Integrating the Spirals: Exploring Hinduism

I told you a fellow blogger and author, Mr. Vijay Kumar Verma who lives in Kolkata, India and writes on his blog site: https://retiredkalam.com/author/vermavkv/ that I was going to publish a post regarding Hinduism, and this is it. I hope it clearly expresses my thoughts on this world religion and does it at least a tiny bit of justice. Though my church affiliation and spiritual philosophy (which includes my recent (2025) return to accepting the living Christ Jesus into my heart) differs some, I have yet to find any reason to make this an us/them kind of post. I adore Hindu people!

“Namaste” is the respectful Hindu greeting that means “The divine light in me honors the divine light in you” and is emblematic of the positive power of direct eye contact. I’ve also heard it means, “The God in me honors the God in you.” And that works for me, since I believe and honor Omniscience God. I took God out of the box decades ago, though I didn’t have much of a way to express that at first.

I use the Namaste greeting quite often when I meet anyone (such as a clerk or store owner) who I discern may be Hindu. They always return the greeting and often smile, knowing that “I see them.” And that I have a bit of knowledge of their culture and/or faith. It always gives me a warm feeling along with the GodBumps sensation sometimes. That’s the feeling I get that often accompanies a sense of shared connections too!

Since I do not consider myself much of an expert at all concerning Hinduism, I thought I would share the following from Subhamoy Das to help us understand and glean some insight:

Perhaps the reason some Hindus feel an affinity for Christ Jesus is that, like their beloved Ganges, He came to earth to cleanse us from sin, and if they are not physically living in a place where they can visit the Ganges easily, they can call upon Jesus for this cleansing?!? As well, Christ Jesus can assist us in feeling this oneness with God (the Almighty OM).

I also find great comfort in chanting the Aum (OM) and do so often either before or after meditation and singing a particular group of biblical Psalms for healing.

One of the reasons I wanted to write this article was because I had recently seen an article on 1440 News that spoke about India’s caste system. And since I believe the USA also has a caste system, but it isn’t named as such, we very much have people that walk by a homeless person and ignore them or even dare I say, think of the homeless as “unclean.” I want to encourage all of us to be more cognizant of our fellow human beings, no matter their financial status. Is that too much to ask?

My spiritual philosophy

I follow and teach the snails path, which came to me since visiting Newgrange and Knowth in Ireland (twice) in 2019. No more dogma for me. Simply based on a knowing that expands gradually of Omniscience God, and observing the fractals of nature and musing about life’s mysteries. Acknowledging that the unseen exists. That every time we deprogram ourselves from one box, we find we’re in another. But the snails path of a never ending spiral prompts us onward. Curiously, I am walking the path with Christ Jesus again and thankfully, no Hindu person has ever made me feel “less than” for doing so. In fact, many Hindu friends and previous coworkers adore Jesus. Ah! God is still good, all the time. ❤️🙏🤗

Integrating the Spirals: Cults

I told you in my last post that I was going to give you some information about the beginnings of NASA in my next post, so here it is. I think I know a thing or two about cults since my church affiliation and spiritual philosophy (which includes my recent (2025) return to accepting the living Christ Jesus into my heart) have been considered cultish by some in the past.

Thus, I turn back to Perplexity.ai to help fill in some blanks.

I asked, “Tell me more about the cult that Jack Parsons, the rocket maker, belonged to in the years leading up to his death. Focus on his connection with L.Ron Hubbard too and the beginnings of NASA.” And here’s what it returned from 15 sources:

Jack Parsons was involved with the Ordo Templi Orientis, the occult system associated with Aleister Crowley’s Thelema, not a single traditional “cult” in the narrow sense. In the years before his death, he became deeply absorbed in ritual magic, especially the Agape Lodge in Pasadena, and his occult life increasingly overlapped with his personal and professional instability.

Parsons and Hubbard

L. Ron Hubbard entered Parsons’ life in 1945, when Hubbard was renting a room at Parsons’ house in Pasadena. Their relationship quickly became entangled in Parsons’s occult ambitions, and Parsons later described Hubbard as participating in the “Babalon Working,” a series of rituals intended to manifest a magical figure called Babalon. Some accounts describe Hubbard as a collaborator; others note that Hubbard later claimed he was trying to protect Parsons and help recover Sara Northrup, who became important in both men’s lives.

What the ritual was

The “Babalon Working” was Parsons’s attempt to use sex magic and ceremonial ritual to produce a mystical incarnation of Babalon, a figure from Crowleyan/Thelemic tradition. Parsons believed these rites had cosmological and spiritual significance, while Hubbard’s later role in the story became part of Scientology’s origin mythology and a source of dispute between Hubbard’s followers and Parsons’ biographers.

Rockets and NASA’s beginnings

Parsons did not found NASA, but he was one of the key early figures in American rocket science and a principal founder of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and Aerojet. JPL’s official history traces its beginnings to the 1930s work of Theodore von Kármán’s rocket group at Caltech, which later moved to the Arroyo Seco and became the basis for JPL. Parsons’s rocket fuels and early propulsion work helped establish the technical foundation that later fed U.S. spaceflight, even though NASA itself was created years after Parsons’s death.

NOTE: JPL is the branch of NASA that often creates and manipulates space images. And they were instrumental throughout the Apollo program. Look at the image maker credit at the bottom (in very small letters on most of the space program images and you’ll see that the image was from JPL). How the occult and science overlapped

Parsons’s story is unusual because his scientific work and occult beliefs were not separate chapters; they coexisted and, at times, reinforced one another in his mind. By the mid-1940s, however, his occult activities, heavy drinking, and household turmoil had damaged his reputation and career prospects, making the magical side of his life more visible than his engineering work.

God is still good, all the time. ❤️🙏🤗

For the record, I am not writing or sharing my spiritual philosophy to start a cult. I grew up raised in a church that many people considered a cult, and I wouldn’t want to brainwash ANYONE or beg them to convert to Christianity for that matter. I would rather work to inform and deprogram people from the mass psychosis that’s been happening for at least the last one hundred years. And to stand for Free Speech and Health Freedom.

An Empath’s Metaphysical Discoveries of Connectedness to ease sadness and loneliness

So, though the title of this post is different than my previous, https://sheilamurrey.net/2026/04/13/a-cure-to-loneliness-a-new-purpose/, but it follows along the same snails path in that it seeks to explain where I’m at in this particular point in time, as per my church affiliation and spiritual philosophy (which includes my recent (2025) return to accepting the living Christ Jesus into my heart).

Robyn Openshaw, (thank you for asking) I’m technically still a member of the Reorganized church, which I talk about in the blog. (I’d sent Robyn my previous blog post, referred to and linked in the preceding paragraph, but she couldn’t open the link.) I don’t practice it though since it changed to Community of Christ. My uncle is a pastor of a branch that meets in a person’s home of the Remnant Church. Yes, it’s another faction, and took its doctrine from the original, with a prophet president of direct lineage to Smith. 

I don’t follow the trends of LDS nor do I know about Michelle Stone. (I’ve since looked her up and apparently she’s been recently shut down by the LDS for speaking a bit too openly on her podcast.)

The blog article (same preceding link) details how one of the Remnant bishops teach apologetics. I’m comparing his teachings with what I learned from Wes Huff last year.

What Robyn asked me

When I’d written that reply to Robyn, I had thought I was answering a private Messenger message. Since it was shared to her Facebook page, I’ll won’t share it (I was going to), but I haven’t asked her permission so I will paraphrase,

“I can’t click the link you sent. Did you start a remnant LDS church or belong to one? I know the name of the Reorganized church changed. I want nothing to do with the origin church. Have you seen the trend among the LDS to deny that the leader practiced polygamy? I think some people need to belong to a church.”

Now, I didn’t rebut Robyn’s statement about Joseph Smith, Jr. and any ties of his to polygamy, but the origin church did not practice polygamy. Polygamy started after Brigham Young took a group of LDS members west. This is recorded in the Reorganized now, Community of Christ church history. Even Perplexity.ai had this to say,

“The Community of Christ, formerly the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, has historically denied that Joseph Smith, Jr. practiced polygamy, and it has taught that plural marriage was introduced later by Brigham Young and others. The historical record tied to that tradition therefore does mention the issue, but mainly as a point of disagreement and denial rather than as an affirmation of Smith’s polygamy.

Over time, some Community of Christ materials and related scholarship have acknowledged that the wider historical evidence supports Joseph Smith’s involvement in plural marriage, even though the church’s older official stance was rejection of that claim.”

Now, that last paragraph came from a site called, The Joseph Smith Papers: https://www.josephsmithpapers.org/intro/introduction-to-journals-volume-2 And in those papers I found this reference, which I presume is what Robyn is referring to, “Several later documents suggest that several women who were already married to other men were, like Marinda Hyde
, married or sealed to Joseph Smith. Available evidence indicates that some of these apparent polygynous/polyandrous marriages took place during the years covered by this journal. At least three of the women reportedly involved in these marriages—Patty Bartlett Sessions
, Ruth Vose Sayers, and Sylvia Porter Lyon
—are mentioned in the journal, though in contexts very much removed from plural marriage.
 Even fewer sources are extant for these complex relationships than are available for Smith’s marriages to unmarried women, and Smith’s revelations are silent on them. Having surveyed the available sources, historian Richard L. Bushman concludes that these polyandrous marriages—and perhaps other plural marriages of Joseph Smith—were primarily a means of binding other families to his for the spiritual benefit and mutual salvation of all involved.”

Now, if my mother had known it was true that Joseph Smith, Jr. had been married to more than one wife, I believe mom would have left the church. This opens another rabbit hole for me to pursue, but one that I tend to doubt I will find an answer for until I reach the Grand Beyond. Thus my next post will answer another question that has come to me on the cult that Jack Parsons, the rocket maker, belonged to in the years leading up to his death. It will focus on his connection with L.Ron Hubbard too and the beginnings of NASA. So, hang on to your seats!
