Reading How to Become a Christian in 7 Days by Russell Brand is exactly the uproarious romp I thought it might be! It contains loads of addiction recovery prompts, biblical quotes and stories, as well as Russel’s personal (and deep) shares from his own periods of self reflection. I can’t say enough good things about the book already, though I am only about 2/3 of the way through it.
As to why I chose to read this book, well, we’ve watched Russell Brand for years, and I thought, “I gotta know how God got hold of him”! And he answers that and so much more in the book (and yes, he even talks a bit about Katy Perry and some Hollyweird stuff).

I also updated a previous blog post: https://sheilamurrey.net/2023/09/08/my-spirituality/ with the fact that I re-committed my life back to Christ Jesus in 2025. I really felt drawn back to Christ after spiraling down the rabbit hole of conspiracy theories, after friends (many Leftists) abandoned us after Richard’s stroke in October 2022 (in Florida), and after Charlie Kirk was murdered. Yes, I was also witnessing many people, including Russell, commit their lives to Christ as well, and all of it combined to show me that I’d lost the friend I’d had in Jesus (to quote a beloved song).
Ultimately, yes I still write and speak of Omniscience God (see this previous post too): https://sheilamurrey.net/2014/01/19/why-do-i-censor-or-limit-myself-god-is-just-be/ but I consider Christ Jesus my savior and shepherd.
If any of my words trigger you, it’s because there’s a wounded or fragmented part of you that is calling out for healing.
