December 4th – Digital blues

It’s December 4th, 2024; We’ve got a hot new original blues song for ALL today! Digital Blues finds Adam Cunningham again on vocals, singing his heart out! Anyone who has a smart phone or uses a computer, or any technology will enjoy this song.

This is the three-hundred-thirty-sixth new music post for 2024! Initially, Richard wrote the music for this song to use it with other lyrics (smartphone blues) but later rewrote those lyrics to cut a broader path to include all kinds of tech. I love it! Thus, the music track was recorded at Steven Cooper’s music studio in Nashville, TN. Later, we hired Adam for the vocals on the new song, and had the song was remixed at the hard-working Beaird Music Group of Nashville, TN. https://www.beairdmusicgroup.com

Painting the Christmas truck

My daughter and I had a paint night out recently with my eldest granddaughter and I don’t think I shared all the photos of the Christmas truck I painted, so here you go:

Ho Hum

I may just add a few ‘ho hum’ items to a corner of my blogs from time to time. Stuff I see that I don’t want to see. Or things that make you go, hmmm. We’ll just call it the spice or pepper of life. In this case, one of the things we ALL knew would happen though President Biden swore he WOULDN’T do! UGH… for all those people who like to say that President Trump lies, well, here you go! Looks like Biden is a liar too. Aren’t they ALL?

Yes, Everything Happens for a Reason and Everything Resolves to Gratitude. Knowing that each of us (as fractals) uplifts my mind and allows me to view life as a lively kaleidoscope grand design that moves about in an ever-expanding, revolving, melodious, consciousness. Enjoy (IN Joy) everything and love! Be Everything All the Time. Let’s soar in ’24! And let’s (are you ready for this?) THRIVE in ’25! or just be… Alive in ’25.

Painting class

My daughter, Marie, and I went to a paint class the other night, and this was the stencil used for the project. Everyone got the same stencil, but each project was still unique based on how we used it. This was the first time I have painted on wood, and our instructor, the shop’s owner, had to show me how to follow the line of the stencil so the paint wouldn’t run underneath the stencil. She had walked by and noticed my brush strokes. But I was artfully painting. because I wanted to create a woodsy effect with the brush–and I don’t think she realized that. It turned out okay, but when the light hit the letter B, I think of that brush stroke ‘lesson’/correction. Afterwards, I did the first brush stroke following the stencil as she’d shown me, but then I went back over it with a bit more paint to achieve the desired effect on the tree and antlers. I just didn’t think to go back over the letter B. Oh well! There’s no Perfection in art! Ha!

Photo: We painted the whole sheet of wood to create the background. Everyone chose different colors. We arranged the stencil on the wood. Believe handprinted wood sign of mine. Step 1. –Sheila Murrey
Photo: We peeled off the backing of the stencil and stuck it to the wood. We only pressed down around each letter, because we would need to peel it off, leaving the only the letter. Believe handprinted wood sign of mine. Step 2. –Sheila Murrey
Photo: We painted each letter. Black was suggested for most letters with green for the tree, brown for the stump and antlers, and red for the hat (and we had the option to pull the stencil off the top of the hat so we could paint the inside of it, which, I did). Plus, I chose to incorporate my special ‘blue’ to honor my less-than one-day-old sister, Christina (That little blue dot). Believe handprinted wood sign of mine. Step 3. –Sheila Murrey
Photo: Yay! Completion! I got the stencil pulled off and the shop owner helped fix some of the wood that pulled up and off which began to ruin that letter B. Go figure. Ha! Step 4. –Sheila Murrey
Photo: At home, the sign is on the second from the top shelf of our living room bookcase. I’ve moved a few of the crystals around now and brought down some more Christmas figurines, so the next time you see a picture of this, it’ll be different. –Sheila Murrey

What does the word ‘Believe’ mean to you?

There are sooo many ways to interpret the word, ‘Believe’ don’t you think? At its most basic, I see the Christmas sign with the word ‘Believe’ and think of ‘Believe in the magic of Christmas,” or “Believe in the Spirit of Christmas.” But taken further, beliefs are so individual to each of us. Take the following post from Alecia on Facebook:

Facebook post: “Doesn’t feel much like people are allowed to make mistakes anymore.” –Alecia Rice

And my comment I posted in reply to Alecia’s Facebook post:

Screen capture: “Sometimes it’s simply a boundary thing. I’ve let some friends go because they needed to heal. And sometimes I’ve left relationships because I needed to heal. Nobody’s Perfect, you’re right. But a lot of us have ‘perfection’ complexes, savior complexes, etc. etc. I don’t believe in ‘cancel culture’ because I believe we’re all multidimensional people with our own moral ambiguities. I actually embrace moral ambiguity and to me, it keeps us humble, vulnerable, and human. All I can do is hold space for people, and be there for them if they want to talk. I offer a safe place. My mom raised me to be a best friend, and that’s what I strive to be in ALL ways. Oh, and I’m a critical thinker, Truth seeker, and explorer of deep subjects. OM” –Sheila Murrey
Facebook reply from Alecia: “Wise perspective… I have friends across the spectrum of beliefs that I don’t agree with and that’s ok. That’s how I learn about myself and others…” –Alecia Rice and my reply: “ditto… soulie sister…” –Sheila Murrey

“Sun Haiku” Book Launch

December 2nd – Your jeans look good tonight

It’s December 2nd, 2024; We’re mixing it up a bit for you today with a modern country original song. Your jeans look good tonight is sung by the wonderful Angela Hurt. We love the frisky way she sings this! Recorded at the Beaird Music Group of Nashville, TN. https://www.beairdmusicgroup.com

This is the three-hundred-thirty-fifth new music post for 2024! I love two-steppin’ to this rockin’ country song–and I’d love to do it more! I’m hoping to get a local band to play this song, but I guess just my wishin’ won’t make it happen. I’ve got to go knock on some doors!

I collect prayers. I read them, along with a few pages from a variety of Sacred texts whenever I feel I’ve moved too far down the emotional spiral. Here’s the prayer that touched my heart yesterday–the squirrel got my attention and drew me in (my mom loved squirrels). I humbly thank the Blue Collar Theologian for this beauty: https://bluecollartheologian.blog/2024/12/01/december-2024-prayer/

I commented on the prayer post because several lines deeply resonated with me. Here’s a bit of what I commented:

I am going to link to this tomorrow in my daily music blog post because I am writing on ‘Believe.’ And my daily posts have been my self challenge on being consistent too!

Consistency has come to me late in life (I’m 62). Never to late to learn! Never too late for the Lord either! Ha! (My dad got baptized a year before he crossed over. He was 79.)

I’m so grateful to blogger pal, Linda Lewis

Screen capture: Handmade Haven by Linda. An Etsy shop.

I can’t show pictures of everything I ordered yet, because one was a Christmas present for my daughter. But here’s a sampling of the Christmas cards I ordered and the special gift Linda included in my order. I love how every card is unique and that Linda handwrites each card! What a gift of her spirit and time! I also love how she packaged the cards with a bow (that I didn’t have to destroy to remove)!

I am also so thankful for the GIFT of the bookmark that Linda included with my order! I promptly placed it right into the current book I’m reading (nod to another blogger pal, 80smetalman: He Was Weird). I love that with each project that is painted, the multifaceted nature of life means that no two creations are ever exactly the same!

Why I practice and teach, Integrating the Spirals

When I see memes on LinkedIn or other social channels, I typically respond with a brief comment about how I can help anyone going through certain experiences or challenges. See the meme and my reply:

Meme: “The average person feels cheated by the dream they were sold. The schools didn’t prepare them for this. The jobs didn’t give them enough money, time, or security. Since that’s all they were taught, they don’t see any other way to live, so instead of launching into the unknown and figuring it out–which is the origin story of most successful people–they latch onto any distraction, pleasure, or belief that will help them numb the pain.” –Unknown
My comment: And that’s what I do. Teach lessons to expand people’s perspectives. It’s a DE-Program process. Integrating the Spirals. –Sheila Murrey

Stay tuned, tomorrow I’ll show you how this ‘Believe’ sign turned out and what it means to me

December 1st – Call me your lover

It’s December 1st, 2024; We’ve got a grand original rock song for you on this first day of the last month of the year! This song was inspired by Richard’s alter ego many years ago. (I think he wrote this while he was living in Bishop, CA.) Call me your lover is sung by the fabulous Bubba Hudson and recorded at Steven Cooper’s Nashville, TN music studio.

This is the three-hundred-thirty-fourth new music post for 2024! At least a few of the lyrics reminded Richard of our favorite TV show, Game of Thrones. So, Richard created a good many Photoshop images to create a visually-stunning music video from Game of Thrones. Enjoy!

Call me your lover. Music, lyrics, and music video with original Photoshop images by Richard Murrey.

The carrot for me to get Richard to go on the Sacred Celtic Journey with me in 2019, was to get tickets to a Game of Thrones day tour (hike) on our first full day in Ireland. Here’s my post about that: https://sheilamurrey.net/2019/12/03/game-of-thrones-tour-dublin-ireland-winterfell/

No, it really didn’t take me buying us that tour for Richard to go with me. He loved nearly every minute of it, and had wanted to go (sort of at the last minute), after my dad passed away and Richard didn’t want me to ‘go alone.’ I wouldn’t have been alone though. I was going on the Sacred Celtic 13-day Journey with Patricia McGivern and friends from Florida. But someone cancelled and Patricia let us know, so everything just fell into place for Richard to go with me. (For my blogs about that journey, which ended up being my longest vacation ever, read part 1: Ireland, part 2: England, and part 3: Scotland.

Just when you couldn’t believe how talented Richard is…

November 30th – First friends

It’s November 30th, 2024; We’ve got a true story song for you today. I wrote the lyrics and Richard polished for phrasing, then we had Lisa Brokop sing this heartfelt song–Lisa was recently inducted into the British Columbia country music hall of fame. This song also includes soulful saxophone from John Heinrich because the music track was originally recorded at Steven Cooper’s Nashville, TN music studio. The remix was later recorded at the Beaird Music Group of Nashville, TN. https://www.beairdmusicgroup.com

This is the three-hundred-thirty-fifth new music post for 2024! Always “live while you’re living” as the song says. That was a phrase that came to Sheila from her first friend, Joey Duvall. Joey was the inspiration for the song when he passed away in Jan. 2021 after receiving one of the first COVID vaccines in December of 2020. Joey was a nursing supervisor who was continuing his education at the time of his death. He had a flu shot the November prior to receiving the COVID vax that December. And then, just two weeks after that, he crossed over to the Grand Beyond. (Refer to my previous article: https://sheilamurrey.net/2021/10/20/cvid/

Joe’s untimely passing was crushing to me and my longtime friends, April, Carol Lee, and Beverly, who’d all known each other since ages 3 and 4. It’s still emotionally upsetting to write about this, even now. Joe’s obituary: https://www.mariettatimes.com/obituaries/2021/01/joseph-michael-duvall/

I have nurses in my family. And I was named after my mom’s deliver nurse, Sheila. I never wanted to become a nurse, but I often wore my aunts nursing cap when I was a child and she’d stayed with us for a few weeks during her time in nursing school. One of my first cousins, Carol Sue, was a nurse and died of cancer after having her child. Another first cousin, Laurie, was a nurse turned manager and ran several dialysis clinics–driving many distances between them.

I have been surrounded by nurses my whole life. Even the Acupuncture physician who saved my life back in 2005 had been an oncology nurse for 26 years before she went back to school for Acupuncture and became a Doctor of Oriental Medicine because she kept seeing teenage girls come into to the medical practice for breast cancer oncology treatments! She wanted to get to the root cause of why this kept happening. I wrote about Joan’s story in Have Yourself a Wholly Vibrant Life: Reversing Asthma and Other Chronic Illness Naturally.

November 29th – When your love comes back

It’s November 29th, 2024; We’ve got an outrageously hot original song for you today! Adam Cunningham puts so much SOUL in this hot new pop song I can’t stand it! It’s a feast for the ears! The saxophone was from the incredible John Heinrich. The music track was recorded originally at Steven Cooper’s Nashville, TN music studio and then remixed later with Adam’s vocals at the Beaird Music Group of Nashville, TN. https://www.beairdmusicgroup.com

This is the three-hundred-thirty-second new music post for 2024! Always “love the one your with” and be thankful, so you don’t have to wish for you love to come back.

We had a fantastic Thanksgiving yesterday, and trust you did as well. There was no talk of politics, but there was talk of aliens/UFO’s, flat earth, and… dinosaurs! Did you know there’s never been even one full complete dinosaur fossil ever recovered??? I feel so deceived–I’ve loved dinosaurs since I was a wee child! UGH, another ‘historical belief’ shattered! Oh, I’m in tatters. (Haha! To quote a Rolling Stones song.)

Our holiday meal and time together yesterday was beautiful and somewhat international too! My son-in-law made his family’s meat stuffing recipe. His mom told us the story about it and that it’s a French recipe that’s been passed down for generations. It is made with beef, ground pork, and a variety of spices. Our eldest granddaughter, Jenn, and one of the twins, Jewel, both adore it and ate gobs of it! All of the rest of us enjoyed it too. But one of the twins, Jaclyn, pretty much only ate macaroni and cheese for her meal. We watched a bit of the NYC Thanksgiving Day Parade on TV, when did they stop calling it the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade? Hmmm. Richard told us about the years one of his balloon designs, baby Shamu, had been in the parade. Jenn asked, “What is Shamu?” And I explained it was the first baby Killer whale (Orca) born in captivity at Sea World in Orlando, FL. She had no idea and has never been to Sea World.

My FIRST rotisserie turkey–turned out GREAT! Thankfully! And everyone loved the Southern Baked Beans, Holiday bacon, and cornbread. My carrot dump cake (the mix was from Epicure, a Canadian company) turned out to be moist and delicious too, though mostly my daughter and I ate that–none of the others are that keen on pumpkin. But that’s okay. More for us! Haha! The pumpkin pies were good too, especially the one spiked with bourbon. My banana bread (also from an Epicure mix) was a bit dry–I probably should have used three bananas. But I’m eating it soaked in half and half; tomorrow I’ll make French toast out of it. No one really even touched the two cheese balls and crackers, so I’ve got those to munch on the rest of the week too! Here are a few pictures.

The best part of our day, was that our eldest granddaughter got to enjoy the day at home (she usually goes to her dad’s a couple states away for Thanksgiving), and it SNOWED! So, the twins got in their snow gear and ran out to play–and burn off all that sugar from homemade peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies, etc.

The carrot dump cake, pies, banana bread, and cupcakes; Jewel watching BLUEY float in the NYC Thanksgiving Day parade on TV. (The twins love the BLUEY cartoon! Also, they made the Thanksgiving placemats and our son-in-law built/programmed the arcade video gaming system.) –Sheila Murrey
Cookies made by Jenn on ceramic plate made by Marie; cheese balls I brought and plated on fused glass platter Marie made. –Sheila Murrey
The Meiomi wine we brought (one of the things we liked/first learned about while living in Ocala, FL for 8 months–and they sell it here in the grocery store for much less than we paid for it in Florida!); my daughter’s homemade pumpkin beer muffins. –Sheila Murrey
Richard and me with snow falling outside (through window behind us). –Sheila Murrey
Near the end of the twins’ playtime in the snow. We got an inch and a half to two inches of the fluffy white stuff. It sure was pretty! Jaclyn getting ready to come back in the house. –Sheila Murrey
I ended the evening with my favorite Irish Whiskey, Paddy’s and real dairy eggnog. I do this at Christmas too! I was sooo thrilled to find Paddy’s here in New Hampshire. No store had it in Florida (I looked!) after I discovered my taste for it when we went to Ireland in 2019. It’s not even a top shelf whiskey, but there’s just something about it that I liked, and we tasted several in Ireland. I had a few favorite scotches while in Scotland. I’m not a big drinker, but I am keen on the flavor of some for special occasions. –Sheila Murrey
