Movie Review: If not for all the magic, the 8 Harry Potter films would be the most Christian shows we’ve seen in a long time!

I’m thankful to author, J.K. Rowling, for writing the Harry Potter books on which all eight films were based. And while these were intense, and of course, were all about natural magic–including potions, spells, and poison, they were great! So clean! No F-bombs. No sex, okay a bit of “kissing in the halls” kinda teenage stuff, but it wasn’t blatant. And no gays (and if there were–not front and center).

We loved watching all the children age a year or so every single night. Yes, we watched each of the films (one per night) in succession. We enjoyed seeing many of the older actors that we don’t see as much too, like the incredible Maggie Smith (whom we loved in Downton Abbey), Alan Rickman (the character we love to hate from Die Hard), John Hurt, Richard Harris, Robbie Coltrane, Warwick Davis, and Verne Troyer, and how many remained in their roles throughout the 8 films. I loved watching how they changed Emma Stone’s hair throughout, it was a mess in that first movie, much like my long naturally curly hair was when I was that age. And Daniel Radcliffe was good, but one could certainly appreciate how he grew his acting skills along with way. Rupert Grint did a fine job throughout as well, though there were a few times when we weren’t sure he should have been jealous, though that’s “per the script” and direction too, perhaps not his acting choice.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002)

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004)

I’m not anti-gay. But over the years the gayness has increased across the board. It seems now that EVERY movie or TV series we’ve watched in the last 10-20 years has been overrun with gay content. Or perhaps I could say, the gay story lines/content is disproportionate to the amount of gays among us.

Of course, we laugh at Little Britain. We own the DVD series of that British comedy–and we used to laugh at Russell Brand’s audacious stand-up comedy routines too! And my gay friends are funny (hilarious at times in fact!) because they don’t take themselves so seriously. Something I struggle with–taking myself so seriously.

But they’re adults, and we’re adults. I know no one wants to DO adulting, but come on. We know people are people and each have free will to live as they choose and love who they want. We simply don’t want to see gay themes in EVERY SINGLE show. Sorry. We don’t!

We just watched Mark Wahlburg in Balls Up last night and thought it was hilarious–I’ve never laughed so hard during the first five minutes of a movie!!! And there were gay references in it, but Mark scored points for Jesus in it too, and for me, it was a GREAT BALANCE!

Per Google (just now): “Based on global surveys, approximately 3% of adults worldwide identify specifically as gay or lesbian, while around 9% identify as LGBTQ+ overall, according to a 2023 study across 30 countries. The broader LGBTQ+ figure includes bisexual (4%), pansexual (1%), and asexual (1%) identities.” And they do allow for generational differences, regional variations, and data limitations.

I’m simply saying that Hollyweird (Disney, in particular) has gotten to the point where everything, even Star Wars, has gone gay. (Talk about Girls Gone Wild.) Geesh! The Acolyte did no favors for witches (or women) either, by burning them all in that one scene. Ugh! Why can’t we all just get along? As an occultist (one that likes to study the hidden, that does not mean demonic or evil stuff), I was offended!

Mostly, this is why I think Taylor Sheridan has done such a great job on his shows. He’s found a way to balance things. Yes, I know he stretches history. I hear some guys say he emasculates his male characters. I hear the negative rants about Taylor.

But as much as we love The Chosen it was becoming one of the few shows we could watch that was as clean as Harry Potter!

Spoiler alert: As I’ve written about before, I watch a ton of YouTube because even Stranger Things, which I had looked forward to its season 5 for so long–ended on a huge gay note! And speaking of endings, we were SAD when Doby died! Hubby says, “That last Harry Potter flick didn’t have to end that way.”

I’m compassionate and empathic, and I know everyone has a gay member in their family or circle of friends. We do too! Or at least a non-binary, whether they claim to be gay or not (which is none of my business). And I want to support them. But as for the cult-like LGBT+ community, when it was simply LGB I did support them. When they added the T and the plus–which stands for all the other bizarre stuff and wanted the rest of us to think it was all NORMAL… nope!

I wasn’t one to talk about the “slippery slope” stuff either years ago, but now, I see where it HAS been a slippery slope!

We went to Disney once during “gay days” and lived in St. Petersburg, Florida where they love their Pride parades. Well, I have an issue with Pride on the whole anyway, as a concept, and rarely use the word. So no, I don’t go out for those kind of events either.

Bash me. Call me a hater. So be it. You say that like it’s a bad thing. I’m entitled to my opinion just as you are to yours. And I won’t call you a hater, though I may unfriend/unfollow you (and probably will) if we can’t agree to disagree on this one aspect of life. I’ll go back to listening to my Tom Macdonald songs.

Rant, er, review done. Bring on the comments!

Integrating the Spirals – JIGGLE WIGGLE

In my YouTube channel, I encourage those “over 50” to:

  • Open to lifelong learning (observe, gently question, and loosen up pre-conceived beliefs, aka ‘Programming’)
  • Become more aware of our thoughts and emotions to encourage more ease
  • Loosen up and move our bodies (we’re stuck in our heads also due to our “Programming” and physically unhealthy)
  • And become strong and resilient in spirit, soul, mind, and body.
  • And to question EVERYTHING!

From an Analytical Empath: Next Steps on the Metaphysical Path

As we continue along the metaphysical path, that takes us from the knotted center of the spiral onwards and adding space as we go, to the outer bands. This becomes the snail’s path too, the longer we’re on this path. Eventually, we look back to see how far we’ve come and observe the spiral! Thus, you glimpse what I’m talking about when I say, “Integrating the Spirals.” Ha!

When we integrate too fast, or begin to jog along the spiral snail’s path… we can hurt ourselves (as I did in January when I went from dancing to two songs–6 to 7 minutes of movement–to three songs! Ten minutes of dancing was simply too much for me! After all, I’d only been dancing daily for six months. What the heck was I thinking?

I am such a heady person. An analyst. A writer. Philosopher. Intellectual. And I sit a LOT! While my heart wants to love, I can still get stuck from time to time. I talk with folks on Zoom often and type every day, and forget to show my SELF care and love, as I might someone else (like my husband (who lives with me), son (who lives far away), and daughter, granddaughters, and son-in-law who all live next door)!

Doctoring

Thankfully, I had a chiropractor near that I could go see and try to get my body back online (and dance again). But for whatever reason, and though he was doing an aWEsOMe job on my neck, back, and such, I found that my shoulder would feel better, but then I’d have lower back sciatica! Ugh! And then I found this issue with a tendon in my foot (or so I’d thought). After a few more chiropractic sessions, I felt like I needed additional help with the foot.

I looked up “naturopaths near me,” because this is how I practice holism. (Smiling. Just kidding. Well, sort of.) and found my new doctor! I say that because I made an appointment and saw Dr. Paterson yesterday. Wow! He totally impressed me as he did quite a bit of myofascial release and positional release on my L5 spinal area, left knee, and left foot! Here’s his info page that describes some of that along with his story: https://centredownehealth.com/dr-brian-paterson/

Mixing it up

Hubby and I have been watching each of the Harry Potter movies on HBO. (No, we don’t subscribe to HBO, but the family does for a few months a year and we get an account through them.) So, I’ve never read the books, nor seen any of these before. So, now, I’m getting to watch all the child actors age a year or more every night as we view a new film. We’re up to about film #6 at this point. Wow! I can see why kids became so enraptured by these stories! How creative and imaginative is J.K. Rowling!?! Amazing!

Yesterday and today I had the JOY of meeting and talking with Gina Virginia Casella. We recorded a podcast conversation yesterday, so I’ll have a link from that to share here with you soon, as well as a gemstone reading (Gina’s own discovery – and you can see more here: https://buymeacoffee.com/ginavirginiacasella/) to uncover if/where I had any issues going on (and I do!) in, through, or around me.

Using metaphors, Gina offers ideas and then it’s up to me to know or feel how they may apply to my life currently. I’m sure a reading like that might change daily as our lives move on. It’s a bit like receiving a tarot reading.

Oh, and speaking of tarot, in my book club I learned that another participant has written a book, so I ordered it! Laurie Watts-Amato wrote a book to help us read our own tarot cards. It’s on Amazon and is called, Tarot Insights – and here’s the link: https://amzn.to/4vMdYsj

Lastly, for my Christian readers, I watched a couple of dynamite videos that I think you will LOVE!

I’ve followed Russell Brand for YEARS. I used to love his Under the Skin podcast and YouTube channel interviews and comedic take on the news. I know he’s evolved now, and while I questioned at first, why he chose Catholicism when he accepted Christ Jesus, I knew he would eventually let us in on his story and he has. Thus, I bought Russell Brand’s new book (How to become a Christian in 7 Days), on Kindle, and I’m reading a bit of it each night before I fall asleep. It’s been fantastic so far, AND bonus with it, I’m learning some new words! And yes, Russell tells us as we read along what those words mean, which is GREAT! Here are the links: https://youtu.be/ISETUBf6aoo?si=zEoRKY1z61BdGfPs

And someone new to me, Tim Alberino expounds upon a fascinating journey through Bible times and talks about giants here: https://youtu.be/CiQTBOQ1dTg?si=Cqil8CJbBQoZmRGs

I know I’ve given you several links already, but as I only found out this morning and had this post in draft prior, let me add one more. David Wilcock has purportedly taken his own life. While many of us who have watched David for YEARS (mostly on Gaia TV), it’s hard to believe–we know these things can happen to anyone. Circumstances in life, body pain, or foul play can happen anytime, anywhere. I’m sharing this video to honor and respect the sensitive man, the parapsychology teacher, and the astounding researcher David was: https://www.youtube.com/live/VbXvRyKeWp8?si=dOnA8Zv_ijOGaHHb Blessings to David’s friends and family at this sad time.

If you’re still here, I’d ask for prayers and loving vibes to be sent along to our author friend and blogger pal, Michael in the UK (https://peacefulrampage.wordpress.com) for his family too.
