Apparently, resurrecting a Rose of Jericho plant isn’t always easy. Here I go again, after asking and receiving some advice from my soulie sister and fellow blogger, Debra.
The advice? Debra said, “rinse it with a few drops of H202 in water. The oxygen in hydrogen peroxide purifies. (It works on fruits and vegetables.)”
I think I’m getting somewhere with this plant though, because it had less mold on it after two days than it did the last time.
(If you missed the earlier posts about this plant, click or tap here, here and here.)
Here I go again… attempting to resurrect a Rose of Jericho
I thoroughly rinsed (in cold water) the Rose of Jericho and spritzed it with the aforementioned hydrogen peroxide. I also let it sit in the water that still had a bit of hydrogen peroxide in it for about 30 minutes before letting it dry and replacing it back in the deep dish pie plate.

I’ll let you know if it molds again or if it makes it.
Bonus! Photo – two angles of same: My Dill is sprouting already outside in the planter. It’s early! Per the package instructions. I’m thrilled! –Sheila Murrey

The work of resurrecting a Rose of Jericho plant is taking a bit more time and effort than I’d imagined. I happened to notice that it was starting to gather some white mold on it and I have no idea why. But I thought it best to rinse off the mold and clean out the pie plate and go for a redo.
My soulie sister and fellow blogger, Debra sent me this plant months ago as a dried up plant. Debra wrote that I should watch some YouTube videos to understand and learn how to resurrect it, and I have. Many videos! (If you missed the first couple of posts about this plant, click or tap here and here.)
I thoroughly rinsed (in cold water) the Rose of Jericho and cleaned the deep dish pie plate. I removed all the former shells, rocks, and crystals I’d placed in the plate with the plant previously. My thought was that they might have contributed to the issue. I had found some river rocks out in the yard, washed and dried them to use in the plate to hold the plant suspended over the distilled water.

Here’s the photo (top and bottom) of the empty, finished deep dish pie plate that I had forgot to take and post months ago:

I’d like to say this is the end of the story and the plant is thriving, but unfortunately, I checked on it a few days after I’d taken these photos and it was covered in white mold AGAIN! Thus, I repeated the process and am giving it another chance at life. I’ll take another photo in a few days, if it makes it and post another update. Fingers-crossed. Reiki given. And all of the above!

As promised, here’s a photo of the Rose of Jericho plant not quite 24 hours after setting it up in a deep dish pie plate with a bit of water. I think I will add more water to it tomorrow.
Thank you, sister Debra of Jaguar Spirit for this Resurrection plant!
Speaking of plants, we watched this great documentary tonight called, Kiss the Ground. You might want to watch it. It offers some wonderful ways to reduce the carbon in our atmosphere. And Woody Harrelson narrates it.

Today is the day! I am resurrecting the Rose of Jericho plant my soulie sister and fellow blogger, Debra sent me months ago. Debra was so gracious to send me this amazing plant and I will definitely think of her every time I look at it.
Thank you, sister Debra of Jaguar Spirit for this Resurrection plant!

Here’s how to resurrect the Rose of Jericho:
Resurrection of a Rose of Jericho plant
My version of resurrecting a Rose of Jericho
I placed many small crystals in the deep dish pie plate I made last year (I’ve done 3 of these painting classes so far). I covered the crystals with some new pine bark bits that were leftover from repotting my orchids. A bit of purified water and this is how the Rose of Jericho looks:
I’ll post another photo tomorrow and we’ll see how it looks!
Here’s the whole top shelf with the two repotted orchids (my first attempt at repotting orchids, so fingers crossed! Ha!
Orchids from Florida repotted and ‘watered’ with ice cubes per the directions that came with the first one when it was given to us.
I now see where I have been remiss to post the photos of the two empty art hand-painted bowls. I never took a finished photo of the deep dish pie plate, but it’s similar to the bowls just in a deeper blue.
I found one or two previous posts where I had shown the painting of the bowls in progress but never completed (after they came out of the kiln), so I will show the completed bowls now:

It’s November 27th, 2024; We’ve got an original country song for you to listen to tonight as you wind down from doing your pre-Thanksgiving chores. Paul Pace does an exceptional job singing this song. He’s got such an authentic country tone to his voice. We love it! This is the three-hundred-thirtieth new music post for 2024! Are y’all ready for Thanksgiving tomorrow? I’ve already started my baking yesterday and have the carrot dump cake and two pumpkin pies done–yes, one has bourbon in it. Ha! I guess that really does mean at least a few of us will feel like Hank Williams tomorrow night. Bring it on… I feel like Hank Williams tonight!
I have a couple of posts scheduled for tomorrow, but I’ll be back here Friday to see how everyone’s doing. Let me share something I read this morning that I deeply resonated with:

Everything happens for a reason
Yes, Everything Happens for a Reason and Everything Resolves to Gratitude. Knowing that each of us (as fractals) uplifts my mind and allows me to view life as a lively kaleidoscope grand design that moves about in an ever-expanding, revolving, melodious, consciousness. Even if we have to disconnect from some people, for a time.
Enjoy (IN Joy) everything and love! Be Everything All the Time. Let’s soar in ’24! And let’s (are you ready for this?) THRIVE in ’25! or just be… Alive in ’25.

It’s November 26th, 2024; We’ve got an original country song for you to get crackin’ on the cooking for the upcoming holiday. This song was inspired by a bartender friend of ours, Chris Criner, Merritt Island, FL. Adam Cunningham and Angela Hurt make us take a double-take on this rockin’ country duet! This is the three-hundred-twenty-ninth new music post for 2024! Let’s cook up some relationship success this week while we’re basting that turkey, y’all. Sprinkle JOY everywhere and leave the grumpiness behind because… I like you better when you’re gone!
I wonder if blogger pals, Debra, Dawn, and Cindy will like this song?
Photo: I received a beautiful gift from soulie sister and blogger pal, Debra of Jaguar Spirit yesterday (a few moments after sharing one of her aWEsOMe blog articles within my daily music blog post yesterday). I love it when these synchronicities occur. I didn’t know anything about the Rose of Jericho (Resurrection plant), and when I watched a few YouTube videos, I was REALLY honored and impressed! I can’t wait to create a lovely little tray for this plant to sit in. I’m thrilled! What a Thanksgiving week surprise! Thank you, Debra!
Friends are the spice of life!
Meme: Meeting you later in life was how it was supposed to happen. Both of us healing, working on ourselves, not sure what was in our futures. Then it was like the universe said, here you go. Heal together. love each other, and grow together. Later in life love hit different. –Unknown but shared by a friend on Facebook Richard in his music room upstairs.
