It’s May 27th, 2024; On this Memorial Day we remember our Veterans, Civilian Contractors, and current soldiers keeping the peace. Here’s an original vibrant rock song about a gal that rocks his country–and tribute to some great music artists. Adam Cunningham on vocals jam this mix into the skies! My husband and several of our family and friends have served, and I honor and pay them tribute today. Let’s all remember those who have acted bravely, sacrificed and bled for our country on this and every Memorial Day.

Here’s the one-hundred-forty-sixth new music post for 2024, as I consistently trek forward in offering one of our original songs for your listening enjoyment each day this year.

And now, I’m finding myself at a loss for words! Unbeknownst to us, my son got married last night. I mean, he’d told me about meeting his new gal and being serious about her, but wow! It’s his birthday tomorrow, so I guess he gave himself the best birthday present!

My daughter, husband, and son-in-law’s mom had all left early this morning to attend our eldest granddaughter’s dance recital and as soon as we walked back in the door our son-in-law announced that my son had gotten married! He’d seen it on Facebook! Ha! What do you know? We’re happy he’s making a life for himself in North Carolina, but it was still a shock.

Meanwhile, our eldest granddaughter was such a dancing queen this morning–and she goes back for a 5:00 pm performance again today too! We were beaming with joy for her and her school friends. They all did such an aWEsOMe job! We were not allowed to video it, and though I got some photos, I’ll have to come back and make an update once I figure out the best ones to share.

People say, “Don’t burn your bridges,” but I’ve found times when burning bridges is important, even necessary! Then again, my steadfast readers know I’m all doing whatever you must do to feel better, and yes, sometimes it does involve leaving all of the past behind. Remember, the story of Lot’s wife in the Bible. When she looked back she turned into a pillar of salt!

Speaking of not looking back

I’m all for forward motion. Keep on going. Yes, there’s time to change the road you’re on (as Led Zeppelin sings), but looking back is pointless. You can learn from whatever happened in the past but no need to waste your Now time looking back with regret, sadness, or such.

May 21st – Original song about a Bayou girl

It’s May 21st, 2024; Here’s an original rockin’ blues song that’s sure to bring back memories of the Bayou (if you’ve ever been there). Otherwise, it may conjure images of a southern gal who trudges through the swamp. To me, this song brings to mind one of my favorite songs of all time, Swamp Woman by Stranger (whom I used to see play Live many times while I was in my late twenties and early thirties).

I don’t know if any of you have dealt with the subject this song presents, but I’m betting you weren’t laughing about it at the time. Now, you can though! Hindsight is 20-20 as they say.

Speaking of mud

No matter what is going on in the world, it’s up to each of us not to get “bogged down in the doom and gloom” as Shirley MacLaine tells us in her monthly ShirleyGram email. I’ve been a subscriber of Shirley’s for years. I love the uplifting stories she offers freely each month. It’s May 20th, 2024; Here’s an original rockabilly song that’s sure to put a smile on your face, whether you laugh at or with the outrageous lyrics! Haha! The Righteous Buds recorded this Live many years ago. It got uproarious applause when they played it out at the bar too!

Here’s the one-hundred-forty-first new music post for 2024, as I consistently and sometimes outrageously share one of our original songs with you! I’m not even going to get into how this song came about (if it was based on a true story or not), but I do think it’s quite unique and could fit into a movie or TV show easily. What do you think?

I don’t know if any of you have dealt with the subject this song presents, but I’m betting you weren’t laughing about it at the time. Now, you can though! Hindsight is 20-20 as they say.

May 19th – Butter-side Down

It’s May 19th, 2024; Here’s an original upbeat and lively pop song that’s about feeling like you’re butter-side down. This is a favorite danceable song of mine. I love the lyrics and snappy sound. Bubba Hudson’s back on vocals in this unique ode to toast. Ha! This song was delightfully mixed by Steven Cooper in his studio in Nashville, TN.

Any of us could find ourselves feeling like we’re butter-side down on the floor, but the good news is, we don’t have to stay that way. Ask for “a little help please?” to find your way back up. Don’t let life get ya down.

Dreaming

I love dreaming. I used to daydream a bit when I was young and in school too. Maybe that’s helped me over the years. I mean, doesn’t creativity begin with dream-like thought processing? I’m an analytical person too though, and feel the analytical part led me throughout most of my career in technology, so there’s that. Yes, I am a critical thinker. I loved learning how to be objective when I was in college. However, I still love to dream. I guess I have more time to do that now, right? Haha!
