Massive 1,000+ year old Maya complex discovered in the Georgia Mountains

We have arrived! Our first week living in Ocala, Florida

Here’s a run down from our move to Ocala, Florida. We are loving Ocala already! If you would rather listen instead of read, play the audio:

First impressions:

  • Furniture – We lived in an RV for 11 years and then a furnished condo for 2 years, so while we are minimalists, we still needed a few pieces of furniture. We got a great deal on two twin mattresses at the first store we visited ($250 each!) and the next day we found a huge furniture consignment store and made offers on a computer desk and leather Serta office chair, and Broyhill console for our TV. Yes, we had bought a new TV 2 years ago for the condo since the one that was there didn’t work right or we couldn’t figure it out. We also ordered two barstools from Amazon for the bar/raised kitchen counter.
  • Doctor – We’re very happy with Richard’s new doc and I’ll be seeing her as well, whenever needed. She took Richard’s blood and sent it off to a lab for results to come in a few days. We are self pay currently and she only charged us $79 and gave us all the lab fees for the blood tests up front too so there were no surprises at the check out counter. I’ll be writing another article about her so watch for that if you want to know.
  • Grocery store – We can walk to a Publix and that was the prime reason we chose this apartment community (along with their amenities, beautiful grounds with large oaks, unit floorpan, and availability of a ground floor unit). Publix is employee-owned.
  • Restaurants – We love the Italian restaurant and diner next to the Publix! Great customer service and selection of food. The food has been hot and delicious. Plus we have a Subway in the plaza too and the Publix deli. Of course I cook–(but not this week as I’m on vacation).
  • Banking – I started a new account for us at one of the two credit unions here in the plaza. They are not planning on joining the Central Banking Digital Currency (CBDC) thing and are owned by members headquartered in Lakeland, FL with branches all over Florida. They even offer a high-rate Certificate of Deposit that is now paying over 5% interest! We were treated very well and got our new account setup within an hour (though we did have to walk home and back to get our lease to prove our new address). Two banks failed in California recently so I really wanted to move our funds to a safer place and we’ve always loved credit unions.
  • Apartment Community – The community had a food truck come in yesterday and that was such a treat! We’ve never had that before! We didn’t have anyone help us unload our stuff on Monday or furniture on Tuesday but I asked and that’s what was important. Mostly as you know, I’m very self sufficient. I noticed several people wearing ear buds so that’s why a few didn’t help because they didn’t even hear me ask. I also asked the guys at the furniture store but no one had time or knew anyone to refer us to call.
  • Neighbors – Our upstairs neighbors were moving in on the same day too so they couldn’t help. And they haven’t learned how to walk in an upstairs apartment. I will wait to see if this improves or we adjust before I say anything about this though. Update 3/25/24: this never got better so we are moving. Yes, again. This has been untenable and apparently, due to the Federal Fair Housing Act, the apartment community cannot assign people to particular apartments based on age, working hours, or what not.
  • Parking – We don’t have a car and don’t plan to so we have no issues with that. Though our bedroom is in the front of the unit by the parking lot so our neighbor wakes me up at 5am every morning when he starts his Charger. Go figure. Ha!

Mind-Body

It seems man always has a problem describing or explaining quantum mechanics while Nature simply plays it out intrinsically, organically. We can move our fingers, and whole body, in a wave-like fashion and observe our own movements. We don’t need to know the speed of light or how it’s measured in order to do this. We don’t have to know or understand wave function collapse. Any child can strum their fingers on a desk (or in the air) simulating a wave by moving each finger up and down incrementally one after another, and indeed they always have. No knowledge of physics is needed.

I’ll write another article on my mental health observations regarding moving as I already feel layers of the onion peeling away. I noticed yesterday I am much calmer and clear about some things but yes, wherever we go we take ourselves with us! Ha!

U-Haul missteps

  • Incorrect store location sent to me via confirmation email
  • Incorrect store opening time sent to me in ALL communications right from the start as well as in confirmation messages
  • Improper coordination with third-party moving helpers via the U-Haul application and that you have to pay in advance to reserve that help but if they cancel or cannot fulfill their service, they have 3-7 days to return your money! If someone is short on funds they then cannot try to schedule an alternative moving helper company because they will also have to pay in advance for them (while still waiting on the first company to refund their money)!
  • I’ve sent a review to U-Haul but may also send screen captures of the communications to them at a later date (I’m not sure it’s worth my time/energy)
  • Thankfully, the U-Haul location for the truck drop-off went well and the lady there, Carla, was quite nice and welcomed us to our new home. Also our Lyft driver from there back to Publix was a retired state trooper from the Virgin Islands and super nice—we even discussed a potential tutoring job for me!
Broyhill cherry wood console – aka “my coffin” as it weighs as much as me and thought it might be the death of us getting it the apartment! I trust the Broyhill name as my parents always had Broyhill furniture since I was a child. Paying homage to them and it will remind me of them everyday!
$40 wood bookcase from Goodwill. I am still arranging things so it will be full of books soon. Hubby has to find new place for his CD player.
Hubby’s new used computer desk and leather office chair from the best consignment store in town.
Got 2 of these. Yes, we are leaving them on the floor.

All in all, we’re sore from doing all of the unloading and walking, but we’re very happy to be here and feel a complete sense of accomplishment getting so much done on our own. Next time, if we ever move again, we’ll hire movers. Ha!

Moving to Ocala, Florida – Final check list

Here’s my final check list of To Do’s and how ready and excited we are to move to Ocala, Florida. Even if we don’t like Ocala, I do not plan on ever moving back to south Florida–too hot and too much hurricane stress. Yes, hurricanes can impact all of Florida, as well as Georgia, North and South Carolina and all along the eastern seaboard. Plus, Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Texas. If you would rather listen instead of read, play the audio:

As we are in the final days before moving, I have the final check list of To Do’s to complete:

  • DONE – Submit change of address to the local USPS
  • DONE – Request our electricity be changed from my name back to condo owners
  • DONE – Disconnected internet service (cable) on 8/21
  • DONE – Return the community clubhouse/pool key (on the Friday before we leave)
  • DONE – Return condo keys back to Realtor managing the unit (following her instructions)

Upon leaving the unit:

  • DONE – Put chairs back where they were when we moved in
  • DONE – Wipe down all counters and tables
  • DONE – Sweep all floors
  • DONE – Take out the trash
  • DONE – Check the laundry pair to ensure I have removed all clothing
  • DONE – Turn out all lights/and ensure fans are off
  • DONE – Turn up AC thermostat to 88
  • DONE – Unplug microwave
  • Took video of the place clean
  • DONE – Have to drop internet equipment at UPS store in Bradenton before leaving town

We have talked about any last things we want to do while in Bradenton, such as places we want to go eat or shop, friends (any who care would need to come and see us), and we think we are good with what all we have done and seen.

There’s our favorite, Poppi’s Restaurant (they have the best fried fish and grits), Cremesh bakery/cafe we only recently discovered, and the European Deli “A Taste of Europe” in Sarasota. I am hopeful we will find good alternatives of these in Ocala.

At some point one simply has to be okay with the “been there, done that” stuff and call it a day. We have offered friends many opportunities to see us and if they couldn’t make time, it is what it is. I will not harbor resentment, but it shows us where we rate in their lives. It’s okay.

I think these are similar to the thoughts one has before dying. a song comes to mind: We may never pass this way again. Seals & Crofts.

Final walk through

  • Ensure I didn’t forget anything
  • Take video of how we’re leaving the unit

Special thanks to Robyn Openshaw who told me of another medical doctor (who is a Health Freedom advocate) we could see in Ocala.

And thanks to my friend, Karen P. for driving from St. Pete to visit us, enjoy a meal out, and for bringing a key lime pie. As well as gifting me with the fresh avocado and mango (I ate today!) and for our walk to my special grandmother Banyan tree:

Moving to Ocala, Florida – Update and Prep work

Here’s an update that includes my prep work (list of To Do’s) regarding our impending move to Ocala, Florida. If you would rather listen instead of read, play the audio:

As mentioned previously, we chose an apartment community 3 to 5 miles from downtown Ocala, so we could live within walking distance to grocery stores and eateries. We were prepared to apply to both our top choices of communities (just in case for any reason one didn’t accept us). Thankfully, we were accepted by the one with the amenities we liked best and in the best location to meet our needs (namely, within the shortest walking distance to the stores, doctors office, banking, and eateries we liked). The application, check in, monthly rental payments and such are all done online too, which I love, because we have had many issues at our current place of rent checks (yes, even paying via Bill Pay) get lost, not cashed, etc. and nothing irritates me more than paying before or on the due date and the people not getting the money for 10 days to two weeks through no fault of ours!

I have our electricity, water/sewer, and internet services all set to turn on for our new apartment soon too (we move 8/21/23), so we will see how it goes. I still need to put in our change of address notice with the post office, but I think by this point in time, I have everything done that needs to be done. I have the U-haul truck and two helpers hired. I will drive the moving truck myself with hubby by my side. I think once we get everything packed into the truck we’ll see how much more we want to buy at the new place in order to keep future moves also to a minimum.

We have packed about 85% of everything and are waiting until the last 3-4 days before moving day to complete the rest. I think of it like packing for a trip or vacation but in reverse. Everything I use daily, will go into my suitcase the day before we get the rental moving truck. I’ll take an Uber or Lyft to the U-haul dealer.

I have also pre-cleaned the current place a lot and will do more of that the last few days so that once all our boxes and totes are out, it won’t take me long to do one final wipe-down and broom or vacuum and call it done. Mind you, this place wasn’t all that clean when we moved in so I will leave it at least the same or better. It’s furnished (I had never rented a furnished apartment before in my life) but they had never moved and cleaned under anything, which has always bothered me. I didn’t know initially until I dropped something at one point and it rolled under the bed. UGH

The owner never steam cleaned the couch or such either so I always had a sheet covering it (they disagreed but I felt there were blood stains on the couch cushions too, so that’s another reason I covered it). Anyway, I know one person’s idea of “clean” can vary drastically from another’s, and so again, it is what it is. I’ll take a video when we leave just to ensure I can prove how we left it should any questions arise.

Summary

  • I can let go (deep breath here) of all low vibes I have had about living in Bradenton (I never wanted to live here but it was cheap rent and available at least for one year) back when we had looked for a place in St. Pete/Gulfport and could not find anything reasonable or available. Some places were only available during part of a year, and lots of small houses, duplexes, or such went on AirBnB, so there’s that.
  • I’m glad our new place won’t have GPS issues (it’s been hard for people to find our current place for deliveries), So many times, drivers have had to text me to find us at this place in town, which I certainly never expected. I guess the city of Bradenton never thought their addressing scheme out very well back in the day. (After having delivery issues when we lived in the woods “off grid” before moving here, that had been one issues I’d never expected to have, living in a city.
  • I’m glad our new place won’t have mail issues (some of our mail went to another near identical address here and thankfully, those folks were nice and brought our mail over to us when it would get delivered to them). Our new apartment community has a mail center where packages are received. And the address is super easy to find for visitors via GPS.
  • I’m looking forward to taking a bath at the new apartment too! The current old iron tub has a rusted out spot and hole in it so I couldn’t take baths here, only showers.
  • I can release negative feelings I have had about no one visiting us in two years (of “friends” (who live here) who we used to know and see a lot but apparently quit caring about us after we moved away (for work back in 2017). So be it.
  • I can look onwards and upwards. Two years here has been more than enough and that last hurricane (Ian), pushed me over the edge as far as dealing with power outages was concerned. Yes, I realize that’s a first world country problem but we did our 17 months living off grid during 2020-2021 and we are sooo over that!
  • I’m looking forward to using new appliances too at the new apartment–everything here is old, hence the cheap rent I suppose.
  • I can focus my energy on making new acquaintances and friends and seeing new sights. As well, we will be two hours closer to northern destinations I want to visit soon! Two hours closer to getting out of the state should we need to.
  • I love the hills and lay of the land in Ocala too.
  • I love the arts community in Ocala also.
  • I love horses. I grew up with horses and worked with an equestrian photographer years ago too, so I am hoping I can do something there related with the equine industry. I am asking the Universe to surprise me!
  • I am also hoping it is more quiet there, though I am sure the trade off will be between the all ages community we will be in versus the 55-plus community we are in now, and also we will have someone living above us. But there’s going to be major road work going on where we are at currently and I didn’t want to be here when it ramps up with milling and paving happening for weeks/months! This condo has poor windows and doors and we can hear everything outside and are close to a four-lane street that will get widened.

I feel Ocala will present us with a lot of adventure, with more natural springs to explore, horses to view or ride (I am looking forward to visiting the World Equestrian Center (WEC), and see how folks of all ages accept our original music in Ocala (as Richard already asked if he could play guitar at the apartment community pool and was told he could), so we shall envision success there!

Apartment hunting in Ocala, Florida – Part 2

Here’s how everything shook out while we searched for an apartment home in a more northern inland part of Florida, including a stop in Spring Hill, and three night stay at a lovely historic BnB (within walking distance to downtown) in Ocala, Florida. If you would rather listen instead of read, play the audio:

On our way to Ocala, we toured Ariel Springs in Spring Hill. I had hoped it was closer than it looked on the map to a friend Beverly’s crystal shop (Universal Gifts).

At Ariel Springs, we loved Robin, the leasing agent who took us on the tour as she was super friendly and helpful. But as most people know, many more things go into making such decisions than how well one likes the person in this role. Unfortunately, there were more than a couple of reasons why I have to rule out this community from our list of potentials.

First, the road Ariel Springs is on (Barclay to Spring Hill Drive) runs about 12-15 miles between I-75 and State Route 19 in Spring Hill. From looking at the map I had thought we might be able to walk to shops and restaurants on either end of Barclay, but it’s too far for us. With nothing much we could walk to, either for groceries or dining. That’s pretty much the show stopper for us. It’s very car dependent, and the community tends to frown on golf carts too (which was something I had considered doing). The single story villa is nice but it would be a middle unit in a long building. Robin was the first to let me know that most apartments require a 60 day notice to them when residents are going to move out, so they won’t know what they have available until mid-June for our mid-August move.

In Ocala, we checked out any apartments that showed up on my maps app and worked our way out from our lovely AirBnB in a 5 mile radius—keeping in mind Uber or Lyft rides will cost more the farther the distance we are from wherever we want to go downtown.

We stayed in the Paris room of the AirBnB and I took lots of pictures because it really gave me the feeling of being in Paris (though I’ve never been, and my daughter has dreamed of going). I had plenty of time in the house to admire all of the furnishings our super host has saved for many years and the items he continues to collect and add, as well as “feel the Energy” of a beautiful throw quilt that was on the living room couch. Here’s a slideshow of items that fascinated me:

Since most all the apartments that we saw near downtown didn’t make us warm and fuzzy, we ended up preferring the communities 3 to 5 miles out. Each were within walking distance to grocery stores and eateries. This we can do! And the monthly rents, while more than we currently pay, are reasonable for all we will get. Also, the amenities at these communities are fantastic!

Latigo 27 (closest to downtown of the five), has a Wal-Mart right outside the entrance. I’m not a Wal-Mart shopper, but I could do it and save us about $200 a month in rent over the others we liked. This was Richard’s favorite anyway, so that’s why I am putting in position #2 on our list of potentials.

Grand Reserve Apartments was the most expensive and while the map shows a Wal-Mart Supercenter near it, the only stores I saw were a bit of a hike, like the Aldi’s store. It had the largest gym and best kitchen in the apartment, but I put it last on our favorites list because of the location and price point.

Tuscany Place and The Highlands at Heathbrook are owned by the Collier Companies and very similar in look, style, and price, but though Tuscany was higher on a hill than The Highlands and pretty, I thought it may be harder to walk, plus there wasn’t any dining or shopping close. The Highlands at Heathbrook is a very short walk to Publix (with a pharmacy) and a large diner! Score! This became my favorite when we toured the model unit and found each building only has 8 units, 4 up and 4 down. Each unit has a corner of the building! No middle units. And that’s what I didn’t like about Ariel Springs—we would have been in a middle unit.

Summary

  • #1 The Highlands at Heathbrook
  • #2 Latigo 27
  • #3 Grand Reserve Apartments

Before we left the BnB house, we checked out the bulletin board and I saw this:

I simply feel Ocala will hold a lot of mystery in store for us, and grand success too!

Apartment hunting in Ocala, Florida

Since the last hurricane (last year—when our power was out for 8 days!), I have been telling myself and talking about moving to a more northern inland part of Florida and eyeing the Ocala area. It seems I am not alone! Ocala is growing by leaps and bounds! If you would rather listen instead of read, play the audio:

Months ago I had put together a short list of communities to visit, not only in Ocala, but in areas in between Dunedin and Brooksville too, because we have liked things about both of those areas. But the hills of Ocala still pulled me thus, I wanted to at least honor my feelings and come stay for three or four days and give it time and space to see what we might like.

My darling husband found us an Airbnb (which used to be a Bed and Breakfast—no breakfast anymore), and it has been lovely! Even a problem with its fire alarm worked to our advantage yesterday. I’ll explain later.

Here’s what I have found so far, and how I kept track because somehow I didn’t have a pen to mark my paper list, I know, ha, a writer without a pen! LOL

Nope.

We want amenities and these kinds of places don’t have any, or were not within walking distance to food or grocery stores, which since we no longer have a car (we rented one for this trip), we know is something we want.

Yay!! Possibilities!

I used my maps app to locate apartment communities and drive by, or tour, open units. This worked out fairly well as the list stayed in my app so after we left one place I could quickly move on the next closest one. The blue dot is our Airbnb and starting point and we came back to rest midday. We aren’t used to being out running around all day anymore and found ourselves getting tired!

Most won’t know what units will be available yet, as we aren’t moving until August, but at least we have a feel for what we like, what prices we are going to be paying, etc. And that’s all I anticipated from this trip.

I’d love to rent something near downtown but I haven’t seen anything like that yet. Nor do we want to climb stairs.

This is the beautiful Airbnb we are staying at, and learning/confirming stairs won’t work for us.

Yesterday was our first full day of looking and we thought we would come back to our Airbnb room and take a nap or at least relax. Nooooo! The fire alarm started blaring and we had to run out of the house! We also weren’t sure if there was a fire, so, uh, yeah. But our superhost had warned us and asked if his inspector could come into our room at 10am—I had said yes, because we were out galavanting. By 1:30pm I thought it would be safe to return. Nope!

We sat on the huge front porch for half an hour and it never stopped! I called our superhost and no answer, nor did he call me right back which I thought odd, but figured he might already be on the phone with the monitor company, fire department, or what not. Found out later he was on a flight back here from Boston!

Anyway, we took the alarm as a sign and went back out apartment shopping. I found two I really liked! We came back again at 3:30, after our superhost called us back, and all was well. We got to meet our hosts son-in-law also, who lives a few blocks away and was here to ensure the alarm was silenced. He was extremely nice and when I explained why we were in town and what we were looking for, he offered to help. He fortuitously works with attorneys for apartment community builders! Ha! Fantastic!

To be continued…

Integrating the Spirals to ease suffering

My online Zoom video course, Integrating the Spirals is helpful now more than ever because I know people are suffering. (Let me know if you’re interested in the Integrating the Spirals course.)

As an empath I want to help ease suffering and raise hope. I want to uplift others and raise our collective vibrations and consciousness. I teach breath work and meditation so we appreciate the value of Detachment. We till our inner soil with our breath and that offers us peace and calm. Meditation is an easy way to Connect us with spirit, higher selves, Omniscience God, and receive personal guidance.

When we have no words: Sit with it

Listen, sometimes we don’t have the words. The words just aren’t IN us to express our innermost feelings. And as I drive to the post office to mail my lovely and dear three young granddaughters their copy of Blue Eyes: Ethereal Messages of Connection, I’ve signed and written a little sentence or mantra in each one (Thank Omniscience God) to always find joy. (I’m sooo thankful for getting this book done and for my family).

I’m crying. And I am in a stupor. I’m stupefied. Why am I crying? And then I sit here for a moment. And I realize I can’t put this sadness into words except to say, sit with it. Sit with it, Sheila, and see what you can milk out of this experience. Oh, I wish I could be there! I would love to see your faces when you open the package and Mommy sits you down and says, “Now girls–because the twins are five–these are big books; these are books for you to keep for your whole life from your Grammy; these are books you will probably cherish and adore.” (Speaking about myself in third person) Even though Grammy meditates as a Buddhist now and doesn’t want you to attach or cherish anything–of course she’s attached to you, cherishes and adores you!

We live so far away (emotions). And I ask myself, what’s stopping us from being together? In many cases, it’s because right now it is winter. It’s cold (up north) and sometimes the weather is too bad to travel. So the weather limits humans. Yes, often the weather is limiting. (sniff! emotions!) And that’s okay.

Grammy has always wanted to live in Florida! Grammy prefers the sunshine, the palm trees, and the salty air of Florida. And the older Grammy gets (speaking in the third person), the more I miss a little bit of hill country. So that’s why I’m looking forward to moving to the Ocala area somewhere in the north-central area of Florida where there are hills, but I don’t miss the mountains, not as your mommy (my daughter) did for many years. Your mommy didn’t really like Florida because she missed the mountains, but now you’re in New England. There are mountains and lots of beautiful fall foliage to look at in wonderment. And that’s a beautiful thing.

We hope that unseen viruses and silly government policies and regulations don’t prohibit our visiting. We hope our health stays good too, so we can drive to visit this spring. We love you so much, your grandpa (grampy) and me, all three of you girls! Oh, and mommy to my beautiful daughter. So yes, in the book, beautiful daughter is chapter four. And I do talk about and mention my lovely granddaughters.

So I dedicate this blog post and all my thoughts about missing you yet, being close to you in spirit. I dedicate these thoughts to these words that say eventually did come. I dedicate these words to the loves of my heart. Thank you. Thank you ALL. Much love and many blessings. May these words bring you peace, ease, and comfort, and may you find joy in everything. In ALL ways, always.

Sun Goddesses and Sun Circles . . . the Trans-Atlantic Connection

Readers of my most recent book, Lessons Learned, may recall an extraordinary event that occurred four days after my graduation from Georgia Tech. On …

Sun Goddesses and Sun Circles . . . the Trans-Atlantic Connection

Lucid dreaming: Time Travel

Time travel.

In this situation, I was at a gas station and back in the day when everything was new. I was sitting beside a new teal colored refrigerator and everything all around me was new and clean. I was with my parents and children (when my kids were young). I don’t know if had been traveling somewhere and stopped in there or someone we knew owned the filling station. And there was a larger building next to it that we seemed to get lost in.

At one point, I’d walked into a room where the guys from Recycled Percussion were talking. I joined in the conversation.

At one point, Justin walked out into the hallway and I joined him. He was standing a few feet from me, on his phone or something. When I approached he seemed guarded. He prefers his privacy. I walked towards him and asked him a question. He was friendly and warmed up to me a bit.

I knew my kids would have loved to meet him, so I went back to the gas station to find them and bring them over to meet him and the rest of the guys in the band.

Telling Time

When I got back to the gas station, there was a message for me to meet mom and dad and my children at their van.

But once outside, there weren’t many vehicles around. At the corner of the lot, I found a van, though it didn’t look like mom and dad’s.

I peered into an old van. I’d called out a name. There was no one around. No one answered my call.

When I went back to the kitchen of the gas station, everything was old, rusty, and there was moss growing all over everything. When I found someone, he knew nothing of my family and had not seen anyone.

I made my way back into the kitchen of the gas station, by the rear door, so this guy couldn’t stop me. I laid down by the old fridge and drifted to sleep. And then everything was new again in my consciousness. I could find my parents and children! But then, my alarm rang and woke me up. Ugh.

First thoughts upon awakening:

Maybe this happened in another lifetime?

Maybe this is why I’ve always been drawn to the Shell stations? (I met my first husband at a Shell gas station, and I dated someone who managed a Shell station at one point too. My first husband and I used to work at a small truck stop and I pumped fuel and was the cashier as one of my first jobs when we moved to Florida in the mid 1980’s.) Synchronicities abound.

Maybe this is why I loved The Twilight Zone when I was a kid. And Outer Limits. And stories by Edgar Allan Poe. And shows with Vincent Price. And built haunted houses. And dressed up as a witch. And dug in caves of sand.

I will begin a new habit. I’ll pick up my phone as soon as I awaken from the next lucid dream and turn on my Otter app. See ya again soon!

Angel Toilet Tanker Truck

Oh, there we go.

Okay, good morning.

I can talk while I’m driving on my way to meet Gloria Grace Rand’s and Dr. Bruce Lipton or uncle Bruce as we call him in Bruce’s online community. And Gregg Braden and Dr. Shamini Jain in West Palm Beach, Florida. (I was traveling to attend the Consciousness and Human Evolution – TCCHE conference that day.)

Alright, so the interesting thing that’s already happened on this little journey… I’ve been in the car now about an hour actually a little more than an hour, and when I left Bradenton there was absolutely no traffic on Manatee Avenue and I don’t think I’ve ever seen, is that by leaving at 5:09am in the morning on a Saturday, there was absolutely no traffic. I saw two other cars that were even out and awake, they were not going in the same direction as me.

Then when I got out side of town just a wee bit heading toward Myakka and Arcadia (on route 70 out of Bradenton), I had the extreme pleasure to start experiencing a little bit of rain. And I thought, “Oh no, don’t tell me it’s going to rain all the way there” but because my “soulie sis” friend, Jacqueline, had sent me an Abraham-Hicks YouTube (and I didn’t have time to listen to it, the day she sent it), I emailed the link to myself and started that (playing in the car) when I left the condo.

I was listening to Esther Hicks channel, Abraham. I’ve been listening to this and it’s a compilation–a one hour Abraham-Hicks link and I’ll link it here: https://youtube.com/watch?v=e7OAUqJWH0A&feature=share

I’m listening to this and the rain starts. I thought, “Oh no, I’m not having that thought of this rain.” And “I’m gonna have to drive all the way in this rain because I know Florida and I know Florida weather and it can change in 15 minutes or five minutes even.” So, I just told myself, “I’m not going to have this thought.”

I (noticed) that I was behind a big truck. And there was another big truck beside of me on this four lane highway. I realized that I really didn’t want to be beside this truck. So, I got around one of them and I was behind one. And I thought I don’t want to follow this truck. But then the rain started coming down harder. And I saw, we were still X.

When I had initially recognized that this was going on with the trucks on the road, I thought, “Well I bet we’re the only people on the road at this time, right? Because they gotta get to wherever they’re going a job site or something early.”

I decided that with my windshield wipers not so great that I’m going to stay behind this truck. And Esther continues to talk; I continue to listen. I started appreciating that I’m behind this truck.

Now at this same time, another thought that comes into mind from the movie Die Hard. In the second Die Hard movie when they’re landing the plane. Holly was on the airplane. When they were landing the plane, Bruce Willis goes out to the airfield–he’s on the tarmac–he started a fire from the bad guy’s plane. which lights up the runway with fire. And so yeah, it was one of the other planes that had came in and it just kind of slid in without its landing gear. I think that’s what it was anyway, and then there was a fire. And he says, “Holly!! There’s your landing lights!” And so as soon as I remembered that flash from that film, I was like, “Wow, thank you!” And I and then I realized I was behind a toilet tanker truck. A fairly large truck and and he had LIGHTS. He had his regular tail lights but also a third brake light that was high up on the top of the tank.

Oh, there’s some deer; a little deer family. Thank you that you were far off the road and that you were in no way in any jeopardy of me hitting you. I appreciate that. And I just passed a sheriff deputy too. So thankfully, I wasn’t speeding like relentlessly but I’m out in the middle of nowhere. Yeah, I saw the deer and so I started slowing down. So, that’s a good little thing too. That just happened.

I’m following this truck and I’m realizing it’s a toilet tanker truck. Then I look at it and love how his lights are so bright. And so in all that rain, I could really see the truck. And I could see the road really well.

We have brand new tires on the car so I didn’t have any worry or fear or anything like that (about the rainy road). It was a matter of trying to see because it was dark at that time in the morning.

So, it’s completely dark. It’s raining. I’m noticing these lights and how bright they are. I’m thinking about Holly, here’s your landing lights, and instead of being in a hurry because I knew that I left early enough and I didn’t oversleep or anything like that. I’m just feeling really good this morning. I got up though, a little tired or sleepy or groggy, but now I thought this is so cool (to take this drive alone). And then I realized I’m behind the toilet tanker truck.

Now normally, and especially if you have any doubt at all about any kind of accident occurring, this is not the kind of truck you want to be following. Maybe. It’s up to you. Maybe it’s full, but I just had put a smile on my face and then I patted myself on the back of each shoulder with the opposite hand. You know, keep one hand on the steering wheel yet pat myself on the back and go. This is a really cool way to be thinking of these thoughts while I’m listening to the messages of Abraham.

So, I I was thinking, he’s my angel. He’s my angel toilet truck. Toilet tanker truck driver. So he’s my angel toilet tanker truck. And I’m just gonna follow that and so Abraham was talking about just when you get to this good feeling place on whatever subject you’re on, just milk it you know, just milk that good feeling.

So I was just like man, big smile on my face listening to Abraham. And like, how does it get any better than this? It’s raining. I’m behind an angel toilet tanker truck. And he is my landing lights. He’s guiding me as we go because the road turns from a four-lane a two-lane and it runs all the way across Florida. It’s route 70 from the Bradenton-Sarasota area, all the way to Palm Beach.

We use this route when we go to Jupiter as well. It’s really a beautiful drive. And I mean there’s not a whole lot to see but you see old Florida, you go through little towns of Myakka and Arcadia and Okeechobee. It’s mostly flat. It’s beautiful though. And then of course leaving that early and more, how dark it was. You you can probably imagine what else I was going to experience this morning, the sunrise! What I didn’t think about was the where the moon was in its position.

So, Mr. Angel toilet tanker truck, just about the time that the rain starting to ease up. I would have followed this angel toilet tanker truck for about 20 minutes or so 20 to 25 minutes. As the rain just starts to ease up he turned off. He peeled off and went to his destination. And I thanked him, energetically, with a wave of my hand kind of thing and said, “Thank you, Mr. Angel toilet tanker truck man or woman. Thank you for being my angel this morning and guiding me through that rain.” And then I didn’t have to worry about not being able to see a dark road in front of me that kind of thing. I didn’t have any worries because I knew he was my angel. I just felt that he or she were my angels. So then it stopped raining. I didn’t need him anymore. It stopped raining. I can’t not notice this. So I was just smiling and laughing to myself even more about that. And then within maybe five minutes I’m looking just scanning the road the sky and I see a little tiny this this this tiniest shimmer and there were a lot of clouds in the sky, as it was still so dark.

I mean, it wasn’t sunrise yet. It’s only getting to be sunrise now. I’m nearly an hour and a half into my drive. But the sun still hasn’t broken through but it’s that wee early hours kind of light in the sky. There’s a lot of clouds.

I look up and I see the smallest thin sliver of the moon! It was a pretty good size moon, not huge, not like a blood moon, autumn moon, or Harvest Moon, but it was just very pretty silver. And it was like telling me, here’s your silver lining. I mean it was the end. And I tell you I can almost see the outline. It was almost like a lunar eclipse. You know, the eclipse of the moon where you still kind of see the outline of the whole circle, but then you’re really only the light–just catching like the edge.

It was so pretty and it was this crescent moon. Now I’ve seen the crescent moons many times where they look like if you were to open the palm of your hand and stretch your palm out to catch water or something. That’s the bottom crescent. The crescent of the moon is on the bottom, but this was on the side. And it’s open. It’s open side would be on my right. So if I were to hold, you know try to draw you a picture here with words but yeah, so in fact if I find a picture of a similar photo, I will insert that image here.

Photo by Dom Le Roy on Pexels.com

I was just relishing, you know, listening to Abraham… I was relishing the rain stopping, and that I would tell the story about my having had an angel toilet tanker truck guide me through the rain. And then I realized that I hadn’t had a chance to wash the car (for weeks) so really, I’m now getting a car wash while I’m on this drive! When I get to where I’m going there won’t be bird droppings and stuff on the car. Because normally we park in covered parking at the condo but where I’ll be parking at the convention center the car may be outside. So, this way, there’ll be no bird droppings. A bird recently dropped something fresh on the car. It’s now been washed from this rain.

All Things Considered. Everything’s going my way. And that’s what Abe often says about everything. I am where I am and it’s okay and everything’s going my way. And why not me? You know why not me? Because we know Source Creator omniscience is the bigger part of me, and you!

So, why don’t we imagine like Source? No. So why can’t we imagine at least that everything is going our way?

Why not me, as it was, the main message Abraham had for me. And it reminds me of that song. If you know it, the old song The Judds, saying why not me. So don’t judge me.

Yes, well, thank you for reading. Thank you for listening. Much love and many blessings to all as I continue my journey.

Off Grid wet fun

While connecting with a fellow blogger, I accepted the challenge at http://travelwithintent.com/2020/09/06/wet/ of offering a themed post* about something “wet.”

At first, the only thing I could think of was to show you how we cool off while living “off grid.”

This is our little 3 feet deep off grid pool:

Our “off grid” pool.

And then, as I was preparing this to be a very short post, I remembered our pond! ❤️😉

Here’s our tilapia fish stocked pond:

Newgrange: Inside the chamber during the Winter Solstice

Newgrange: Inside the chamber during the Winter Solstice

I won a place for myself and a guest, (out of 30,861 lottery applications drawn by the local children from three different schools), to go inside the Newgrange monument burial chamber, at Bru Na Boinne, County Meath Ireland for the Winter Solstice sunrise on Dec. 18th, 2019.

And though the sun’s rays did not shine at sunrise the morning we were there, it was still a magnificent and surreal time to be in the chamber with a select few for the experience.

It was also another string of events that were tied to the date of the 18th, which held significant meaning for me. (I call those happenings, winks from my dad.)

A little background

We had first visited Knowth and Newgrange in July 2019, while on our Sacred Celtic Journey with Patricia McGivern—and I had felt palpable energy at Knowth, and been utterly fascinated by Newgrange. See my previous articles regarding that amazing trip:

Unlocking mysteries

Going inside the Newgrange chamber was such an incredible experience. This was my second time inside during the same year—and at such a special time of the year. I really felt as though I was walking into the mystic.

Unlocking mysteries at Newgrange during Winter Solstice.

The mysteries began to unfold for me, as soon as I got on the bus in the wee hours of December 18th, 2019.

I was so excited and thrilled to be back in Ireland, and to be one of the 10 Newgrange chamber Winter Solstice lottery winners who would go inside the chamber that morning!

Though our friends told me of the weather forecast (of clouds and rain), I didn’t want to believe it! I had sooo hoped to be mesmerized by the sunlight that was said could light the entire inner chamber at sunrise on the Winter Solstice!

As we drove from Dublin through the night, out to the sacred site (we had to arrive early in the morning predawn), there was a calm and peace overtaking me. I was there, along for the ride, and whatever the weather would do, was none of my business. Whatever happened, I trusted it would be for my conscious expansion.

Bundled up for the cold and wet weather outside the Newgrange chamber.

Our small group of 20 people (10 lottery winners plus a guest each), toured the brand new visitors center and rode a tram out to the monument. We walked through a light mist of rain from the tram stop to the chamber. All before dawn. All hopeful to witness something none of us had seen before—the Winter Solstice sunrise into a stone age chamber.

Since my husband did not care to go inside the neolithic chamber, we had invited friends to go with us. One of them went into the chamber with me, while the other waited outside. My hubby stayed back at the hotel and slept in that morning.

Inside the chamber

Heading into the chamber. Thank goodness for house lights, as it was narrow and I had to duck in sections of the passageway in.

While we all waited patiently for the sunrise, someone played crystal bowls and chanted lightly.

I caught a quick picture of the crystal bowls later, after the lights were on.

I think because the sun didn’t shine for us that morning, the stewards of the site, granted us a few more minutes, so after the 20 exited, our friends got to go back inside (along with myself and our driver, Edel). And we ALL felt sooo privileged!

Another view of that area looking straight ahead. The stones were gigantic and the etchings on each were fascinating!

I spent several minutes inside the chamber soaking up the feeling of just BEing there. Though my feet were cold, I remember thinking it wasn’t as cold overall as I had thought it might be. But without the little pen light flashlights on, or the house lights, it is really pitch dark in the chamber. I had put my hand out in front of my face at one point in the dark, as we all waited for sunrise, and I couldn’t even see my hand!

One of the stones were carved into a huge basin or bowl!

My favorite (and perhaps the most well known) of the carvings or etchings into the stone at the rear of the chamber. Note: It is the symbol on the pendant I bought there and have worn everyday since.

On the way out of the chamber the last time, I consciously chose to take my gloves off and touch the ancient stones and whisper, “Thank you” to them. I felt such a connection with those incredible stones.

Coming out of the chamber

Coming out of the chamber.

The majority of our group had walked back to the tram that moves people from the visitors center to the chamber site, so only a few of us remained. It was so delicious that we had more time inside the chamber and were able to really engage with the park staff and ask questions, take pictures (normally not allowed), and sing, chant, or meditate. Afterwards, we caught another tram back to the visitors center, which gave us even more time to visit!

You can see how bundled most of us were and that the ground was wet. This was at the entrance/exit of the chamber. One way in and out. Everyone has to duck at the entrance.

As for the sunrise, a cold weather front happened to be moving in just as the sun was about to rise. Go figure! We’d experienced beautiful weather all week in Dublin (cold but clear), but the day of our chamber visit, it chose to rain. It is what it is. And I gained insights.

Insights

Some of the inspiring messages that dropped into my mind were deeper “unlockings” (yes, my new word), of concepts that I’d been given previously, and others were new. See these examples:

Expanded quotes of mine.
A release mantra (prayer or meditation) that I was given. ❤️🦋🌀

I had questioned myself (when Bru na Boinne visitor center had contacted me that I’d won the entry), about spending the time and money to go, since the sunrise only lasts for 17 minutes and is weather dependent, but I chose to go. And we did have an excellent time with our friends.

We got to learn so much more about Dublin on this trip. As well as, I had gotten to meet Edel, and hear some timeless stories (such as the one about my namesake, Sheela na gig), that we otherwise would not have known.

Christmas in Dublin

Me by the Christmas tree at the Trinity City hotel, Dublin Ireland.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that Christmas time in Dublin was a beautiful treat too! We visited several places during our week there, sites we had not had the time to see in July.

We spent half a day at the Guinness factory, went to a botanical park, shopped (I bought Claddagh rings for my granddaughters), visited the Whiskey Museum Experience, went to the oldest pub for a dinner and musical storytelling evening, as well as laughed ourselves silly on a haunted bus tour that ended up at a pub and cemetery!

Coming home

I returned to the USA with energy, enthusiasm, and enlightenment from my time at this sacred site.

When you visit Ireland, arrange a multi-day tour with Tony Corcoran of Wild Irish Tours:

Or a fascinating ride with Edel, of Eriu Tours:

https://m.facebook.com/eriutours/

With Tony you will experience the authentic Ireland, with storytelling and singing to boot! Tony’s sense of humor will delight you. Tony’s bus was so comfortable and provided all the needed amenities to make riding all day in it a pleasure.

We booked our December ride from Dublin to Newgrange with Tony, but through a twist of fate, he was unavailable at that time. However, because Tony is incredibly caring, he arranged for another driver and guide, Edel, to take us out to Newgrange for the Winter Solstice sunrise event.

And right from the get go (as we left our hotel), I felt a strong sense of connection with Edel. Edel told me deeply meaningful stories, as we rode out to Newgrange in the early morning of December 18th, that brought a tear to my eye more than once! I felt so supported by my family (all Beyond The Veil) and by the Universe.

My time at Newgrange and our entire week in Dublin was ALL pure magic.
