May 21st – Original song about a Bayou girl

It’s May 21st, 2024; Here’s an original rockin’ blues song that’s sure to bring back memories of the Bayou (if you’ve ever been there). Otherwise, it may conjure images of a southern gal who trudges through the swamp. To me, this song brings to mind one of my favorite songs of all time, Swamp Woman by Stranger (whom I used to see play Live many times while I was in my late twenties and early thirties).

Knee-deep in mud

Here’s the one-hundred-forty-second new music post for 2024, as I consistently put one of our original songs out front and center for ALL to enjoy! Knee-deep in the mud, this story about a Bayou girl sticks (and rocks)! Ha!

I don’t know if any of you have dealt with the subject this song presents, but I’m betting you weren’t laughing about it at the time. Now, you can though! Hindsight is 20-20 as they say.

Speaking of mud

No matter what is going on in the world, it’s up to each of us not to get “bogged down in the doom and gloom” as Shirley MacLaine tells us in her monthly ShirleyGram email. I’ve been a subscriber of Shirley’s for years. I love the uplifting stories she offers freely each month. She typically writes about her love of nature, animals, and of course, UFOs and things of a spiritual (unseen) nature.

Screen capture: “For us, it’s part of maintaining a healthy balance between the mind and the heart and spirit. The barrage of perpetual pessimistic information can muddle the mind, but the heart and spirit can keep it in check when they are fortified with encouragement.” –Shirley MacLaine

Yes, Everything Happens for a Reason and Everything Resolves to Gratitude. Knowing that each of us (as fractals) uplifts my mind and allows me to view life as a lively kaleidoscope grand design that moves about in an ever-expanding, revolving, melodious, consciousness. Even when we get stuck in the mud occasionally.

Enjoy (IN Joy) everything and love! Be Everything All the Time. May we all soar in ’24!

Yours in expanding, muddling, spiraling consciousness,

Sheila “Spiral Sister” Murrey

April 14th – Gator Brown

It’s April 14th, 2024; Here’s an original country blues song about living out on the bayou. The Big Easy gets a nod and those times when someone could get away with disappearing someone. When the ghost of Gator Brown comes walkin’ round… expertly sung by Bubba Hudson and the country blues studio mix gets a well-deserved big ‘Thank You’ too–Steven Cooper, Nashville, TN.

Bayou creek

Here’s the one-hundred-fifth new music post for 2024, as I consistently showcase an original song from our 400+ original song catalog. The story of Gator Brown might go either way, but since neither was ever found, well, we’ll never know. This is one of our songs that Richard used to play out Live and it always got a lot of appreciation.

Between listening to this song and having just watched a new Peter Santenello video about New Orleans (I always heard it called, N’awlins though the locals in this video never pronounce it that way, which makes me wonder). For some reason, watching a couple of videos (I’ve got another link a bit further down into this post), it brought to mind ‘rule breakers.’

Rules are made to be broken

When I was young I had heard a phrase about how ‘rules are made to be broken.’ I mused as to why that would be the case. If rules were made to be broken, why have the rules? I guess I was on a spiral path even all those decades ago while I was young. Now, I mostly question the rules.

Integrating the Spirals notes from my notepad. –Sheila Murrey

Why do mystery and intrigue hold interest for us? Especially those of us who were taught to ‘live by the rules’? This video in particular, shows us how many celebrities sell their soul (talk about breaking the rules), for fame and fortune–but as we find out, it doesn’t make them happy.

Kick ass rules

Perhaps we wouldn’t feel like breaking rules if the rules actually made sense and fit life. Let’s look at the following list of rules for kicking ass in life and see if any of these could be broken:

May we all soar in ’24! Here’s to breaking the rules (when necessary), and living FREE!
