‘Thrive in 25’ – Next! Learning all the time
Today’s Friday here in the United States of America. So, if I say, “I am excited about what we’re doing next Saturday,” do you think I am referring to tomorrow or a week from tomorrow?
My daughter posed this question to me earlier this week (Tuesday), about my use of the word, next, when I had said, “I’m excited about our eye exam next Saturday.” I was shocked when she didn’t know I was referring to the upcoming Saturday, which is tomorrow!
After all my years as a writer, I didn’t know there could be different ways to interpret the word, next! Ha! Go figure. Learning all the time!
When I looked up the definition of next, here’s what I found:

I was schooled in West Virginia and to me, I was using next to mean the, “nearest or immediately succeeding” Saturday.
But my daughter was schooled in Florida, and has lived in New England for more than the last ten years. And she interpreted my use of, next, (as further analysis uncovered) to mean the Saturday of the following week:
So, as always (and perhaps with all things), there can be multifaceted meanings and different ways of expressing thoughts and ideas. Ha!
Spiral thought: When I argue (even a little bit) with someone over anything, it highlights that I still have an ego.
Everything happens for a reason in the multiverse with myriad sides to every story
Yes, Everything Happens for a Reason in the multiverse and Everything Resolves to Gratitude. Knowing that each of us (as fractals) uplifts my mind and allows me to view life as a lively kaleidoscope grand design that moves about in an ever-expanding, revolving, melodious, consciousness. Even if we have to disconnect from some people, for a time.
Enjoy (IN Joy) everything and love! Be Everything All the Time. Let’s THRIVE in ’25!

Integrating the Spirals: Dexter
Ah, doesn’t the TV series, Dexter, just check all of our multifaceted and moral ambiguity boxes?!? Ugh, yeeeaaasssss! A guilty pleasure to watch, I say.
Moral ambiguities abound
Sometimes most of us, if we’re honest, while taking a fearless moral inventory, have wished to take out vengeful, violent retribution on someone at some time in our lives. I can’t be alone in this. Especially when one considers Dexter’s appeal.
Even if we catch our vengeful thought before it becomes a feeling. Even if we feel the tug before intellectualizing it. It’s there. Seething. That righteous moral authority to take action to right a wrong or save an innocent from harm.
I think this is why we like, or dare I say, love, Dexter Morgan. The handsome yet unassuming Clark Kent type star character of the show that bears his name.
First came the original Dexter series. Ah! Miami. I loved the setting for this series. It gave me Miami Vice vibes. Of course also because it was another police drama. But Dexter had more of a gritty edge. Dexter was brilliantly written (where sadly, Miami Vice fell flat in its story lines on several episodes).
And the original Dexter spent a good chunk of time building and fleshing out great characters! Something Miami Vice attempted to do, but didn’t quite accomplish. (I always wanted more background on Gina and more martial arts from Lt. Castillo). The Shield (plenty of moral ambiguities on it as well) actually did a better job.
The original Dexter also had incredible guest stars, like John Lithgow and Tom Hanks’ son, Colin Hanks. Now, Keith Carradine was pretty amazing too, as well as the lovely Julie Benz.
Now, I must admit, I have always been a Michael C. Hall fan too, since Six Feet Under (another one of my favorite shows, and another show full of moral ambiguities too!). So, right off the bat, Dexter was a must see. And every season of the original was expertly executed IMHO. The writing from Scott Buck returns (yes, Scott was also a writer on Six Feet Under), and he’s even sharper this time around! (Pun happily intended.) You know Dexter’s adopted father, played by the fantastic James Remar, had to have come from Buck because it’s a play right out of Six Feet Under!
The Dexter franchise can keep growing as far as I’m concerned, it’s continuing to explode and explore multifaceted possibilities.
In Dexter: New Blood, Dexter has a son, played by Jack Alcott, who is fast becoming adept at continuing to “follow the code.” He eerily seems very good at following in Dexters footsteps, while bringing his own heart and style to the table. The supporting cast in this show is amazing too!
In Dexter: Original Sin, Patrick Gibson is well cast as a young Dexter and almost creepily gives us something that’s not often found. A way to look back in time and into the formation of the mind of our anti-hero. And I’m a big Christian Slater fan, so though Scott Buck was missing from the writing cast on this show, I couldn’t keep from watching this with glee! I thought most of the cast were spot on in their portrayal of their characters. Almost as if in reality they are big fans of the original Dexter too!
Of course by Dexter: Resurrection we get several of the characters from the original Dexter back, including James Remar (yay!), which is deliciously delightful. Plus, some characters (the ones who didn’t make it to the series end) return within memory flashbacks—three guesses as to why!
This franchise TV series may be sinful, and one I will have to answer for one day, but if it quenches any hint of me committing any physical act of moral retribution, while entertaining me… ah, how could it be that bad?

Integrating the Spirals: On LACK and ABUNDANCE
I question reality often.
Last night I followed a guided meditation (on 4DU) and had the following experience I thought I’d share:
During the guided meditation section, when Aaron asked to point to LACK, I thought all I see is BLACK with my eyes closed and that represents LACK to me (even now I see the word Lack IN the word Black)! Then I thought, the blind see black all the time but they still have what they need, some more than what they need! Thus being visually-impaired doesn’t mean they are lacking.
I then saw myself putting a finger in water to make a hole to symbolize Lack. I then realized that I thought I could put a hole into the water but I couldn’t! The water actually enveloped my finger and even entered my finger!
It was a profound visual and aha moment!
I’d prefer to focus on the abundance that is ALL around me
I now see where some preachers preach a “Prosperity Gospel.” And though I still picture Jesus the Christ as a humble and poor man, illustrated by his wearing of sandals, being fed and put up in friendly homes, and traveling light (without much “stuff”), I have learned He did have followers and relatives who were people of means. They could have financed His ministry. I guess we may never know for sure? And at any rate, we are told in Matthew 16:19 and in 18:18:
“I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
What ABUNDANCE do you perceive?
I see the sky. Hear the birds. And myriad LIFE happening ALL around me!
May we open to experiencing the multifaceted MORE!

Most of you know I grew up in the Chemical Valley of West Virginia and Ohio (along the Ohio River). And that I had asthma from age 6 to my early 40s. So, it should come as no surprise how invested I am in helping people understand the stranglehold Chemical companies hold on us. And why I feel we must do everything in our power to break their power over us and heal our bodies.
This is another nail in their coffin.

Integrating the Spirals: Call from my dad
I don’t know if she will let me reblog this (because she copyrighted it, and she’s closed comments on it too (ugh!), but as soon as I saw this post from Michele Lee, I felt it was a call from MY dad!! There are simply TOO MANY synchronicities here for me to ignore!
My dad’s birthday was also July 10th. He passed away March of 2019 (Michele’s dad passed a few weeks earlier, Feb. 2019). They both rode motorcycles and had several different corvette’s over the years. We always had a boat too, and dad loved water skiing.
And the horse photo Michele’s dad took, reminded me of a horse we used to have and the times dad and I would go riding together. Tears!
Lastly, I didn’t get to see the buck moon last night because it was cloudy here, but I was thinking of all the buck deer 🦌 my dad used to kill and bring home to mom and I (and how in his later years, dad didn’t want to kill any more). Dad said he realized they were beautiful. And then, I was also reminded of the deer family I was blessed to see in Ireland on a cool early morning walk on the Wicklow Way in 2019.
