about?

Oh, and I had a “conversation” with the happy cows we saw. I felt connected with them too!

During the time I walked the lands of Uisneach, I thought of my family (my uncle Jim because he’s a woodworker, and my first cousin Greg because he’d love this place for the annual festival they hold and the cool vibe), and I took some pictures for them.

After leaving Uisneach, Tony knew of this aWEsOMe place for lunch called, Red Earth. It was a delicious food stop and store, where grabbed some snacks too! I loved it as much for their mouth-watering food, as I did for their butterfly logo! 🦋

I had the vegetarian green curry, which was the best I’d ever had!

And yes, I had to snap a quick selfie. LOL

And my husband really enjoyed his tantalizing burger too!

After an enjoyable lunch, it was on to Loughcrew. Since, for us, it was the second day (after our 7 mile GoT hike on Saturday, and our 10,000+ step day on Sunday) and the day our legs were the most sore, Richard and I stayed behind at the cafe while the group hiked to the stones. We shopped a bit, read about the place, and enjoyed carrot cake, coffee, and wine at the splendid Loughcrew cafe.

I was happy to have a break from the walking and realign my energy with a glass of delicious dry red wine. The name of it started with a U, something like “Undone” or “Unbroken” and it was from Chile.

I loved our group, especially Patricia, our fearless leader and organizer. She really had put together a most spectacular journey for us. And this was just the first of three countries! For me though, a spiritual journey means peace, quiet, slow, and time to “just BE.” And I was happy that Patricia encouraged us right from the get-go, to take care of our bodies. NOTE: From my NOW perspective, I understand why sometimes a spiritual journey must be a pilgrimage. Ahh, learning all the time!

Later on, Tony drove our group to the town of Kells, where we stayed one night. Kells is said to be the place (at the Kells monastery) that the monks kept the Book of Kells hidden and safe (during times of raids and wars). Tony told us a bit more about that and suggested we walk back up to the monastery (that we rode past) from our hotel, but hubby and I were too tired.

A nice thing about being in a group is that if you miss something, like the High Crosses, someone else will take a picture or video. I took tons of little videos on our trip because we really did see a lot!

In Kells, we stayed at the Headfort Arms hotel. It was a nice place, but the bathtubs have a very narrow bottom (they kind of slope inwards) under the showerhead. Perhaps they were made more for soaking than showering. And I don’t mean to complain, as overall, it was lovely.

We ate dinner together as a group and talked a lot! Getting to know everyone in our group was one of the best parts of traveling this way! One of the coolest parts was learning of new shows and books to dig into. I was amazed how we all came together for this journey from so many different traditions (directions).

Tuesday, July 2

We visited Knowth and Newgrange, and both are noted to be older than Stonehenge & the Egyptian pyramids! Newgrange was the place of the blue light and spiral stone carvings that had magnetized me to take this tour!

Knowth was really amazing! The size of the mounds, as well as the number of them, really surprised me. The views from here were also grand. We could see Newgrange from Knowth.

We got to go inside and explore the megalithic tombs at Newgrange–they wouldn’t let people in the tomb at Knowth anymore. It’s sad and frustrating that some people carve or mark these ancient artifacts and ruin it for those who come later.

I FELT the Energy at Knowth. It was palpable! And I sensed a strong connection both for my mom and myself here when I saw the small white stones that looked so much like the Georgia white marble stones my mother just had to have in the home she and my dad built in West Virginia in the 1970s.

The construction of the mound at Newgrange was different than the mounds at Knowth. But many of the carvings were similar. Plus, we got to go inside the mound at Newgrange and experience a short light show (which simulated the sun coming through) and historical talk. Photos were not allowed inside though.

Later that day, we went to the Hill of Tara to visit its Stone of Destiny. Another bit of a hike, but we all wanted to see it.

Tony told us amazing Irish folk stories (that are passed down verbally within families) while we sat near a special healing tree at the Hill of Tara. I was moved to tears while he told a story about a midwife that had been told to children to scare them away from digging under the tree. It was so multifaceted and layered that it touched my heart deeply and I felt cleansed and wiped out afterwards.

Synchronistically, as Tony was telling the story a young girl walked behind him (like a scene out of a movie) and I thought of my granddaughter, Jennifer, and how intricately interwoven our lives are.

Before we left, Tony also told my husband, myself, and John, an amazing story about his Keyes/Keays lineage, and also about bog Myrtle (which calms nerves and can be put on skin to clear acne). We loved all the wisdom stories we heard and soaked it in.

Afterwards, Tony (of Wild Irish Tours) drove us to Glendalough in the Wicklow mountains and told us about the trail across the street from the hotel. Our group said our thanks and goodbyes to Tony and he was on his way. We felt very privileged to have met him and hope to see him and meet his wife when they travel to Florida.

We experienced gentle healing, emotional support, and peace in Glendalough our entire stay. And we genuinely loved the Glendalough hotel–our room was lovely with a view of the beautiful grounds, the restaurant was fantastic, and the bar was comfortable and fun!

We spent two nights here, but felt we could have stayed 4 or 5 days, as it was that important and special.

From our hotel room window, I watched this hawk! And I fell in love with these trees.

I walked the labyrinth and spotted a family of deer. I experienced an emotional healing at St. Kevin’s well and was stung by stinging nettle. Synchronicities being as they are, stinging nettle tea is very good for the lungs and I had been drinking it for about a year, since visiting my girls in New Hampshire!

Wednesday, July 3

While in Glendalough we had our first of three past life group regressions with Patricia. Plus, Patricia had arranged for our group to meet and learn about the softness of Celtic Spirituality from Mary Meighan. And Mary was exceptional. We all wanted to bring her home with us!

Celtic Spirituality, as turns out, was an outgrowth of Paganism (though not the same, and not what we expected). We learned the history of Brigid, the softness and gentleness of Celtic Spirituality, and that it’s all about an invitation to walk the “tread easy upon the earth” path–giving more than taking, versus a hell and damnation fear-based faith.

Before Mary left, she gave us an Irish blessing and taught us an easy chant. And we all took turns holding and connecting with her ancient carving of Brigid, as shown next.

My past life regression–Glendalough

If you haven’t had a past life regression, the following may seem outlandish to you. But this was only one of a series I’ve experienced with Patricia, and she’s masterful. Even if you don’t believe in reincarnation, think of it as a creative writing exercise. You breathe and allow your mind to flow along with Patricia’s words and become deeply relaxed. I won’t explain it away though, as for me, it is a profoundly personal and metaphysical experience. And even if you’re “making it all up”, what’s the impetus for it?

I was already in a meditative state upon sitting to begin our group regression. My field of vision (with my eyes closed) had become filled with the indigo and cobalt blue color (which has been a thing for me since my first one-on-one regression). However, before we actually got started, one of our group, Dave, asked if we could go around the room and offer comments about our experiences thus far. I could have nudged him, as he was sitting beside me, but in the state I was in, I easily let that all go. And by the time three or four had spoken, someone (I later learned it was Trudy), shared something that sent gentle tears flowing freely down my cheeks. John shared, and then Carol. Carol’s father had passed and her emotions were raw. I don’t remember the exact words she said, but they resonated thoroughly within me. When it was my turn, still from a meditative state, I offered words that both Carol and Trudy told me later were healing for them. I don’t know what I said, but I remember the whole feeling of thanks that reverberated through me. I was in utter Gratitude for life, and for this TIME.

As Patricia started the regression, my conscious mind followed Patricia’s voice, and now in a deeply relaxed state, I looked for my feet. But, I didn’t have any! I was a sea creature with an eel-like tail (instead of feet), a long thin body and long angular face. But the best part? I had these brightly colored, cellular deep, spinning, “all-the-way-through my translucent body” chakras, (but I had just watched Aquaman on the flight over, so one might say my subconscious picked up cues from it). However, I watched Aquaman again, after we got home, and no, what I saw was much grander and more detailed than what the creatures looked like in that movie.

As this underwater creature, I wasn’t able to cry, and it was made known to me (in my regression) that is why I had came back as a human. You see, underwater you can’t feel tears against your skin. For work, I was sitting in a field of labradorite stones! And in my real current life, I love those stones! They had a kind of hieroglyphic type of carving on them. But, I’ll share more about why this is important in a later post. Stay tuned!

After our group experience inside the hotel conference room, we went outside to the well and healing tree. I tied a blade of greenery to the tree in memory of my dad (who passed away in March of this year). Mary told me to ask my grandmother (spiritually) to comfort me both for that and the nettles sting. And she did!

Thursday, July 4

I woke up at 5:30am and by 6:45am, I was hiking alone on Wicklow Way (across from the hotel). This is where I fortuitously saw a deer family. The baby even tried to nurse, but mama deer saw me and nudged her away–or she was weaning it. Nonetheless, I felt quite special witnessing this family of three, and before I left, another deer appeared also. Then in a flash, they ran off through the thicket. I thought of my mom, dad, and me. Because this was a family of three, just as we had been. And I remembered my dad telling me in recent years, how he couldn’t shoot deer anymore. He’d been a deer hunter most of his life (skilled with both bow and arrow and rifle). He told me that he could see the natural beauty in them. I knew he had a soft spot for them because as a teen he’d shared that he couldn’t eat the venison of deer he’d killed and cleaned.

I loved the purple flowers, which Beverly told me were foxglove (a type of digitalis). I also loved the ferns, thatched roofs, moss, and stone walls (some with little faerie holes in them).

I also meandered through the cemetery. I went back to the room to get hubby for breakfast and after that, we walked through the cemetery again and to the lake.

We departed at 11am for the Dublin airport to fly to Bristol, England. Stay tuned for my next two posts about that. I have so many pictures to share. And you will be stunned by our pictures and experiences of Stonehenge (inside the stones)!!!

“Whenever a knight of the Grail tried to follow a path made by someone else, he went altogether astray. Where there is a way or path, it is someone else’s footsteps. Each of us has to find his own way, and this is what gives our Occidental world its initiative and creative quality. Nobody can give you a mythology. The images that mean something to you, you’ll find in your dreams, in your visions, in your actions – and you’ll find out what they are after you’ve passed them.” — Joseph Campbell

How ONLY divides

How the use of the word “only” divides

Holy Bible

In many translations of the Holy Bible, you read in John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” When one quotes this verse, it can trigger emotions in some, because we presume that if we don’t believe Jesus is the only son of God, we will perish (die). Therefore, this verse is perhaps the most divisive and intriguing verse in the New Testament. And it has perplexed me for many years since the Bible also offers many verses that teach we are ALL sons and daughters of God. There’s a couple things here though. John 3:16 doesn’t say anyone who doesn’t believe that Jesus is the son of God will perish, but that those who DO believe, will live forever. Everyone dies eventually in this current life, so we really need to understand what the word “perish” means. Also, John 3:16 points to Jesus as God’s only begotten (of Him), so it speaks of Jesus as God’s singular son. The verses that tell us we are ALL sons and daughters of God, use the plural form of the words “son/daughter.” I know that’s nit picky, but if we want to understand, then it’s important to dissect this carefully and understand definitions and that translations differ.

Spiritually Yours

A yellow butterfly (years ago), was the real beginning of my Connected spiritual and energetic “journey”… About 1990 I had been visiting the grave of my second husband’s mom (she had passed a year before I’d met him; he had taken me there several times to visit her grave as that was his belief), when a yellow butterfly lit upon my shoulder and wouldn’t leave. Though I flicked at it to go away, it stuck around what seemed like 5 minutes or more, until new clarity entered my thoughts. And years earlier (Christmas time 1980) I glimpsed the power of Omniscience after a guy backed into my mom’s car in a parking lot while my infant daughter and I were sitting in it waiting! He had driven away (yes, it was a hit and run) and I commanded him invoking Jesus’ name to return. When he turned around and returned, mom asked him why, and he didn’t know, but I knew. He felt compelled! ❤️🌀🙏

Differing Beliefs

Thus, we can choose to believe Jesus is the only son of God, the risen living Christ, or not. For those who believe, there is glorious love and hope. However, for those who do not believe Jesus is the son of God, they can find love and hope also. No one needs to argue or fight over who’s right or wrong. There’s no “one true church.” No one needs to prove their God is bigger than another. I don’t need to limit my beliefs to “people please” anyone. This may come as a shock to you, but the Bible was not written for ALL people. In the first book of the Old Testament Genesis 4:16 we read that, “And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.” Obviously, there were other people with other beliefs before Adam and Eve were created! And the powerful good news is that our Creator God is Omnipotent, Omnipresent, and Omniscient Energy–which means God has already and is continuing to work everything out. Let go, and let God. We only see through the glass darkly right now. And I think most of us are mature enough to realize that the “powers that be” love to keep the masses dumb, confused, arguing, and bickering in order to better control us. Remember a house divided cannot stand. The earth is a garden with many different life forms. Can we pass the test to live harmoniously? How can we consciously co-create and work to unify, when we are always arguing about our different core beliefs? Even among “lightworkers” there is division. Then again, if we were to apply nature (such as the Fibonacci sequence), maybe “division” is a natural occurrence and all we need to do is work on making our part of the pattern beautiful! ❤️🦋🌀 Knowing these things, I choose to thank Omniscience in and for ALL ways. This centers me and fills me with peace. Love is ALL there is. #GRATITUDE ❤️🦋🌀☘️🙏😘

Spirituality is for ALL

Omniscience

The reason I write and speak so much about Omniscience is because that word, instead of God, transcends ALL. Omniscience transcends boundaries. Omniscience overlays all other belief systems. Omniscience allows.

There is a Grace to Omniscience, Omnipresence.

Omniscience transcends ALL
Omniscience transcends ALL

Labels

If one is a Christian, you know Omniscience.

If one is Jewish, you know Omniscience.

If one is Muslim, you know Omniscience.

If one is Pagan, you know Omniscience.

No matter what other label you are, you know Omniscience. You know the Energy that transcends ALL.

Places

There is no need for church, temple, synagogue, mosque, or other external structure. You don’t need to go anywhere to BE with Omniscience.

Omniscience is with you wherever you are.

Acceptance

Omniscience meets you in whatever condition you are in. Sad, lonely, depressed, in despair, or on the verge of cRaZy.

Omniscience cares for you, loves you, adores you, and finds you worthy.

One can label God and think of God as a personage, but as soon as you make this distinction, the opportunity is open for opposition and disagreement. If you want to find a way to agree and connect in Unity, it’s easier to go general and adopt the highest view of Source.

Spirituality

You are a fractal of Omniscience. And Omniscience envelopes you. Omniscience is in, through, and all around you. And you are important. You are not merely dust in the wind.

Spirituality, or BEing spiritual, is knowing Omniscience IS.

Connection

Kiss your hand. Feel the Energy of your body. Feel the essence of life.

Prayer seeks Omniscience to listen. Mindfulness, meditation, and flowing in a soul-connected way to create something are ways you can listen to Omniscience. Be available for that communication.

We Are All Connected.

Your soul-aligned friend in Connection.

Many blessings to you in ALL ways.

What is a lie?

Defining a lie

Depending upon the dictionary you use, when you look up the word “lie” and try to define it, you’ll find that it’s mostly referred to as some sort of deception, false impression, or intentionally untrue statement.

So, a lie then, is defined as the opposite of truth. Right? It’s something that’s untrue.
Or is it?

Opposition

Is the lie the opposing viewpoint?
Is it a lie because it goes against what you KNOW, or perceive to be true?
Many years ago, I used to say that my ex could lie to me and tell me the sky was black, though I knew it was blue. And that he was so good at it, so convincing, he’d make me look at the sky again to be sure.
I used to get so angry (mad) when he, or anyone would lie to me! Grrr… what planet were they from? Why would they lie? To get what they wanted?

But now I wonder. What if a lie is really just another way of looking at something?

Let’s imagine we’re standing at a tree. A tree that is full of leaves.
The side of the tree you’re looking at has green leaves, so you make an assumption that all of the leaves of the tree are green. But, what if someone else is standing on the other side of the tree, and there are a few yellow or reddish colored leaves on that side.
Even if we care about the person standing over there, we might get defensive when our friend states they love the yellow leaves they’re seeing. We may disagree or argue our point, even without walking around to the other side!
So, how can we know for sure what colors the leaves are on the other side of the tree?
Like the yellow leaves on the other side of that tree, opposite from where you are standing, a lie is something someone else thinks they know.
They’ll defend “their truth” about yellow leaves until the cows come home!
But, you can’t see the yellow leaves, so you think they’re wrong, nuts, or crazy.

Allow the other perspective

Instead, why not just allow the other person to have his or her understanding of it?
And what difference does any of it make anyway?
We don’t always have to be right after all? And if we do, then that’s our ego.
What if a lie is the other perspective that you are unable to understand?
Think about a conversation where someone says something that you believe is untrue. It makes you mad. You fight it. The anger about the lie becomes intense within you.
Where do you feel that anger?
How do you feel it?
Isn’t it bizarre that you can actually FEEL the weight, or density of the negative energy?

Ahh, there’s almost a substance to it.

Thus, emotion scribes energy to the cellophane (the invisible realm where energy is stored before/after it becomes matter).
What???

Imagine

Now, I realize your head may have just exploded, but try to follow this:
Imagine that there’s a sheet of cellophane between you and the person you are having a heated conversation with.
When you allow their perception (their version of the truth) to upset you, you speak some charged words.
The energy from your words sticks in the cellophane.
The next time someone walks through that cellophane, especially a sensitive person (sensitive to energies), they FEEL that dense energy–almost like a heaviness in the air!

For your consideration

So, the next time someone lies to you, consider first, that they are only sharing their perspective with you. You may not agree. You may not like it.
When someone lies to you, especially if it’s about a really important subject, tell yourself that they are in a different reality. And FEEL if this lightens the weight of the lie.
Just as I no longer believe that a lie is wrong or bad, I also no longer believe there’s such a thing as false hope. For any hope at all, whether it is based on fact or fiction, is still hope.
Let’s assign truth and hope the number 1 and a lie and false hope the number 0.
1+0 = 1
Thus, we see that the even when we try to add something false to something true, we still have something true. It’s only our perception that is limited.
Remember that HOPE is the substance of things not yet seen. Not yet seen! Not real yet. Not actual yet.
So, let’s say someone tells you a lie about a topic that you don’t care much about. You can shrug it off easily, right?

However, when someone tells you a lie about love, about someone you love, or that they don’t love you, that lie drains you of energy, right?

Ask yourself

Similar to a battery that only has enough power to keep it going, though not enough to start the engine, a lie about the existence of love pulls energy out of you.
Why?
Because WE are all LOVE in our core and anything that shuts down or restricts that love FEELS bad to us.
Perspectives. It’s all about perspectives and perception.

How do each of these two statements make you feel?
I love that you make me laugh!
Versus
I love to laugh at you!

The Kaleidoscope

Check out these two images from the same kaleidoscope, that was simply turned a bit:
fuschia teal dark blue kaleidoscope
fuschia teal dark blue kaleidoscope

gold teal kaleidoscope

Pick up a kaleidoscope and peer into it, notice the myriad perspectives available to you. The fractals involved in the patterns created. And when, because you will, you cannot help to do so, move it the slightest bit the light will hit the items within it, and you’ll see different colors and patterns. For this is the way of the kaleidoscope. This is also the way of the interconnectedness of the universe.
I hope this helps to lighten you today, and step a bit lighter on the earth.

Be the person your Soul knows you are!

I love you.
You are enough.
You are worthy of love.

There is a line in George Michael’s song, Freedom, that asks of us: “all we have to do now, is to take these lies and make them true somehow.” And the answer I received about its meaning was:

When you can (though you may never be adept enough in every circumstance) take a lie, or what you perceive as a lie, and can find a truth (as opposed to THE truth) in it, then that is real Freedom. Freedom in one’s mind.

Namaste. OM

Note: This post is NOT about condoning lies or compulsive liars (certainly no one needs to stay with people who habitually act like that), it’s about feeling better, coming to terms, or forgiving someone when it occurs. Learn and move on. It’s all YOUR choice.

How can you know your Soul?

Knowing your Soul

Some people feel it. They feel their soul within their body when they’re in the groove, happy, and sensing elation.

Some sing with soul and love soul music. And while that’s aWEsOMe, that’s not exactly what I’m referring to in this post.

When I meditate I connect with my soul. I yawn to bring in more oxygen to feed and nourish my soul (that resides in my blood). I integrate spirit into my soul. I clear out whatever is not needed. I release old traumas. Perhaps, even past life traumas.

How can you know your soul
How can you know your soul

How can you really “know” your Soul?

From what I’ve learned in the last five years

  • Your Soul knows why you are here, but you may not realize why you’re here–yet
  • Your Soul is not good or bad, it’s just your true Self, the part of you that has always been and will continue to be
  • Your Soul is your essence, your most honest Self
  • Your Soul is the real you
  • As you open your “real eyes” to your Soul, it will emerge
  • When you are in alignment with your Soul, you’ll feel good
  • You may want to defend why you’re here to others, but you don’t have to, just let them move on (They have their own path)
  • Your Soul will draw the people, places, and things to you that you need, because you don’t really need much (in the physical) to accomplish what you came here for
  • Your Soul has everything it needs for you to accomplish what you came here for–just listen
  • Sit with, meditate,  pray, listen–you’ll know what to do
  • Take action when prompted–you’ll feel a push or pull
  • When you are ready, a teacher will appear–look, listen, feel, and learn

When you are in alignment with your Soul

  • You’ll feel on fire
  • You’ll feel on purpose
  • You’ll feel appreciation for everything
  • You’ll feel gratitude even when you can’t figure out what you’re grateful for
  • People will say that you’re glowing
  • Your eyes will sparkle or twinkle and people will notice it, and the ones who are living in alignment with their Soul, will tell you
  • Your voice will be strong and full of compassion
  • Things  you used to find to be difficult will just sort of flow, or fall easily into place
  • Some people may call you lucky
  • You’ll sense that your ambition fills you with Energy, even when you’re physically tired
  • You won’t feel lonely, sad, depressed, or stressed, because your Soul will be motivating you to action
  • And you’ll always have something to do, something going on, not busy work, Soul directed joyful tasks
  • You’ll sense a confidence in your manner that you may not have ever felt before
  • Action in alignment with your Soul will somehow move mountains
  • You’ll want to nurture your Soul
  • You’ll be drawn to seek out your Soul more and more, and Connect with it

On the path

Your Soul, when you are on a path of DOING what you came to do, will cause you to feel wonderful good feeling emotions (Energy in motion)!  You may feel a tingle, small electric kind of charge, or even goose bumps–what I call God bumps.

The Soul

The concept of the Soul. When we breathe in from the larger part of Spirit, a bit of Spirit (carried by oxygen) mixes with our blood to become our Soul. As oxygen enlivens us (our blood), we express Spirit, and feel our Soul.

Note: As you start to know your Soul, you may notice that your Ego may take a hit. Just know that going into this work, as your Ego is grown out of your Beliefs (conditioning, or “programming”), but your Soul is your Truth, which must always take precedence. Your Soul shall preempt your Ego. And that’s good. Let it Be.

Be the person your Soul knows you are!

The Reconnected Friendship Quilt — A Christmas Story

There once was a friend (me) who let down another friend. At the time, I doubt that I had much of an idea how much I had upset the apple cart of the friendship, but thankfully, a few weeks ago, it was brought to my attention, and I was given a beautiful opportunity to genuinely apologize and heal a past hurt. And I hope, and believe it was, a beautiful healing experience for us both.

Now, for the story…

A few months ago, I saw a picture on Facebook of a wall hanging quilt that a distanced, long-time friend of mine had created. The colors and energetic patterns within each hand-sewn square really pulled me in. And though we had not talked in years, except for a few minutes at her niece’s Celebration of Life memorial service (over a year ago), well, this quilt resonated so much with me that I jumped to ask her about it! And perhaps boldly of me, I asked if she might craft a King size quilt like it for me!

Patties wall hanging quilt.jpg

I loved it! The colors, pattern, and workmanship was outstanding! To my joy, she agreed to make a King size quilt for my husband and I, but not like the one I had seen, because of the size. The quilt I had commented on was much smaller (only a wall hanging).

However, that was a good thing because it meant we would get to chat a number of times about colors, design, and so forth. I took some measurements of our bed, and asked my husband too, about colors, design, and so forth.

We did all of our chats via Facebook. This might not sound like an important aspect of the story, but trust me, it is.

I wanted a King size version of mostly brown, blue, and green–in a Native American kind of design. It didn’t have to be traditional. In fact, I would have been happy with anything–as long as Pattie made it.

Our Christmas Star.JPG

I told Pattie that I’d cherish the quilt for years to come. What she didn’t know was that in the last ten years or so, I’ve learned that mostly only the things people have given to me, or that were personally made for me, hold any kind of special emotional attachment. Other things are nice, pretty, useful, etc. but if they all went away, the only ones I’d miss, are the few that were given to me by family that didn’t give often, or were from my home state or town, or were handmade. And living in an RV for the last seven years, I’ve had to be quite discerning over size, weight, and quantity of items I chose to keep and hold dear.

All the while Pattie and I chatted about the quilt on Facebook, I didn’t know that our friendship was kind of mending too! There was healing occurring. And that’s always a good thing.

Also, at the time I commissioned this work, I had not considered how I’d get it, whether she would ship it, or I’d pick it up, etc. I certainly hadn’t given any thought to having the opportunity to meet in person, with some time to visit and enjoy a beautiful lunch!

Closeup.JPG

So, when Pattie was done with the quilt, I asked her if we could meet halfway, instead of her shipping it. That way, she could get to know my husband too, and we could have a nice lunch, somewhere midway from where we live (since we live about three hours from each other). She agreed. We talked about where we would meet. Finalizing on our plans, we set a date and time.

When the day arrived, we texted to make sure we were each on our way. I was super excited to be able to hang out with Pattie, catch up, and of course, receive our quilt.

We met at an eastern European bistro restaurant that we love. We shared some different and unique foods, and had plenty of time to relieve some of our past, share how my husband and I met, and so forth. And then came the question I had not expected.

I had not remembered or probably fully ever realized or known why we had quit talking. Thankfully, Pattie refreshed my memory, so that I had the opportunity to apologize. We held hands and tears flowed. Cleansing. Forgiveness. Allowing. I am so glad we had this time. Not just to relieve past hurts, but to understand. To process the pain that had been caused, and to allow the hurt to shift (even if only a little bit), so that over the coming days and weeks, we could “let it go.”

I know that for many of us, taking the time to be heard, to ask what’s wrong, or tell another what’s wrong, ask for forgiveness, or forgive, can be the hardest thing to do. But God, it’s so worth it!

And chatting via Facebook or text doesn’t communicate all of our emotions, plus, as we all know it doesn’t allow us to exchange vibrational energy.

I’m not perfect. I’ve made my share of mistakes in my life and I own each one, taking full responsibility.

But yesterday is gone. And today is all we have. I’m not just saying this in a philosophical way, but in a real time, honest-to-goodness, way. The person I am today is different than I used to be. I feel more deeply. I love more generously. And when I need to, I discern and draw better boundaries. But mostly, I am more open to receive.

So, this Christmas, I wanted to take this moment to tell those who have been in my life how very special they are to me. You are loved. You are cherished. You make up the tapestry of my life, because you’ve been in so many of my experiences. We may live far apart. Or we may not talk often. But you make me who I am.

You are worthy. You are loved.

Our unique experiences are each a thread within a tapestry, or quilt, of one’s life. And We Are All Connected.

Quilt with sock monkey.JPG

Note the sock monkey on the bed! He was handmade for me when I was born by a dear family friend–and he has went everywhere with me, every move, of which there have been many.

A few folks who have seen this quilt have commented of Pattie’s exquisite precision sewing and design work. So much so, that one gentlemen has already put in an order for a similar quilt.Binding and thickness.JPG

I should also add that this quilt is oh so very comfortable to sleep under! It’s not too thick like a comforter, so in Florida we can use it all year.

I only quilt with words. My husband quilts with music. But my friend Pattie quilts with fabric & thread and turns memories and forgiveness into tangible ‘heart-work’ that can (and in our case, will) last for generations.

May you be blessed for 2017 and always, in All ways.

An enchanting soul retreat in Sedona Arizona: Journey Into Self

Soul retreat in Sedona, Arizona

At least once in your life, take a vacation to nourish and soothe your soul! That’s what I did, and what this blog post is about… that which I will forever call my “soul retreat.”

When I first got the email from Alania Starhawk that she and Patricia McGivern were planning a “Journey Into Self” retreat in Sedona Arizona, I didn’t know if I could get the time off work, find the extra money to pay for it, or even, what my husband would say (as I’ve never taken a vacation “just for me” before)… But above all else, I KNEW that my SOUL wanted to go!!!

How did I know?

History

I had been to Sedona only for a few hours, 26 years ago with a few girls from my Speech class in college. We had been in Prescott Arizona, not far from Sedona, to put on a play at another campus of my university.

sheila preparing for ERAU play 1990.jpgsheila and girls day out driving during 1990 AZ trip.jpg

Having had some free time one day all those years ago, a couple of us girls decided to drive our rental car from Prescott to Jerome and Sedona.

On that drive, we had stopped at a little old roadside bookstore where I met an precious elder Native American Indian man. I fell in love with the Indian history he began telling me about, and all the books in that store. But because I was with other girls, and we were short on time, I politely told him I’d have to go. However, then I said three little words that have haunted me for years. I told him, “I’ll be back.”

While I never forgot those words, considering them as important as a promise, life got in the way, family vacations, reunions, and work trips, so for many years Sedona had to stay on the back burner. Although, Sedona was always calling me.

Invitation

So, the particular morning I received Alania’s email invitation, I wanted to leap to my feet! My soul resonated with such vibrancy at the very thought that I could travel back to the enchanting land of Sedona… my intentions roared and I knew I had to go–no matter what!

Logistically, it would mean that I would have to get on a plane, perhaps two, because it’s quite a distance from where I live to get to Sedona and the airfare was not included in the retreat fee. And then, there would be all the explaining I would need to do, as no one in my family had ever even heard me talk about taking a vacation on my own. Plus, I’d have to take time off from work, and the date the trip began on was an important calendar date for my family also!

Normally on this particular date, I’d be in New Hampshire visiting my beautiful daughter and wonderful granddaughter for my granddaughter’s birthday. But in a flash I realized that blessedly this year my daughter’s father and his wife were going to visit our girls in New Hampshire. So, MY schedule was FREE! Wow!!! What perfect alignment! I began to become aware that destiny was calling…

And so it was. I kept my promise. I went back to Sedona. Boy, did I go back!!

The drive

miles-of-cactus

Even the drive from Phoenix to Sedona had it share of sights! I was curious about the cacti (plural for cactus) that we were seeing along the highway. I was told that many of these cacti were over one hundred years of age! Because it takes at least one hundred years for one to produce an “arm.” Though I was riding in a car with several other ladies, I managed to grab a few pictures of these intriguing plants.

I must say that I had the opportunity to buy a new camera before going on this trip, but I chose not to because I didn’t want “taking photos” to get in the way of my experiences in Sedona. Lesson learned! I took pictures anyway and they would have been so much better had I bought the iPhone 7 Plus that I’d wanted. Oh well! At least I wasn’t worried at all about dropping my old iPhone down a crevasse!

Hiking

For five days, I hiked, breathed in the amazing cool dry air of Sedona, touched many rocks along a variety of hiking paths, hung out with like-minded ladies for spectacular sunsets, dined in exceptional restaurants, and immersed my soul in a deep and expansive process! My heart seemed to grow larger and open more to the world with each passing day! My “sisters” for the retreat seemed to teach me something every day! While my feet were totally grounded, my head and heart would fly along with the puffiest of clouds in the sky… dancing in the heightened energies I was feeling and “knowing.”

Our journey took us to many of the major energy vortices ~ including Airport Mesa, Boynton Canyon, Buddha Beach, Cathedral Rock, and Dry Creek Canyon. Sedona impressed us all! I hiked up five mountains in five days and the energy was running high to be sure! I only left thinking of perhaps two things I had not done while in Sedona, but I had been part of so much, and had written much more in my journal, and talked with so many of the gals in our group–yes, even on deep subjects–that in no way was I feeling disappointed.

Airport Mesa

The dirt was so red here at Airport Mesa–it took my breath away! I couldn’t quit looking at it, even as I climbed. And this was my first climb, just hours after getting off the plane in Phoenix Arizona!

look-at-the-red-dirt

Our group spread out and some of us sang, played shakers, rattles, and drums. Many of us went our own way for awhile, then regathered up the mountain a little way, for Divine Blessing, and more singing, etc.

The view with the rain in the distance was exhilarating! Sedona even gifted us with our own Sacred Sedona Sisters rainbow!

our-rainbowim-hiking

a-magical-energy-tree

Sunset seemed to be the very best time that we could have climbed and sat in the glory of Airport Mesa! I would come to learn that every time I took my eyes of the red rocks even for a moment, as the sun would deepen in the sky, the colors of the rocks would mystically change, blazing ever so many new hues and shades!

red-orbs-native-american-spirits-here

Note the red orbs in the picture of the sunset that I happened to grab. Ancestors, ancestors, we are calling! Come, come, come.

The artist in me was perplexed in trying to capture just a small portion of this bewitching magnificence with my mere old silly iPhone! Haha!

As is usual for me, my thoughts turn to our Divine Source… and I thought, this must be akin to what God thinks of us… we’re each so immense and powerful, yet we can only see such a fraction of our extraordinary essence! Ohh, we are but fractals of the light of the Divine–yes?

life-always-finds-a-way

During one of my moments of just “be-ing” I looked down and noticed this small plant growing inexplicably, on its own, in between rocks! I thought, “life always finds a way” and truly, life does! When at times we wonder where a plant like this little guy would get its nourishment from, ah, there it is anyway, just being it, doing it, amazing us. Isn’t it fascinating? How that happens I mean?

This little plant has no seemingly apparent means of life support, yet, here it is anyway! Brilliant! And we get to live on a planet like this! So nurturing, even in the subtle ways when we cannot or choose not to see all the invisible means of support that it gives to us all! Ahh!

Also, as a writer, I see that the word “plant” is contained within the word “planet”… hehe, my mind is dazzled by the way our English words are put together!

Boynton Canyon

climbing-boynton-b

This was the site where I climbed the highest. However, once I got almost to the top, I suddenly realized, whoa there Betsy! What the heck did I think I was doing?!? Uncannily (and Blessed Be) I made it to the top and was totally energized!!

I met several people on my hike also. One man in particular told me to repeat the words to myself, “feet like glue” and that actually did help me, especially on my way back down!

Another gentlemen told me exactly where to walk near the twisted Energy tree, and point my dowsing rods near it for a fascinating experience.

sheila-dowsing-by-energy-tree

I could see the energy whirl one of my dowsing rods a full 360 degrees spin! Over and over again! It was mesmerizing!!

The tree is turned and twisted, supposedly, due to the amount of energy it receives.

I was having so much fun up here! I was certainly “in the moment” experiencing Energy as never before! At one point I remember noticing that I hadn’t had any vertigo during this climb, and I must say that I was shocked to realize that! As I had climbed Airport Mesa the day before, I had gotten near the top and suddenly realized there would be nothing stopping me if I fell, so I sat down and just “enjoyed”–and that’s when I had taken a lot of pictures, sang, and shook the rattle.

It seems to me that when I am caught up in a moment of JOY that I do not even consider any of my so-called “limitations.” Is that true for everyone? If so, then, I say, let’s stay caught up in our joyful moments, yes?

Know this: Joy is our natural state of be-ing.

We’re so drawn to be in JOY!

Joy is why we love hanging out with our children! They show us that in nearly every moment–well, after their immediate needs are taken care of, like food, liquid, warmth, and so on.

the-energy-tree-and-the-hanging-rock-that-i-was-mesmerized-by

Here’s another picture (from my friend Carolyn) of what I guess is the “secret” rock atop Boynton Canyon. It so mesmerized me because of the way it just sort of hung there!

Speaking of being mesmerized, every where you look while hiking the Sedona red rock trails, you can find a way to be in awe of nature! From the way the light dances on the rocks, to where and how the plants grow, to the variety of foliage, and how the air is just filled with a certain sense of peace!

Even when it drizzled the rain there, I noticed the air still felt dry. An odd dichotomy!

Zen Den space

Our little group of fifteen soul sisters went to this place, sort of a little community meeting space primarily made up of one large room, where groups could rent it and meet for yoga, meditation, or the like. We had two sessions here during our five day retreat. Here is a link to Zen Den.

Here, we had time for meditation, conversation, and a guided regression session. While technically speaking, our guided “regression” session is called a past life regression, some may choose to see it as exactly that (if they believe in reincarnation), while others may choose to see it as a reconnection with one’s soul, DNA, ancestral visitation, or in many other ways.

Zen house.JPG

Since, as you know by now about me, if you’ve been reading my posts, I do not limit the Divine (God, Universal intelligence, life force, Energy, All that Is) at all, so I get into, or love to play with and in, anything that brings me into conscious unity with God. We are to live life fully and abundantly and this is just one of the myriad of ways of living that I find appealing and resonating with my spirit and soul.

We had two regressions with Patricia here, inside, and though I will write in another post about my experiences during the sessions, I will tell you, and show you, what I saw when I stepped outside of the Zen house… it knocked my socks off! Hello wizard Merlin!

wizard-in-the-rocks

Just in case you couldn’t see him, here’s a zoom of a close-up!

wizard-in-the-rocks-closeup

And the following is a drawing (by my husband) of a wizard that I thought was appropriate.

wizard drawing by Richard

At lunch, one of my Sedona siStars checked her phone and something quickly flashed (probably an ad), which showed an image of a man dressed as Merlin, or had the name Merlin on it, and before I could ask her to stop (because I hadn’t been snooping, but had only noticed the image for a moment), she had flipped to the next thing. I did ask, and explained how the image caught my eye, but when she tried to go back and see whatever I’d seen, it was gone. Poof!

After I had returned to the hotel that evening and for some days after leaving Sedona, I searched online until I found the man, and it was Terence McKenna:

Zen

This was the tranquil Zen garden labyrinth (I am in the middle) where some of us chose to get our walking meditation in… ahhh!

Amitabha Stupa and Peace Park

Look at the  top of the smaller of the two Stupas. Oh, it looked just like an angel on top of a Christmas tree!

stupa1

It was certainly true for me that once I stepped foot on the land at Amitabha Stupa and Peace Park, my mind quieted down quickly, and a holy reverence lit upon me, much as it had years ago when I would enter a church building. But out in nature, this was the very essence of “church” that I have always known exists, and I’ve hinted about in previous posts (that we do not need buildings in which to “hold church”, but that we have our own body temple for this purpose–no other “things” are required in order to pray, meditate, worship, etc.) and I had quite a knowing of this truth, being in this park.

my-deep-abiding-love-and-sadness-for-all-the-worlds-religionsThe deeply moving “religious” zone I was in, fell on me quite profoundly as I walked three times around each of the Stupas (as it is suggested you do when you visit–there are informative kiosks that explain it). I am also sure that I will continue to write about my thoughts on this in future blog articles. I was very, very moved–and quite unexpectedly too!

To put my experience at the Stupa in the deepest yet most brief way, I was saddened to my soul for anyone who could not find beauty here, could not find the sacred reverence, the divine knowing of this place and what it means to have it here, in America.

stupa-sizeI watched people of many different colors and nationalities come and walk around the Stupa in silent reverence, and I was oh so moved! You can see how large the main Stupa is in comparison to this gentlemen as he reverently walks around it.

One of my new sisters on the trip prostrated herself before the Buddha and I could feel the tears well up in my eyes as I witnessed her devotion. And though this is not my religious practice, I was moved to tears!

It seemed as though I was feeling the tears of many saints and guardians who yearn for us all to understand the transcendent importance of such a place as this!

I felt God’s Spirit move through my body! I felt an immense and abiding sense of wanting to protect this place… so much so that it startled me! I resonated with the reason all military have fought to defend our nation for–the right for our freedoms, especially for our freedom to practice different religions. (It’s probably also why free speech is so important to me too!) We just cannot take any of our freedoms for granted!

Amen. Namaste. OM

Between seeing a lady do Tai Chi upon our arrival here, being blessed and attuned in the water, as well as all wandering around all of the magical cairns people had placed here, Buddha Beach was quite the treasure!

buddha-beach

I wrote a bit in my journal here, sang to the trees, and shook a rattle.

We met a lot of people on our walk here… some of us even got our picture taken with a couple who were traveling the world carrying a penguin statue! (I’m not kidding!)

Dry Canyon

We had our last regression session in the middle of a mandala that we all built, which included our own artwork and words for peace, love, joy, bliss, etc. that we left here:

sheila-in-middle-at-mandala

sheila-with-scarf-and-bindi

And I was gifted a bindi for my third eye, which I embraced wearing. When the sun was overhead, I pulled my scarf over my head as a wrap, not even thinking about “why”– but oh, I was stunned when I saw the photos later! I love Indian food, music, and dance, and now I think  I know why!

Also, going back to my childhood for a moment, my mom would always take a picture of me standing on a big rock at Blackwater Falls WV, so I had to jump up for this fun tribute to her!

Sunset on the Cathedral Rock trail

i-can-see-for-miles-and-miles

You can get a little idea of how rocky of a path we had to climb on the Cathedral Rock trail.

Our group of Sacred Sedona Sisters had a time of song and blessing on this flat area of the trail. I still hear our voices singing the enchanting songs! It was one of the most special times of our journey for me.

my-view-now-feet-over-edgeAs I sat,  probably mid way up the Cathedral Rock trail, I hung my feet over, appreciating the hiking shoes my dad had given me (they still had a bit of West Virginia dirt on the soles too) but now, they had this noble red dirt embedded in them as well. Ohh!! I love these red rocks! If I could live the rest of my life here, I cannot imagine getting tired of this dirt, these rocks, and the majestic glorious vistas!

I am dreaming of a day when I can bring our whole family here, especially my amazing granddaughter, Jennifer. Oh, what bliss that would be!

But, I can hold them dear in my heart as I sit here and look at the world. Because it sure feels as though I am on top of the world!

Saying so long…

Not long after I woke up on the last day in Sedona, I put my moccasin booties and went for a hike up the mountain behind the resort one last time. I wanted to feel the rocks under my feet, pebbles and all, similar to how my grandparents, great grandparents, and other ancestors from my Native American Indian lineage would have walked. Living my grandmother’s quote, “before judging others, walk a mile in the other person’s moccasins.”

Even the view from our resort was breathtaking, all the way around! Had we done nothing else but stay at the resort, I would have had a magnetic time!

I learned several new natural healing modalities that I continue to practice daily. Plus I met my protector guide, Screamin’ Eagle (thanks to my wonderful roommate, Kim — who I will introduce you to in my next blog post).

Each of the attendees, or rather “Sacred Sedona Sisters”, received an “Attunement to Divine Frequency”, sacred blessings, and regression sessions (read more about that here: Releasing “past” hurts or traumas to heal current ills in the body). We enjoyed, relaxed, and had fun, but oh YES, we can allow our body to heal NOW by releasing stored cellular memories from the past!

I want to soulfully thank Alania Starhawk and Patricia McGivern for brainstorming, planning, and facilitating this aWEsOMe and transformative, yes, life-giving retreat!

We absolutely packed a lot into 5 days!

For me, I loved every moment, every trail, mountain, and vista! We hiked, climbed, shopped, ate, sang, took photos, had deep conversations, sat in a hot tub, and around a fire pit. I’ve never done so much on a vacation before!

Stay tuned. I am sure to be updating this page (especially with the other blog links when I get those written)!

Thank you Sedona!
