Expanding Consciousness
What kinds of things do you do to challenge or stretch your consciousness?
I guess Consciousness, as a topic, interests me because of my mother’s demise from Alzheimer’s dis-ease. Because I am forward thinking. And I am so into the whole mind-body-spirit thing–Holistic Health–as well as, coming to understand the “Interconnection of ALL.”

Intriguing ideas
Shirley MacLaine has said she believes the reason why we’re here (in this life) is curiosity. And I feel there are myriad topics we can be curious about, only one of which is Consciousness.
Science has yet to provide us much solid evidence on where our consciousness resides. Much research is ongoing about that. And it intrigues me.
Many fictional TV and film creations, such as Fringe the X-Men movies, brought noetic concepts into mainstream awareness.
Noetic Science
Since the 1970s, the term, “noetics” (“how beliefs, thoughts, and intentions affect the physical world”), has been used by several authors. The books Deep Spirit: Cracking the Noetic Code (2008) by Christian de Quincey and The Lost Symbol (2009) by Dan Brown, reveal a plethora of interesting information on the topics of consciousness and spirituality. Visit the Institute of Noetic Sciences, for more.
When I learned about the noetic sciences and began attending IONS group meetings, that led me to discover the Pachamama Alliance (to be discussed in another post).
Now, such terms as, conscious businesses and socially responsible corporations are becoming well known.
Seat of Consciousness
I’ve heard that Consciousness, more than simply being in our mind or brain, is actually a grand field of interconnected waves that we plug into, as we would turn on a TV to watch a transmitted program. Perhaps the great masters knew of this.
About making changes
It has been said that nobody will change anything in their life until the perceived fear of the unknown is less than the pain of remaining the same.
Tony Robbins has talked about how people will violate their own values in order to meet one or more of their perceived needs.
I find moral ambiguities intriguing. I find the shadows we create (as we block the light), interesting.
Conscious change
I read a lot about how in order to actually make changes of habits that actually stick, one must make conscious changes in day-to-day routines.
This means one must consciously choose to drop one task / habit in exchange for another. Willingly. With focus. And we have to be operating in or near the vibration/frequency range (resonance) before we can begin to understand anything new too. 😉
Because I focus on incorporating new ideas, tactics, and tips into my life, I read (or listen to many of the following advanced teachers):
- Dr. Michael Bernard Beckwith
- Gregg Braden
- Chris Cade
- Dr. Joe Dispenza
- Tim Ferriss
- MIT biochemist, Raymond Francis
