Can you believe it’s been 17 years since I joined LinkedIn? I actually feel like I’ve been on the platform longer. I have had to redo what I’ve posted on LinkedIn many times, because I have had people steal job descriptions, follow me (yes, in real life) to where I’ve worked (I would say ‘stalking’ but because I couldn’t prove it beyond coincidence I didn’t accuse the guy of that. Should one close their LinkedIn account after they retire?
Since retiring, I pondered closing my LinkedIn account, but I am continuing to post my daily music blog posts there, at least for this year.
I see several people (mostly the ones I used to work with) who put —RETIRED— or such on their LinkedIn profile and was wondering, how many do that versus simply remove their profile and close their account? Any guesses?

It’s January 26th, 2024; Reflecting on my 35+ years in Technology (now retired) while listening to this original rock song that offers a bit of cosmic flair (thanks to my hubby songwriter, Richard Murrey, singer, Bubba Hudson, and Steven Cooper producer from his Nashville, TN studio).
Oh, this song reminds me of the chat rooms (I used to chat with people from all over the world on digital/virtual bulletin boards–mostly on religious subjects), a leap from talking on the C.B. radio in my youth. It also brought to mind when I bought my first computer–I didn’t yet know a hard drive from a mouse. Look at us now!
Cosmic rock
Here’s the twenty-sixth new music post for 2024, as I consistently pump out original songs for you to groove to each day this year. To me, this is a rock song with some curious zings! I love that little cosmic sizzle that Steven added to the radio-ready song (from playing keyboard years ago, I think it’s one of those electronic settings one can use). Yeah, use that tech! And Bubba’s voice lends a smooth ride on this all the way through. Love that key change!
Double entendres
My husband, Richard Murrey, loves to write lyrics that incorporate double entendres. Is it any wonder we connected with my love of moral ambiguity? I’d been through so much shit in life when we met (yes, that’s a whole other story), but Richard accepted me just as I was–no small feat. And I loved all the myriad stories and experiences he brought to the table.
From the moment we first chatted online, our love of writing from a deep well of experiences and use of technology, and the fact that Richard played bass and guitar and didn’t sing gave space for me, a lifelong singer, the opportunity to sing–made for a heavenly match! I had written some poetry and plays as a youngster, and had even attempted songwriting when I was a teen (when I learned how to read and write sheet music from a very gifted high school music teacher). But I didn’t apply myself to the guitar my dad had given me. I was too interested in boys! LOL
I hope you enjoy this fun, techie rock song. Let us know. It’s got some age on it now, but maybe that’s a good thing. I could almost hear it used in the upcoming ‘Stranger Things’ season or any new Sci-Fi series. What do you think?

So, I had three fraudulent charges show up on my credit card this morning, which triggered a text message to my phone and woke me up. If you would rather listen instead of read, play the audio:
The fraudulent charges
In the early morning hours on Friday someone fraudulently charged my credit card for nearly $600 worth of stuff at Verizon Wireless via the internet.
The $1 charges were a test to see if the card worked. Then they ran it for the large amount of around $564 and change.

What could have caused this?
I have recently added the TikTok app to my phone and a couple other apps. Kicking myself over that as I had removed all superfluous apps from my phone a year or more ago when we were hacked twice in a year! Ugh
Could it have been related to a disgruntled Instacart driver? I had put in an order for groceries on Wednesday night to have them delivered between 8-10am on Thursday, and they have always been on time or early! But nooo… not this time. They sent a message at 9 saying the shopper just got my order and would deliver at 11:15am! Normally, that would be okay but Thursday we had to walk to my husband’s doctor appointment!! Grrr! So, I chatted with the shopper and said no, and explained I had put the order in the night before and we were not going to be home. She was short with me (rude) and eventually told me I would have to contact Instacart to reschedule. I did but whoever I talked with didn’t do her job right and an hour later, another shopper started shopping our order. Again I said NO I rescheduled for 2pm!! She said they couldn’t cancel and I had to call Instacart AGAIN. Now, I am pissed. So, I called and the gentleman I spoke to apologized and changed or order to 3:30-5pm. Now, we wouldn’t have our lunch but at least frozen fish wouldn’t be left outside our door to melt. Ugh.
We walked to the doctors office and I worked on my own mental attitude to “let it go.”
The funny thing was the wonderful lady shopper who delivered our groceries at 4pm spent time explaining she could see all the former texts between the earlier shoppers and me. I apologized but she said, no, they should have apologized to me because I did nothing wrong and both the earlier ones were lazy! She said they CAN remove or shift an order though both told me they couldn’t. And that there was a glitch for her to see the texts that day. Normally, they can’t see the texts between previous shoppers and the customer, which then stuck in my head when the fraud charges happened! What else could they see?!? They scan our drivers license when we have wine delivered!

Removed several apps from my iPhone
So, I removed about 6 apps from my phone and will use my laptop for everything except Uber and Lyft. I may owe my career to Bill Gates and technology but I am getting to the place of hating it due to cyber crimes! And Cyber is HUGE business!
Spiral thought: this is what aggravates me about some in the health field. They can’t admit when their industry is wrong. I admit technology has its evils. I have desired to leave tech for a very long time!
Back to the issue of Cybersecurity though.

I am sooo thankful our niece is studying for her Masters degree in Cyber Security!
I needed to calm down and put my angst into something actionable so I texted my sister-in-law to relay a message to her daughter that if she had time we had been hacked. She did and not long after, our niece chatted with me (and I sent her screenshots) of what happened. I also explained what my credit card company told me as well as the business involved, and she agreed it sucked to have this happen but to try and just let them work through the process.
First, one puts a freeze on the card. Then you report the fraud charge and report the card lost/stolen. Now, my card wasn’t lost or stolen but my account number was, so I don’t know how someone got that, along with my zip code and security code, expiration date, etc. But I am quite sure the financial institutions can figure it out.
Whoever bought something through Verizon Wireless online (because the stores were closed when the charges occurred), would probably use their real name and address, just my card info to pay nearly $600 for whatever, new service, phone, or such.
In the meantime, the credit card company will remove the charges on my account, but it still means that I can’t use my card for up to 10 days, as they have to change my account number and mail me a new card! Ugh!
And when I get my new card I will have to update all the places I use it for recurring charges. Ugh!
But I know we can’t kill all the hackers. (And yes, that’s always the extreme version of the thought process and how wars get started. The human need or drive for vengeance, justice, or CONTROL—we will just call it what it is).
We Are ALL Connected and the decisions of others can and do tug, push, or pull us to the degree we ALLOW. I still believe in personal responsibility because if I influence someone to higher or lower frequency—I am culpable. Omniscience knows ALL.
