Email blitz

Yesterday I began going through my incoming emails and unsubscribing from many sales/business sites that I am no longer interested in, unable to attend in person sessions of, or what not. I didn’t feel it was honest of me to stay on someone’s list if I wasn’t fully interested. It’s a waste of my time and theirs–even if I’m friends with the person, and maybe because I am friendly with the person! But of course, one of my friends texted me that she was “hugely disappointed” that I’d unsubscribed from her email list. UGH (You just can’t win with some people. At least now I know she’s got an issue with “taking things personally” as I have–and something I came into this life to resolve. And of course, I wrote her back explaining why I unsubscribed and to wish her many blessings! We’re still connected on Facebook and have each other’s phone numbers, proven by the text).

Book club

Yesterday was also a book club day for me. In the Theosophy group, of which I have been a part for many years, we are reading, Ancient Wisdom for a New Age. And we finished Chapter 12 where the author talks about NOT delving into channeling/mediumship. I found the pages on this topic fascinating since H. P. Blavatsky received spiritual guidance and wisdom from The Grand Beyond. Perhaps the point was that we need to be discerning when it comes to the spirit world. The author was of the belief that it could be very dangerous to allow some unknown entity to take over our physical body for any certain amount of time when we didn’t know anything about the entity! And there are many examples of channels and mediums dying prematurely!

I will say those pages brought up some great discussion in the group as several of us receive divine communication, whether it be from the Holy Spirit, guardian angels, or spirit guides. We agreed with the book though that one needs to be pure of intent and ego-less, when seeking such communication. This morning, while washing dishes, I had a thought drop in that it’s the charging money for such activities (as channeling and mediumship) where one might get into trouble as we’re always (in ALL ways) filtering the incoming messages through our own personal ‘lens’ and filter. Thus, the information is probably only for us, and when we give it to someone else, it’s got a film of ‘us’ on it and may not actually be FOR them.

I did bring up the issue of Aphantasia to the group and none were aware of it! I was surprised as I think I’m the youngest in our group–and yes, I know Aphantasia is rare. But the group all said they thought anyone who cannot visualize in the mind just needed more practice! Isn’t it amazing how we can have an opinion on something we know nothing about! Ha! I invited them to look it up. When Gray Summers and I first discussed Aphantasia I’d never heard of it either, but when I looked it up I read that it’s been a known phenomenon (though not widely studied) since 1880!

  3. Thank you for expanding the Aphantasia subject Sheila. I read mostly about others’ experiences now and not what Aphantasia actually is. Recently read of a lady who described, as I have, total darkness behind closed eyes, and also loss of recreating other senses within the mind. For example. The smell of lavender, the taste of strawberries, how the Beatles sang with recall of the sound of their voices on Let it Be. I don’t understand at all if the mind can recall taste of food or the smell of a favourite aftershave without it being present. I have had patients say they can smell smoke, etc. without it being present at all. Or the phrase ‘scones with butter, jam and clotted cream makes my mouth water just thinking about it’. Really! Does that mean you can ‘mind’ taste a food. Or is it just an expression. Sounds extremely weird.

    And on the Aphantasia ‘scale’ you can now see in cartoon picture form on Google images of the heads with how Aphantasia can be at different levels. Mine is nothing at all. Not even a smidgeon of a dot, a line, a single colour……..nothing. Completely dark. And that leads to having an extremely bad memory of past events. No recall you see other than the knowledge it did happen. No visual recall of the birth of my children, getting married, etc. Or imagining how future events may turn out.

    So, once again, thank you for speaking about the condition. Much appreciated Sheila.

    1. Sure, Gray. And Jesus, are you psychic or something?!? I smell smoke often when there’s NO SMOKE anywhere around!!! I actually thought my brain was on fire the first few times!!! Haha!
      and it on only started happening AFTER my cousin Greg passed away. He smoked and my psychic friend said he was coming around to visit me!

      Of course, I don’t know. But Richard has fun with me when I say Greg’s name aloud and ask what’s going on! He loved music ALL minds so I just start singing!

      He was the one who died in the hospital after whipple surgery (I wrote a post to honor him), and then not even 6 months later his younger brother was shot in Myrtle Beach SC on the last night of his vacation—and Josh smoked too, and yes, the smoke smell came back again several more times to me! I also wrote posts about Josh because the asshole (sorry I rarely say this), is still out on $8500 bond, walking around FREE 2 years after killing Josh and still no trial!!!

      And not that I harbor on the past but it all got opened up again when that former manager of mine said what he said on LinkedIn to me, “if you think the criminal justice system is broken…” Grrr!

      Gotta go do my own processes again to calm down. Everything happens for a reason—I got more crap to clear out of me on that topic I guess!

      1. Quite a lot to deal with from past happenings Sheila. Frustration and emotional impacts too. No. I’m not psychic…….or telepathic either. I am currently looking periodically at people’s own experiences concerning their lack of a mind’s eye. Simply out of interest. I have lived with it all my life. So am just used to getting along with life as I have always done. Cheers Sheila. All the best.

      3. Yes I do dream at night. But have no ability to recall the imagery once awake. So no full memory exists of the content. Little tiny memory story events with nothing to bring them back to life. Hope that makes sense. Thank you Sheila.

      4. Ah, yes, it does make sense, Gray. Is Aphantasia linked to memory centers in the brain? Because it almost seems akin to watching a movie but then not being able to recall it once it’s over. Or at least not being able to recall images from though you remember the story arc.

  4. A very good pop/rock song! Yea I had to unsubscribe from a lot of vendors at work because out of every 100 emails I get maybe 4 that are relevant to me.

I’ll have one of mine coming up in a couple of months…My son is majoring in Video Communications and getting his masters…he looked bored one day so I asked him to make a video to one of my songs…he did…now he is editing it and the song will have to be mixed in. It will be around October or November.

      2. That’s incredibly exciting! Keep us in mind, or tell him to keep us in mind. We just watched an AI movie and I think if someone had that software they could make a ton of music videos for cheap! Well, okay I know it may not be cheap but I have to think it would be less expensive than a studio would charge!
