January 28th – Waiting for the light

It’s January 28th, 2024; Enjoying the bluesy jazz of the saxophone (played by the incomparable, John Heinrich) on this original rock song that tells a story. Many thanks to my songwriter/guitarist husband, Richard Murrey, singer, Bubba Hudson, and producer, Steven Cooper from his Nashville, TN studio for creating such a powerful song.

Here’s the twenty-eighth new music post for 2024, as I consistently pump out original songs for you to groove to each day this year. This song offers a glimpse of what it’s like to lose a friend (in this life) and wait for the light. We cherish our memories. We look back on fun times–while living in the night. We hope we get to do all we need to do in this life before it’s our turn to wait for the light.

Friends from their first meeting

My husband, Richard Murrey, had a good friend named Kevin who passed years ago from a brain issue. They had been friends from their first meeting and had a lot in common–both artists. This was all years before I came into Richard’s life. He’s told me many times, even getting misty-eyed after his stroke, of all the fun times he and Kevin had. I can only imagine! After Richard and I met, I got to meet (via phone conversations) Kevin’s wife and brother. They both sounded like wonderful people and I am glad Richard has stayed in touch with them.

I always listen to this when I want the solace of bluesy jazz and want to recollect great times with good friends who have passed on. It lifts me up somehow. It gives me hope somehow that I may see my friend again one day (in the Grand Beyond). But let us know what you think of when you listen to this, okay?

Here’s a little something I found from a recent email from Shirley MacLaine, when I searched my hard drive about ‘waiting for the light’. I’ve followed Shirley MacLaine (whom I subscribe to her emails) for years. I’ve admired her spiritual journey, her dancing, and her acting over the decades. I’ve read and enjoyed her many books and articles and think you might too!

I’m trying out a couple of new video apps today to see which ones I might use to create music videos for any new songs we write. I just did a search and looked for free trials. I really dislike buying software, but I will if I find the right one that’s easy to learn and offers me what I think I’ll need. If you have any recommendations, let me know! January 27th – Uptempo country song about keepin’ the love once they leave

It’s January 27th, 2024; I love songs about ‘keeping the love’ if they say goodbye. No reason for bitterness. That only hurts YOU! As the song goes, “If you go, I don’t want to be the last to know.” Right! Communicate. Are you hearing me? “If you’ve found somebody new tell me straight and true.” Yep. Exactly. No surprises. I’ll still love you when you go.

Oh, what a concept! Let that person go. You can still continue to send them love–isn’t that what it’s all about? If you send them love, be sure to love yourself through the breakup. There are more than 8 billion people on the planet. Crying over the one lost person has always seemed silly to me–not that I take people for granted, NO! But don’t waste your tears (nor let your heart break) over someone who no longer cares for you!

January 26th – Tech and chat room meets (and new song reveal, Tell it to me)

It’s January 26th, 2024; Reflecting on my 35+ years in Technology (now retired) while listening to this original rock song that offers a bit of cosmic flair (thanks to my hubby songwriter, Richard Murrey, singer, Bubba Hudson, and Steven Cooper producer from his Nashville, TN studio).

Oh, this song reminds me of the chat rooms (I used to chat with people from all over the world on digital/virtual bulletin boards–mostly on religious subjects), a leap from talking on the C.B. radio in my youth. It also brought to mind when I bought my first computer–I didn’t yet know a hard drive from a mouse. Look at us now!

Cosmic rock

Here’s the twenty-sixth new music post for 2024, as I consistently pump out original songs for you to groove to each day this year. To me, this is a rock song with some curious zings! I love that little cosmic sizzle that Steven added to the radio-ready song (from playing keyboard years ago, I think it’s one of those electronic settings one can use). Yeah, use that tech! And Bubba’s voice lends a smooth ride on this all the way through. Love that key change!

Double entendres

My husband, Richard Murrey, loves to write lyrics that incorporate double entendres. Is it any wonder we connected with my love of moral ambiguity? I’d been through so much shit in life when we met (yes, that’s a whole other story), but Richard accepted me just as I was–no small feat. And I loved all the myriad stories and experiences he brought to the table.

From the moment we first chatted online, our love of writing from a deep well of experiences and use of technology, and the fact that Richard played bass and guitar and didn’t sing gave space for me, a lifelong singer, the opportunity to sing–made for a heavenly match! I had written some poetry and plays as a youngster, and had even attempted songwriting when I was a teen (when I learned how to read and write sheet music from a very gifted high school music teacher). But I didn’t apply myself to the guitar my dad had given me. I was too interested in boys! LOL

I hope you enjoy this fun, techie rock song. Let us know. It’s got some age on it now, but maybe that’s a good thing. I could almost hear it used in the upcoming ‘Stranger Things’ season or any new Sci-Fi series. What do you think?

January 25th – A traditional country song

It’s January 25th, 2024; Big surprise! A traditional country song about turning the clock around to be last night. A love song with a twist. He wants to find a way to get back to her last night because she turned his heart around.

Turning back time

Here’s the twenty-fifth new music post for 2024, as I consistently offer original songs for you each day this year. This is definitely a traditional country song. The bartender mixes his drink “too strong.” And then he wants to turn back time. “Hey, is that me coming in the door?” he asks. There’s no reason or rhyme why we can’t stop time. He croons about Time Travel, and yes, he goes on a spoken rant about it too! Ha! You gotta check it out!

Live performances

We went out for some Live music last night. We heard Stephen Lopez play guitar and sing like Elvis at our favorite local Italian restaurant. See my Google review of Milano’s:

We met some new folks at the bar and enjoyed some great drinks, wonderful food, and socialization. I feel sorry for those who still feel the need to stay home. We actually moved to the particular apartment community we’re in now because of the diner, grocery store with pharmacy, credit union, and doctor we can walk to, but finding Milano’s was a lovely surprise!

January 24th – User friendly applies in more ways than Tech

It’s January 24th, 2024; Here’s a fun, free-wheeling song that talks on a subject that applies in more areas than technology! It’s a relationship song.

User Friendly

Here’s the twenty-fourth new music post for 2024, as I consistently offer original songs for you each day this year. This is one of my favorite songs of ours. We rehearsed it years ago, to be able to go out and play Live sets (but with both our jobs, Richard never thought I was ready). Now, I feel we’re too old, with too many different health issues, to go out and perform, but if you know anyone looking for original music for their band, we’d love for them to play it! We have no ego in this.

Playing Live

As I explained yesterday, Richard played Live in a rock band for many years. We know the rigors of playing out. Rehearsing. Loading. Unloading. Setting up. Checking levels. Performing. Fixing any tech issues that pop up while an audience waits. Putting up with hecklers. Tearing down. Loading again. Being our own roadie. And then unloading it and putting stuff away when we get back home. It takes stamina. Kudos to those doing it!

After many a Righteous Buds gig, I’d be the only gal out with three guys at 3 in the morning at the Waffle House. Yeah, that was fun. Note my extreme sarcasm here.

It’s January 23rd, 2024; Here’s a hard-driving rock song for you today! Richard chose the visual for the video (duh, right?). Ha! Salacious? Perhaps. Just goes to show, our original songs run the gamut! And we live in Florida, so there’s that. If you go to the beach you see more skin than in this image.

Here’s the twenty-third new music post for 2024, as I continue presenting one of our original songs each day this year. There isn’t much I can say about this hard-driving rock song, so I’ll let the song speak for itself.

This song is straight-ahead rock and roll. The message is pretty clear too. I remember being somewhat taken aback when Richard and bandmate, Dave Evans, crafted this song for gigs around the Melbourne, Florida area during the time we were dating/living together (about 20 years ago as of this writing). But, boys will be boys, as they say (whoever “they” are)!

I went to almost all of the Righteous Buds’ gigs and they got a lot of audience participation when they played this one (as well as some other originals that I was embarrassed about at the time). I’ve since made peace with the few songs that I don’t particularly care for. It is what it was. That was then, this is now. And perhaps, this is one of those songs that harkens to a past era. But you can let us know in the comments. (And no, this is not a picture of me on the video! Ha!)

January 22nd – Why can’t I love you?

It’s January 22nd, 2024; This original country song asks several questions. Why can’t I love you if he won’t? Does he really care for you or pretend? Does he light the passion in your soul? The man in the story is asking a woman he’s interested in, that if she’s not happy would she consider him.

A different angle on this love song

Here’s the twenty-second new music post for 2024, as I continue presenting one of our original songs each day this year. The story is asking if the woman is with the man because of a promise that was made, but if the fire’s gone out of their love, he’s letting her that he’s interested in loving her.

Loving from afar

This song is about something many of us have experienced–love from afar. We witness someone neglect or mistreat another and we imagine how we’d care for (or love) that person better. We may ask the same or similar questions as the protagonist in the song.

He wants to rescue her and perhaps offer her another option. He’s pretty sure she’s not happy with who she’s with.

Story songs

As I dig deeper into Richard’s treasure trove of original songs, I find that a good many are story songs. At least, that’s the term I’ve come up with to explain them. Most of his earlier songs are classified as Country Music. I get that not everyone enjoys Country Music and thus, if someone likes the lyrics and melody, it can be done in another style. I’ve noticed a lot of artists rework prior hit songs in other musical styles because they love the song. A great song can become a hit in multiple genres.

January 21st – Where do your dreams take you?

It’s January 21st, 2024; This original soft country song is about dreaming. Where do your dreams take you? Do you go back to past loves? Do you visit other places? The singer is asking her love if they’re dreaming of another love interest.

A different kind of love song

Here’s the twenty-first new music post for 2024, as I consistently extend to you one of our original songs each day this year. This might be a love song or a vision of a love that is only dreamed of.

Dreams and fantasies

This song asks us to consider our dreams and fantasies. Was she just a twinkle in your eye or is her dream sleeping next to me? She’s heard her love call out another name and this sparks the whole purpose and foundation of the lyrics. Thoughts are deeds in the metaphysical space if you follow biblical or the ‘thoughts become things’ philosophies.

She asks her love to lie down with her in the dream. She wants to be her love’s fantasy.

Unless we control our dreams, say learning about Lucid Dreams, where we can assert some level of awareness within such dreams, how could our love judge us on the words we whisper aloud while we’re dreaming?

Thought control

As I ponder this AI art some more, along with the song, I ask myself, “How much of my thoughts can I control”? I know it’s a goal of meditation to observe my thoughts but control? I do gently guide my thoughts to a better feeling place when I become aware of worry, concern, and unwanted, or negative thoughts. I did not seek to literally control my thoughts though.

I love that Richard wrote this song years ago when he pursued this subject matter. It is fascinating to ponder. Ironically, I do talk in my sleep, though this has become less as I’ve grown older. Maybe meditation and letting go of past hurts have also helped me talk less in my sleep. Now, if I could simply talk less in life. Ha!

January 20th – Because we don’t know anyone

It’s January 20th, 2024; This original song is about testifying and satisfying our needs. I bet it could be understood in different ways. Ask me what you need to know. But I may not reveal everything I know. We all hide things. Secrets. We may not even acknowledge our personal guilt, shame, or sins we’ve committed in the past (and have not been caught).

Here’s the twentieth new music post for 2024, as I consistently extend to you one of our original songs each day this year. This might be a Pop or Rock ballad song. Let me know what you think. It’s definitely NOT Country. It presents a timely topic for us now, with Disclosure coming out on many things (not only UAP/UFO things, but history, political figures, etc.)

Come clean

I see Acceptance as part of Shadow.

Like every experience in our lives, this is personal. I was telling my husband (Richard) at breakfast this morning that someone in my blogging community (who are WOKE) has still not learned to accept without attachment the fact that someone they otherwise love and have followed for years, like J.K. Rowling or Roseanne, can put one wrong tweet out and get them all sensitive and feathers ruffled. And then the ruffled ones stop following their favorite author, blogger, or celebrity, or worse, cancel them and speak ill of them. The jokes on them at that point as karma will bring that back to visit them.

It’s not a hex to face the reality of a situation. It’s a hex to start judging and tampering with things we know not of the full expression yet. And why I was given the statement, We each learn at differing rates of speed. And why we are not yet (perhaps in our glorified bodies one day when we are pure) to judge anyone. It’s not only “judge not” it’s “those without sin, cast the first stone” and no one yet living is pure enough to do that. It’s often those who say “love and light” who do not fully embody unconditional love, unfortunately.

Non-attachment to acknowledge and feel better

As I wrote in my post on January 4th, we are all learning. As I learn, I discern, and yes, I do boycott some businesses, but more because I want to vote with my dollars and align with those who share my ideals today–fully acknowledging their ideals could change tomorrow, or my understanding or perceptions could change tomorrow.

I am wise enough to know there’s no way to fully know another person (per one of my favorite quotes of all time). Those who throw J.K. Rowling or Marion Zimmer Bradley under the bus for perceived wrongs are really missing the boat. I am not condoning hurtful or abusive actions, but one never knows who they are sitting beside. Or what it may do in the future, good or bad.

Six Feet Under quote, “You can’t ever really know a person. If you think you can, you’re living in a f’n dream world.”

I want to come clean and live my life as an open book, which is why I blog. I have a clear conscience. I am the type of person who could not sleep at night if I didn’t have a clear conscience.

Also, I want to express the truth of myself before others spin my stories to suit their purposes. So, I testify here. But I continue to uncover more about my soul, uncover memories of the hurtful past, and perhaps not everyone needs to read about all that. Perhaps it would only bring pain to others to learn of the traumas I experienced.

The kaleidoscope shows all the broken fragments and fractals as ONE. So, for now, I accept the bad with the good. I do what I can to help (like supporting Operation Underground Railroad), pray for “all the captives to be set free,” and write uplifting posts, while acknowledging we aren’t there yet (pure, wholesome, much less perfect).

It’s January 19th, 2024; This original song is about loving again after a heartbreak. Don’t let the past ill-fated relationship get you down. You can do better. The best is yet to come.

A country song about growing apart

Here’s the nineteenth new music post for 2024 as I consistently extend to you one of our original songs each day this year. This might be a sad country song (but with some piano), that offers hope to keep smiling! You can love yourself again, do better, and find a new love under the sun. You can find an angel, Yes! There’s hope! Allow your new love to come smoothly (or not at all). Just keep working on loving yourself until you don’t even miss the one left behind.

After a wreck of a relationship, have hope!

Have hope! Allow God (or the Universe) to bring new love into your life! This could simply be learning how to love yourself more fully, or allowing a new loving relationship in! Most of us have experienced the unconditional love a fur child/pet brings to us, love yourself that same way–unconditionally! Don’t hate yourself for not reaching some imagined state of Perfection. And don’t think because some romantic love left you that you’re unworthy of love–that’s just not true. All are worthy. We can all do better, for ourselves and for others. Life is growth!

Learn the lessons and feel better

I’ve been in that down and depressed place, a state of mind that isn’t helpful. It wasn’t helpful or loving to myself and it sure wasn’t going to attract anyone new into my life! Learning from past relationships allows you to grow and do better for yourself. Have you heard that before? Well, it’s true! I mean, if you want to wallow in self-pity, fine. But that’s not going to bring a new loving relationship that’s best for you into your life.

If it were a perfect world lonely
Be happy no matter what!

I explained yesterday that forgiving yourself and moving on is one of the best ways to find new love again. Actually, you don’t have to FIND it, simply be happy and ALLOW the new love to find YOU! And for Omniscience God’s sake, drop this silly idea of Perfection. There’s no such thing. We each learn (and grow) at differing rates of speed.

May we all soar in ’24!

There is no perfect life, job, childhood, or marriage, etc. There is a perfect God who is able to lead us through this imperfect life though… I call it, Omniscience.

It’s January 18th, 2024; This original song is an honest-to-goodness “cry in your beer” song. It’s a song about getting divorced. Yes, it’s a more “cry in your beer” song than the one I shared yesterday! Don’t listen! Haha! Sometimes I feel these topics lead me into expanding consciousness in reverse. Ha! This is a sad love story where he asks, “If you’re leaving give me one more wish,” to take his heart with her as she leaves through the door. Take the love and trust they built with promises and go. I doubt this would stop someone from leaving, but who knows? Maybe. Would it make you reconsider leaving? Let me know what you think.

If you left, did you take the memories with you?

Have you left a marriage? If so, there were no doubt good and bad memories. Did you take the memories right or wrong with you? Are you still holding a grudge? Do you have sleepless nights due to guilt or regret?

Learn the lessons and let go

I was left once, and then the second time, I was the one to leave. I had to work through the shock and angst over the first marriage ending (though I’d known it wasn’t a good marriage for years). And then after much therapy and counseling, I was the one who left (in the second marriage). Apparently, I’d built up some resilience after the first marriage ended, though I don’t think it made leaving the second guy any easier. Divorce is still the toughest experience I’ve been through (even more difficult than the loss of my parents, and I’m an only child)!

The best part of my first marriage was definitely having my two children. Now, they’re in their forties, and I have three bright and beautiful granddaughters (from my daughter). As for the second marriage, I have more bad memories than good, though I learned a LOT! I learned a great deal about mental health, being gaslit, lied to, manipulated, abused, etc. Not a good scene folks! After that, I’ve always felt I could get through anything! And it’s why I stayed single for more than ten years and wasn’t even too keen on dating again when Richard came along.

I learned to rely on myself more when someone mistreated me. And when I left, I truly understood the power of forgiveness; I understand how powerful I am to be able to choose to “let go.” Let go of that person, cut the cords that had connected us spiritually, and focus on myself and my needs, wants, and desires. This is especially true for anyone who’s lost themselves in the other person. Classic codependency.

I explained some of that yesterday in the snake analogy. No one has to be a victim. And I don’t feel I ever got trapped in victimhood. I always sensed my power, but I did have to get my “ducks in a row” before I could leave. When one has no visible means of support and the paycheck is only enough for half the rent and food, it’s tough to leave and live on one’s own. I sooo get that!

That’s where education and skills training can make all the difference. It’s a lot easier for an educated person to leave a relationship. Or someone who has saved and squirreled away a nest egg to be able to leave. Call it an Emergency Fund. Have a Plan B for your sanity. In fact, I’d say, learning how to save money is another way of treating yourself well. Your diligence in saving money shows you how much you respect yourself.

January 17th – Stone cold

It’s January 17th, 2024; This original song is a different kind of love song, perhaps it is a song about being jilted. Do you think ALL or most people live lives only to love and be loved? Or do you feel there are more undesirable, fake, cheaters in the world? Maybe those people have turned stone-cold toward the world.

Here’s the seventeenth new music post for 2024 as I consistently offer our original songs to everyone. This is a love story where one person has been jilted (he still burns hot for her) or maybe, they’re still together but she’s gone stone-cold (with a cold heart). I think they’re together but she’s a cold fish. She’s fallen out of love with him or has no love left for him. Let me know what you think.

Have you ever loved someone who had a stone cold heart?

Have you burned hot with love for someone but they didn’t love you back in the same way? Perhaps you felt they had a stone-cold heart. I think I’ve been in that situation before, but who can really know? Well, we know by their actions though, right?

A loving heart offers kind and gentle words

I bought several of these stuffed animals for our three young granddaughters a couple of years ago for Christmas. And I watch a lot of Justin’s mental health videos on Facebook. (You can too, just find and follow Chaos & Kindness. There’s about 66k members currently.)

I’m not saying you can win someone’s love by buying them things, but I am saying this was a gesture (on my part) to show our granddaughters how much we love them, as we support a small business that’s local to them (they live far from us). They can snuggle with these bears (or the other stuffed animals and dolls we’ve given them over the years) when we’re not there and think of us. Aww! A loving heart offers expressions of love to others–it’s the thought that counts.

I have had experiences when someone has mistreated me. And when I study the holy scriptures to figure out why, and to forgive them and “let it go,” I find that a loving heart produces kind and gentle words. So, I think the man in the song is living with a mean-spirited woman, perhaps one who has let the world turn her heart stone cold.

I love supporting those who are gentle, kind, and loving. I will put out all the kindness I have in my heart towards others, but if I am consistently hurt or ignored, I have learned to leave them be (leave them alone). I don’t need to keep rattling a snake until it bites me! Haha! Oh, yes, I have learned! If someone snaps once or twice, okay, but consistent bad behavior, wrong-doing, or inflicting intentional hurt is NOT going to win over my affections! I bet most of us feel the same unless you are the kind of person who desires to be hurt or abused (and it’s hard for me to imagine many people like that).

Treat yourself well. Show others that you respect yourself and expect them to treat you accordingly. Do not allow anyone to mistreat or abuse you. You can choose self-respect! The more often you respect yourself watch and see how the world begins to respond better to you.
