November 30th – First friends

It’s November 30th, 2024; We’ve got a true story song for you today. I wrote the lyrics and Richard polished for phrasing, then we had Lisa Brokop sing this heartfelt song–Lisa was recently inducted into the British Columbia country music hall of fame. This song also includes soulful saxophone from John Heinrich because the music track was originally recorded at Steven Cooper’s Nashville, TN music studio. The remix was later recorded at the Beaird Music Group of Nashville, TN. https://www.beairdmusicgroup.com

This is the three-hundred-thirty-fifth new music post for 2024! Always “live while you’re living” as the song says. That was a phrase that came to Sheila from her first friend, Joey Duvall. Joey was the inspiration for the song when he passed away in Jan. 2021 after receiving one of the first COVID vaccines in December of 2020. Joey was a nursing supervisor who was continuing his education at the time of his death. He had a flu shot the November prior to receiving the COVID vax that December. And then, just two weeks after that, he crossed over to the Grand Beyond. (Refer to my previous article: https://sheilamurrey.net/2021/10/20/cvid/

Joe’s untimely passing was crushing to me and my longtime friends, April, Carol Lee, and Beverly, who’d all known each other since ages 3 and 4. It’s still emotionally upsetting to write about this, even now. Joe’s obituary: https://www.mariettatimes.com/obituaries/2021/01/joseph-michael-duvall/

I have nurses in my family. And I was named after my mom’s deliver nurse, Sheila. I never wanted to become a nurse, but I often wore my aunts nursing cap when I was a child and she’d stayed with us for a few weeks during her time in nursing school. One of my first cousins, Carol Sue, was a nurse and died of cancer after having her child. Another first cousin, Laurie, was a nurse turned manager and ran several dialysis clinics–driving many distances between them.

I have been surrounded by nurses my whole life. Even the Acupuncture physician who saved my life back in 2005 had been an oncology nurse for 26 years before she went back to school for Acupuncture and became a Doctor of Oriental Medicine because she kept seeing teenage girls come into to the medical practice for breast cancer oncology treatments! She wanted to get to the root cause of why this kept happening. I wrote about Joan’s story in Have Yourself a Wholly Vibrant Life: Reversing Asthma and Other Chronic Illness Naturally.

Even if we have to disconnect from some people, for a time.

April 21st – Gummin’ the Calamari

It’s April 21st, 2024; Here’s an original rock song (with cowbell) as we relax this weekend. It’s on a topic that Richard and I talked about for years. I always thought I’d get dentures–even when I was young! (I always hated my teeth.) This song puts some fun into all of that!

More fun than sex

Here’s the one-hundred-twelfth new music post for 2024, as I consistently bring you piano, guitar, and in this case, cowbell in original songs full of fun and laughter (a lot of the time). Yes, we put all our creative energies into our writing and songwriting! Ha! Take that as you may. We’re always open to receive and ready to for you to interpret our creations as you will.

Interconnectedness

I love the interconnectedness of ALL. And that is the subject of my 5th book that’s currently in progress. To that end, (the book not Consciousness), I watched the replay of a presentation I’d signed up for and then realized I had double-booked myself on Friday.

Emerging Consciousness

I’ve mentioned before how I love it “when a plan comes together.” Likewise, here we are today, after I had an enlightening conversation during my Theosophy book club on Friday, another with my second-cousin on Saturday morning, and then from observing the conversations in my mind after reviewing the IONS presentation this morning!

I won’t go into the full one-hour discourse of the IONS presentation, but here are a few takeaways I understood from it:

  • When the mind studies the Mind
  • Meditation, Philosophy, and Science = The Triune
  • Metaphysics includes: Buddhism, Shamanism, Shaivism, Kabbalah, and Vedanta
  • Metaphysics includes Intuition to reach Knowing (my conclusion)

April 20th – Hip-Hop Redneck

It’s April 20th, 2024; Here’s an original hip-hop rock song as we celebrate the weekend–though it’s all the same for me since I retired. LOL! This song goes out to ALL of you who love the fusion of hip-hop and rock. And I wonder what you’ll think of Richard’s twist on that! Head-buttin’, beer-spewin’, cornbread-eatin’, guitar-pickin’, hip-hop redneck music! Ha!

Here’s the one-hundred-eleventh new music post for 2024, as I consistently heap original songs onto your head–at least I’m doing so one at a time so as not to overwhelm you! Ha! This is a fun song. It’s got jaw-dropping lyrics and side lyrics and sounds to stir some laughter. And maybe, just maybe, you can enjoy hanging out with rednecks. I guess it is an appropriate song for 4/20 too! Ha!

I’m not too much a fan of rap, but ever since Aerosmith and Run DMC redid Walk This Way, I’ve enjoyed hip-hop and rock. And ever since Kid Rock, I’ve enjoyed the fusion of rock and country. I also love Yanni, who brought back my love for orchestral music. I guess I am simply a fan of fusion.

Family ties

It just so happens that we had breakfast this morning with some cousins I’d never met before. so I’m on a cloud! I am so happy, as meeting my cousin, Rosa Lee, was one of my goals and reasons for moving to Ocala (so we could meet after being friends on Facebook for ten years). And she brought her granddaughter with her too (who has hair like me)! Richard and I so enjoyed meeting them. It really brought up the importance of Family to me and how much alike we are. I mention this too, because Rose Lee gave me some more information on my grandmother (and pictures), and that one of my aunts may have become a nurse after caring for my grandmother after she had a stroke when I was young.

Enjoying the time

I think the older I get the more I love to think about what my grandparents lived through, The Great Depression, living without electricity, living without indoor plumbing, growing their own food, and raising it too (Rosa Lee remembered the rooster my grandparents had and how mean it was). I came home and saw a Facebook post from my daughter about the glass mushroom she made at her art studio and also some broken glass art. I then thought of my mom and how much she loved mosaics. And now, we’re full circle, aren’t we? Everything happens for a reason. And we are all given life to enjoy the time.

April 19th – Heavy with Child rocks Live!

It’s April 19th, 2024; Here’s an original hard rock song as we roll into the weekend. For those of you who love rock, and prefer the Live production sound, this one’s for you! Richard’s band, The Righteous Buds, who performed around Brevard County, Florida for about ten years (late 1990s to mid 2000s), and this tune was one of their original crowd pleasers.

Aligns with what we’re watching

Here’s the one-hundred-tenth new music post for 2024, as I consistently lay out one of our original songs to the masses. I am always amused when one of the music videos I pick to share pops up in alignment with a show we’re watching. In this case, this video follows the one I shared yesterday (in the sequence of videos on Richard’s YouTube channel), and aligns with the episodes we’re watching of seasons 4 and 5 of Weeds where the protagonist, Nancy Botwin, is with child.

Biology

I find Biology sooo very interesting. I probably would have gone into nursing (as I had several nurses as role models in our family, and even younger cousins who became nurses), but I strongly disliked the sight and smells of blood, puke, and other bodily excretions. UGH! I was even named after my mom’s delivery nurse! So, yes, I give all my nurse friends kudos for handling all of that for sure! I had two children so I totally understand how grateful my mom was to nurse Sheila for helping get me out of her. (I love you, Mom!)

The reason I bring up Biology and my interest in it is that there are a lot of jobs that deal with Biology other than nursing, and I think I would have been GREAT at some of these:

  • Academic/Medical Researcher (or some kind of Health Archeologist)
  • Health Writer (Oh, I guess I have done that! I wrote a 200+ page holistic health book)
  • Lecturer/Teacher/Professor
  • Find more here.

Digging in

I love digging in the dirt, both literally and metaphorically. I love digging for evidence of natural healing or healing via alternative methods. I geek out while listening to NES Health presentations (like the one I attended yesterday with Dr. Zulia – here’s a link to their Instagram ad for the webinar. If you’d like to register on the NES Health site, you can watch the replay). I also geek out on lectures by Dr. Zach Bush (he talks a lot about birthing babies and sitting with the dying, as well as the health of soil) and conference proceedings from doctors Joe Dispenza and Bruce Lipton. I love to read about the complex inner workings of our selves (mind, body, spirit, and soul). I love us on ALL levels. We’re so multidimensional and fractal. Ah!
