It’s October 7th, 2024; We have an original hard rock for you today! Something to smile and move your body. We love this song! It’s one of our favorites! Bubba Hudson rocks on the vocals and Steven Cooper of Nashville, TN did an outrageous job producing this rocker.

Here’s the two-hundred-seventy-ninth new music post for 2024, as I consistently rock out with new tunes on this blog! While we may not have a lot to be happy about today, we know better days are coming! The challenge is to find happiness (put ourselves in a happy state) even during the storms of life.

We’ve got to be happy even while facing distressing news

Yes, friends in Florida aren’t even done with disaster recovery and cleanup after the last hurricane, Helene. Yet, here comes another hurricane! And of course, North Carolina and other states are still in disaster recovery mode and are still in distress after Helene wrecked their homes, and washed away roads, bridges, and dams. The way the government has treated (or ignored them) speaks volumes. And I’m willing to bet that this will play out at the voter booth come November! Yes, I am advocating that we find ways to be happy even in the face of distressing circumstances so we can remain calm and be able to make decisions. Balancing all the time and easing emotions.

Screen capture: My phone weather app shows that we hit 39 degrees (Fahrenheit) last night (in the wee early hours of the morning), and when we got out of bed it was 67 degrees in the apartment, so I turned on the furnace. Our high is only supposed to reach 66 outside (so the lows are on the left and highs are on the right on this app). This marks Day 1 of using the heat in this place. I know it’s Fall now! Ha! I love this Fairy Door in stained glass, which we think is just a digital print, but I want to make a similar one with fused glass at my daughter’s art studio. Tough times

Whether you’re now out of the tough times, as hopefully Julian Assange is (link to yesterday’s post of his amazing talk and Q&A with Parliament), or you’re still dealing with mounds of mud and worse in North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, and so forth (we’ve been watching many YouTube videos of such–here’s one: https://youtu.be/XYnVbBXuPfU?si=V5NisTEhuqdkndpK), I will always believe there are things you can do to improve your current mental health state of being.

After climbing out of depression many years ago, I believe if I could do it, anyone can. Perhaps one just needs some encouragement, information, tools, and resources. For that, never hesitate to ask! Keeping this short today because I have a cousin in the hospital and want to check on her, and I just got off a Zoom call with IONS, which I’ll tell you about tomorrow. It was GREAT!

Hey (hay) is for horses

I am not perfect, nor do I know it ALL. But I continue to lean into what interests me and enjoy reading many blog articles and books. I continue to inform myself, mind, spirit, and soul. While it may not be necessary for us to grow our soul, for me, right now, it is of value to do so. I can visualize growing larger wings, or building a bigger spiritual nest, for which I could enjoy on the Other Side. I can also imagine one day hearing the words, “…my child, in whom I am well-pleased.”

I may be a talking horse, like Mr. Ed (for those who remember that old TV series), and I know people have short attention spans, so I’ll just give you this piece of advice. It helped me after praying (years ago) for God to lift me out of depression (or dark night of the soul). It is this, “Make a choice and commitment to create your life, instead of live it by default.” If you want to know more about this and why I feel it transformed my life, just ask. “Do not conform to the pattern (Programming) of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Romans 12:2.

Health update

We just got back home from Richard’s doctor appointment this morning. The news was ALL good! YAY! Richard’s blood labs came back good, and now our Integrative Physician can focus on helping us out with a few other health issues. After Richard starts a new thyroid medication, we make a few dietary changes, and he begins a few other supplements, he will feel 100% (and perhaps I will too)!

Richard’s iron level is back in the normal range (it had been too high for a couple of years). This is great news! We can reduce our carb intake (I think almost everyone could benefit from doing that), lower his cholesterol (she definitely wants him OFF the statin), and get his thyroid back to normal range (he’s a bit on the hypothyroidism side). Another great takeaway from today’s visit is that Richard can actually have more sodium and potassium now. And he’s thrilled about that!

I gave our doctor a Defend Super Patch and very briefly explained how it works (she was aware of Lifewave but not Super Patch yet) I told her I have two on Richard right now, one for balance, the other for energy. Before we left she gave me a few suggestions (supplements) to balance my hormones (as she’s a hormone specialist). So even though it was Richard’s appointment, I got some advice for myself as well. Menopause is putting “men on pause” as the saying goes. Ha!

October 1st – Call me

It’s October 1st, 2024; We have an original pop country song for anyone who’s felt used. Steven Cooper of Nashville, TN found a wonderful female pro to sing this original song for us. And he did a lovely production job on this demo too!

Here’s the two-hundred-seventy-third new music post for 2024, as I consistently press forward on my one-year “post a song a day” challenge. I hope you all have enjoyed (IN Joy) the songs I’ve plugged into each post. I know we’re winding down, but I still have more songs to share, so stay tuned as this daily song marathon is almost over. 

I’m already scoping out the direction I’ll take next year and have some exciting changes coming! I will still share one of our original songs in 2025, though not daily until I share each one (since we have over 400). But I’ll share some pages from the new book I’m writing (probably using screen captures) to get your feedback and help me weave it together (as it’s a BIG topic)! And I’ll be back on audio (perhaps in a podcast, discussions about such are currently in the works), so stand by for more announcements about that. I sooo appreciate your support and comments!

Free Speech continues to be under attack

I am joining forces with a few bloggers to bring you news and updates on fringe and esoteric subjects. I am doing this to awaken us to the 360-degree views of what’s happening, the kaleidoscope perspectives that shape us and our world. Some of these things we’ll agree on and some we won’t (I still have friends who say they won’t follow me if I get political, and family who block/unfollow me when I speak on spiritual and religious topics). So be it! I am who I am, and I will continue to speak my truths (that may differ from yours/others and that’s okay), as time marches on. As long as I have breath in my body, I will not allow anyone to squelch my voice! I will continue to stand for Peace, Freedom, and Joy! And sometimes, to get to Joy, there must be Justice. Just like sometimes we have to fight for our collective freedoms. To Everything turn, turn, turn (as the song says). And that’s why I practice with the kaleidoscope and sit with nature. There’s a time for every purpose under heaven.

I feel if (the US) government can pressure one platform to shut down a voice, they can do it to others. And then (the USA) will not have a democracy, but a tyranny. We (the USA) will lose our Republic when we lose our Constitution. September 30th – Chain up my heart

It’s September 30th, 2024; We have an original rock song for anyone who’s felt like their heart has been chained up by love. My husband, ranks right up there (in my opinion) as a superb songwriter, much like (we feel) Kris Kristofferson was a great songwriter. Bubba Hudson kicks this rocks song home with his best vocals. And Steven Cooper of Nashville, TN put an amazing effort in on this rock production too!

Here’s the two-hundred-seventy-fourth new music post for 2024, as I speak about one of the greatest songwriters, Kris Kristofferson. My heart is sad today, reading about his passings when I woke up this morning. Kris was driven by music but sort of fell into acting. Yes, I know he lived a good long life, and got to do a vast range of things, but what a loss! I’m sad because I feel I’ve known Kris (through his songs) my whole life!

Yes, I rate my husband, Richard Murrey, right up there with Kris Kristofferson as a great songwriter. I think both of these fine men write such profound songs because they have lived a myriad of life experiences. And yes, education plays a big part too, in their ability to craft story songs, and turn a phrase.

Richard asked me how old Kris was, when I told him Kris had passed. And the first song he spoke of was Sunday Mornin’ Comin’ Down. I knew Kris had written a lot of songs, but I hadn’t remembered that one until Richard reminded me. I have several favorites.

Celebrating a wonderful life

I always loved, Me and Bobby McGee. Maybe because my dad, grandfather, and uncle were truck drivers and I could always relate to it in that way, or later, because I moved around (and transplanted myself) so much. I don’t know, but Kris’ words in that story song, and the way Janis Joplin sang it, always moved me–always touched my heart.

Speaking of transplanting, here’s a photo of the herbs I transplanted/repotted, to be able to bring into the house before it gets too cold for them outside. I will leave some in the wood herb box hanging from the deck to see how they do over the winter as a test. I know parsley has grown well for me all winter in Florida, but in New England? I’m just not sure it will hang on through the winter to return in the spring. I will bring all of these in and put them in front of the windows upstairs. We’ll see how it goes! I also repotted my Florida orchid and a succulent I bought here recently.

Not to complain, but I also read of Drake Hogestyn’s passing this morning. I wasn’t sure I’d like him when he took over for the previous actor as Roman Brady/John Black on Days of our Lives in 1986. I’d been watching Days since I was a teen (along with my mom, who loved it), and even had the show on while I was in labor at the hospital for both of my children! I had watched that particular soap opera for over 30 years, until Richard broke me of the habit after we got married. (Yes, I actually made him watch it with me too during our first year together! Ha!). I warmed up to Drake’s portrayal of John Black though and felt he and Marlena had a beautiful love affair. September 28th – Forgettable

It’s September 28th, 2024; We have an original pop song for those who feel forgettable. We were forgotten yesterday while dining out. We wondered if we had gotten up and walked out if anyone would have chased after us to pay our bill! Ha! We were too chicken to try it though. Too honest! But seriously, this is one of our favorite songs. And each time I hear it I think of John C. Reilly in some movie (was it Boogie Nights or Step Brothers?) where he played a forgettable character. Oh, THIS is scary! Is it true? Did the United Nations just sign a pact where we will no longer have sovereignty within ourselves or within countries? Do you consider yourself a global citizen? If so, is that a good thing? I’ve been hearing “Think globally, act locally” for several years. Hmmm

But now we can see all the stone walls on the property, and how steep the hill is.
