It’s July 7th, 2024; We have an original country music song for ALL. We’re winding down from celebrating my daughter’s 44th birthday yesterday. No hangover, but I bet if we’d opened that bottle of Prosecco after having liquor (mixed or straight). This is a great country mix from Steven Cooper’s music studio in Nashville, TN.

My girl

Here’s the one-hundred-eighty-ninth new music post for 2024, as I consistently blast out new releases daily. New music stimulates our minds and bodies. We listened to some new songs yesterday; I found it interesting how many ways one could apply lyrics about ‘my girl’ to family or friends. I love songs that can apply to different circumstances and scenarios.

Yesterday, I watched our twin granddaughters play video games as my daughter and son-in-law assembled the new bed my daughter ordered. Later, we had pizza delivered (YUM) and enjoyed watching YouTube and a movie on the big screen (Our son-in-law has a pull-down screen and projector system).

When I wrote yesterday’s blog (and Facebook post) for my daughter, I realized just how few photos I have of her by herself. I have lots of pictures of my daughter with her girls; I’ve also got many pictures of my daughter with me and in family photos. I wanted yesterday to be all about her, but (at least in photos I have) she’s typically always with someone. Case in point, my son-in-law’s mom even took a picture of us at the lake the other day. I had to laugh when I saw it because my daughter and I looked like “two peas in a pod” the way we were standing (hands on hips, same body language, etc.)–and neither of us realized it at the time.

Time changes things but also circles back

My girl always loved the water. My parents began by taking her to the river. And a few years later, I took her (and my son) to the beach in Florida. We’ve had our differences, as probably all mothers and daughters do (I failed her at times; she rebelled too–as we’re each very independent/stubborn at times). But now? I’m so thankful we were open and willing to heal any/all emotional wounds and grow closer again. My daughter (and her girls) are my heart! And now, I know how my mom felt.

Yes, Everything Happens for a Reason and Everything Resolves to Gratitude. Knowing that each of us (as fractals) uplifts my mind and allows me to view life as a lively kaleidoscope grand design that moves about in an ever-expanding, revolving, melodious, consciousness. I’ve always loved the balance water brings. We can float on it, swim in it, drink it, and clean with it. Water. The ever present equalizer.

Enjoy (IN Joy) everything and love! Be Everything All the Time. May we all soar in ’24!

Yours in expanding, balancing and leveling, spiraling consciousness,

Sheila “Spiral Sister” Murrey

  1. Love the pictures… yea it’s HARD to find a place for songs. I have a cousin who writes country songs….and this one sounds great by the way…and he wanted me to co-write with him…it didn’t work. Everything I write starts sounding like power pop…I can’t help it. I could take “He Stopped Loving Her Today” and make it sound like Badfinger lol.

    1. Ah, I hear you! Thank you for your comment and compliments as it’s wonderful feedback. I actually think I could write some Jagged Little Pill stuff if I dug into my past history, but who would buy it? Ha! We are finding so many performers write their own music that it’s hard to sell songs (which is why we started sending our pro demos to outlets like CDBaby (now defunct), TuneCore, DistroKid, etc. The music business is a tough one.
He Stopped Loving Her Today is one of my all-time favorite songs, so I would love to hear it in your style!

      1. Oh no you wouldn’t!
Him and I figured out why…it’s hard to explain this without talking to you but…country’s verses and choruses tend to go down…power pop and Beatles type seem to go up…little differences like that and the song is changed!
Thats not a put down on country or pop but that is one of the differences.

        I know it’s hard. I write…and pretty soon I will probably post something I did….the quality won’t match yours…I can’t mix worth a ****….but I use Cubase and that is fine…but mixing is key.

      2. Oh! Thank you for the explanation (education)! And I totally agree about ‘the mix.’ We have had demos come back lacking much but when we ask the studio to remix, suddenly it sounds incredible!! It amazes me how much that gets recorded can be lost in a bad mix.
