It’s February 1st, 2024; What’s bubbling up for me today as I listen to this song, continue writing in my 5th book (see the image–it’s the chapter on Musical Notes), and work on a few side projects (see my all-time favorite song playlist near the end of this article). Bubba Hudson does a great job singing on this demo and producer, Steven Cooper mixes it well also. I sometimes wonder how many laughs these guys had over the years while working on my husband’s songs. Not that this is a song to laugh about, but the one I will share tomorrow is… so stay tuned!

Superficiality doesn’t bring one true love

Here’s the thirty-second new music post for 2024, as I consistently present our original songs for ALL to enjoy. This song presents several different superficial ideas of how men try to pick up women. He’s hunting for romance. He tries to be a Romeo. He tends to get caught up in Italian silk suits, autographed Gucci shirts, Porsche cars, and his workouts for a fine physique to “get under every skirt.” Men like this have never impressed me.

I love the guitar break in this original song. I love the reference to Caller ID and Call Blocker. Ha! Oh, how little these types of men must think of themselves, much less the women they chase. How shallow!

Playing games

This song is all about the games people play to find love, instead of just working on themselves, their spirit and soul, and their mindset. Do people really need to play these games to find love and connect? It’s sad to think some people feel they must achieve all these physical trappings before they can find true love. To me, they are just hooking up. They are not securing a true love partner for life. Sad.

And before you think I’m being all judgmental and shit, okay, maybe I am. We sat beside a couple we had never met before, at dinner last night. We watched this game go on between them for over two hours and it was nauseating. UGH! The woman had been divorced and was out with her friend, whom she admitted to all of us sitting near, she loves him as a friend “until he drinks too much.”

As if Richard and I were psychic we could have accurately predicted how this would end. Yep! She asked me to walk her out to her car, because she hadn’t brought her jacket in with her, and she had 6-inch heels on, had drank too much, and was cold so needed to get everything out of her car so they could call an Uber. I don’t know what happened between them after we got back in the restaurant but about fifteen minutes later, she left–alone. The gentleman (I’m being kind here) kept asking the bartender to help him get a taxi. The bartender friend was great, so patient. He showed this guy how to call an Uber from his phone–I get that not everyone is up on those kinds of apps, and the guy was drunk, so there’s that. They were a hoot until they weren’t. Each caught up in superficiality.

Snip from my 5th book, that is in progress. This is the start of the Musical Notes chapter. The concept of the book is simplistic, but writing it is turning into a daunting task.

I don’t know why I can’t embed the playlist link, so if this first link doesn’t open the playlist, here’s the two-step process in order to get to it:

After you click on the playlist link, click on Sheila’s All-Time Favorite Songs (only one song of the 75 is one of our original songs too, because I love almost all of those and there are over 400–so I put this playlist together of the songs I have grown up listening too, along with a few more recent songs that have become favorites). I hope you enjoy this list of 75 songs. Let me know which of these songs are your favorites too!

Radio-ready songs

The songs I’m sharing are radio-ready, sung by pro singers, and recorded by top music studios in Nashville, TN. We are songwriters currently based in Ocala, Florida. Scroll down for the Vimeo link in the About Us section of this post to see us perform one of our original songs.

May we all soar in ’24!

Find our songs on Spotify

It’s funny. Many of our original songs have been on CDBaby and TuneCore for years. Some of our songs are on Spotify at different locations. The key when you’re searching is to look for ‘Richard Murrey’ as the artist, OR ‘Chevy Ford Band.’ Let me know if that’s helpful. Here are a couple Spotify links if this helps:

  1. I like your playlists…and your original songs. I’m trying to mix my original songs…you have a great mix on those songs! That is my achillies heel.

    1. I agree. We had to change studios several years ago only because Stephen Cooper retired. We changed to a much more expensive studio and I will note their name on posts where they were used. We are still grateful for them, but now that we are both retired, we are changing again and have three people we are beginning to work with to see who works out best. We appreciate your compliments on the mix. I swear so much of what sells songs these days are the great productions (versus just having a great song). Glitz and glam sell.

      1. I record on Cubase. Sometimes I coax one of my old band members to come over but I’m usually just play everything. Really…the reason I do it is to play it to the guys so they can learn it…so mine are more demos…but Cubase is capable of sounding great.
Yes the production really makes it.

  2. Wow, awesome playlist. Really like Heart so, I’m listening to “Heart Magic Man” now. Ann Wilson is one of my favorites. You’ve got me pumped up now, so I’m going to listen to “Barracuda” next.
