It’s February 16th, 2024; This original song is about throwing it ALL into the wind. It’s quite a different sound for us musically, too! If your better half is better off without you or if your passion for your beloved is gone. If your love for a friend is up in the air or you question the friendship. Maybe you feel alone, but wait! You can find your way back again.

Here’s the forty-seventh new music post for 2024, as I consistently share an original song each day of the year. When your lover’s embrace hides a cold steel heart or when you doubt their words, like broken promises–you’ve thrown it all in the wind.

If you don’t think you’ve got a friend

Doubt can kill, or if not kill, can put a stranglehold on any friendship or relationship. Doubt always seems to grow too! If you don’t think you’ve got a friend, you’re probably right. Well, at least it’s a fifty-fifty shot that you’re right.

Sometimes it’s better to just walk away, throw it all in the wind, and be done. But wait! Why not give yourself a chance to approach the situation logically first? Understand that while you’re in ‘fight or flight’ mode, the amygdala in your brain will keep you from thinking rationally.

Try this little process:

  • Give yourself some time to cool down
  • Allow your emotions to calm down (do some EFT / Tapping or other energy psychology if needed–I used to teach EFT and linked to my previous article on it)
  • Make a list (mental or on paper) pros and cons of the friendship (be rational)
  • Check-in with your heart

What does your heart feel about this person? Perhaps giving them another chance is appropriate. But if you’ve already given the person several (or many) opportunities to prove themselves (and the worth of the relationship to you), okay. You have probably reached the end. And often it is better to part as friends, with at least some good feelings, than to wait until the situation becomes unbearable.

Integrating the Spirals: Prerequisites

Introducing a DE-Program course I developed in 2020 and am offering again now, Integrating the Spirals™. This post goes into the prerequisites for the course; the things one needs to do first before joining. If you would rather listen instead of read, play the audio:

Good morning, good afternoon, and good evening, wherever you are in the world.

First things first

What you need to know before we begin the DE-Program Integrating the Spirals.

Prerequisites

  • Make a list of anything you want to work on: incorporating more movement into each day, following through on your To Do lists, getting out of overwhelm, stop procrastinating, break habits, set goals, write a book, organize your closet, move, downsize, live off-grid, rid yourself of anxious thoughts, sleep better, feel less lonely, and so on.
  • Pull all of your previously purchased books, programs, current recurring subscriptions, and favorite authors (list them), favorite speakers (spiritual/motivational/philosophical)
  • Make a commitment to this process and set everything else aside (put current courses on hold if at all possible). We will be working on prioritizing our projects and commitments in this DE-Program so a clean slate is advised (at least for the first two weeks)

Our goals

  • Move out of fear and struggle
  • Ease angst and the need to Control the actions of others
  • Honoring our selves (what we really want)
  • Honoring our ancestors (lineage, homeland)
  • Listen to ourselves (to find understanding, self compassion, and healing)
  • Listen to others intently with presence to learn how you can serve them
  • Drop self criticism and blame (and offer that gift to others as they are open to receive)
  • Organize our own thoughts and priorities to sleep better at night and accomplish more each day
  • Release overwhelm and unworthiness
  • Bloom where we are planted or move to where we are celebrated (Be the Change)
  • Nurture yourself and Nature (Plant a tree or something, walk barefoot)
  • Ease apathy
  • Live in Gratitude

About the Integrating the Spirals meetings

Working the Integrating the Spiral DE-Program, lifts us out of negative self-talk, breaks us of some of the triggers that get us riled up, brings in more calm and ease, and connects us with others of like-mind.

Connecting with our ancestors, will improve the relationships that we have because we’re gonna get a lot more peace and understanding and gratitude in us for our ancestors. We wouldn’t be here without them. This will also help you feel totally supported. You’re never alone because your ancestors are always there always in your blood. So in a sense, they’re always around you even if you don’t or can’t or won’t see them spiritually yet.

The universe always has your back because you live in it. You’re part of it. You’re a layer of the onion within the onion.

Omniscience God, God Omniscience

You’re a fractal of Omniscience because you’re always a part of something bigger. You are not separate from it. Your Connectedness to yourself and All-There-Is Omniscience is Holism. We use the directions. We use the elements. We will use what we have and learn how to integrate it INTO our daily lives.

This isn’t a course it’s going to try to sell you other stuff.

You’re going to walk away with epiphanies each time. One recent attendee said, “this course opened something inside of me.”

This DE-Program course is a combination of counseling, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), body movement, breathwork, meditation, and process management. One could say it’s a holistic, 360 degree full circle time management course. Or a holistic organizational behavior course. One could call it different things because it is more about opening you to YOU than other programs that, well, PROGRAM you!

Integrating the Spirals: Integrating Nature

Imagine this:

You are a seed planted in the dark earth. Little by little things around you begin to inform you. Everything you hear, smell, taste, touch, and see. Yes, as a seed you have physical senses!

You grow and expand day by day until you eventually burst up and out through the dirt into the light!

Every time you got fertilized (shit on), it served you. Every one of these things stimulated your becoming, your growth. These triggers could have pissed you off or make you mad. And without understanding the cause of those events, you grew up but without a clue as to how or why. You only knew you did. And that you exist.

You knew up was warm and bright. You knew down was dark and cold. You knew nothing else. But still you grew.

You are still growing as you read this, and here’s the key. We all are still growing. And everyone grows at differing rates of speed.

Did you appreciate the dirt? In the winter the seed experiences the opposite. Up is cold and bright. Down is dark and warm!

Can you take a 360 degree view of your life NOW from that perspective and allow your observations to expand your consciousness a bit?

That’s what this course does. It opens you for expansion. Are you ready?

Layers, levels, degrees, and doses

We Are ALL Connected and the decisions of others can and do tug, push, or pull us to the degree we ALLOW. I still believe in personal responsibility because if I influence someone to higher or lower frequency level—I am culpable. Each of us are a layer within the onion, not the whole onion. Good morning, good afternoon, and good evening, wherever you are in the world.

Video introductions

I wanted to include in this post a video that I just shared on Tik Tok. I created this DE-Program and its accompanying introductory video in 2020. It was the pandemic time; It was COVID lock-down time. We were living off-grid in the RV that we owned at the time. We’ve since sold. I was out walking barefoot in the sand. I’ve also posted that video. I guess I can include that as well on this. Just to show you what I was doing. And I was doing this almost every day. Barring the rain, or when the idiot (who you will hear in this video) decides to roar his engine and big truck tires down our dirt road. Imagine hearing that noise on a dirt road, I mean–craziness! But whatever, right? Live and let live. And yeah so when he wasn’t interrupting or when he wasn’t out… he almost hit me one day (that’s really why I’m triggered by him probably more than the noise) and just thinking that he’s the only one in the world. Nobody else’s lives in the neighborhood, or matters. There he goes in his big old pumped up (jacked up) 4×4 pickup truck and goes roaring down the street. Sometimes several times a day, sometimes only a couple times a week.

So anyway, I would just rest on my Faith, right? Not be in fear that I would get out there and walk barefoot in the sand and this is one of the results from those walks. I call it Integrating the Spirals now it was integrated spiral when it first dropped into my mind but the talk goes something like this I’ve shortened it to a bit too–since the 45-minute video that went on Facebook in 2020, almost nobody responded to. So the talk goes like this: (Sorry, WordPress wouldn’t allow me to embed a .MOV file, so I had to embed it from TikTok and hope you can watch it whether you have a TikTok account or not).

The Talk

Raise your hand if you’ve ever felt held back from sharing your innermost thoughts and feelings on social media. And raise your hand if you’re open to learning simple ways to naturally attract your ideal clients and fans. Sharing your truths is key here and Justin Spencer of chaos and kindness is a prime example for this (the band name is Recycled Percussion if you’re familiar with any of those names). Justin is a prime example. In the area of WoW, motivation entrepreneurship working his ass off since he was 14 or 15 something like, or maybe even younger. And mental health he’s a huge advocate for helping people with their mental health. But like me, he’s not a doctor or a practicing medical professional. So we can only do what we can do right if you need to hear your stuff from a 10-year. schooled Pharma indoctrinated person professional, have at it. But they’ve only caused me issues in my life. I’ll just put it that way. It’s the nicest way that I can possibly say it.

Moving out of fear and struggle

I’m here to share with you how to move out of fear and struggle. I’ve been married three times I’ve raised two children. They’re adults now both in their 40s believe that or not? Yes, I started young. But mostly as a single mom. I got them grown up–whatever you want to call it. I was always working. I was always going to school. I held a mindset, though of struggle. And I was challenged by my second ex-husband who had so many issues he was he’d been fired a gun in my direction one day. And yeah, he was an addict. But through all that, I got to go to a lot of self-help recovery-type programs, group therapies, and such. So you know, always a silver lining.

Dark night of the soul

At one point I nearly committed suicide because I kept making poor choices, and I could hardly make my way out of that spiritually dark place. Even after that, years later, I was faced with a job loss and health crisis previously mentioned about how I lost my faith in the medical profession. The traditional one. That was back in 2004 and 2005. It challenged everything I knew about medical doctors working for corporations and even the law-our justice system is so screwed (thinking back to my cousin’s murder last year).

Honor your innermost being

The teaching point here is to honor your innermost being your inner think inner versus the outer world. Listen, listen to yourself, listen to your body. Meditate. Focus on that breath in. Bring it into as many places and spaces in your body as you can muster. Hold it when you’ve taken in every last little eek bit of air. Just hold it for a few seconds count if you like and then exhale, but exhale for longer than you breathe in. So you would take your breath, let’s say to a count of four, five, or six, whatever you like. Hold it for three, maybe then exhale for 7, 8, 9, 10 and the experts, whether we call them Yogi’s gurus or whatnot, they say if you can make your exhale as silent as possible, you’ve mastered it. You want to make your breath as silent as possible.

Integrating the Spirals

Speak to yourself

So, speak, talk to yourself, record yourself. If you don’t have a partner to talk with. So why might you want to take integrate the spirals? Why might you want to take this course Why do you want to work with me? You don’t know me, right? Even if you know me, do you trust me? Well, for more than 30 years, I’ve been a business analyst means that my brain is always working. I’m always analyzing stuff. It means simply though, I listen. And I ask questions and then I document what I hear back and I run that back by the folks that I just interviewed. And then make sure I captured things correctly, make changes as needed, et cetera. It’s a process. I’m really good at processes. I elicit responses. I’ve been asked in interviews. Well, how do you do that? Well, a lot of it is asking pertinent questions, and staying in the flow of the conversation so that you’re not asking some silly stupid question that doesn’t make a hill of beans worth of sense. To somebody who’s just poured out their heart to you, you know, you want to stay on point on the topic. Be with them and be present. That’s really the key to that.

Listen to yourself and others intently

Be so good at listening, that you can pick up the repetitive words people use. That’s so key. Listen for the repetitive words. I know those words tell so much of what that person is thinking. I know we can ascertain different outcomes by changing these words because we SAY what we THINK. It’s in us. There’s that inner world stuff again. Right? We’ve been saying these words to ourselves, for the first four years. You know, who is that observer in you? Who’s that person that’s in that voice in your head that that’s in there talking all the time, right? That person that’s saying, I don’t know if I want to do that. I don’t know if I want to go there. You know those words. That person (talking in your head) is the judging person. It’s your inner critic. People have said it’s the dark angel on your shoulder, versus the light one. The Light Angel is suggesting good things, positive stuff, uplifting stuff for you to do today. Well, that Dark Angel, that’s the one that’s saying he or she or you, is an idiot. Don’t call yourself that. You’re just unlearned at that moment. Even when I call the loud driver, the guy in the truck an idiot. That’s because I’m triggered that’s coming from a lower point in my vibration. So he’s really not an idiot person. Let’s hope not anyway because he got a license somehow. We assume so. And he’s driving. So he has hands and feet that work right–even though he tried to run me down.

Criticizing and judging never works

Anyway, all that criticizing and judgment stuff. That will never work. It’s just not helpful. That I can’t when I make poor choices, dammit. To Die For. How many times you hear people say, “This is so good; This food is so delicious it’s to die for”? Don’t say that. Just don’t do that. Stop that. And when you hear people say this phrase what? When they say, “Who do they think they are?” We’re your inner critic saying that to you? Who do you think you are? Right? You’re, you know, a pretty smart person. And you have options and you have choices and the world is your oyster kind of thing. Right? So all those words that are stuck inside of you, it becomes overwhelming. Who do we think we are? Well, I’ll tell you who I am. I’m spirit wrapped in an earthly plant. Based body.

What are we made of?

I am really plant nature-based (in this body) whatever you want to call it. I’m an animal, I guess I’m part animal, part plant, but I’m definitely part of the plant world. I’m part of the natural world. I wasn’t machined in a factory. So I’m natural. This body that I inhabit is natural. I am a spirit. I’m from somewhere else. The great Yeshua or Jesus the Christ or the person that you know of whom I’m speaking the man from Nazareth in Galilee, who walked and talked and taught people 2000 years ago. He said that to be in the world, not of the world. And that used to be as a child one of my favorite scriptures to meditate on at night after the nighttime prayer. I would just lay there thinking what does that mean that only differences a couple of very short words and in you know, be in it, but not have it like you’re not of this world? You didn’t know, it’s a very deep vast chasm. When you fall into that thinking and meditate on that. What does that really mean?

When stuck in overwhelm or unworthiness

So, if you’re stuck in overwhelm if you’re stuck in unworthiness, that’s a big one, everybody at those AA meetings and recovery-type meetings is always unworthy, always feeling unworthy. unworthiness is always at the bottom of everything, every place where they get to eventually, there’s always guilt or shame, one or the other, both. But all the shit they did that they felt bad about. Probably shouldn’t have done it, but they get stuck in victimhood, too. That’s a big one, right? Victimhood, blaming stuff on everybody else because why? You don’t want to change. You don’t want to do anything about it. You want to remain just as you are and make the whole world around you change. Yeah, that’s what all the wars are fought about. Or imposter syndrome. Impostor Syndrome. That’s, that’s good too because that’d be like me writing a holistic health book. Right when I’m not a doctor. Am I an imposter? Apathy, apathy is huge. Goes back to that. I don’t give a shit attitude and I don’t want to change but I want the whole world to change to suit me. Never going to happen, folks. Wake up. Big lightbulb moment for you there if you thought you were gonna try to control anything around you.

Apathy

How about the “F-U-C-K that,” right? How about that? That’s right, walking hand in hand with apathy. They’re right. Just not giving a shit; not giving a crap; not given a care, right? And I’m not saying hey, there’s right and wrong to these things. Sometimes it’s good to sit with some of these things. It’s healing you know, you’re letting your feelings rise, cry, let it out. Heal. So all we’re doing we’re all we’re doing is excavating here running a big bulldozer or ditch witch or whatever kind of machinery you’re familiar with a shovel is over you and your mind and your mindset so that you can shake things up and get rid of some you know, just shake the dust off the dirt out, unclutter your mind and help you gain more sense of purpose and balance. help your body heal when you can really some of these negative critical thinking thoughts critical as in you being critical of yourself.

So what might change for us in our lives in our businesses, if we said God bless it instead of Damn it, you know, or I love it instead of effort. Right? Just bless it as God bless it that guy and big loud truck this will all makes sense when you watch the video on town. Yeah, I didn’t have it. planned. I didn’t pay the guy. He was right on cue. It was the synchronicity I mean, it was just so undeniable that that was a synchronicity. It felt right in line with what I was talking about being triggered, and, and he was a trigger for me. I admit it. I have. I have no guilt or shame in admitting that.

Blooming

We can bloom where we’re planted. That’s a good phrase to say to oneself every day I can bloom where I’m planted. One I’ve been saying to Richard a lot lately is, “We’re gonna go where we’re celebrated, not tolerated.” Because I have a feeling that some people just quit caring and you know, they were just tolerating us (for the money we spent while we were out with them. Maybe?). So that’s okay. You know, everybody’s got their own gig, right? Go where you’re celebrated, baby. I mean, let’s spin it to the positive. Every challenge is a barometer. That’s what it is. Look up what a barometer does, when you’re when it’s reading the weather, you know? It’s gonna show us if we’re living our truth, that’s what all these words are doing. They’re showing us if we’re living our truth, and if you’re not thinking first you’re reacting. Okay?

About the Integrating the Spirals meetings

So Integrating the Spirals. I’m thinking about doing these Zoom calls on Sundays from 1pm to 3pm. Tuesdays from 5pm to 7pm, although that’s our dinner time. We’ll change things up one day a week (as for our dinner time) so I have time for this. This DE-Program, if you like that particular time frame, these are Eastern Time Zone times. Or Fridays from 6pm to 8pm. Or I could do anytime on Saturdays.

Let me know in the comments if you’re interested in joining me for this course, initially, since we’re essentially beta testing this right now, I’m thinking there won’t be any charge to it. If you’ll do me a favor. Can you spread the word, share this out? Share this message and tell some people about it. That’d be great.

I also think I want to do a sliding scale in the future when I do charge for this. Let me know what you think about that too. I’m thinking we’ll charge maybe $10 a session, or $25 to $60 for the whole course (but pay as you feel led or what you can afford). And it’s probably going to be take four sessions, but I’m thinking of making it five or six and spreading it out a little because it’s a lot of information. And the whole point is to integrate it in. I just don’t want people to buy things or spend any money at all. Don’t send me one dime if you’re not going to integrate this because that’s the whole point.

We do this course because we all have the books! (And the programs, and the coaches, etc.) I’ve downsized as much as I possibly felt I could but I still have a library of two medium-sized Rubbermaid totes full of books, and then a few more on top of that, so I probably have 30 or 40 books still in paperback and hardcover. I’ve moved as much as I can to Kindle and my Books app. I’ve always got between six and 12 books that I’m reading in progress at any given time, mostly for research for writing the blog and for my books in progress/planned.

Connecting

Anyway, let me know about Integrating the Spiral because this is useful as a book writing process as well. Just learning the DE-Program, getting out of the negative self-talk, and breaking some of the triggers that get us riled up, to bring in more calm and ease and connecting. I didn’t even talk about this yet. Connect. Connecting with our ancestors, will improve the relationships that we have because we’re gonna get a lot more peace and understanding and gratitude in us for our ancestors and we wouldn’t it be here without them. So feel your pulse feel. Know that their blood runs through your veins this will help connect you and it’ll also help you feel totally supported. You’re never alone because your ancestors are always there always in your blood. So in a sense, they’re always around you even if you don’t or can’t or won’t see them spiritually yet. The universe always has your back because you live in it. You’re part of it. You’re a layer of the onion within the onion.

Omniscience God

God Omniscience. You’re a fractal of omniscience because you’re always a part. You’re always a part of it. So it doesn’t exist separate from you. And your connectedness to yourself. That inner critic, the inner being inside of you, your spiritual nature, your soul that’s in your blood, all of that is key, and it’s really holism that’s what I’m teaching is Holism we use the directions we use the elements. We use crystals that you don’t have to use any of that because once you know it, and once you know about it, you can go anywhere and walk anywhere and do anything and these things will either be presented to you or pictures of them or humans. They’re just going to be there. They’re going to be out in nature. So don’t worry about that. This isn’t a course it’s going to try to sell you other stuff.

You’re going to walk away with epiphanies each time. It’s a kind of combination of counseling, and EFT the Emotional Freedom Technique. I used to teach that for a very long time at a Wellness Center. So you get some of that. You get me as a shaman or a witch doctor or however you want to look at me. We’re going to talk about holistic lessons on how to improve our life and our health. I just codified my lessons learned from life, from work, and I let my spirit totem butterfly push me out of my cocoon to live a wholly vibrant life.

A seed was planted in the dark earth imagine it starts to burst up and out through the dirt into the light, so every time you get shit on, somebody triggers you, somebody pisses you off and makes you mad. They’re stimulating you. They’re stimulating your growth. Imagine the dirt, the manure, whatever you want to imagine, around you as the little seed and all you got to do is just be you just be the seed, and when the light warms up the ground, you know where the light is versus going into the cold darkness of the deeper Earth. You’re gonna rise UP, you’re gonna rise to the occasion and reach for that light for that warmth. And you’re growing. We all are and we all grow at differing rates. of speed. I say that a lot.

Here’s the thing about integrating if you change one habit daily, think about that one habit. I didn’t just say do something once a day, but you’re changing a habit every day that’s 365 days in the year 365 new habits Who do you think you’ll be at the end of the year? So this course encourages you to make additional healthy choices. Even if you make 300 By the end of the year, even if you made 200, or 150 new habits. Who are you going to be at the end of the year? We Are ALL Connected and the decisions of others can and do tug, push, or pull us to the degree we ALLOW. Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

Quite simply, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) cured my addiction/habit of finger skin-picking/chewing. And I believe my story might help others, so I feel compelled to share it. You might wonder what I mean by “picking my fingers.” Years ago I quit biting my fingernails, but I only traded that habit for something less. The main cause of the “picking” had not been addressed.

I bought a book called, Tapping the Healer Within because my acupuncture doctor had told me about it, and because I had tried everything else. I found that book a bit convoluted and besides, it mostly dealt with phobias and anxieties – neither of which I thought I had. More importantly, it was difficult for me to hold the book and try to tap on my body with my other hand. Or maybe that was only my excuse – but the book, though interesting to me, wasn’t enough to help me.

A few weeks before my personal EFT visit with a local therapist, my encouraging hubby and I watched a mind-expanding show on TLC called, I Can Make You Thin. One of the episodes showed the host using EFT to help people overcome their food cravings. Because I had also tried everything to lose weight, I decided that I really needed some one-on-one personal guidance with that, as well as my finger skin-picking habit.

At about that time, I met an EFT practitioner named, Janice Cunningham (Health Quest Titusville, Florida). I was eager to get in for an appointment. During a 2.5-hour session (on a Saturday) with Janice, I described both of my issues fully. By the time we’d wrapped up our session, I found a total resolution to some deep-seated wrong mental programming, and amazingly, I had the best night’s sleep that I’d had in years that night! I guess I had not even realized that my sleep pattern had also been an issue.

My appointment with Janice also greatly helped me to release the finger skin-picking addiction. Janice and I spent nearly two hours going back into my past, into my former marriage, teenage years, and finally, childhood years. I realized that I had picked up my habit of fingernail-biting at the same time asthma began – when I was six years of age. My mom had always been a terrible nail-biter, biting right down into the quick, so I knew I’d picked up the habit from mom, I simply had not realized how much of a connection there was between that habit, my asthma, and my mom.

Example of finger picking on side of my ring fingernail. Yes, sometimes it still occurs when I watch something too intense in a TV show/movie–so perhaps I am not 100% “cured” but I have a LOT more awareness around it and do not continue to pick once I become aware that I’m doing it.

I realized fully during my session that when my mom’s father died, my grandfather, the sadness surrounding his death deeply affected me. When I was six years of age, coincidently, I received an asthma diagnosis. You’ll recall I had explained earlier that my grandfather had died at home after being in the hospital for cancer surgery. They sent him home with the understanding that the doctors had done all they could do. At least my grandfather died at home.

As an aside, one of the things my mother always said was to stay away from hospitals if possible. I think she had heard about people who went to the hospital and died from some infection (like Sepsis) or had the wrong procedure done! My mother’s fear of the hospital was not lost on me. The important thing about that experience for me though, was that even though I was a child, I had a deep connection to my grandfather’s passing, mostly due to how upset my mom was during that time. And because I was thoroughly connected to my mother emotionally.

My mama was very upset about losing her father. She and I, at that time, felt that death was the end. And though our religious belief was that we would see him again in the afterlife, we suffered greatly at the time of his death and for weeks after. I vividly recall believing if she could lose him, I could lose her. And there was no way I could live – I wouldn’t be able to breathe, in fact – without my mom. Knowing what I know now, I hard-wired that grief right into my lungs, because of the emotional charge involved in that event, due to my vivid recall of it.

My EFT session felt like counseling and hypnosis (though I was awake and totally aware of what was happening) as though Janice was talking to me on a deep level. During the session, Janice recommended I take some notes, both of the things I was becoming aware of and how to run through this process again on my own. The following is an account of the written notes I made: 

  • I couldn’t breathe without my mom.
  • I always had tried to “save my mom.”
  • I am not my thoughts.
  • My perception influenced my thoughts but my perceptions were wrong. 
  • The genie is out of the bottle.
  • I do not need the old thoughts.
  • Am I the thought or the awareness?
  • Am I “this” thought, or am I the awareness of “this” thought? 
  • Who sent “this” thought? (My pain body)
  • Examine “this” thought. It will probably be a limiting thought, a no-win thought, and one that would eventually bring pain. 
  • To let go of “this” thought: 1) focus on the feeling of my breath in and out, 2) be the observing presence.
  • When I only observe, I suspend space.
  • Inspiration = In spirit, and inspiration fills me, lights me up from the inside – the same as when someone is in creative mode you feel the creative energy inside, in your heart/chest not in the head area.
  • The Aha moment is when the head agrees to the inner knowing.
  • My habit of biting my fingernails = my fear and anxiety linked to my feeling of not being able to fix/help/save my mom. 
  • Something that can trigger asthma in my body is when I face something I can’t do anything about; when I feel a sense of powerlessness.

Through this experience and the many more that followed, I learned we tend to hold fear as a sort of security blanket. I don’t know why, as I think that is the root cause of most of our suffering. And the Buddhists and Taoists believe and teach that also.

This is also a reason I bring up the topic of God and spiritual things in this book. Our beliefs—whether we have hope or not and if we believe this Universe is friendly or not—have a lot to do with how each of us feels bodily.

You may not think fear is the same as a person who is negative all the time, but I would wager that a person who is consistently afraid of this thing or the other, is a person who puts a lot of emphasis on protecting what they think belongs to them. Some might call that kind of person a control freak. They may be a person who lives for “things” and is a pack rat or hoarder. They may also be the kind of person who suffers because of all the things and people to whom they are attached. There’s a lot of healing in letting go, of people, places, and things. And you can’t take any of it with you when you transition (or pass away) from this life to whatever comes next.

The Bible in the book of Philippians has a verse that instructs us to think about whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, excellent, or praiseworthy. And the author of those words, Paul, said that as we think these thoughts the God of peace will be with us. I used to encourage my mother to focus on these things—and during her last two or three years, if not more, she did, because she was always in gratitude during our last visits.

Janice used EFT in a compassionate and caring way. The end result of the two hours for my fingers was every difficulty my mom had ever had, in her marriage, health, etc. I felt as though I needed to help her, or ‘SAVE’ her. Though mom had a very strong faith in Jesus, it was always something I had felt – that I needed to save her. Once we broke this down and got to this deep-seated REASON for my habit, so many other things lifted within my mind and body as well. I can’t say enough wonderful things about EFT. If you think you’ve tried everything to find relief from anxiety, depression, weight issues, nerve problems, etc. I implore you to seek out an EFT therapist in your area. You do not need to “believe in it” for it to work for you. And what do you have to lose?

Over the years, I took the words attributed to Jesus in the Bible about “saving people” to mean, “love people.” For I am not responsible for saving anyone else or even making them happy. However, the cells of my body hold me accountable for making myself happy (it feels good when I align with my Soul) to keep my Temple (Mind and Body), healthy. I can love my enemies, but I don’t have to live with them!

Thus, because I am a super responsible person – I’m supposed to do something. (This is the conflict that causes the habitual negative behavior). And because I have an analytical mind, I often find my thoughts at odds with the evidence-based medicine that is predominantly used in hospitals, as I believe the evidence of healing I’ve experienced is true too—anecdotal experience is real and is true! 

I relied on prayer, EFT, breath work, reflexology, and all kinds of alternative methods to calm and help myself think clearly when my husband was in the hospital in October 2022. I was dumbstruck how little the hospital staff communicated with each other, even though they wheeled a computer into the room with them each time! I found myself telling each doctor, intern, resident, specialist, and nurse who came into the room to see my husband most all of the same things because they did not relay the information to each other. Since I am a business analyst in Information Technology by trade the lack of appropriate information handoffs I witnessed was alarming!

p.s. I used to teach EFT at a Wellness clinic in St. Petersburg, Florida and I have lectured on the benefits of EFT at several events. I am planning on offering some general introductory EFT sessions via Zoom if anyone is interested in participating–let me know in the comments.

Women, Wine, and Wellness Brevard

I joined the local chapter of Women, Wine, and Wellness in Cocoa, Florida to launch my new business, on October 7, 2019!

I attended last month’s event as a spectator and so enjoyed it, that I wanted to attend again anyway. So happens that the timing was perfect for me to grab a vendor table and announce my new mind, body, spirit, soul-aligned business!

Lauren Thew and Kali Bernardo have given me much business and entrepreneurial advice. And I am in awe of how elegantly they run this chapter. Kudos, ladies! ❤️🦋🌀

Why are you upset?

Upset? Why?

Why are you upset?

Well, as a highly sensitive person (HSP) and empath, I just learned today that, “You are only upset about someone else’s disturbance when you CONNECT with the negative Energy of their experience”! ❤️🦋🌀

It seems simple.

It seems I have heard something like that before. Or that at my age, I should have known that. Hmmm. I will meditate on that statement (sit with it) for a few days, and then update this post.

Choice

I know why I’m upset if someone does or says something TO me, and I know it’s my choice as to how I react. Some people laugh stuff off, but not me. I take stuff seriously. Ugh!

I know it’s my choice about how I react to external situations, but sometimes the emotions overwhelm me to the point that my logic doesn’t work. I use EFT to calm myself during those times, but I would prefer to feel less upset, especially when whatever the situation is has NOTHING to do with me!

Always a choice
It’s always a question of choice – ALL ways.

Until today, I couldn’t figure out why I let other people’s negative experiences bother me. When someone is sad or hurting, I empathize.

Why choice? It’s human nature to struggle for our independence. Even my twin granddaughters (who love each other very much), fuss and fight because each wants to live an independent life.

Why today?

I listened to Alania Starhawk’s lunchtime Facebook Live message and the statement in the image above just dropped into my mind!

Yes, whatever triggers a negative emotion in me, was already IN me! And at the moment of sensing the trigger, I have the ability to become conscious. When I am consciously aware, I can choose to soothe the past trauma or wound and make a better choice!

I’ve got this! And so do you.

Using Emotional Freedom Technique

I believe any changes you are seeking to make in your life begin in your mind. That old saying, “I’ve made up my mind” has been around for a long time for a reason. Also, ever notice how many times a day you say, “I think…” in a conversation?

We are thinking every moment of our lives. Everything we feel and do starts first with our thoughts. So, I challenge you, to try to be aware of the thoughts you are thinking and see how many are limiting ones, or thoughts, that if you just “let go of” might make you feel better.

It works like this: a thought comes, then the feeling associated, then an action. Contemplate this.

This post is focused on something called Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT).

How it began

In April of 2008, I met with Janice Cunningham at HealthQuest in Titusville, Florida to see if we could stop me from a lifelong habit/addiction of picking (and/or chewing) my fingers. I previously had been a “nail biter” but an ex-husband broke me of the habit by smacking my hand anytime he caught me with it near my mouth. Yes, negative reinforcement works – to a point – but it wasn’t such a pleasant way! Meeting with Janice was the BEST $125 I EVER spent (up until that point) because aside from my body being cured of the addiction, my body also experienced other profound affects from just one EFT session!

I highly recommend Janice to everyone who is ready to work through their own “issues.”

You may be wondering what I mean when I say that I had been “picking my fingers.” So, it seemed that I only traded my bad habit of nail biting for something less noticeable. I was pulling at my cuticles, hang nails or any other rough areas of skin around my finger nails.

In 2007, I bought a book called, “Tapping the Healer Within” because my acupuncture doctor, Joan Massey (also from HealthQuest) had told me about it, and because I had tried everything else. I found that book to be a bit convoluted and besides, it mostly dealt with phobias and anxieties – neither of which I thought I had. More importantly, while reading the book, I found it too difficult to hold the book and try to tap on my body with my other hand. Or, maybe that was just my excuse – but the book, though interesting to me, wasn’t enough to help.

A few weeks prior to my personal EFT visit, my husband and I watched a show on the TLC television channel called, “I Can Make You Thin.” On the show, the host using EFT to help people overcome their food cravings. Because I had also tried everything to lose weight, I decided that I really needed some one-on-one personal guidance with both my weight issues and the finger picking habit. And much to my delight, after a 2.5 hour session with Janice, where I fully described both of my issues, I found resolution to some deep seated disturbing mental “programming.”

I had the best night’s sleep ever after that session! I guess I had not even realized that my sleep pattern had also been an issue.

So, aside from experiencing relief from finger picking that day, the habit does not reoccur unless I am stressed. I began a routine of exercising, eating less and so forth, so, the session also helped me let go of excess weight. I believe letting go of those issues aided my body in losing the weight.

The EFT session

During my EFT session with Janice, we spent nearly two hours going back into my past, into my former marriage, teenage years and finally, childhood years. I realized that I had picked up my habit of finger nail biting at the same time I had been diagnosed with the asthma – when I was six years of age. My mom has always been a terrible nail biter, biting her nails down into the quick (pink part), so I knew I’d picked up the habit from my mom, but I had not realized just how much of a connection there was between that habit, my asthma, and my mom.

I fully became aware, during my EFT session, that when my mom’s father died, my maternal grandfather, that this deeply affected her — and ME.

The important thing about that experience is to know now, that when I was a child, how much that event upset my mom and how fully connected I was to my mom and her EMOTIONS. It was natural for my mom to be upset about losing her father. But, I had taken her upset on as MINE. I vividly recall believing if she could lose him, I could lose her. And that I couldn’t live – couldn’t breathe in fact – without my mom.

I remembered (during my EFT session), that as a child, when I would say my nightly prayers, that I would plead with God not to take my mom away from me. This may not make sense to many people, but I am an only child, the only child who lived of the six pregnancies my mom had. My mom (and dad) have always told me how much they love me (not a bad thing in and of itself) and how precious I am, a miracle, gift, etc. But, because of this, I became a super responsible adult. I had held on to some deeply rooted beliefs about having to “live up to any and all expectations” and so forth.

My EFT session sort of felt like it had been a combination of counseling and hypnosis (though I was awake and totally aware of what was happening). It seemed as though Janice had been talking to me on a deep soul level.

Getting to the root cause

During the session, Janice recommended I take some notes, both of things that I was becoming aware of, as well as how to be able to run through this process again on my own if need be.

I noted that I had always tried to “save my mom”.
I am not my thoughts.
My perception influenced my thoughts, but my perceptions were not always “true.”
The genie is out of the bottle.
I do not need the old thoughts.
Am I the thought or the awareness?
Am I “this” thought, or am I the awareness of “this” thought?
Who sent “this” thought? (My pain-body)
Examine “this” thought. It will probably be a limiting thought, a no-win thought, and one that would eventually bring pain.
To let go of “this” thought: 1) focus on the feeling of my breath in and out, 2) be the observing presence.
When I observe I suspend space.
Inspiration = In spirit, and inspiration fills me, lights me up from the inside – the same as when someone is in creative mode; you feel the creative energy inside, in your heart or chest, not in the head area.
The Aha moment when the head agrees to the inner knowing.
My nails = my own fear and anxiety to my feeling, as though I could never fix/help/save my mom.
A trigger for me is when I am faced with something I can’t do anything about, when I feel a sense of powerlessness.
But I’m a super responsible person – I’m supposed to DO something vs. just BE.
(This is the conflict that causes the habitual negative behavior).

Once we got to the root cause of my habit, it effortlessly left me.

EFT helped me to realize that even if I could pluck my mom out of her seemingly dysfunctional situation, that the change would not bring her happiness and that after all, it’s her life. It is what it is. I cannot “fix” the world. I am not here to “save” anyone else.

That “saving” realization freed me. Now, I still have other issues to work through, but wow, I really have that peace that passes all understanding after one EFT session! I have just been able to deal with things and just BE.

Highly recommended

I can’t say enough about EFT. If you think you’ve tried everything to find relief from anxiety, depression, weight issues, nerve problems, etc. I implore you to try EFT. You do not need to “believe in it” for it to work for you. And what do you have to lose?

Natural health: Relief from anxiety using EFT / Tapping

Have you ever had the experience of someone making you mad / angry, and in that moment you either didn’t know what to say, or you would cuss, hurl insults, flip a certain finger, yell, scream, throw a fit, or act in some other seemingly uncontrollable manner?

Maybe in the moment of confrontation you go into a rage, attack, cry, pout, or run away? Or you just can’t wait to get home, so you can tell your spouse, tell the offending person off on Facebook, slide into emotional eating, or make gooey fattening comfort food and chow down into oblivion.

I have great news!! A healthy, non-calorie, alternative you can use on yourself to calm your central nervous system! And it’s FREE, once you learn it, and you can do it at nearly any time.

I’ve found relief from the anxiety experienced during those highly charged confrontations. Plus, I’ve learned WHY I never seem to know what to say in that hostile moment.

It’s how we’re wired, and it has everything to do with the fight or flight response! The amygdala in our brains is actually so busy trying to figure out if we should scream or flee from the offending person that the analytical part of our brain can’t get a word in, or out! Seems funny to say that now but it really is what happens and that too, is frustrating – causing us even more irritation in the moment!

The confrontation ends and a few minutes later, or an hour, or a day, we think to ourselves, “why didn’t I say…”.

When I get upset I’d rather not feel nervous or tense, I’d rather like to laugh, walk away, or be able to just shrug it all off. Instead, even if it’s only my self talk, I get irritated and think “get a life”, or such. But, I don’t like that. I’d like to always be conscious of my thoughts and in control of the words that come out of my mouth. Wouldn’t you?

I’d like to say anything other than hurl an insult (which I admit is rare but has happened). I hear people say, “it is what it is”, “life goes on”, “God bless you”, or simply laugh and never give it any thought. Me? Noooo… I tend to bring it all home and stew about it.

Ruminating on negative things leads to stress. And if carried around long enough it could affect my health.

Thankfully though, I am transforming for the better! I choose to stay in conscious alignment with my true nature more every day. I choose to let it all go, right then, right in the moment. Ahhh. Before, how I felt depended on whatever had influenced my day. Now, I really am empowered!

I found out about EFT years ago when I learned of the meridian system of the body from my acupuncture doctor. I even went to an EFT coach for one-on-one help with a couple of issues. Later, I took some friends to the EFT coach.

I’ve been practicing EFT /Tapping much more regularly for a host of things, and I love it! So much so, that I am talking and writing about it.

On Sept. 5, 2013 I gave my first FREE public EFT / Tapping presentation!

I really enjoyed sharing this information with new friends at our RV park.

Seven people came out for the event, and I’ve already received heartwarming feedback. It’s helped people feel better, and that’s the whole point. Relief! Results!

The attendees were: a senior couple, three single ladies, a single guy, and my husband (8 including me)! Woot! The single gentleman was concerned for his doggie at home – who experiences storm anxiety so we even tapped about that! Great group! So open to learning, sharing, and tapping together! We tapped on anxiety, on the economy/government/politics, and all the stormy weather we’ve been having this lately in St. Petersburg, FL.

If you don’t have a clue about EFT / Tapping, I have several websites I can point you to and videos. I’ll include several links below.

Here are the basics:

Talk about your problem, negative feelings, anything unwanted, sad emotion, depressing thing that’s going on IN THE MOMENT while tapping on the side of one hand with two or three fingers from the other hand. Rate on a scale of 1-10 how much you’re feeling the negative or unwanted emotion before you start and after you end. This will help you to know the Tapping provided relief.

Say this “problem” 3 times, beginning with “Even though” and ending with “I deeply and completely love and accept myself or something about myself that I believe is true about ME, like: my body, my soul, my feelings, my emotions, my name, etc.)”. You will want the statement to be true, so you can use your own words, the ones that resonate your truth. Here are some examples of this:

The scenario: A clerk is short, brisk, rude or some such thing and it upsets me. I walk out in a huff vowing to myself never to go back to that store again! I feel the irritation and maybe even anger in my body. I do not want to carry that negative emotion to the next interaction I have with anyone, much less all day, much less all week, etc. So as I leave the store and enter my car I say out loud to myself while tapping the side of my hand:

  • Even though I’m so annoyed with that !@#$ clerk at the store, and my anger is warranted, I could have just (insert what you usually say here, punched, kicked, yelled, cussed) at or to her, I deeply and completely accept my feelings
  • Even though that clerk was really rude to me, she totally ticked me off, I deeply and completely honor my soul
  • Even though she was a stupid, ignorant, jerk, idiot, moron, you name it… and should have thought before she spoke, I deeply and completely love and respect myself

Now, I move through the rest of the tapping points, choosing one word from anything I just said about the problem to reinforce to my brain that I really did feel / experience this issue:

For each point tap 5 to 7 times, not necessary to count them just tap and talk and go with the flow. Also these words are just an example, say whatever your feeling. I realize you may not know what word to associate with the feeling but with practice that will come easier and easier.

  • Inside beginning of the eyebrow (Say out loud): I’m so irritated
  • Side of the eye: I say – I’m very frustrated
  • Below the eye: Ugh, I’m Upset
  • Below the nose and above the upper lip: Angry
  • Below the bottom lip, in the crease of the chin: I feel bullied
  • Collarbone point(s): Annoyed
  • Under the arm*: I’m really Mad
  • Top of the head: Flustered
  • Take a nice big deep breath

The under arm point for women is at the bra line, for men it’s about a hand width from the arm pit.

Repeat this process two or three more times, using different words. Hopefully you’ll notice that you’re choosing easier, lighter words because by the second or third round you’re feeling better! I’ve found the second round goes something like this:

  • Even though I got upset during that confrontation at the store, and believe I’m justified to feel the way I do, I deeply and completely choose to somehow get over it
  • Even though that clerk was a jerk, she probably didn’t set out to ruin, or spoil my day, I deeply and completely love and accept my intentions
  • Even though people should be nicer, I would like to practice what I preach, somehow forgive, and deeply and completely tune into some good feelings now

And then…

  • Inside beginning of the eyebrow: (tap 5-7 times on each of these points) Say out loud: I’m still aggravated
  • Side of the eye: I say – But somehow I want to let it go
  • Below the eye: That silly clerk, what was she thinking?
  • Below the nose and above the upper lip: Spoil my day
  • Below the bottom lip, in the crease of the chin: I’m justified in how I feel
  • Collarbone point(s): but I don’t want this to ruin my day
  • Under the arm*: I didn’t do anything wrong
  • Top of the head: I played no part in that
  • Take a nice big deep breath

Last round:

  • Even though all my feelings about this situation seem warranted, I deeply and completely comfort myself
  • Even though people may not always act their best, I deeply and completely honor all of my choices
  • Even though people make mistakes, I want to forgive and live in a state of gratitude no matter what is going on around me, I deeply and completely love and accept myself

Then…

  • Inside beginning of the eyebrow: (tap 5-7 times on each of these points) Say out loud: I’m feeling a little less upset
  • Side of the eye: I say – I’m still a bit annoyed
  • Below the eye: Because I don’t understand some people
  • Below the nose and above the upper lip: But I don’t want to carry this around like baggage all day
  • Below the bottom lip, in the crease of the chin: So, somehow I choose to let it go
  • Collarbone point(s): She’s already forgotten about it I bet
  • Under the arm*: I have no reason to continue to think about it either
  • Top of the head: So I guess letting it go really does feel better
  • Take a nice big deep breath

I wanted to thank you SO MUCH for the knowledge you shared on your site. I clicked on the EFT tapping menu tab and have been doing the tapping for the last three days after watching the video, reading about it and printing out the instructions.
