November 7th – I think she’s thinkin’

It’s November 7th, 2024; We’ve got a new original country song for some today. I think she’s thinkin’ is a fun song and it might even put a smile on your face–I know that’s hard for some of you right now. Vocals by Bubba Hudson. Song production by Steven Cooper of Nashville, TN.

This is the three-hundred-tenth new music post for 2024! Richard has always told me I care too much about what other people are thinking, and a phone call with my uncle Jim yesterday, brought that to my mind as well.

My uncle Jim is a minister of a branch of Latter Day Saints (He is in the Remnant church). And he carefully chooses his words, so as not to hurt there people’s feelings. We have always talked openly about politics and religion. So, it surprised me to know he’d said something to one of my first cousins that he later was concerned about. He’d told her, “A vote for the Democratic Presidential candidate was a vote for the death of America; a vote for the Republican Presidential candidate was a vote for the life of America.” And then she told him she and her family are Democrats. What I loved about this discourse was that she listened politely to him and then simply answered. There was no argument or divisive words. Thankfully. He told me he would never want to sever a familial relationship over politics. And that sets the stage for what I am about to say.

Braver Angels

I have a friend who lives in Indiana and serves within his states Braver Angels commUnity. If you’re not aware of this organization, read this email I received from him this morning (to his email list). It will give you some insight:

Becoming a Braver Angel – Post Election

It’s Election Day and depolarizing may be the last thing on your mind! But it is more important than ever to learn to talk with each other in order to govern our communities and country. This is why I am a volunteer with the non-profit organization Braver Angels and why I believe you are on this mailing list.

I have a question: Is polarization an addiction?  And what does healing mean in a post-election America? Does that look different for liberals and conservatives?

Pondering on what “healing” means for our country, I thought about the success of 12 step recovery programs. I searched “What are the 12 principles of recovery?” and it said – honesty, hope, surrender, courage, integrity, willingness, humility, love, responsibility, discipline, awareness, and service.

Wow! Commenting on each of these would be an article on it’s own. But what I really want to know is what is YOUR perspective on polarization as an addiction? What do these 12 principles (which represents the 12 steps of recovery) mean to you? Reply to this email or give me a text or call at (812) 361-0067. Or let me know if you want a private online group to chat about it (e.g. NOT social media).

After the elections, regardless of who wins, we will all need to show compassion and a willingness to understand other people’s perspectives in order to solve the problems facing us. On July 28 we began the “100 Days the Braver Angles Way” campaign leading up to today’s election. My role is as Indiana Volunteer Coordinator, but it is you who has to take initiative and let me know how you want to participate.

And getting involved is now what I am asking you to do!  As a grassroots social movement it is up to each of us as individuals to act. As a state coordinator I may be in a leadership position, but I do NOT believe in a top-down approach. Instead, I encourage you to empower yourself by utilizing the tools Braver Angels provides to guide us into relationship with each other.

So, below is a call-to-action to get you started in figuring out what your part is for healing our country. Your journey begins with becoming a member, if you are not already. Then log into the members portal and explore what looks good to you; getting trained as an organizer, learning to be a workshop moderator, pursuing an interest like starting a book club, or coming up with your own idea and running with it! And, as always, donating to the cause is always needed and appreciated.

Knowing that each of us (as fractals) uplifts my mind and allows me to view life as a lively kaleidoscope grand design that moves about in an ever-expanding, revolving, melodious, consciousness. Even if we have to disconnect from some people, for a time.

November 6th – Songs I could have wrote

It’s November 6th, 2024; We’ve got a new original country song; it’s a personal song because my husband has written songs on such a variety of topics. Like me, Richard views life from myriad perspectives. I’ll send it out to ALL songwriters who haven’t hit it big. Bubba Hudson sings this song well. And Steven Cooper (Nashville, TN) did a fine job on the song’s production.

This is the three-hundred-ninth new music post for 2024! This song has always reminded me a bit of Barry Manilow’s song, I write the songs. My husband doesn’t have a big Ego though. In fact, he’s one of the most humble guys I know.

Today’s a day of rest for us, after a very late night of watching election results and believing for the future well-being of America. I was hopeful the country would come together and it seems they have. The PEOPLE have spoken!

NPR Presidential race results: Nov 6, 2024

As I wrote yesterday, I was a career analyst for over three decades. I am wired to figure things out and it’s easy for me to ‘connect the dots’. But I have tried on many perspectives in my 62 years on the earth, and I know I continue to change and transform, based on how the outcomes work out. I live and learn. And I am humble enough to know, I am not always right, and thus, I don’t get too worked up over things when they don’t go in my favor. I hope my friends on the Left will be able to take a fresh look at President Trump, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., Elon Musk, and Tulsi Gabbard. I truly believe we’re going to experience a LOT of great things to come, NOW that this Presidential race and election is over and we can focus on making America HEALTHY again. No censorship. No cancel culture.
