Here’s the one-hundred-seventy-fourth new music post for 2024, as I consistently march on with one of our original songs daily–even without a tribal horde following me. Have a listen and let us know if this is a timely song as we inch closer to the November election in the USA.
Everyone can do their part to bring the best people forward in government. We have a lot to do before we can register to vote in our new state, a cascade of stuff really, which I am happy to do, but irritates me that if I were not a citizen I wouldn’t have to do it (in some other states). Anyway, I am too old and tired to fight those political battles.
I’ll renew our passports (we have to go get new passport photos taken), and then I can trade my Florida driver’s license in for one from our new state (even though both states use RealID and I would have thought we could just make the trade without me needing to supply the multiple divorce/marriage documents (I have most but not all) to prove all my last name changes. UGH! Renewing our passports will save me from having to go through all of that since it’s already in my current name. When it comes to the government, documentation always seems to be a hassle (and yes, I worked in government as a contractor and in documentation so I know that of which I speak/write). Ha!
Counting a multitude of blessings
I told you yesterday about the tree (or part of it) that fell in our backyard yesterday during a rainstorm and last night, our son-in-law relayed a comment from the guy who lived here before us. It made us all sit up and realize how blessed we are to have moved in earlier than we’d planned. It seems that at the time of the tree falling, he would have just arrived home and parked where the tree fell! He might have been injured or killed (or trapped in his truck), or at the least, have a lot of damage to his truck–but we moved in and don’t have a vehicle! Whew!
We continued to count our blessings that the tree didn’t fall when any of us were outside, had it only been windy we would have been. It was fairly windy a few days ago and we were out in the backyard swinging and such. The timing of this tree falling and how fast it fell really got our attention. Oh, how blessed we all are! Lots of silver linings.
Turns out the birdhouse was spared, apparently it was built very well. It only needs Mike, our son-in-law, to fix the roof of it. The back of the roof came off of its hinges. The front was only minimally damaged. But the tree fell on it and it pushed down into the popup camper’s roof. So, between that and the other parts of the camper that were hit, we think it might be totaled. They had insurance on it though!

Guidance
I’ve often been a bit harsh when it comes to people needing religious guidance, yet I now consider myself a spiritual teacher. I have come to realize that while we strive to simply practice our beliefs, walk our talk, and so forth, sometimes we do need assistance, either from a sacred book, teacher, mentor, coach, or such.
You might also like to read the article I published a few months ago about The Book. I believe every sacred book can offer us guidance and encouragement. When people refer to the Holy Bible, I always ask “Which translation?” as I think there are so many different versions that we’d need to be ‘on the same page’ in order to have a deep dive discussion about it. I also think during the translation process a word or phrase has been altered from the original to change the meaning (purposefully or not) to suit someone’s agenda.
I think we each can grow strong enough spiritually, not to need the ‘training wheels’ of religion. I define religion as a ‘structure,’ ‘box,’ or ‘path’ that relies on discipline and duty to keep people adhering to it. I’d much rather meditate to commune with my Higher Power, God, Jesus, Krishna, Buddha, or such. But that’s because I’m a do-it-yourself, independent kind of person. I feel people need to honor that which serves them the most to grow their soul. I was always taught to study to “show thyself approved,” (biblical scripture) and thus found this to be ‘the way.’

Existentially yours
I believe a part of us exists for all time, and through all space. I write the word ‘all’ as ‘ALL’ a lot because of the experiences I’ve had, both metaphysical and ethereal. I’ve seen the whole of it ALL and I feel the ‘All That Is’ (Omniscience) permeating through everything–even rocks! I know the human body is a temple for spirit and soul, and thus, I feel it will return to the dust one day, while the spirit and soul travel on.

I’m a slow reader, especially when I read a few pages of any book and seek the similarities and synchronicities it raises in my life. Thus, my apologies to Dawn for taking so long to post my review of Ariel’s Song, her lovely book of poetry.
I love how Dawn organized her book, with genuine Acknowledgments and a Dedication to her daughter, Ariel. I love that Dawn’s poems are poignant and reach deep into one’s soul. I find her words authentic and fascinating, even on subjects one may not explore often if at all.
I’m usually not one to seek out and buy books of poetry, but I do have three on the Kindle app on my phone and I will often read a few pages before I go to sleep (unless I am charging my phone in another room). We turn off our WiFi at night but now, but I get good service on my phone in our new location, so I have picked up nighttime reading again. I do have a reading light and several paperback books, but holding them and turning pages annoys me when I am sleepy. As well, I love to highlight and search within the Kindle books, so there’s that.
I’m quite happy to have Dawn’s book on my phone (in my Kindle app), so I can reference any of her poems whenever I wish. Though I like and love several of her poems, I know me. I will pick it up again in a year or so and find that others will resonate with me. That’s how reading goes for me. For now though, I will share my list of favorites with you next.

It’s May 21st, 2024; Here’s an original rockin’ blues song that’s sure to bring back memories of the Bayou (if you’ve ever been there). Otherwise, it may conjure images of a southern gal who trudges through the swamp. To me, this song brings to mind one of my favorite songs of all time, Swamp Woman by Stranger (whom I used to see play Live many times while I was in my late twenties and early thirties).

No matter what is going on in the world, it’s up to each of us not to get “bogged down in the doom and gloom” as Shirley MacLaine tells us in her monthly ShirleyGram email. I’ve been a subscriber of Shirley’s for years. I love the uplifting stories she offers freely each month. She typically writes about her love of nature, animals, and of course, UFOs and things of a spiritual (unseen) nature.
