After Tuesday night Reiki circle: Feb 21

Driving home from Reiki circle tonight. Tonight’s circle is a free Tuesday night healing session.

Each week we discuss one subject

Every time we sit in a circle and each time there’s a specific topic.

Spiral thought: I love to record (while driving) obviously for my blog but for myself even too. So I remember and I kind of go ahead and imprint that into the cells of my body, the subject that we spoke about.

So the subject tonight was spirituality. Huge subject I know and one that of course, I can ‘spiral thought‘ about it in all kinds of ways I don’t even recall exactly what I said. Because when we had our turn to speak about what the word meant to us, we introduced ourselves first, and then we could mention why we were there or how we came to be in the circle. And how we met our Reiki master Victoria, or anything else we want to share, and then talk about what the word means to us. Well, tonight, of course, the word is spirituality. I didn’t want to have any preconceived notions on what to say.

Spiral

Probably had I given it very much thought I would have said the spiral symbolizes spirituality for me especially now after 2019 and coming to know more about the petroglyphs, markings, and engravings on the walls of the ancient burial temple/burial chamber of Newgrange but also the rocks, giant boulders–the huge neolithic stones of Newgrange and Knowth.

So, the spiral is one of the most ancient symbols and to me, the word spiral is encased and enshrined in the words spirit and spirituality. I know that that’s where they take spires from as well and there’s usually always a spire on top of a cathedral or a church, a house of worship. So there’s that.

When I say spiral thoughts about spirituality, I can go off in many different directions with it. Its spirituality can be a belief system. A way of life. It’s how you interact with what’s external to you. So you may believe this idea that we’re spirit and we’re clothed or wrapped in human tissue. We’re Spirit coming to earth to live and experience life in this earthly body or vessel or temple. And so we’re constantly aware of our environment and surroundings. We’re aware of nature. We’re open to nature. And I know that I spoke about being open which was one of a part of my answer about what I think spirituality is. Or how do I view that turn spirituality it’s also about learning and growing and practicing, because I can read about something all day long, but if I never bring it in, if I don’t open to it and allow it to come into me, and become intimate with it and integrate it into my physicality. I’m not experiencing it. And so to do that, for me, it becomes a practice or it needs to become a practice.

An example, breathwork

So breathwork is an example. Spirit is breath. Breath is Spirit. This is the ether that surrounds us all. It’s like if you were fish, the water would be what surrounds you, but we’re, we’re air-breathing creatures, mammals. So the air is our ether. It’s what surrounds us. So we’re breathing spirit in with every breath. And then as we exhale, we’re exhaling chemically something different compounds, you know, breathing in oxygen, nitrogen we’re breathing out carbon dioxide. So technically what we’re breathing in is different than what we’re breathing out. And just remember from elementary school that trees were the opposite. They would breathe in, what we breathe out, and then they would give us or add to the oxygen in our environment.

Symbiotic nature

So we’ve got this symbiotic nature. Sadhguru says that trees are the other half of our lungs. For that very reason. Right? So I breathe in. What the tree breathes out, the tree breathes then when I breathe out, pretty cool. So we’re interacting, or we’re the yin and yang. with nature. And specifically trees in my example, but you know, it can be any living thing and I believe even the rocks are living. Because I’ve experienced a real I’ve had relationship with various rocks and stones crystals. So it’s not just the things that have a pulse that is alive. Or the things like trees that have Sapt running through them.

So it’s not just about blood, water, a liquid something inside of something that makes it alive. But I do think there’s a consciousness involved in all living things. I don’t think my opinion is that if something isn’t alive, there’s no consciousness. So I know part of my answer tonight was expanding consciousness.

If we are alive, and we’re always in this interactive dance spirit, by the act of breathing, then spirituality is us becoming conscious and aware of the dance of the symbiotic relationship. So we can keep this minimal or we can go as deep with this as you want. But I would be curious about what you write in the comments. What your idea of spirituality is, you know, is it a philosophy? Is it a practice? Is it awareness? Is it consciousness? Do you agree that yeah, we can decide to close off from it if we want to, you know, out of fear some people do?

Let’s say when you’re a child, and you’re scared of the dark at night, and the monster in the closet, that kind of thing, the monster under the bed, you know, there’s still adults that won’t sleep with because I’ve had this experience myself where as an adult, I wouldn’t sleep with my hand overhanging over the edge of the bed. I mean, that just seems like such a silly fear to have. But there’s still some element to something being under the bed. I mean, the stuff of scary movies, right?

Fear is in the mind

I don’t know why it’s almost like as a human, we have to, if we’re not scared of things where we don’t have fear, then we go about doing things to create it. And so whether that’s an action of the mind so that there’s always the yin and yang there’s always the push-pull. There’s always contrast in our mind to keep the brain working and alive. I don’t know. But it wouldn’t surprise me because it seems like a lot of times we make up unfounded fears, just to keep ourselves on our toes, and to keep our senses or to keep ourselves challenged.

Spirituality

I’ll come back around to Spirituality. When we are with a group of people agree with, ah! What a feeling! We agree that spirituality is more than religion. It transcends religion. You don’t need religion as an organization of thought, or structure or ritual, ritualistic practices, certain dates on the calendar, things like that, which puts structure around spirituality. But spirituality in and of itself is just like the act of breathing. It’s just there. It’s always there. In hours of meditation I learned that spirit was all there was at the beginning of time at the beginning of creation. It is said if you have a void and then you have something created within the void, I mean, the void by definition is void. So how can matter exist in it? Just popping into existence in a void doesn’t happen scientifically anyway, so they say well, it was the spirit, spirit input, a spirit entered the void.

Spirit put the first matter into that space, which is the dot. You know, there was the one, and the one split and became two, and then the two forms and there were three. It’s like the first cell. When the first cell split and then create from the two, they create the third and so on.

Yeah, like I said, I can have spiral thoughts about spirituality because I see it as internal breathing in, so I’m internalizing spirit. I am spirit. And then I am externalizing spirit, by my growth, by my awareness of witnessing my growth and also being committed to a series of practices that exemplify or that display. My spirituality might be putting my hands in prayer position, lighting a candle, saying a prayer, singing a praise song. Performing an act of kindness, random act of kindness, or giving, donating something, tithing. You know, all those are outward gestures of the inner spiritual belief system and the inner spirituality. I mean, I can have a belief system all day long, but if I don’t believe in my belief system, and I don’t act from it, then I’m not you know, portraying or displaying my spirituality, right? So my spirituality might be completely different than what my religion is, or, you know, the tactics that one says that I’m supposed to use to be quote-unquote, “be good,” whatever the religion is, you know, a good Catholic, a good Christian, Muslim a good Buddhist whatever, right?

In closing

So I thought I’d share this tonight with you and get some feedback from you and see what your thoughts are about it and open this can of worms I know that I’ve written a lot about omniscience before about God about different religions that I do or don’t agree with. So spirituality is much more free-flowing. Yes, we shall say free flowing and just like the breath, there’s an ebb and a flow to it. And you can observe it or you can choose to run from it and hide from it. if it’s something that you fear. Just like the sun, it’s always there. we just may have our back turned toward it. And as the Earth vows to the sun eastward, I bow to the east, every morning and give thanks for the sun for you and our connectedness.

And with that, I will close. Much love, many blessings, and always Peace.

Integration Diet

Integration Diet

Intro

Right from the start, let me tell you that I’ve been gently releasing the excess weight I’d gained during the COVID lockdown, by eating all different kinds of foods and challenging my former thoughts about what foods I should eat. It has really surprised me! And those “surprises” challenged me to analyze what was going on and how I could sustain ongoing weight loss (as I’d been overweight, technically obese), BEFORE the lockdowns.

Food History

I’d lost 20 pounds during 2019 with the help of a modified Keto diet as suggested by my chiropractor, restricting certain foods, and dining out less, (and scrutinizing food ingredients when we did go out). Mostly, I went out to socialize with my husband and not even eat a meal. I had taken a lot of supplements too, to help balance my hormones. But during the summer of 2020, I regained those 20 pounds (mostly due to COVID lockdown depression).

When I say I am not unfamiliar with diets, it’s true. I’ve done so many different diets over the course of twenty years, it’s not funny. It’s actually kinda sad. I didn’t even learn (throughout all of the time I spent on various diets), how to tell when I was hungry—until I was ravenous (belly gurgling with hunger pangs)! I learned the particular diet, but I didn’t align my MIND-BODY, and integrate these aspects and LISTEN to my body and analyze what changes I needed to make in order to experience RESULTS. (I am in alignment, Now.)

So, what I’m about to share may shock you. It has, and continues to shock me!

Food List

Here’s a list of some of the foods I’ve eaten and seen the number on the scale DROP the next morning, foods I wouldn’t have eaten a year ago:

  • Steak
  • Barbecue sauce (I found one brand that works for me. Yes, ONE.)
  • Cheese (I found a couple types that work for me.)
  • Half and half
  • Canned soup (I drink an extra cup of water after to help flush out excess salt.)
  • Rice (rinsed very well before cooking)
  • Soy sauce (always thought it was a no-no)
  • Pasta (egg or veggie noodles)
  • Potatoes (even tater tots, and potato chips! Gasp! Small portion, but yes. Shocking!)
  • Dark Chocolate (small portion, on a fancy plate)
  • Margaritas (homemade, no sugary mixer)
  • Red wine (limited to 8 ounces a night, though depending on my meal, I’ve had more)
  • Universal Yums (a monthly subscription of snacks from around the world-tiny servings—added this because we’re foodies and love trying new foods from other countries! Since we can’t travel currently, this monthly fun box supports our mental health and Connects us ALL.)

Tracking

What started it all? I credit a pillar of my weight loss success to the Omada program (that was offered to me by my health insurance program: Florida Blue), because they sent me a free scale that communicates back to their app and diet coach, via blue tooth technology (so, I am held accountable). Accountability is KEY!

I weigh in every morning, nude, and before drinking any water and after going to the restroom. I’ve also integrated this into my morning meditation ritual which includes a brief gratitude ritual (along with some Yoga postures and Energy building Qigong activity) to release any gas in my body, strengthen my immune system, and release stress. And this was the impetus for developing Integrated Spiral!

Tying these activities together has been a huge advance in my ability to stick with the weigh ins and track my journey. In the first three months, I released 15 pounds, but UPDATE: By March 24, 2021 I lost a total of 32 pounds (which included another 17 pounds lost during my time of participating in a 7 week Herbal Detox with KP Khalsa and The Sacred Science)!

I’ve communicated with my coach on the days I gained a pound or so, and worked through the mental hoops and associated feelings. I’ve also incorporated small celebratory actions that do not involve food, as a new way to thank my body for following through on my desire to lose weight.

The Omada program also came with an app, which has helped me focus on the size and health of my meals, rather than the calories of the food (as I’d tracked before in the LoseIt! app). Now, I watch for the trends of how many veggies I’m eating in a week, and what I’ve eaten the day before I see the number go up or down on the scale. It’s a pretty cool bio feedback loop and is definitely working for me.

NOTE: If you’re not in the Omada program, you can still do the weight loss portion of my Integrated Spiral program, because I have found even better blue tooth scales that measure 17 health markers! I’m gonna get one if and when my Omada scale fails. 😉

Supplements

Aside from the liquid supplement that both my husband and I consume daily, when we moved off grid, I pretty much quit taking any other supplements, except Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Zinc, and Magnesium. But when I first stepped on the Omada scale and saw how much I had gained from February to September, I started looking into anything and everything I could take to support my weight loss journey. For the first time in a long time, I felt desperate.

I tried a few supplements and I could tell what didn’t work by how I felt and that I’d gain ounces the day or so after taking them. I think my body is so sensitive, that I gain a bit of weight anytime I introduce something new to it. That’s a theory I am tracking via my food and weight log (which, circles back to why tracking is sooo important)!

There are few supplements (weight loss aids) that have helped me, and I’ll be writing reviews on those products on Being Wholly Vibrant.

I’m not including any supplements in my Integration Diet per se, because I don’t want you to feel that you have to take certain supplements in order to participate in this program. Take It Upon Yourself, as I always say, to do what works best for you. Plus, I’m attempting to keep all product reviews on my other blog. 🧐

Portions and measuring

I’ve found that my 1/2 C measuring cup has become my best friend in the kitchen. I scoop out chili and soup with it, and measure rice and pasta with it too. If I am in doubt, I measure. And I don’t just “trust” my eyes and brain with that “eyeball” method of measuring food, because that has been known to fail me.

The limit I set for myself on these kinds of foods is 1 C at a time. If for some reason I absolutely find that I need or want more, I go back for 1/2 C more. But, in three months, that’s only happened twice.

You gotta serve somebody. Just include yourSelf!

Timing

One trend I’ve noticed is that when I stop eating anything by 6pm, the number on the scale goes down the next morning.

I’m a big fan of intermittent fasting, but for it to work for me, I’ve observed that I need to go to bed on an empty stomach. I’ve tried all the other ways to do intermittent fasting, and no other combination works for me except going to be feeling hunger pangs. (This became less and less the longer I stayed committed to this program.) For me to practice intermittent fasting long term, well, it takes a real commitment and mindset. I’ve haven’t always been successful, but somehow, I feel this time, I will reach my ultimate goal weight.

Another trend I’ve noticed is that if I abstain from night time snacking, I can eat the same snack midday the next day (after lunch), and it doesn’t make the numbers on the scale go up, like it would have done, had I consumed it at 9pm. Weird, but that’s what I’ve observed as true for my body.

Creating the habit

All of this has been about helping me establish good habits that I can maintain for life. I know walking daily, or not, is a choice.

And honestly, the number on the scale has gone down on the morning after I didn’t walk and I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s because I need to rest and allow my body time to repair and reduce the inflammation that came from my walking the day before. I don’t know. I’m continuing to monitor that.

Clearing the static from our Energy Body.

Sustaining habits or subconscious practice

So far, I’ve had the best outcome from tying two or more tasks or practices together. This is why I formed my Integrated Spiral transformational, small group, self-coaching program.

I know in order for me to make the commitment to a healthy, whole, and vibrant body means I must be held accountable. By serving others, I will serve myself. And in Bob Dylan’s famous words, “You gotta serve somebody.”

I know spiritual types that aren’t in touch with their bodies. And I know body conscious types who want to learn more about Spirituality. I think (and feel), I can serve both.

Is God Real?

Is God Real?

For many of us, WE wouldn’t even pose this question. And yes, I do draw a distinction between “real” and “exists,” such as if I were to ask, “Does God exist?”—a similar, yet different question.

WE undeniably KNOW God is—but, is the isness real (as in physical matter), or spirit?

Those who know God is Real don’t just believe, but came to this knowing through experiencing God, via our senses, by way of esoteric phenomena that we can only attribute to God.

I believe atheists and doubters have asked either or both questions at some point in their lives, because everyone experiences some things that they can’t explain.

I’m not here to change an unbelievers mind, but I would like to present a slice of my reasoning for believing the answer to both questions is YES.

Defining Reality

Any good survey starts by providing definitions. So, let’s examine my previous articles to provide my thoughts on the definition of “Reality.”

https://sheilamurrey.net/2012/09/16/are-we-real/

https://sheilamurrey.net/2014/06/01/reality-is-only-what-we-perceive/

And as interesting as it is to attempt to define Reality it is even more thrilling to ponder a definition of the undefinable enigma, God.

God, Omniscience

I have been sharing my innermost thoughts about God, Omniscience, for several years (since my first audible experience in 2005). Links to my previous articles follow:

Hearing from God

In the article, Research Is Shedding New Light on Hearing Voices, the author writes that William James, who established the first experimental psychology laboratory in America at Harvard, concluded:

God is real in the reality of the impacts on those open to the possibility. Considering whether or not to choose such openness, James decided that it is more beneficial to act as if there is a transcendent that gives an ultimate meaning to life.

William James, Philosopher and Psychologist—Father of American psychology.

Granted, not all believers in God claim to have heard God’s voice, such as Neale Donald Walsch, author of the series of Conversations with God books. Nevertheless, most believers do credit God with healings and a variety of phenomenon (such as synchronicities) that cannot otherwise be explained.

My friend and fellow spiritual author, Elliott Eli Jackson also writes of conversations with God in his series of The Sapiential Discourses books.

Sacred Sites

This is a huge topic, and one that I have written about before, so I won’t go into it all again, except to provide a list to my previous articles and say that I continue to reap energetic benefits from the time I spent at Newgrange in County Meath, Glendalough, Ireland, Stonehenge in England, and multiple sites in Scotland, especially on the grounds of Rosslyn Chapel and castle, Isle of Skye, and the Faerie Glen.

Meditating inside the stone circle at Stonehenge.

Right from the beginning of our trip, while “playing” and seemingly “having fun,” I was opening and picking up clues of what would come. https://sheilamurrey.net/2019/12/03/game-of-thrones-tour-dublin-ireland-winterfell/

Life After Death

As you may recall, I wrote an article, https://sheilamurrey.net/2019/04/19/a-surreal-vision-of-soul-departing/ after my dad died (crossed over to the Grand Beyond), which was quite the profound experience. That surreal experience, as well as others regarding my still born sister, Christina (link in the section: Metaphysical Experiences), lend to my knowing of Life After Death, and add to my beliefs of Omniscience (my name for the unknowable Dao, or God).

Friend, film producer, co-founder of the Spiritual Cinema Circle, and author, Stephen Simon has now, published a book with his beloved wife Lauren (who crossed over to the Grand Beyond in her sleep). I am so thrilled their book, What Dreams Have Come: Loving Through The Veil, is available on Amazon.

Update: The Kindle version is available! I have read it and have a book review in process! Love it!

What Dreams Have Come book cover

Also from the same Psychology Today article,

Studies with non-clinical populations have suggested that people are especially likely to hear hallucinatory voices during times of loss or bereavement. In one study, 30% reported hearing the voice of their deceased loved one within the first month of their death, and 6% still heard them a year later. In another study, 13% of persons heard the voice of their deceased spouse, including some who had been widowed up to 40 years prior to being interviewed.

Metaphysical Experiences

To date, thanks to the metaphysical experiences I’ve had, I have learned that we’re never alone. This knowing gives me eternal peace. The following articles offer a glimpse of the experiences I’ve had:

Turning towards Spirituality

Because I just can’t put all my trust and faith in any ONE person, concept, or teaching anymore, I have turned towards Spirit to lead and guide me.

I consider all I have learned up to this point in my life, as guideposts. Like training wheels help a child learn to ride a bicycle with proficiency and under self locomotion, that is how I view all religious instruction. Good for a time, but once you’re strong and steady in your knowing, and you have fully integrated Spirit, God, Source, Divine Essence, live the Dao, accepted the garment of the Christ, etc. you’re walking your path.

In closing, for now

In closing, for now: ALL of this leads me to more study and live more in tune with nature, as I see Omniscience EVERYWHERE. I am strong and steady in my walk. ❤️🦋🌀

Be as water. Seek your own level.

Be as water. Seek your own level.

I am an independent person (and critical thinker) who beat co-dependency. I have learned that I cannot control anyone else, nor do I need to. I only ever need to manage my own Energy.

I have figured out a way to find balance and eternal Gratitude in ALL. There really is value in Everything.

Be as receptive as I / we / you can be. There’s no need to push against anything!

I sense that everything in life comes down to Balance. And that can be achieved. It is doable. Fix everything—no. But feel better, feel good more of the time—yes. Help yourself. Help others. Love. Smile.

Be as water. Seek your own level.

Be one who predominantly appreciates and loves.

If someone says or does something that upsets you, it’s okay if you don’t know or say the right thing “in the moment.” After all, you don’t have a staff of writers at your beck and call. And nobody’s perfect.

Just breathe and take a moment to ground and recenter yourself. Take a moment to feel freedom and peace within and outside of yourSelf. Balance.

In my experience, people either speak from their ego or their programming most of the time. It’s rare to talk with someone soul to soul, and priceless when you do! ❤️🦋🌀

My mission and mantra

I’ve read again my previous articles here and here and redefine my mission as follows:

In every moment, while BEing my deep, authentic self, acknowledging and integrating Source Energy (Spirit) in ALL I do, I release Ego and judgmental thoughts and hold true to my “GodBumps,” (as my physical guide, to remember “to thine own temple be true”), I will seek to awaken, and connect independent souls to their limitless talents and potential. I will empower them to shine their brilliance no matter what challenges come their way. ❤️🦋🌀🙏☀️🌱

On feeling the need for Protection

No protection required.

What is “Protection” about anyway?

It acknowledges (and often promotes) that there is anything or something “out there” to fear. And I want to “fear not.” I believe in a friendly universe. And Omniscience has my back anyway.❤️🦋🌀🙏😉☀️🌱🎼

On feeling down

Whenever I am feeling low, or in a down state, I reach for “a better feeling thought”, typically one of the enveloping Omniscience that exists in and through ALL (that immediately dissolves BS, whether it be from others, or of my own making), or that Everything Resolves to Gratitude. Then I say aloud, Thank You. I see it all as the Universe bringing ALL back into Balance. Lessons learned and healed. ❤️🦋🌀😘

Present moment

Why live in the present moment?

  • To feel freer
  • Audaciously awaken
  • Fully engage my authenticity
  • Function from a positive or neutral place
  • Open to new awareness
  • Balance any imbalances
  • Embrace limitless possibilities
  • Empower mySelf and others
  • Love and nurture my independence
  • Be open to receive MORE out of life
  • Worry less
  • Fear less
  • Notice ALL of the abundance around
  • Focus on the far-reaching effects
  • Release old programming
  • Ease out of old unwanted habits
  • Connect MORE
  • Commune deeply
  • Communicate with MORE clarity

Our minds tend to get convoluted and play tricks on us. Sometimes referred to as the “monkey mind”, our individual minds often skew our reality according to the “old tapes” (phrases) that play over and over in our heads, fears, conditioning, past traumas, invalid prejudices, opinions that belong to others—not our own, beliefs that no longer serve our highest and best version of ourselves.

When you are aware your mind is filtering your reality based on the past, you can change it with that awareness. In fact, awareness is the change.

I never understood “worry.” I’m too independent and determined for that. ❤️🦋🌀

COVID-19

I thought you couldn’t believe in things you can’t see? This virus has expanded your thoughts about the unseen things, hasn’t it? Now, do you understand the phrase, We Are All Connected?

So much love… to you, through, and around you…I feel it too (though not as severe as you experienced yesterday, but who knows. Maybe my time is coming. And now, thanks to you, I will know more). So, for me, it is all the other changes we’ve been going through, plus when I go to the store, I see many empty sections: no eggs, less vitamins, no rubbing alcohol (wanted for bug bites, not for hand sanitizer recipe), etc. I had to really force my conscious mind to notice the fresh produce, and canned goods, water, and so forth. It is all so weird. I am quite a mix of energies at the moment.❤️🦋🌀

On death

I feel into this and it aligns and resonates for me. After losing (in the physical), both of my parents in the last couple years, and having beautiful visions from both of what they experienced during/after their souls departed, I no longer see death as any kind of end. I’ve never feared death, though I used to cry a suffer through grief when anyone close to me died-especially pets. But, after seeing all I have seen, some of which is on my blog, I do not grieve anymore.
All we need to do is love and keep our intentions pure, always helpful, always kind. Because in the end, Everything Resolves to Gratitude.
Amen and Namaste. OM ❤️🦋🌀🙏

Mirror neurons and Soul-connections

I learned long ago that we cannot change another person. The habits they have and their personal characteristics are held deep within themselves—they may hide certain habits to win you over too. But, what they showed, that attracted you to them. For example, in the beginning of the relationship if they cursed a lot, you thought it was funny or cute. Ten years later, when your significant other curses, it annoys you. Really, that is your issue. You’ve changed. They haven’t.

After a year of dating, another year of cohabitating, and then five years of marriage, my mirror neurons synchronized with my husband’s mirror neurons. It took a job loss, our two doggies getting older and slowing down, and my proving to him that we couldn’t pay for our house (that at the time we had 25 years left on our mortgage), to get him to come around to the idea of full-time RV living. But, two weeks after we had moved into our 5th wheel—and I am NOT KIDDING—he sat across the living room from me and said, “I love this! We own this? Why didn’t you MAKE me do this YEARS ago?” Hahahaha
I about fell out of my chair!!! I don’t MAKE him, or anyone, DO anything!❤️🦋🌀🌱🤩😉

From the sacred texts

“We can escape this world by giving up attack (negative / social conditioning) thoughts.”

—A Course in Miracles.

“Be in the world, not of it.” —Holy Bible.

“Ye are of this world. I am not of this world.” —Quron

Daoist thought has been interpreted within the Dao De Jing (and Zhuangzi) to reject, or become unattached to ones body and the material world.

And we find the Hindu words that seem to point out a need to find receptivity or be alert to:

“…that which is not of this world.” —Veda

Amen, brother. Awomen, sister. We know our LIMITLESS, Ever-Living, Filling-ALL-Space, Creator, Source, Omnipresent, Omniscient, Omnipotent, God!!! Namaste. OM ❤️🦋🌀

Put your hands together when you meditate and pray. (It connects the circuits.) 🙏

Soul Connections

I LOVE talking with others about deep topics, God, Spirit, visions, dreams… ❤️🦋🌀

I connect with so many people and on such a wide range of topics, that I am never lonely. I feel we all have the ability to connect on a soul level.

I am passionate about connecting you (We Are All Connected) to NON-TOXIC, “It can’t hurt you” foods (like raw vegan foods), health products and holistic methods that I personally use (see this and this) because they truly work—they nourish us—and my knowing (from a deep spiritual place) is that we’re all okay in our well-being.

We are—each of us—wholly well WHEN we remind each other, which is why there’s not only one of us here on the planet! We are each a fractal of Omniscience and bright shining as the sun. ❤️🦋🌀🙏☯️🍀🌹

Loneliness

What’s the difference between being Alone and being Lonely?
I always knew there was a reason I loved that old song, “Love the one you’re with.”
I’ve learned not to put anyone on a pedestal. Actually, I have had to learn that more than a few times.
And as others here have said, family isn’t always defined by blood.
Spending time with and being present with those you love is the best gift any of us can give/receive. And if you don’t have anyone, go find someone new. After all, there are 7 billion people on the planet. No one needs to be alone.
Oh, and loneliness is not a lack of people, but a lack of purpose.
And all of that wisdom cost me a lot more than two cents!❤️🦋🌀🎄🎁💫

About the Winter Solstice

Until recently, I didn’t know a whole lot about the Solstices.

Previously published on The Wellness Universe, December 20, 2019

Except that many years ago, I had been told by a particular religious group that the Christmas holiday was celebrated at about the same time that Pagans celebrated the Winter Solstice. I knew that astronomically-speaking, the Winter Solstice was the shortest day, (a day with the least daylight), that we experience during a year. So if this is your first dive into the topic, you’re not alone.

When is the Winter Solstice?

In the northern hemisphere, the Winter Solstice occurs from about December 18th to the 25th; depending upon the year. Most people acknowledge the Winter Solstice only on December 21st or December 22nd. At the prehistoric sacred site of Newgrange in Ireland, the sunrise Winter Solstice will be observed and celebrated between the dates of December 18th to the 23rd, 2019.

Since many people from around the world revere the Winter Solstice as a deeply spiritual time, that reason alone makes it an interesting topic to understand. We all know how fractional religious matters can be. Yet, Spirit seeks to unify the fragmented parts of the whole.

Different Views

Some think the Winter Solstice is a time of connection, quiet reflection, and profound joy. Others experience this time as busy, complicated, or even chaotic; and not just around planning celebrations or such. Sensitive or intuitive persons actually dream a lot or experience spiritual downloads of information!

Naturally, the hustle and bustle of the holiday season may make it difficult to find time for ourselves, but we can use the Winter Solstice as a way to excuse ourselves from some of the drama and overwhelm and take a pause. Yes, take some time and sit for awhile to reflect on your hopes, wishes and desires for the future.

It might also be a good time to contemplate about how your year went, and maybe set new intentions and realign your priorities.

Eastern beliefs offer an explanation of how the Solstices affect us. Not only symbolically, but in a very real sense; yin energy is the darkness before the Winter Solstice and then at sunrise, the dark opens to the lightness of the yang energy.

By seeking to first understand, we may actually give ourselves more space to live and let live, let go of the past and give ourselves a break from feeling the need to control.

Curiosity, Like Love, is Eternal

Like the spirals engraved on the neolithic and monolithic rocks at sites like, Knowth and Newgrange in Ireland and Stonehenge in England, humans have sought to leave their mark on the planet.

I listed Knowth first because some believe it to be the oldest of the astronomically-oriented structures built. Unfortunately, the caretakers of the Knowth site do not allow entrance into its chamber.

Exterior of the large mound at Knowth

Thankfully, near Knowth you can visit the larger site of Newgrange and go inside its tomb. However, to enter the burial chamber during the Winter Solstice sunrise, you must fill out a lottery application and be chosen to gain entry. The lucky few who win the opportunity to go inside the tomb at sunrise, get to see the rays of sunlight fill the chamber via a lightbox cut-out of the stones above the passageway entry. Those inside the chamber during sunrise will watch as sunlight fills the entire chamber, (weather permitting), for 17 precious minutes. Yes, it’s a very big deal and a once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Entrance to the Newgrange neolithic chamber

Interestingly, Stonehenge may be the world’s most famous prehistoric monument and sacred site to host the Summer and Winter Solstices that is aligned to the Winter Solstice sunset; while Newgrange only aligns to the Winter Solstice sunrise. I find this dichotomy intriguing.

The opportunity exists for all of us to visit these sacred sites and stir our inner curiosity about who and why all of the etchings were made on these gigantic stones. And we can be grateful that we are alive during this time in history when it is possible to visit these sacred sites.

I have been forever changed by visiting the West Kennet Long Barrow, (an Avebury site), Knowth, Newgrange and Stonehenge. Where allowed, I stood, walked, sat near and touched, many of these incredible stones; marveling their presence.

Last July, while meditating at Stonehenge inside the stone circle, I came to know of our “rightness to BE,” in the world. The experience quickly put me into a meditative state; when I am home, it takes me many minutes to reach that state of meditation. At Stonehenge, I became aware of why certain sites are sacred, and why, if we have the opportunity, we should protect them.

As I take the next long and luscious deep breath, I reach for the grace to continue to live and travel to these highly energetic places for many years to come. I want to take my granddaughters to these sites when they are of age.

Marking the Time

Nature shows us the effects of time. The inner rings on the trees mark the passing of years. Very few things last forever and no one agrees on the age of the neolithic structures that still stand on the earth.

Astronomically-speaking, the Winter Solstice marks the beginning of longer days and shorter nights. This is why it makes sense that as we head into the dark time of year, with shorter days, we allow ourselves the luxury of some time to journey within.

The Winter Solstice is observed by various cultures; not only Pagans and Druids. Eastern and Western cultures give meaning to the Solstice, because it marks the transition from darkness to light, or cold to warm.

In Japan, the Winter Solstice is a celebration of all things pertaining to the fruit Yuzu; that typically includes taking hot bath soaks filled with different tart citrus fruits. This event ushers in an important change in season. Cleansing rituals like celebrating the Solstice are honoring, both to us and our ancestors, before the earth makes another journey around our golden and life-giving sun.

Balance and Synchronicity

For me, this will be the first holiday I’ve experienced without my dad and third without my mom; at least in the physical sense, and I am an only child. Perhaps that is why the Universe has gifted me with so much recently; I’m thrilled, no matter the why or how!

I am simply grateful that through the use of all the holistic tools I have put into my proverbial “wellness toolbox,” I finally feel centered and balanced; even when emotionally triggered. Yay!

As an aside, one of my blog articles, “Why Am I So Emotional-Tips for Grief” was scheduled to be published on January 6th, 2020; that is my parent’s wedding anniversary! When I read the email from the Wellness Universe with that publishing date, I immediately sensed it was because my mom and dad are still with me in spirit. Truly, you can’t make this stuff up!

Yes, I see the synchronicity more clearly and feel this statement that was given to me spiritually or psychically years ago, even stronger now; “We Are ALL Connected.”

I write this as an aside, and that it’s a big reason why I am personally going to spend dedicated and focused time before and during the Winter Solstice to unpack my thoughts and set a new course for adventure!

I hope this article has been interesting and informative and that sometime soon you can experience the joy that awaits for you on the Winter Solstice in whatever way you observe this time marker.

I won a place for myself and a guest, (out of 30,861 lottery applications drawn by children from three different schools), to go inside the Newgrange burial chamber for the Winter Solstice sunrise on Dec. 18th, 2019 in Ireland and we are going! Stay tuned for the next post to read all about what mysteries it unlocks for me.

Thank you. Amen. Awomen. Namaste. OM

A Sacred Celtic Journey (Part 1): Ireland

Sacred Celtic Journey: Ireland

Thursday June 27

My husband (who had not flown in over 20 years due to experiencing a near crash in Reno) and I departed on a night flight out of Orlando, Florida for a life-affirming, adventurous 18 day spiritual vacation to the British Isles. This was quite the big deal for us, since it was also my first 2 week vacation from work in 40 years! For more on what prompted me to take this trip, and why my husband went–click [placeholder for link to come later].

But I digress for a moment. Prior to the sacred sites package part of our trip beginning, we arrived in Dublin, Ireland on Friday, June 28 to have a free day exploring Dublin city centre and prepare for a full day Game of Thrones tour on Saturday.

Our GoT tour did not disappoint! It was amazing! Our tour guide, Eric, had been an extra on the show for 8 seasons and totally knew his stuff. He gave us inside information about the show, behind-the-scenes, making of, the locations, and much more! He brought every location to life! He brought 8.5 x 11 inch laminated photos for us all to link the locations to scenes from the show to give us a point of reference, and to enable us to relive our tour whenever we rewatched the show! Excellent!

We had not expected it to be so physical, but we walked and hiked over 14,000 steps (equating to about 7 miles) over hilly terrain. We were pleased that we had the stamina to do it though, as it was quite the extraordinary experience! For more specifics on that day tour–click [placeholder for link to come later].

Our Sacred Celtic Journey tour included:

  • 12 night’s accommodations; we tacked on additional nights (before and after) to really make the most of it. Ultimately, we were so glad we did!
  • Transportation to/from airports and hotels to magnificent sites
  • Several meals with our group
  • Entry fees to parks and exhibits

Locations / Itinerary of our Sacred Celtic Journey:

Sunday, June 30

In Dublin, we visited St. Stephen’s Green and attended the opening ceremony “get-to-know-you” meeting with our group at a covered pavilion in this lovely city park. After hearing everyone’s intro stories and reasons for being on this trip, I resonated with unbounded JOY!

We stopped by this bench, the story of which I knew nothing about, held hands and said prayers for the historical women who had been so maligned and mistreated.

We walked through the city to an Irish pub for lunch–The Bankers Bar, where a sweetheart of a guy sang an Irish song to Susan when she ordered the Irish coffee, and Patricia (Patricia McGivern, certified hypnotist, author, and speaker and amazing leader of this tour) joined our table to hear Richard talk about UFOs.

Next, it was off to Trinity college to see the Book of Kells.

I was in awe of the whole place and had so been looking forward to this! However, the book was nice, but not as stupendous as I had expected. And similar to Disney, when you exit downstairs, you can’t leave without going through the gift shop. I made a mental note to look online later for souvenirs.

Don’t get me wrong, I was totally enthralled with the upstairs library and was told that students of Trinity college could check out books from it. Some of these books are worth a lot and are hidden!

After leaving the Book of Kells, our group walked through Dublin to dinner, seeing many sights such as the Ha’Penny bridge and taking photos along the way.

We dined with our group (well, part of our group) at another Bankers restaurant (not related to the lunch place), The Bank on College Green, which was fine dining and gorgeous. We sat in separate rooms (it’s not always easy to get 15 people seated together) and made the most of it by playing “table wars” with the other members of our group that weren’t seated near us.

It was a blast and our servers had a lot of fun taking part in that with us too! 😉

This light and fluffy strawberry cheesecake and sorbet dessert was like none I’d experienced before! Not too sugary. Yum!

This particular evening, we stayed at the lovely Trinity City Hotel. Note: Before our group had all arrived, my husband and I stayed at the modern Gibson hotel, which was a luxurious treat! (More about that on the next post.)

After dinner, a few of us met outside the hotel bar and heard lots of stories from an Irish tour guide, Amon (who was Scottish and not one of our guides), whom Pharon had met at the lobby elevator. He was lively and we all enjoyed his company. I kept looking up at the skylight because it was so light out at 10:30pm!

Monday, July 1

The next day we met Tony Corcoran, our tour bus guide and driver (of Wild Irish Tours), who took us to Westmead to meet a local named, Marty, who would give us all the ins and outs about Uisneach.

Uisneach, known to many as the spiritual center of ancient Ireland, was grand and magnificent. With soft grass, cows, and spectacular views of the countryside, it was even more spectacular to have it all to ourselves for a few hours.

At Usineach we walked many hilly acres, while Marty told us stories about the land and the annual Bealtaine Fire Celebration that occurs here.

I felt a heavy energy when I approached the circle where British soldiers had placed a stone marker. I acknowledged the powerful energy and when I walked away, it dissipated. On our way to the Catstone (a huge rock that not every visitor is allowed to see), my husband and I held back from the group a bit and spent some time with the trees, stones, and land. I loved the stones buried in the earth, the lush windswept grass, and the large clover.

At the Catstone, my first thought was, “I am watching you, rock. Don’t you move, rock.” from one of our favorite shorts, Dug’s Special Mission from the Pixar movie, Up. Mostly, I fondly admired the daisies growing up and out of the Catstone like hair. 😉

To help show the immensity of the Catstone, I’ll include a picture of our group:

While walking, Tony had told us a friend of his had died the night before and I expressed my sympathy and told him about my dad. As we walked together, I talked about the 200 acres my dad’s father had farmed in West Virginia and how this place reminded me of it. He patted me on my back and expressed his sympathy for me. Is that what Connection is all about?

Oh, and I had a “conversation” with the happy cows we saw. I felt connected with them too!

During the time I walked the lands of Uisneach, I thought of my family (my uncle Jim because he’s a woodworker, and my first cousin Greg because he’d love this place for the annual festival they hold and the cool vibe), and I took some pictures for them.

After leaving Uisneach, Tony knew of this aWEsOMe place for lunch called, Red Earth. It was a delicious food stop and store, where grabbed some snacks too! I loved it as much for their mouth-watering food, as I did for their butterfly logo! 🦋

I had the vegetarian green curry, which was the best I’d ever had!

And yes, I had to snap a quick selfie. LOL

And my husband really enjoyed his tantalizing burger too!

After an enjoyable lunch, it was on to Loughcrew. Since, for us, it was the second day (after our 7 mile GoT hike on Saturday, and our 10,000+ step day on Sunday) and the day our legs were the most sore, Richard and I stayed behind at the cafe while the group hiked to the stones. We shopped a bit, read about the place, and enjoyed carrot cake, coffee, and wine at the splendid Loughcrew cafe.

I was happy to have a break from the walking and realign my energy with a glass of delicious dry red wine. The name of it started with a U, something like “Undone” or “Unbroken” and it was from Chile.

I loved our group, especially Patricia, our fearless leader and organizer. She really had put together a most spectacular journey for us. And this was just the first of three countries! For me though, a spiritual journey means peace, quiet, slow, and time to “just BE.” And I was happy that Patricia encouraged us right from the get-go, to take care of our bodies. NOTE: From my NOW perspective, I understand why sometimes a spiritual journey must be a pilgrimage. Ahh, learning all the time!

Later on, Tony drove our group to the town of Kells, where we stayed one night. Kells is said to be the place (at the Kells monastery) that the monks kept the Book of Kells hidden and safe (during times of raids and wars). Tony told us a bit more about that and suggested we walk back up to the monastery (that we rode past) from our hotel, but hubby and I were too tired.

A nice thing about being in a group is that if you miss something, like the High Crosses, someone else will take a picture or video. I took tons of little videos on our trip because we really did see a lot!

In Kells, we stayed at the Headfort Arms hotel. It was a nice place, but the bathtubs have a very narrow bottom (they kind of slope inwards) under the showerhead. Perhaps they were made more for soaking than showering. And I don’t mean to complain, as overall, it was lovely.

We ate dinner together as a group and talked a lot! Getting to know everyone in our group was one of the best parts of traveling this way! One of the coolest parts was learning of new shows and books to dig into. I was amazed how we all came together for this journey from so many different traditions (directions).

Tuesday, July 2

We visited Knowth and Newgrange, and both are noted to be older than Stonehenge & the Egyptian pyramids! Newgrange was the place of the blue light and spiral stone carvings that had magnetized me to take this tour!

Knowth was really amazing! The size of the mounds, as well as the number of them, really surprised me. The views from here were also grand. We could see Newgrange from Knowth.

We got to go inside and explore the megalithic tombs at Newgrange–they wouldn’t let people in the tomb at Knowth anymore. It’s sad and frustrating that some people carve or mark these ancient artifacts and ruin it for those who come later.

I FELT the Energy at Knowth. It was palpable! And I sensed a strong connection both for my mom and myself here when I saw the small white stones that looked so much like the Georgia white marble stones my mother just had to have in the home she and my dad built in West Virginia in the 1970s.

The construction of the mound at Newgrange was different than the mounds at Knowth. But many of the carvings were similar. Plus, we got to go inside the mound at Newgrange and experience a short light show (which simulated the sun coming through) and historical talk. Photos were not allowed inside though.

Later that day, we went to the Hill of Tara to visit its Stone of Destiny. Another bit of a hike, but we all wanted to see it.

Tony told us amazing Irish folk stories (that are passed down verbally within families) while we sat near a special healing tree at the Hill of Tara. I was moved to tears while he told a story about a midwife that had been told to children to scare them away from digging under the tree. It was so multifaceted and layered that it touched my heart deeply and I felt cleansed and wiped out afterwards.

Synchronistically, as Tony was telling the story a young girl walked behind him (like a scene out of a movie) and I thought of my granddaughter, Jennifer, and how intricately interwoven our lives are.

Before we left, Tony also told my husband, myself, and John, an amazing story about his Keyes/Keays lineage, and also about bog Myrtle (which calms nerves and can be put on skin to clear acne). We loved all the wisdom stories we heard and soaked it in.

Afterwards, Tony (of Wild Irish Tours) drove us to Glendalough in the Wicklow mountains and told us about the trail across the street from the hotel. Our group said our thanks and goodbyes to Tony and he was on his way. We felt very privileged to have met him and hope to see him and meet his wife when they travel to Florida.

We experienced gentle healing, emotional support, and peace in Glendalough our entire stay. And we genuinely loved the Glendalough hotel–our room was lovely with a view of the beautiful grounds, the restaurant was fantastic, and the bar was comfortable and fun!

We spent two nights here, but felt we could have stayed 4 or 5 days, as it was that important and special.

From our hotel room window, I watched this hawk! And I fell in love with these trees.

I walked the labyrinth and spotted a family of deer. I experienced an emotional healing at St. Kevin’s well and was stung by stinging nettle. Synchronicities being as they are, stinging nettle tea is very good for the lungs and I had been drinking it for about a year, since visiting my girls in New Hampshire!

Wednesday, July 3

While in Glendalough we had our first of three past life group regressions with Patricia. Plus, Patricia had arranged for our group to meet and learn about the softness of Celtic Spirituality from Mary Meighan. And Mary was exceptional. We all wanted to bring her home with us!

Celtic Spirituality, as turns out, was an outgrowth of Paganism (though not the same, and not what we expected). We learned the history of Brigid, the softness and gentleness of Celtic Spirituality, and that it’s all about an invitation to walk the “tread easy upon the earth” path–giving more than taking, versus a hell and damnation fear-based faith.

Before Mary left, she gave us an Irish blessing and taught us an easy chant. And we all took turns holding and connecting with her ancient carving of Brigid, as shown next.

My past life regression–Glendalough

If you haven’t had a past life regression, the following may seem outlandish to you. But this was only one of a series I’ve experienced with Patricia, and she’s masterful. Even if you don’t believe in reincarnation, think of it as a creative writing exercise. You breathe and allow your mind to flow along with Patricia’s words and become deeply relaxed. I won’t explain it away though, as for me, it is a profoundly personal and metaphysical experience. And even if you’re “making it all up”, what’s the impetus for it?

I was already in a meditative state upon sitting to begin our group regression. My field of vision (with my eyes closed) had become filled with the indigo and cobalt blue color (which has been a thing for me since my first one-on-one regression). However, before we actually got started, one of our group, Dave, asked if we could go around the room and offer comments about our experiences thus far. I could have nudged him, as he was sitting beside me, but in the state I was in, I easily let that all go. And by the time three or four had spoken, someone (I later learned it was Trudy), shared something that sent gentle tears flowing freely down my cheeks. John shared, and then Carol. Carol’s father had passed and her emotions were raw. I don’t remember the exact words she said, but they resonated thoroughly within me. When it was my turn, still from a meditative state, I offered words that both Carol and Trudy told me later were healing for them. I don’t know what I said, but I remember the whole feeling of thanks that reverberated through me. I was in utter Gratitude for life, and for this TIME.

As Patricia started the regression, my conscious mind followed Patricia’s voice, and now in a deeply relaxed state, I looked for my feet. But, I didn’t have any! I was a sea creature with an eel-like tail (instead of feet), a long thin body and long angular face. But the best part? I had these brightly colored, cellular deep, spinning, “all-the-way-through my translucent body” chakras, (but I had just watched Aquaman on the flight over, so one might say my subconscious picked up cues from it). However, I watched Aquaman again, after we got home, and no, what I saw was much grander and more detailed than what the creatures looked like in that movie.

As this underwater creature, I wasn’t able to cry, and it was made known to me (in my regression) that is why I had came back as a human. You see, underwater you can’t feel tears against your skin. For work, I was sitting in a field of labradorite stones! And in my real current life, I love those stones! They had a kind of hieroglyphic type of carving on them. But, I’ll share more about why this is important in a later post. Stay tuned!

After our group experience inside the hotel conference room, we went outside to the well and healing tree. I tied a blade of greenery to the tree in memory of my dad (who passed away in March of this year). Mary told me to ask my grandmother (spiritually) to comfort me both for that and the nettles sting. And she did!

Thursday, July 4

I woke up at 5:30am and by 6:45am, I was hiking alone on Wicklow Way (across from the hotel). This is where I fortuitously saw a deer family. The baby even tried to nurse, but mama deer saw me and nudged her away–or she was weaning it. Nonetheless, I felt quite special witnessing this family of three, and before I left, another deer appeared also. Then in a flash, they ran off through the thicket. I thought of my mom, dad, and me. Because this was a family of three, just as we had been. And I remembered my dad telling me in recent years, how he couldn’t shoot deer anymore. He’d been a deer hunter most of his life (skilled with both bow and arrow and rifle). He told me that he could see the natural beauty in them. I knew he had a soft spot for them because as a teen he’d shared that he couldn’t eat the venison of deer he’d killed and cleaned.

I loved the purple flowers, which Beverly told me were foxglove (a type of digitalis). I also loved the ferns, thatched roofs, moss, and stone walls (some with little faerie holes in them).

I also meandered through the cemetery. I went back to the room to get hubby for breakfast and after that, we walked through the cemetery again and to the lake.

We departed at 11am for the Dublin airport to fly to Bristol, England. Stay tuned for my next two posts about that. I have so many pictures to share. And you will be stunned by our pictures and experiences of Stonehenge (inside the stones)!!!

“Whenever a knight of the Grail tried to follow a path made by someone else, he went altogether astray. Where there is a way or path, it is someone else’s footsteps. Each of us has to find his own way, and this is what gives our Occidental world its initiative and creative quality. Nobody can give you a mythology. The images that mean something to you, you’ll find in your dreams, in your visions, in your actions – and you’ll find out what they are after you’ve passed them.” — Joseph Campbell

Spirituality is for ALL

Omniscience

The reason I write and speak so much about Omniscience is because that word, instead of God, transcends ALL. Omniscience transcends boundaries. Omniscience overlays all other belief systems. Omniscience allows.

There is a Grace to Omniscience, Omnipresence.

Omniscience transcends ALL
Omniscience transcends ALL

Labels

If one is a Christian, you know Omniscience.

If one is Jewish, you know Omniscience.

If one is Muslim, you know Omniscience.

If one is Pagan, you know Omniscience.

No matter what other label you are, you know Omniscience. You know the Energy that transcends ALL.

Places

There is no need for church, temple, synagogue, mosque, or other external structure. You don’t need to go anywhere to BE with Omniscience.

Omniscience is with you wherever you are.

Acceptance

Omniscience meets you in whatever condition you are in. Sad, lonely, depressed, in despair, or on the verge of cRaZy.

Omniscience cares for you, loves you, adores you, and finds you worthy.

One can label God and think of God as a personage, but as soon as you make this distinction, the opportunity is open for opposition and disagreement. If you want to find a way to agree and connect in Unity, it’s easier to go general and adopt the highest view of Source.

Spirituality

You are a fractal of Omniscience. And Omniscience envelopes you. Omniscience is in, through, and all around you. And you are important. You are not merely dust in the wind.

Spirituality, or BEing spiritual, is knowing Omniscience IS.

Connection

Kiss your hand. Feel the Energy of your body. Feel the essence of life.

Prayer seeks Omniscience to listen. Mindfulness, meditation, and flowing in a soul-connected way to create something are ways you can listen to Omniscience. Be available for that communication.

We Are All Connected.

Your soul-aligned friend in Connection.

Many blessings to you in ALL ways.

About My Blog Name

Take It Upon Yourself is about accepting responsibility for yourself. Your health. Your dreams. Your talents. Your passions and desires. It’s about knowing who YOU are.

TakeItUponYourself

Who are you? Have you asked yourself this question? Have you said, “Self, who am I”?

Take a look in the mirror – go ahead, take a good look. Do you know who you are? I realize I may err on being a bit annoying here. But I just wonder how many of us really examine ourselves – and ask ourselves this question. How well do we know our own unique person… mind, body, and soul (or spirit if you’re so inclined to believe in a spiritual self). Each of us have a unique set of fingerprints to remind us that we’re all different, particular, specific individuals.

I’ve been asking myself who I am since turning fifty (50) years of age. I am on a journey of self discovery. I can describe attributes and characteristics of myself, but who am I?

I have discovered that I am Energy, focused in a physical body. I am the sum total of my previous choices and experiences.

I’ve accomplished many things that I never thought I would. I’ve been given everything I have ever wanted. Along the way I did some things I would not do again – but I learned lessons from those experiences. I can’t explain why I did some of the things I did, but I think I had good reasons at the timeI think most people act on the best information they understand at the time.

So, I can’t condemn my former self since I acknowledge that my past choices taught me lessons and turned me into the person I accept as my self today. I believe love is a choice. Life, humility, gratitude, sanity – all are choices.

I have also come to an awareness that beliefs are just thoughts we keep thinking over and over – we always have the power within us to think different (better) thoughts and change ourselves if we don’t like what we see in the mirror. Me? I’m always changing!

So, who am I? LOL

I accept responsibility, fully, for who I am. And I deeply love and accept myself for who I am.

I am a mother, a new grandmother, and wife. I’m a highly responsible individual. I take it upon myself to feel better and make healthy choices everyday. I’m fabulous. 🙂 And I bet you’re fabulous too!

I am more than my mind, body, and soul / spirit. I am the culmination of everything I’ve experienced. And I stand on GREAT shoulders. Strong, loyal, God-loving, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, and so on.

I have also had great mentors and teachers along the way too! Thankfully, God gave me one in particular who proved the value of higher education to me many years ago (because I couldn’t wait to finish high school and had never wanted to go to college). She proved me wrong. Obtaining two degrees kept me gainfully employed on my career path!

Some of my ancestors were persecuted for their beliefs, religion, and even their race, which knowing this – keeps me grounded and humble. I believe that also is the reason, or at least one reason, why I am an empath. I am strong. A survivor of hurt, pains, and traumas. A survivor of former marriages, of loves lost.

I look in the mirror and see a woman who’s changed – a lot!

I now eat foods that I didn’t eat five (5) years ago. I beat asthma. I’m a creative and technical career woman. I’ve co-written songs (with my talented soul-mate hubby), and tried all sorts of alternative health modalities that most of my family and friends haven’t yet explored. I’ve gained weight, but I’ve lost it too! I consider myself somewhat of a renaissance woman. Forging ahead and leading my daughter and granddaughter down new trails.

Taking it upon myself, I want something better for them, an easier path perhaps, than what I had. And I know a lot of people who feel the same way. They want to give their kids more than they had – not material things exactly – but knowledge!

Knowledge is power. An explored, informed, due diligence done, and educated response to life – wow! Just imagine the time I’ll save them, and maybe some pain too.

I heard it once said that a wise person learns not from experience, but from the experiences of others.

I’d like to go down that road less traveled. So, I invite you to… take it upon yourself.

Imagine who you want to be. Won’t you?
