I don’t know why this irritated me (when I read about it a few days ago at work), but it did. So, I took some notes and relegated this to a draft for further research. If you would rather listen instead of read, play the audio (and there’s a couple BONUS comments on the audio):

I wish I could simply say XYZ university is funded by Acme, ABC, or 123 Inc., but as you’ll see, university donors come in a wide variety of flavors. Some may have noble intentions, others nefarious and like I have said since the beginning of this blog, “It’s your choice” as to what or whom to believe. I’m trying to stay neutral—always balancing. But I’ve been finding that difficult because it has been difficult to find clear benefactors. The more muck and mire I search through, the more I tend to think there’s something they want to hide.

Here’s one public-facing equivalent article (to the proprietary one I read that had been sent to my work email) that led me down this rabbit hole and explains the new CDC announcement to fund analytics to forecast infectious diseases:

The Awardees

The Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security is funded by The Gates Foundation and many others. This reminds me of the saying about “Don’t ask someone to tell you who they are, they will show you.” Correction, here’s the quote I was thinking of: “When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.” #MayaAngelou

The University of NC Chapel Hill Gillings School of Global Public Health – The last full year of a “donors listing” I could find on the https://sph.unc.edu website was this one for 2015. All it takes is a few seconds of scrolling to uncover names such as, Anonymous (3) of $1,000,000 to $9,999,999, American Academy of Family Physicians, American Heart Association, AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals LP U.S., Baylor University College of Medicine, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and W.K. University of Massachusetts Amherst – Here’s what you’ll find when you Google, “who funds” + Name of the college or university you’re researching:

University of Texas Austin – I was pleased to see a more normalized (perhaps, human?) listing for the benefactors (donors) of this university: https://universityunions.utexas.edu/about-us/support-our-students/donor-recognition

Northwestern university – My research on who funds this institution led me down a couple of rabbit holes. First, I don’t know how genuinely philanthropic this Billionaire couple is or how much of their “giving” to Northwestern is a tax write-off or puff of ego: https://news.northwestern.edu/stories/2021/september/ryan-family-gift/

And then there’s this journalistic and neighbor of the school that would undoubtedly experience noise pollution from the new stadium the Billionaires want the university to build: https://www.commondreams.org/opinion/inequality-in-higher-education

University of Michigan School of Public Health – Normally, I don’t use Wikipedia but in this case I couldn’t come up with much about who funds this institution (other than public funds): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Michigan_School_of_Public_Health

Emory University – Here’s the important quote “The lion’s share of funding for Emory’s research enterprise this year came from federal agencies which contributed $598 million. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) led the sector with $526 million to tap into Emory’s long and deep expertise in infectious diseases, bacterial resistance, cancer, and the neurosciences. Carnegie Mellon University Delphi Research Group for a Center of Innovation in Outbreak Analytics and Disease Monitoring – The primary benefactor to this institutions is Bill Dietrich. “September 2011, philanthropist and long-time Carnegie Mellon University trustee William S. Dietrich II announced his plan to donate a $265 million in support of the university. Bill’s gift was the largest in CMU’s history, and his generosity helped enable the continuing success of Dietrich College.” Per https://www.cmu.edu/dietrich/about/index.html

University of Minnesota – Per my Google research, the institution is funded “through several sources, including tuition and state appropriations, as well as grants, contracts, gifts and auxiliary sales. Nearly one-fourth of the University’s current $4.2 billion budget comes from tuition revenue, while about 17% comes from state appropriations.”

University of California San Diego – As is the case with many public institutions, is awarded grants from federal funding agencies such as, “NIH is the university’s largest funder providing more than $530 million in research dollars last year.” (2023) Other than that UC San Diego’s benefactor list is obscure.

Northeastern University – This is a private, nonprofit university that receives its funding primarily through grants, alumni benefactors, individual donors, corporate donors, and other resources. Anytime within an academic year, Northeastern Grant funds may be “replaced by a named endowed fund.”

Kaiser Permanente Southern CA – Kaiser Permanente is “one of the nation’s largest not-for-profit health plans,” per its corporate description. Here’s their corporate investment summary: https://community.kp.org/about/summary-of-operations

Clemson University – a public land-grant institution in South Carolina. Funding and why it matters

When I first attended college it didn’t matter in the slightest to me who funded the school. And undoubtedly I just thought the school was funded by the fees the students paid. Boy, was I wrong! And was I asleep. It makes ALL the difference who funds a school.

Donors or benefactors play a big factor behind the scenes and drive or influence the board of directors or councils on what to teach students. Sometimes it is philosophical leanings, sometimes it’s political, and sometimes (I think) it’s religious–or anti religious, which is secular. And then there’s Reductionist Science and Darwinian DOGMA. (Yes, “the Central Dogma” of Science, which IS a religion–nod to Dr. Bruce Lipton) In other words, these benefactors can drive basic decisions of “what and how we’re going to teach these young minds” based upon their own leanings (biases).

There are many different “schools of thought.”

Often there’s a very fine line between a “conflict of interest” and a “partnership” too. I often wonder about the people who sit on school boards or councils and those who influence them (or worse).

About the University of Massachusetts (conflict of interest or partnership?)

The UT News article reads, “Reich is also a professor at UMass,” and closes with “the CDC is investing $250M over 5 years across 13 efforts of which $27.5M will be for the UT Austin/UMass-led initiative.” I know some professors work for more than one university but this question did pop into my mind—is this a conflict of interest or partnership?

This is where I’ll leave you to decide.

Is-ness – The snails path

Energy is the power behind ALL. Source creates. ALL rises, falls, undulates, pulsates, spins, whirls, collapses, expands, shrinks. The Dao (Daoism) emanates from the dot. Holism envelopes. ALL simply IS. Omniscience (Omnism) governs ALL.

I am a fractal of Omniscience and so are you—making one grand design. Meditate on the yin and yang ☯️ as a 3, 4, or 5D version which breathes, pulses, undilates, and emanates Light! When the shadow grows larger the lighter portion shrinks but always this symbol seeks its own balance and like water. (Hint: the wavy line in the middle represents—water, movement, and action!)

We Are All Connected

I popped open, spiritually, in 2005 when I had a transcendental experience in the middle of the night. I heard a deep male voice say, “We Are All Connected.” I’ve spoken about this publicly. Integrating the Spirals to ease unwanted emotions

My online Zoom video course, Integrating the Spirals is more timely now than ever because I know people are suffering. (Let me know if you’re interested in working through the Integrating the Spirals course.)

As an empath I want to help ease suffering and raise our vibration to offer hope. I want to uplift others and expand our collective consciousness. I teach breath work and meditation so we appreciate the value of Detachment. We till our inner soil with our breath to calm the amygdala and institute peace. Be the best version of who you want to be–because if you’re reading my words your soul is probably beckoning you to align with it and live up to your highest ideals. Not perfect because who is perfect? Most stagnate or ‘get stuck’ while on their way to being whatever they think perfection is. Making progress is enough. Carrying your Karma lightly is enough. Be kind to yourself while living responsibly. Who you ARE affects us ALL. We Are All Connected.

Omniscience knows ALL. Omniscience is always with you. You are never alone.
