I will always be grateful for Rick Davies. Supertramp has been one of my favorite bands since I was a teenager.

Goodbye Stranger and the Logical Song are perhaps my two favorite songs from them, though I can play whole albums and enjoy all the songs as well.

I do hope Roger is doing good.

I’m encouraging those “over 60” to open to lifelong learning (observe and gently question their pre-conceived beliefs, aka ‘Programming’), become more aware of their thoughts and emotions, consistently move their bodies (too many are stuck in their heads and physically unhealthy), become strong, and resilient in spirit, soul, mind, body. And to question EVERYTHING!

  3. Supertramp takes me right back, Sheila. I must have played the Breakfast in America album on my old cassette player until the poor tape finally said, ‘That’s enough!’
    Those songs never wore out for me though. Grateful for the music, and grateful for your thoughtful post.🙏

      1. Haha yes, this was way back! I still have a few lying around too… purely as evidence for the younger generation that such ancient technology really did exist. The look on their faces is priceless. 😄

  6. So heartbreaking to hear this news. Another legend gone too soon. I heard about it yesterday, and it’s just so sad. Supertramp’s music will always live on, but it feels like we’re left with so much of the noise they call “music” nowadays.

  9. I think I have a Supertramp ‘Best of’ vinyl album. I did love their melodies and musical style back then. But haven’t heard anything in earnest for decades. I suppose that specific era would be a fascinating dive into again. So many great bands. You always seem to know a fair bit of decent music from around that time too. Cheers Sheila.

      1. I will have to try pinpoint it among them all. They are all stuck under the stairs presently. Difficult to get at. I know there are some great albums under there too. Odd stuff it would be good to hear again.

        Maybe your taste has changed too. Mine certainly has. Newer music has given some great finds. Both bands and their catalogues of songs and some unique individual songs too.

      2. I hear you, Gray. Yes, my musical tastes have changed some, mostly because of what I have learned about the music industry and some of the persons involved. For instance, I used to own every one of Madonna’s albums. Not anymore! Ha!

        I took ballet as a child and love the classics. I listen to a bit more jazz and reggae now, and even (gasp!), rap! Especially, love Imagine Dragons (been listening to them for a couple years now) and Tom MacDonald most recently. We own every Adele album. I also fell in love with Celtic Woman when they came out, but after some casting changes, not as much. Friends introduced us to their show on PBS way before we even thought of visiting Ireland, England, and Scotland for me to see rocks! Ha!

      3. The music industry is sinister. You need good people around you to protect interests. Eclectic musical taste is a fantastic way to enjoy music for music’s sake. My Dad loves Celtic Woman. Listens to them often. I never really enjoy that style though.
