January 22nd – Why can’t I love you?

It’s January 22nd, 2024; This original country song asks several questions. Why can’t I love you if he won’t? Does he really care for you or pretend? Does he light the passion in your soul? The man in the story is asking a woman he’s interested in, that if she’s not happy would she consider him.

A different angle on this love song

Here’s the twenty-second new music post for 2024, as I continue presenting one of our original songs each day this year. The story is asking if the woman is with the man because of a promise that was made, but if the fire’s gone out of their love, he’s letting her that he’s interested in loving her.

Loving from afar

This song is about something many of us have experienced–love from afar. We witness someone neglect or mistreat another and we imagine how we’d care for (or love) that person better. We may ask the same or similar questions as the protagonist in the song.

He wants to rescue her and perhaps offer her another option. He’s pretty sure she’s not happy with who she’s with.

Story songs

As I dig deeper into Richard’s treasure trove of original songs, I find that a good many are story songs. At least, that’s the term I’ve come up with to explain them. Most of his earlier songs are classified as Country Music. I get that not everyone enjoys Country Music and thus, if someone likes the lyrics and melody, it can be done in another style. I’ve noticed a lot of artists rework prior hit songs in other musical styles because they love the song. A great song can become a hit in multiple genres.

January 20th – Because we don’t know anyone

It’s January 20th, 2024; This original song is about testifying and satisfying our needs. I bet it could be understood in different ways. Ask me what you need to know. But I may not reveal everything I know. We all hide things. Secrets. We may not even acknowledge our personal guilt, shame, or sins we’ve committed in the past (and have not been caught).

Here’s the twentieth new music post for 2024, as I consistently extend to you one of our original songs each day this year. This might be a Pop or Rock ballad song. Let me know what you think. It’s definitely NOT Country. It presents a timely topic for us now, with Disclosure coming out on many things (not only UAP/UFO things, but history, political figures, etc.)

Come clean

I see Acceptance as part of Shadow.

Like every experience in our lives, this is personal. I was telling my husband (Richard) at breakfast this morning that someone in my blogging community (who are WOKE) has still not learned to accept without attachment the fact that someone they otherwise love and have followed for years, like J.K. Rowling or Roseanne, can put one wrong tweet out and get them all sensitive and feathers ruffled. And then the ruffled ones stop following their favorite author, blogger, or celebrity, or worse, cancel them and speak ill of them. The jokes on them at that point as karma will bring that back to visit them.

It’s not a hex to face the reality of a situation. It’s a hex to start judging and tampering with things we know not of the full expression yet. And why I was given the statement, We each learn at differing rates of speed. And why we are not yet (perhaps in our glorified bodies one day when we are pure) to judge anyone. It’s not only “judge not” it’s “those without sin, cast the first stone” and no one yet living is pure enough to do that. It’s often those who say “love and light” who do not fully embody unconditional love, unfortunately.

Non-attachment to acknowledge and feel better

As I wrote in my post on January 4th, we are all learning. As I learn, I discern, and yes, I do boycott some businesses, but more because I want to vote with my dollars and align with those who share my ideals today–fully acknowledging their ideals could change tomorrow, or my understanding or perceptions could change tomorrow.

I am wise enough to know there’s no way to fully know another person (per one of my favorite quotes of all time). Those who throw J.K. Rowling or Marion Zimmer Bradley under the bus for perceived wrongs are really missing the boat. I am not condoning hurtful or abusive actions, but one never knows who they are sitting beside. Or what it may do in the future, good or bad.

Six Feet Under quote, “You can’t ever really know a person. If you think you can, you’re living in a f’n dream world.”

I want to come clean and live my life as an open book, which is why I blog. I have a clear conscience. I am the type of person who could not sleep at night if I didn’t have a clear conscience.

Also, I want to express the truth of myself before others spin my stories to suit their purposes. So, I testify here. But I continue to uncover more about my soul, uncover memories of the hurtful past, and perhaps not everyone needs to read about all that. Perhaps it would only bring pain to others to learn of the traumas I experienced.

The kaleidoscope shows all the broken fragments and fractals as ONE. So, for now, I accept the bad with the good. I do what I can to help (like supporting Operation Underground Railroad), pray for “all the captives to be set free,” and write uplifting posts, while acknowledging we aren’t there yet (pure, wholesome, much less perfect).

It’s January 19th, 2024; This original song is about loving again after a heartbreak. Don’t let the past ill-fated relationship get you down. You can do better. The best is yet to come.

Here’s the nineteenth new music post for 2024 as I consistently extend to you one of our original songs each day this year. This might be a sad country song (but with some piano), that offers hope to keep smiling! You can love yourself again, do better, and find a new love under the sun. You can find an angel, Yes! There’s hope! Allow your new love to come smoothly (or not at all). Just keep working on loving yourself until you don’t even miss the one left behind.

After a wreck of a relationship, have hope!

Have hope! Allow God (or the Universe) to bring new love into your life! This could simply be learning how to love yourself more fully, or allowing a new loving relationship in! Most of us have experienced the unconditional love a fur child/pet brings to us, love yourself that same way–unconditionally! Don’t hate yourself for not reaching some imagined state of Perfection. And don’t think because some romantic love left you that you’re unworthy of love–that’s just not true. All are worthy. We can all do better, for ourselves and for others. Life is growth!

Learn the lessons and feel better

I’ve been in that down and depressed place, a state of mind that isn’t helpful. It wasn’t helpful or loving to myself and it sure wasn’t going to attract anyone new into my life! Learning from past relationships allows you to grow and do better for yourself. Have you heard that before? Well, it’s true! I mean, if you want to wallow in self-pity, fine. But that’s not going to bring a new loving relationship that’s best for you into your life.

If it were a perfect world lonely
Be happy no matter what!

I explained yesterday that forgiving yourself and moving on is one of the best ways to find new love again. Actually, you don’t have to FIND it, simply be happy and ALLOW the new love to find YOU! And for Omniscience God’s sake, drop this silly idea of Perfection. There’s no such thing. We each learn (and grow) at differing rates of speed.

There is no perfect life, job, childhood, or marriage, etc. There is a perfect God who is able to lead us through this imperfect life though… I call it, Omniscience.

January 18th – An honest-to-goodness cry in your beer song

It’s January 18th, 2024; This original song is an honest-to-goodness “cry in your beer” song. It’s a song about getting divorced. Yes, it’s a more “cry in your beer” song than the one I shared yesterday! Don’t listen! Haha! Sometimes I feel these topics lead me into expanding consciousness in reverse. Ha! Learning from the missteps to expand rather than shrink our consciousness into victimhood.

A country song about taking his heart as you leave

Here’s the eighteenth new music post for 2024 as I consistently trek through all our original songs this year. This is a sad love story where he asks, “If you’re leaving give me one more wish,” to take his heart with her as she leaves through the door. Take the love and trust they built with promises and go. I doubt this would stop someone from leaving, but who knows? Maybe. Would it make you reconsider leaving? Let me know what you think.

If you left, did you take the memories with you?

Have you left a marriage? If so, there were no doubt good and bad memories. Did you take the memories right or wrong with you? Are you still holding a grudge? Do you have sleepless nights due to guilt or regret?

Learn the lessons and let go

I was left once, and then the second time, I was the one to leave. I had to work through the shock and angst over the first marriage ending (though I’d known it wasn’t a good marriage for years). And then after much therapy and counseling, I was the one who left (in the second marriage). Apparently, I’d built up some resilience after the first marriage ended, though I don’t think it made leaving the second guy any easier. Divorce is still the toughest experience I’ve been through (even more difficult than the loss of my parents, and I’m an only child)!

The best part of my first marriage was definitely having my two children. Now, they’re in their forties, and I have three bright and beautiful granddaughters (from my daughter). As for the second marriage, I have more bad memories than good, though I learned a LOT! I learned a great deal about mental health, being gaslit, lied to, manipulated, abused, etc. Not a good scene folks! After that, I’ve always felt I could get through anything! And it’s why I stayed single for more than ten years and wasn’t even too keen on dating again when Richard came along.

I learned to rely on myself more when someone mistreated me. And when I left, I truly understood the power of forgiveness; I understand how powerful I am to be able to choose to “let go.” Let go of that person, cut the cords that had connected us spiritually, and focus on myself and my needs, wants, and desires. This is especially true for anyone who’s lost themselves in the other person. Classic codependency.

I explained some of that yesterday in the snake analogy. No one has to be a victim. And I don’t feel I ever got trapped in victimhood. I always sensed my power, but I did have to get my “ducks in a row” before I could leave. When one has no visible means of support and the paycheck is only enough for half the rent and food, it’s tough to leave and live on one’s own. I sooo get that!

That’s where education and skills training can make all the difference. It’s a lot easier for an educated person to leave a relationship. Or someone who has saved and squirreled away a nest egg to be able to leave. Call it an Emergency Fund. Have a Plan B for your sanity. In fact, I’d say, learning how to save money is another way of treating yourself well. Your diligence in saving money shows you how much you respect yourself.

January 17th – Stone cold

It’s January 17th, 2024; This original song is a different kind of love song, perhaps it is a song about being jilted. Do you think ALL or most people live lives only to love and be loved? Or do you feel there are more undesirable, fake, cheaters in the world? Maybe those people have turned stone-cold toward the world.

A country song about a woman who has turned stone cold

Here’s the seventeenth new music post for 2024 as I consistently offer our original songs to everyone. This is a love story where one person has been jilted (he still burns hot for her) or maybe, they’re still together but she’s gone stone-cold (with a cold heart). I think they’re together but she’s a cold fish. She’s fallen out of love with him or has no love left for him. Let me know what you think.

Have you ever loved someone who had a stone cold heart?

Have you burned hot with love for someone but they didn’t love you back in the same way? Perhaps you felt they had a stone-cold heart. I think I’ve been in that situation before, but who can really know? Well, we know by their actions though, right?

A loving heart offers kind and gentle words

I bought several of these stuffed animals for our three young granddaughters a couple of years ago for Christmas. And I watch a lot of Justin’s mental health videos on Facebook. (You can too, just find and follow Chaos & Kindness. There’s about 66k members currently.)

I’m not saying you can win someone’s love by buying them things, but I am saying this was a gesture (on my part) to show our granddaughters how much we love them, as we support a small business that’s local to them (they live far from us). They can snuggle with these bears (or the other stuffed animals and dolls we’ve given them over the years) when we’re not there and think of us. Aww! A loving heart offers expressions of love to others–it’s the thought that counts.

I have had experiences when someone has mistreated me. And when I study the holy scriptures to figure out why, and to forgive them and “let it go,” I find that a loving heart produces kind and gentle words. So, I think the man in the song is living with a mean-spirited woman, perhaps one who has let the world turn her heart stone cold.

I love supporting those who are gentle, kind, and loving. I will put out all the kindness I have in my heart towards others, but if I am consistently hurt or ignored, I have learned to leave them be (leave them alone). I don’t need to keep rattling a snake until it bites me! Haha! Oh, yes, I have learned! If someone snaps once or twice, okay, but consistent bad behavior, wrong-doing, or inflicting intentional hurt is NOT going to win over my affections! I bet most of us feel the same unless you are the kind of person who desires to be hurt or abused (and it’s hard for me to imagine many people like that).

Treat yourself well. Show others that you respect yourself and expect them to treat you accordingly. Do not allow anyone to mistreat or abuse you. You can choose self-respect! The more often you respect yourself watch and see how the world begins to respond better to you.

January 16th – A country duet love song

It’s January 16th, 2024; This original song is of a type that I haven’t yet shared for this year, a duet! Have you noticed people don’t tend to record duets anymore? Or, maybe you know one? If so, please share it in the comments. Maybe (in the cosmic scheme of things) duets are less common in this current timeline where we are attempting to unify and release duality?

Here’s the sixteenth new music post for 2024 as I consistently present our original songs to ALL. This is a love story about a couple who meet in a bar.

Have you met someone at a bar?

Have you met anyone in a bar, whether you met online and then at the bar in person (because it’s a public place), or simply noticed them by happenstance? Or maybe you prefer meeting at restaurants or coffee shops.

First meeting songs

Perhaps this is a specific kind of love song. In fact, I think it’s a precursor to our song, Wonderin‘. That thought just occurred to me this morning when I listened to this again.

Paul’s Smokehouse, Titusville, FL (now, Shiloh’s)

I have met people by happenstance in a bar and so have both of my adult children. I can’t say that ever works out well. But meeting online and getting to know someone well first, then meeting in person, well, that happened with Richard and I. We met at a restaurant bar called, Paul’s Smokehouse in Titusville, Florida (when we met for the first time in person, after talking online and via phone for months). And we’ve known each other well over 20 years now–married for almost 19 of those years!

A good “soulie sister” friend of mine called me yesterday and I relived some of my single years while discussing her search for her forever ‘soulmate’ love. I told her I’d made a list and then quit looking. Richard actually found me! Yes, I put my list and a few modest pictures of me on a dating site back then, but only to get a couple of girlfriends off my back about it, because before then, online dating had NOT worked out for me–guys ‘only wanted one thing’ so to speak. So, I put myself out there in the cyberland again, but had totally let go of the outcome. Only three men wrote to me from that site and Richard was one of them. That’s how limiting and blunt my ‘list to the Universe’ was! LOL And yes, Richard checked off all the boxes, even though a few were not in the way I’d expected. But it worked! God (or the Universe) gave me all I had dreamed of in a man and love relationship with Richard. Aww. Wink!

The biggest lesson I learned in that experience was to LET GO OF THE OUTCOME. I let go of the ‘neediness’ to find someone. I lived my life for myself, my work, my dogs (at the time I had two shih-tzu’s–I’ve written about them years ago, as well as a eulogy for, our Beau), and to buy a house as an investment since I was traveling for work at that time. And that was my advice to her. Focus on improving herself. Work. Pay off bills. Buy what you need for yourself and your future. Put your desire for a soulmate out to the Universe and let them find you–no rush! You’ve got to drop the neediness. When you see other couples around you, give thanks to the Universe for THEIR happiness, without any thought of “Where’s mine”? Yours will come when and how you least expect it.

January 14th – Examining relationship hurts

It’s January 14th, 2024; This original song examines the hurts one experienced during her marriage. It happens to more of us than we’d care to admit, much less look back on and examine. She’s finding not everything was bad, but asks, “Why did the hurt tear us apart”?

Here’s the fourteenth new music post for 2024 as I aim to consistently offer our original songs to the public. This is a story of a marriage falling apart. She’s reexamining it to ask herself some questions and dig deeper. Perhaps looking for lessons learned before moving on? What do you think?

Have you ever reexamined a past love relationship after it ended?

I have looked back on both of my previous marriages to learn from them. And my husband has done the same thing (well, kind of obviously, as he wrote this song). He wrote this years ago, and actually, I had not even heard it until today.

In all of the 12-step programs, group therapy sessions, and counseling I participated in and received after my second marriage ended, I can tell you, that those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it. Even first marriages are often called, Starter Marriages. Why? I think it’s because too many people either marry early or rush into it–typically, out of lust and Control, not love. I hope people learn. Hurt people, hurt people.

I was too young, though I was mature and truly fell in love, for my first marriage. It would have always been a tough marriage, had we stayed together as I’ve had friends in the same situation and held on, but damn, they’ve not had an easy go of it. And I’ve had friends in similar relationships as my second one too, and they’ve been through hell. (Often I have felt if there is a literal hell, it’s here. If there’s another one, I really wouldn’t want to be sent there as living in these kinds of relationships is bad enough.)

Improve YOU, and then your relationships

I cannot control anyone else (no matter how much I may want to)! I can only control me. And actually, there’s a lot of FREEDOM in that.

January 13th – Blues and mental health

It’s January 13th, 2024; We’ll discuss the blues and mental health today. Many people experience the blues, and it could be hormonal, or the result of an illness, side effect of surgery or medication, birth of a child, abandonment, or grieving a loss. As a spiritual person, I’ve talked many people “down from the ledge” in my life. I’ve even had conversations with a few people who I knew were in way too deep for me to help, and I’ve referred them to a licensed mental health professional.

Here’s the thirteenth new music post for 2024 as I aim to consistently offer our original songs to the public. This is a story song that swings with some saxophone you may enjoy.

Our friend, Bubba Hudson, sings this Nashville, TN studio demo for us. Richard wrote this several years ago and worked with Steven Cooper (back when he had a music studio) to put it all together. Steven hired John Heinrich to play the swinging saxophone and Bubba for the vocals. We think the sax in this song kicks it! What do you think?

Have you ever had the blues?

I have experienced the blues a few times in my 62 years. I had postpartum blues after I’d had my babies, and I think it was a little worse after my second. I know it can be hormonal for sure. But there are other kinds of blues.

If you feel you might be depressed, reach out for support. I do think everything is spiritual. And there can be a spiritual cause for depression or a spiritual component, but I am not a doctor (or psychologist), I am a minister and spiritual advisor. So please reach out to a licensed professional mental health counselor if you feel you may be clinically depressed. Clinical depression goes beyond being sad.

January 12th – Courage, honor, humility, and loyalty

It’s January 12th, 2024; Following along with yesterday’s post and song, we could use more people to “do the right thing.” Now, what IS the right thing? I’ll end today’s post with one thing we can do.

Many brave men and women use their passion for God and country, humanity, family, and friends to drive their courage to act in ways that seem miraculous. They step out of their daily lives to help others. Think of law enforcement, firemen, soldiers, and first responders (I include emergency medical professionals in this lot too). They live the Golden Rule every day–no belief in God required (though, wink! I think it helps).

A song about courage, honor, humility, and loyalty

Here’s the twelfth new music post for 2024 as I strive to consistently get our original songs out to the masses. This is a more generic story song about those who step into harm’s way to do the right thing. I think it is a strong song. A song that talks about the strength and courage brave ones possess.

I think some people may not know how strong others really are because they are humble. A coworker once told me I walked in quiet humility when a superior had said I lacked confidence (and I questioned that). I am pretty damn confident, I just don’t walk around with a big ego. The whole conversation of Ego though, which some say doesn’t exist, is a whole other story. I also recall an old saying, “You gotta watch the quiet ones.” Ha!

When have you been courageous?

I don’t know if I was courageous when Richard experienced a stroke last year or not. I think I felt more helpless than anything. When I prayed though, I got a one-word answer. Trust. Perhaps trusting is touching on courage. What do you think?

I know I have been courageous in the past, during times I cannot even begin to explain. Let’s just say it’s by the grace of God I am still here, alive and kicking, and writing. May we all soar in ’24!

January 10th – Celebrating my birthday

It’s January 10th, 2024; We’re celebrating my birthday and I have a couple of songs for you! the first song, Wonderin‘, was supposed to be included in one of the episodes of the TV show, Ozark. This is the first song Richard and I wrote together (he wrote the music and I wrote the lyrics) when we were dating long distance over 20 years ago! I was in a travel trailer out in Missouri and he was working at the Space Center in Florida. We’d never had a physical date at this point, hence all the wondering I’d been doing. But my daughter said I was already in love with Richard before we even had our first in-person date! Haha!

The second song, Madly in love, is one of several he’s written for me, with loads of photos of me throughout the years (and yes, some that were taken long before we met that he’s always loved). Eye-feasting or whatever! Ha!

Loving relationships

As I explained yesterday, I am Richard’s third wife and he’s my third husband. When I introduced Richard to my parents my mom shrieked, “He’s been married twice before?” And then I calmly told her, “So have I.” Ha! That stopped the judgment right in its tracks. Mom never said any more about it, nor did my dad. They loved Richard though and now, all I choose to dwell on were the words mom said to Richard just prior to her going into her final years of Alzheimer’s disease, “Take care of my baby.” And he has. In turn, I am doing my best for him post-stroke. Just because the body breaks down in later years is no reason for the romance to end, even if all you can do is hug, kiss, and hold hands! We feel that is vitally important too!

Speaking of mom and dad

Even years before my mom passed, my dad would be the first to call me on my birthday and sing, Happy Birthday, to me–and if I didn’t answer the phone, he’d sing it on voicemail. And yes, I still have one of those recordings. I loved my dad’s voice (well, mom’s too, but sadly I don’t have much of mom on those voicemail recordings).

So THIS happened today and I call it my little Wink from the Universe, or in this case of synchronicity, Wink from my dad (he passed in 2019, mom in 2017 their eulogies are linked).

In 2019, Richard took the picture. Patricia McGivern always posts it on Facebook for my birthday! We enjoyed our life-enhancing Sacred Celtic Journey so much!

Cake! Cake! We love the cake! Haha!

I’m having so much fun today, and writing this blog article is part of it. We walked to our local diner for breakfast and then to the grocery store to pick up my free birthday cake. If you are near a Publix store, they will gift you a cake or ice cream on your birthday if you sign up for their loyalty program, which I highly recommend. I’ve been getting their delicious carrot cake every year on my birthday for the last several years.

We don’t eat dessert often, but when we do, we go for the good stuff! And I had to quote one of our favorite lines from the TV show, Little Britain. Always seek to live IN Joy with no guilt or regrets.

January 9th – Leaving a relationship

It’s January 9th, 2024; I’m glad we had fun yesterday as today’s song is all about a woman choosing to leave her relationship and then questioning it, perhaps with regret and guilt–at least it sounds that way to me. What do you think?

Leaving someone you love

What happens when we leave someone we love? Do we tend to look back and ask why? Do we wonder what we did that for? That’s the timeless question expressed in this song. It’s a twist on the old ‘love lost’ or “love ’em and leave ’em” situation with this woman having regrets over leaving.

Here’s the ninth new music post for 2024 as I consistently offer up our originals (music and lyrics by my loving guitarist/bassist and songwriter husband, Richard).

Romantic relationships

I’m Richard’s third wife and he’s my third husband. Richard’s first marriage lasted 16 years and she went on to marry and have children. My first marriage lasted about 7 years (but I knew it wasn’t “good” after the first year–it just took many years for it to end). My two children were the best outcome of that relationship.

I’m telling you this because Richard and I know a LOT about romantic relationships! And how to have a great one! Above all, we respect each other, our beliefs, and our diverse interests. We support each other’s growth too.

Keep your love alive

Richard and I have been married for almost 19 years and have learned from our previous relationships what it takes to stay ‘in love’ every day! We dated for a year and lived together for a year, so after 21 years we know how much kindness and compassion mean to a relationship. We’ve yet to have one argument. Yes, we disagree on some things now and then (but rarely), and we have learned how to give ‘Time’ time and allow each of us the space to breathe, think, and reconsider what’s most important. Perhaps that comes with maturity and keeping a ‘cool head.’ Or perhaps we just appreciate being ‘in love’ more than whatever we might disagree on. We almost never disagree on anything important.

When issues arise it’s because one of us is tired, hungry, emotional over something else, etc. And each of us knows our relationship is what matters most. If one of us feels very strongly about an issue or choice to be made, we sit quietly or do something else for a while until we calm and resolve our own emotions. We take ownership of our own emotional state, underlying programming and conditioning, past experiences, and so on, and don’t “take it out on” the other.
