Last night’s art class was the bomb! I have found my jam (my favorite)!

My daughter and I painted these big ceramic mugs (pint size) with glaze. Let that dry and painted 1/2 with color paint. When that wasn’t shiny anymore but not thoroughly dry, we used a toothpick and made etchings through the color layer just to the glaze layer. (That’s when I felt a level of enjoyment I had not experienced before!)

I did all of my engraving by hand (without tracing over a stencil and sharpie marker drawing), like most used—even at the risk of messing up.

I was doing the class to try the process (certainly not because we needed any more mugs). Nor to come away with a professional piece. I am sooo NOT a professional artist by any stretch of the imagination! Ha!

I found this etching/engraving process hugely satisfying! It felt a bit like archeology or sculpting, as I dug into the paint and blew with my breath/used a dry brush to brush away the little bits of removed paint! It was immediately thrilling! I felt I could do this all day!

And even better, unlike some of the other classes, like the fused glass, the owners said now that I know how to do this, I can use this process any time I want! I don’t have to wait for another ‘class.’
So, I will definitely be doing more of this! And I can do this technique on any of the ceramics from their shop—and there’s lots more than cups and mugs to choose from. Yippee!!

Pictures of my mug (in process)

Do you see the snail? Hehe! Yes, this is my first ever hand drawn snail!
Our teacher (the shop owner), said my engraving wasn’t wide enough (thick lines). We shall see after it comes out of the kiln. My daughter (who did the first one and was used as the class example/sample mug), said my style will look more vintage this way. And that brought a big smile from me! I love vintage stuff! (Her sample mug looks more vintage too, so there’s that.)

Before we left the art studio I had an opportunity to look at everyone’s mugs. One of the ladies was an amazing artist and hand drew mushrooms of various sizes and shapes on hers! I didn’t get a picture, but I might sketch it out on paper and try that next time, as well as gnomes! Ha!

I feel doing this kind of art shows our differences in perception and perspectives. Heavy or light handed? Thick or thin lines? Angles or curves?

New music videos

I Am Multiverse. —Sheila Murrey

AND

Hearing Voices. —Sheila Murrey

I an improving in my use of Canva for these music videos, can you tell? But I will leave all of the less good videos on YouTube to show the progression. Plus a few have over 100 views! (That’s quite astonishing to me!)

I actually uploaded Hearing Voices on Facebook first, before uploading it to YouTube. And a few friends said they loved the song! I must say, I am thrilled with it too.

Everything happens for a reason in the multiverse with myriad sides to every story

Yes, Everything Happens for a Reason in the multiverse and Everything Resolves to Gratitude. Knowing that each of us (as fractals) uplifts my mind and allows me to view life as a lively kaleidoscope grand design that moves about in an ever-expanding, revolving, melodious, consciousness. Even if we have to disconnect from some people, for a time.

Enjoy (IN Joy) everything and love! Be Everything All the Time. Let’s THRIVE in ’25!

Yours in expanding, coexisting (because there’s more than one-side to every story), balancing, spiraling consciousness,

      1. Good learning curve Sheila. You now have a little story to tell of your first glazing endeavour. So a unique future adventure blossoms and can be seen now in future comparisons with the presentation of your initial voyage. Bet the beverages made in it taste all the better too. Cheers Sheila.
