It’s October 31st, 2024; We’ve got a new original modern country song on this Halloween to honor our family and friends on the Other Side. And to ease the grief of those who have suffered loss. Our hearts go out to you. Pro Nasheville singer, Tim Buppert provided the heartfelt vocals on this melodic original song. A wonderful radio ready, full sound production from Beaird Music Group of Nashville, TN. https://www.beairdmusicgroup.com
This is the three-hundred-fifth new music post for 2024! Yes, one of the things I teach in my Integrating the Spirals, is how to honor our ancestors and relations who have Crossed Over to the Other Side of The Veil. So, this time of year is very special to me. And this song, is also revered in our house.
We’re thinking of doing a few new things next year to help you get to know us better. Would you like to hear audio from Richard? Perhaps the way I used to post audio from me? Or would you listen to a podcast with Richard and me? Let us know in the comments. I know everyone is busy and have short attention spans, so before we go putting out the effort or spending the money on a podcast, I want to know what our audience prefers.
Caregivers and taxes
When Richard suffered a stroke in October of 2022, I found myself having to continue working full-time (thankfully, I worked from home), but also I became my husband’s caregiver. No, he didn’t need help with restroom activities, but I did have to take over banking and bill paying, and do all the cooking (Richard had previously cooked some special dishes, which gave me a break, but I had to learn how to make those or we wouldn’t have them). After the stroke, Richard couldn’t wash any dishes, or even take out the trash. He couldn’t drive or even ride comfortably in the front passenger seat next to me (it made him dizzy). I had to do it ALL. And while he felt bad that I had more workload on me, I just simply had to do it to keep us living in the standard we had become accustomed to. I didn’t begrudge this. He wasn’t a burden. But a tax credit sure would have been nice. (I had somehow thought I could quit my job and receive some sort of caregiver financial assistance from Social Security, but no, it doesn’t work that way.)
Thankfully, my place of employment reduce their demands upon my time but continued allowing me to work, until I could retire. That was a huge blessing to us!
And also, thankfully, two years later, Richard can take out the trash and recycle items. And he can even ride in the front passenger seat when my daughter takes us out.
You see, I have always done our own taxes and every year, when I plug my numbers in first, the software shows we’d get a refund. When I plug in Richard’s social security and pension, we always owed. He never felt it was right that we’d have to pay taxes on what was owed to him, Now, this will be the first full year that I am retired. We’ll see what the software says when I only have social security and Richard’s pension to plug in. I believe President Trump when he says he’ll give us a tax credit. Not that I’ll need it so much now, since I am not working, but it would just be nice not to have to pay any taxes on what we’ve earned over the course of our working lives.

Everything happens for a reason
Yes, Everything Happens for a Reason and Everything Resolves to Gratitude. Knowing that each of us (as fractals) uplifts my mind and allows me to view life as a lively kaleidoscope grand design that moves about in an ever-expanding, revolving, melodious, consciousness. Even if we have to disconnect from some people, for a time.
Enjoy (IN Joy) everything and love! Be Everything All the Time. Let’s soar in ’24! And let’s (are you ready for this?) THRIVE in ’25!
Yours in expanding, sharing, spiraling consciousness,
Sheila “Spiral Sister” Murrey

As metalman says regarding the UK. My sister too is listed as my Dad’s carer. But they do tax me as a pensioner. The NHS pension takes me above the allowed earnings threshold alongside my state pension. So my NHS pension is now taxed. It has been a crazy time here in the UK over the last years regarding the impact upon us as ordinary citizens making a mediocre monetary living. Fingers crossed for you Sheila. Cheers.

Ah, I hear you, Gray. It’s absolutely INSANE the amount of money our leaders make (on insider trading of stocks, etc. Speaking engagements, books, and such, waste it on frivolous wars and people who haven’t contributed, while the rest of us ‘ordinary citizens’ get screwed over! I just wrote Michael back ‘metalman,’ that I was burned out from working my job (ironically I had to read through government contracts and write proposals those last 2-3 years at my job which just added to my disdain for government)—sometimes working overnight too or weeks on end without a day off, I guess similar to nursing schedules though I wasn’t on my feet/away from home. I didn’t realize just how burned out I was.
Yes, your example is exactly what happened to us. We always seemed to be barely above a financial tax threshold.
You chose the best word, Gray. Mediocre.
Thank you for crossing your fingers for us.
I did a beautiful meditation last night before falling asleep that I will post about today. I am thankful for this blogging community that keeps me sane. Cheers, Gray!

Another great song, Sheila. I hope whoever gets in they will look at tax for carers. Here in the UK, my wife’s daughter is listed as her full time carer and gets £60 a week.

That’s what I had thought I might get for caring for Richard. I think I burned myself out in the first few months (trying to do all that work in my job and care for Richard. And I was getting my Reiki certifications then too! Thought that was a good thing though, but all put stress on me to get things done).
I began to get VERY annoyed and put out with friends who were not helping. I didn’t want to become a resentful person so we moved. I guess that really is the long and short of it.
Thank you for the vote of confidence on the song too, Michael!

You’re welcome. I would be very grateful if you could read an old post of mine and let me know your thoughts. I meant to post the link yesterday but I was in work and not in touch with my desktop. https://peacefulrampage.wordpress.com/2017/10/30/happy-halloween-america-didnt-force-it-on-anyone/

Oh, thank you, Michael! That is an excellent article! We have two things going on.
First, Halloween (like Christmas), is soley been commercialized! If companies didn’t advertise and profit from all that candy making, we probably wouldn’t have ever had it.
Second, if it weren’t for Hollywood this silly holiday (which isn’t even a federal holiday in America), wouldn’t have grown as it has.
Spiral thought: I always thought Halloween started in Scotland or Ireland because of Samhain.
I agree with your assessment. No one in the UK has to celebrate Halloween. Come to think of it, the UK would probably be better off not to accept American culture. (As our country has ‘gone to hell in a handbasket, as my mom used to always say.)
